S. W.Real ales, good food and friendly service. Although very busy, our orders were taken quickly, the food was delivered piping hot and was delicious. Its our second visit and will certainly return again when in the area. There are three or four real ales on offer. The menu offers a good range of well presented good quality high end pub fare. All three courses were very good. We took advantage of the three course set menu. Portions were of a good size and we left full but not overly so. Just perfect.
S. S.Fantastic meal and service. Would highly recommend and would love to come back. Shame we live so far away! We shall make it an annual treat when we come and have our caravan serviced.

P. S.The venue itself is great, love the open kitchen. The staff were fabulous and to be honest I was very impressed with the set up. The food is priced well in my opinion.
The only reason really for the 4 stars was that 2 people in our party had chicken which was quite dry. I think because of the way it was cooked but there was also no sauce with it.
Other than that, a very good establishment.
E.We went here last week for the first time for our first meal out together since last year, and it's definitely one of our new favourites! We had the burger and fish and chips and they were unreal, I especially liked the batter on the fish as it was crispy, light and wasn't greasy at all. For pudding we shared a melt in the middle chocolate pudding and cheesecake, and the sorbet that came with the cheesecake was beautiful too. The service was timely and the young waiter was so nice, polite and chatty. They've put up a marquee which completely shielded everyone from the rain outside, and they had blankets too. 100% recommend!
c. w.We had lunch here today. The food was delicious. I recommend the mackerel but it all looked excellent. The rhubarb crumble was sublime! The staff were lovely, very friendly and helpful. We will definitely go again and recommend it to all of our friends.

D. H.Went to the Railway last night for my Wife's Birthday and was met with a welcoming smile and attentive Manager ,Great start . we where lead to our seats and Drinks followed shortly after . Appetizers ,Starters and Main Course was out of this World in freshness and quality cooking .
We consider ourselves as foodies and we could not rate any lower than a 10/10 . Not spots off of some Michelin Star restaurants we have acquainted in the past . Highly recommended and Price for the food meets the Quality .

C. C.Our first dining experience didn't meet the standard we were expecting. We decided to visit one evening for a meal after reading the reviews about The Railway.
Food
We ordered a starter to share and mains. Our mains arrived very promptly and we queried we hadn't had our starters yet, the meals were quickly taken away again. The staff were very busy and we managed to suggest to the waitress that we cancel the starter so that our mains were not sat waiting for us to finish. The main meals were then brought back to the table. Both meals were ok but felt the main components of the meal lacked flavour for the price.
Atmosphere
The atmosphere of the pub was loud and lively. Whilst we enjoyed music from the live singers it was quite loud in the dining area next to the bar, making it difficult to hear one another. There were also a number of children running around and screaming. They were lying across the steps to the bar making it difficult for anyone to pass, staff were stepping over them whilst serving and clearing tables. The seating/dining area to the right of the bar, where you enter the pub, is probably the better of the two areas to be seated.
Overall an ok experience, staff were pleasant and friendly, didn't receive our starter, food was average on this occasion.

A. H.After a long awaited return we were extremely impressed with the safety measures put in place. They must have spent alot of money ensuring the garden area is safe as well as being undercover and looks amazing . It has a fantastic Mediterranean feel and as usual the food excels itself.

S.We didn't have a table booked and was told we could dine in the bar area as the restaurant side was booked, however when some diners didn't turn up for their reservation, the head waiter (possibly manager) gave us their table in the restaurant which was lovely as we wanted a 3 course meal, very attentive and perfect service along with fabulous food, our waitress marianne was also lovely, very professional and welcoming. Definitely returning, never disappointed when dining here. Sunday menu absolutely delicious.

The food was very good standard, I decided to go for the vegetarian option to see what it was like as I know some places don't really make much of an effort with veggie options. I am pleased to say that their baked parsnip and spinach bread pudding with root vegetables and pesto sauce was absolutely delicious and so refreshing to eat something so nice that had clearly been put together so well. I must give credit to the very helpful staff as when asked to add another meal on halfway through our meal they did without no trouble. Very good atmosphere and lovely staff. Thank you for such a great Sunday dinner outing.

B.I travel a lot with work and my partner is a big foodie so we’ve eaten at some incredible places around the country, including Michelin star restaurants, but this place is the best food versus value for money I’ve ever come across... hands down. I just don’t know how they aren’t mad busy every day of the week. The quality of the ingredients, presentation, taste combinations... it’s exceptional and for a reasonable price. I’ve never come across anywhere that’s got this so right. If you’re in the local area (or even 20 miles away) it’s worth a visit. A must eat.

The selection of real ale could be a bit better but they have a decent offering (the Otter is a nice pint). Above all though, the warm welcome you receive and the professional service throughout makes this one of the best places to eat. Highly recommended!

P.I have been multiple times to eat here now and my opinion is; that the staff are not experienced and shorthanded when it's busy busy, the kitchen is very talented but are obviously being forced to go cheap on thing such as the pork belly, and last but not least the drink selection is minimal along with staff that do not know much about wine or beer other (than how much it will cost).
It is a far cry from a bad pub, it's probably excellent in the grand scheme of things... but is that really anything to be excited about with the state of the grand scheme of