A good, nay great city pub. Beer selection was great. The only thing I can think is that it's a bit out of the way as to why it was fairly quiet when we were there. Definitely worth a detour.
S. B.
Excellent pub, friendly enviroment and a great selection of quality ales, well worth a visit
P. C.
Good beer, friendly staff and a mushroom pool table (bar billiards ). Big bags of pork scratchings. What's not to love? I'm updating my review, it's still awesome, great land lord and a real pub feel. Best in town.
J. F.
Only bar billiards table in Nottingham and very well kept. Have already been a few times and definitely intend to keep this up!
Edit: definitely ended up keeping it up, been a regular here for four years 👍

A good honest, tradition style pub. It doesn't look much from the outside and is far from trendy but it's merits are:-
The beer selection is good and the landlord keeps it well, predominantly supplying ale from Nottingham breweries.
You can bring in your own food
The prices are reasonable and fair

An old fashioned pub sadly a not enough like it. Great beers, nice atmosphere, great welcome. Good prices. If you are visiting the national ice stadium, after the show if you want a lot cheaper drink visit the Newshouse.

One of Nottingham's hidden real ale gems. Beers top notch and always well kept. Welcoming, friendly landlord. No crappy music or pesky kids running around. A proper pub. What's not to like......

Lovely local. How pubs used to be. Very friendly and welcoming. Be back.

Update 17/05/21: reopen and lots of hygiene in place, feel very safe here. Cheap, safe friendly, good as before but better!
Friendly and welcoming. Cheapest ale in Nottingham city centre.what more do you want?

Solid little alehouse, hidden from the spotlights in Nottingham [You'll notice it when you're walking between the Motorpoint Arena and the train station]. Six real ales on tap when I was visiting; I tried the "Mosaic Pale", which was decent and fresh. No-nonsense décor, friendly, community boozer atmosphere. Nice place for a quick refill.

What a pub! It has an amazing a ray of old school pub games like bar billiards. The staff were very friendly and the pints are well priced. You could happily lose yourselves for a few hours in here.. 😊

Traditional pub on the outskirts of the city center. A good selection of real ales and lagers on draft. Darts and bar billiards on one side of the bar. Great place for a nice pint with a few mates
A. B.
Excellent pub - complete with canal running through it with resident canal boat. Fab outside seating area for the summer. Wide range of real ales and bottle craft beers. Food pretty solid too.

We stopped in for a few drinks after our long bus ride into Nottingham from Norfolk! We are from America and were visiting friends. Nice little pub, and the man behind the bar was very friendly!

One of my favourite pubs anywhere. Great beer, great service, and you'll always find someone interesting to talk to. Plus: bar billiards!

Nipped in here as doing a tour around Nottingham of the best pubs with my biggest critic (my kid) - bloody good baguette in there ! £3.95 for pulled pork with BBQ sauce and sage and onion stuffing. I went for the full lot, my kid wimp;d out (as usual) and said "i dont like onion". Afterwards i said so what do you think? "oh it was alright apart from the spice in the BBQ sauce" ??!!!??? huh ? there was no spice i could taste ..ah well kids for you. Some very fine Ales as well to be had. But then they havent had to travel far as i commented to the barman :)

A old fashioned type of watering hole. Well kept beers, rather out of the way place with snacks available. Not as cheap as a 'Wethers' but sensibly priced.

This was a surprise, a great little unpretentious place with some lovely beers
B. W.
Very traditional city centre pub selling Castle Rock beer. It's their pub but they also sell a some from Totally Brewed. A relatively new brewery that they have given a leg up to.
