Reviews of The Radcliffe
Very nice smart pub with very good beer garden. We were a group of 8 and the majority had fish and chips but said there was more batter than fish.
I had the mint sausages with mint potatoes. Very very tasty and afterwards I had the warm carrot cake with cream which was excellent.
This pub is on Shelford Road opposite the avenue up to Rockley Memorial Gardens which are exceptional.
Lunch at The Radcliffe
Nottinghamshire Pub Of the Year
It's nice to see a local pub putting Nottingham on the map.
They do a 3 course set lunch menu £21
We decided to go for the main menu that has lots more interesting choices.
To start
Crispy Cod Scampi
Warm Asparagus with poached egg
Mains
Chargrilled Sirloin Steak & pepper sauce
Roast Cod
Desserts
Profiterole with Tiramisu Cream😋
Warm Chocolate Fondant
With its modern clean decor and great food selection you can see why its a worthy winner.
We especially like the open kitchen that allows you to watch the chefs hard at work preparing the dishes.
The staff are lovely, friendly and professional.
Not forgetting The Radcliffes wonderful beer garden for those sunny days.
A great pub and well worth a visit.
Review helpful like 👍 follow thanks
Absolutely stunning setting and beautiful food. A proper fine dining experience without the extortionate prices. Dog friendly as well. Highly recommended.
Spent a fab night at the Radcliffe celebrating my granddaughters 9th birthday tonight and first time I’ve dined here. The service was excellent, the food divine and we were made to feel welcome right from the moment we set foot in the door to when we left. Thank you. Highly recommended.
Faultless, whenever I want a real treat this is the place I come to.
Late uploading my review!Went to the Radcliffe a few weeks ago with family who live in the village! This place has always been a dead duck over the years! But what a transformation!!! Fantastic atmosphere great food and large selection of cask ales and drinks ! Also a good varied children’s menu for today’s fussy eaters. We had the belly pork which I have to say was probably the best I’ve ever tasted. Based on our experience we have booked up for the Christmas menu ....Enough said !! We are returning that says it all 👍. Christmas update !! See pics 👍👍👍 a gastro rollercoaster 👍👍 very happy 😊UPDATE: Been tonight the 18/05/22 fantastic food by far the best gastro pub food I’ve ever had. Very friendly staff also .
Really nice meal. Everything about it was excellent. And I'm difficult to please being gluten free. Staff and service was also to class. I'll definitely go back.
The people are great, always accommodating and nothing is too much trouble. The food choice and quality is always second to none, but the price is simply off this planet.
2 adult mains, kids starter and main (no puddings); bottle and a half of white wine, plus three cokes…. £140. This is the Midlands, not the west end of London.
Great food and atmosphere at the best pub in Nottinghamshire 2022. 🙌🏾
Smashing roast beef dinner. Staff were super hospitable. Dinner for 5 of us, with drinks - £90. Amazing quality and great prices.
This is a great village pub, with large outside spaces, some covered too so you can be outside and stay dry in Covid-socialising. The food is always really impressive and I'm looking forwards to sitting inside again and watching the open kitchen. The starter and pudding were particularly delightful and made it worth booking in advance to get a table.
First visit last night and it impressed - fantastic happy staff who are just lovely. Buzzing atmosphere with plenty of people. Starter was just fantastic, maim was a little pricey and maybe including a side would help long term - although I get the food
Is at another level compared to most village venues. This is not just a “pub” but is very much verging on restaurant. The new interior is a mega improvement - with cozy split up spaces to sit replacing the previous open space. Only improvement could be some sound absorbing materials - it gets insanely loud.
Wow !!!! First time visit and definately not the last Friendly welcome from the staff and lovely atmosphere to eat our meal -- Food was simply "Perfect".
The Radcliffe has always been in a league of its own compared to most places in the area. We were therefore very disappointed with the recent meal we had there. The Soup had not been seasoned at all the haddock chowder was dry. We both had Sea Bream which had either been very much over cooked or cooked and left on a warm plate it was very dry.
Really gone downhill. However the staff were friendly and efficient as always
The bar staff were friendly and so were the waiting staff. The waiting service was also very good. The problem for me was the food. So the duck parfait came in a small kiln jar which was fine but it was rather bland and the worst part about it was you only got 1 small slice of bread to eat all of the parfait which I thought was a bit ridiculous for £7. I then ordered a burger for the main course which was 15£. For that price the burger needs to be great because the only other thing on the plate is a small bowl of chips. The burger was dry so was dissapointed. I think the chefs need to actually taste what they are bringing out of the kitchen. Anyway I wont be coming here again for food which is a shame because the establishment itself looks great and the staff are friendly.
We came here on Sunday for lunch. Delicious food and exemplary service. The Radcliffe never fails to impress with both food and customer service.
Superb Sunday lunch, always very busy booking advisable
The food is incredible. Highly recommend. The desserts for me are too big, I think smaller portioned desserts would be much more enjoyable. The service up until you have finished is great, but you seem to be forgotten about at this point and no one seems to want to give you the bill! Ladies toilets were well kept but the men's were not. Dead flies in the window, urinals didn't drain and hand towels thrown all over the floor... However for the starters and mains alone, a full five star review. Thank you
Its so easy to book this restaurant online and so simple. You get an email offering to cancel if required, so there is no excuse for a no show either !
Our arrival was well received by the Staff and an offer to have a drink at the bar, or taken to the table, was very much appreciated.
We were allowed to browse the extensive menu whilst having a lovely chilled glass of New Zealand wine.
I have to say the menu has something for everyone and is well thought out. The food is served hot and is cooked to perfection.
I had the Belly Pork, which was a huge portion and my husband had the steak. He said it was also exactly as requested.
All 3 courses were wow, even the Pavlova was again huge and for me, way to much for one person, so my husband and I shared it, with hot coffee. I know that sounds bizarre, but its hard to find a coffee in a restaurant these days. Its usually lukewarm at best.
I would highly recommend any of the 3 Restaurants the Owners have, as they are individually special, the menus also vary so you could eat at all 3 in the same week and receive a different dish.
Thank you to the attentive staff too and for a lovely evening. 10/10.
We hope to see you again soon. x
Lovely Sunday lunch. Well cooked and presented. Staff very friendly and welcoming.
Nicely renovated pub
Very nice interior and beer garden.
Food and service good will visit again.
Wonderful. First time there and it won't be the last. Super food, good service, lovely staff.
My OH and I went to The Radcliffe for Sunday lunch and everything was faultless from start to finish: lovely light dining room looking out to the garden, friendly and professional service, and delicious food. I had the mushrooms on toast, Scottish hake with macaroni (the lemon and dill sauce was perfectly balanced), and creme caramel with berries. OH had fried brie and chorizo, roast beef (best he's ever had, he said), and sticky date pudding. We both loved every bite and enjoyed the whole experience immensely. Will definitely be back!
Lovely food bit overpriced. Staff really friendly!
Never been before & it will not be the last time service and food excellent , well worth a visit
Been for Sunday Lunch now 4 times. Always had the Roast Beef which is cooked to perfection and melts in the mouth. Home made Roast Potatoes and Yorkshire Pudding the size of a head. Absolutely fantastic. Wouldn't go anywhere else.
Staff were really friendly and accommodating, found us a table even though we hadn't booked and they were pretty busy. Had the most amazing sea bass meal, absolutely lovely. Definitely highly recommended, will be returning for sure!
Lovely Sunday roast. Very good service with a smile. We'll worth the price
The best Timothy Taylor's landlord ive had in a long time looking forward to bass next week x
Great food, friendly staff, lovely feel to the place, especially for the festivities!!
Good vibes and lovely staff. A friendly place for a drink with friends!
I live miles away from here but the village was haltway between me and my friend. It was a pleasent surprise just how lovely The Radcliffe was. Latte was beautifully made and I had a sandwich for lunch which was made with amazing bread and filling. Just widh it was closer and would happily go again and again. I know its a photo of the toilet but just loved the sink and tiles.
Nice location with an obvious effort to make you feel welcome by the excellent staff.
One of the best burgers I have had in ages.
Good tasty gastro pub food in an attractive relaxing dinning area.
Second time at the Radcliffe, superb food, well worth a visit.
Nice pub with garden and good choice of food and drinks.
Friendly greeting. Superb main meal. Then it went a bit downhill service wise. Not very attentive. Had to ask for dessert menus . Wasnt asked if we wanted coffee's. It wasnt busy either. I will give it another go as the cod was so lovely
Absolutely lovely Sunday dinner. The service was efficient, very friendly staff & the food was delicious and well presented. The venue itself is lovely with a really nice atmosphere.
Overall, everyone enjoyed their meal.
Sadly, we didn't get to try the desserts as we were too full!
Definitely worth a visit.
This is exactly what Radcliffe needs a fine dining experience at pub prices.
The refurbishment throughout is excellent, it is very difficult to remember how it used to look.
The food was excellent, we were a party of four and all had different choices from the menu.
There was something for everyone with a range of gluten free and veggie options
Every one of the dishes was beautifully presented and prepared, the pigeon special was delicious.
The service was excellent, Millie was very attentive but not overly so.
An excellent night out and we will definitely be back soon
Wonderful, warm n cosy, lovely friendly staff, loved it .
Amazing food, amazing staff
What beautiful food and really friendly staff ..looking forward to going back again ...welldone keep up your lovely work x
Fab fab fab Sunday lunch. Interesting and tasty starters, melt in mouth belly pork and roast rump of beef cooked properly pink. Great selection of other choices for non roastie fans incl 2 x vegan. Too full for pud. Only criticism is that it so far away from our home in Kent!!!
Really like this place. The food is amazing and well priced. Second time I have been and both times I had a really good experience and excellent food. Staff are attentive and really pleasant. Would go again.
Excellent food. Great service. Plenty of outside space. Covid-safe. Good parking and a friendly welcome.
Love the Radcliffe as our local pub. The food is great and the outside space lovely in summer
Great place to eat and drink, can be noisy, prices slightly higher than normal pub food but is good 👍
Service abd staff excellant. The main meal was only luke warm, also the plates were not very hot.
Great food and space around the pub and garden, definitely a good place to take visitors for a decent meal out. Highly recommend.
Fast service and great food.
Excellent meal, wonderful service.
Excellent food and service as usual
Great food and atmosphere topped off with great staff
Nice food, nice staff.
Everything is always excellent, food, drink selection, service and especially the staff. We're very lucky to have The Radcliffe as our local!
Good service. Honest well cooked food.
The Radcliffe is an upscale pub that serves your British staples as well as interesting and tasty seasonal dishes. While I was visiting the UK, I had the fortunate opportunity to visit this pub frequently as I was staying nearby. The food, atmosphere, and staff are great and brings more life to the quiet town the pub inhabits. I wholeheartedly recommend anyone come here for a more relaxed environment that's comfortable business-type lunches, family dinners, or even just to relax with a drink at the bar.
Tasty, well presented dishes. Lovely friendly staff. The pub is decorated so classy and is very welcoming. Have eaten there a few times and enjoyed it every time.
Great food, friendly staff. Well worth a visit
Very classy. Seating areas are ok but can be quite close together. The Apres Ski area is beautiful and a very good idea especially as it's doubled as an outdoor smoking area. The food was ok but not worth the money which brings me on to the next reason for my score - food and drinks were very expensive. Overall, a good place to visit for special occasions or family get-togethers.
Visited The Radcliffe for the first time since Lockdown has been relaxed. We sat outside,in a Gazebo,it was a little nippy, but we had blankets provided so !it was cosy. My wife Diane had Cauliflower soup and Roast chicken , I had Duck parfait and pickled walnut and Pork belly. The food was absolutely beautiful, really tasty and well presented. The staff were really attentive and friendly,we enjoyed our time at The Radcliffe immensely,we will be back again soon. 👏👏👏
Beautifully presented food. Unfortunately given the choice between very pretty and still warm my preference would be for warm. If the fancy, pretty plates, everything looking millimetre perfect precision, style over substance, three bubbles of jus and a foam of whatnots is the thing you look for in a meal then it’s definitely a place you should visit. If you’re put off by the fact that it’s gone cold before it arrives then give it a miss.
Came here to celebrate my husband's birthday with my son & his girlfriend, as this is thier new local, I would highly recommend this restaurant, meals were delicious.
Had an absolutely lovely afternoon with my family today, the food and service was excellent.
My son is in a wheelchair and we had plenty of room to move around and toilets were good too.
We will return.
Good service, good food, good beer. A tad overpriced.
Great ‘destination pub’ with lovely walks along the Trent close by. Great food and services and a lovely big beer garden at the back.
Great pint of Guinness. Haven't eaten here
Beef roast dinner was nice - meat itself was tasty but pots and veg average. Sirloin steak was good and peppercorn sauce nice. Burger was ok but no seasoning?
Great atmosphere at the Radcliffe. The food is lovely and the staff were excellent, especially the manager Susannah
Very good meal but being honest the one negative was the sausages which were not flavoursome so would not choose again. Very good red house wine. Excellent service
Brilliant night.. great live music
Pleasant atmosphere and a decent pint
Really nice pub, friendly staff, good drink selection and beautifully decked out. Nice big garden too.. will come back in the summer for sure!
Limited menu but very friendly staff and the food was lovely. We felt very comfortable with all their precautions.
Dropped in for sunday lunch, very welcoming staff team. The place has recently under gone a massive refurb and it is beautiful. The food was outstanding I had the vegetarian roast which delicious
Recently reopened. Big focus on food, but also has a good bar area. Food was excellent, and the selection of beers was very good. Busy on a Wednesday night too, so clearly a popular place.
Good food and a calm atmosphere in this village bar and restaurant.
Really nice pub, friendly staff, good drink selection and beautifully decked out. Nice big garden too.. will come back in the summer for sure!
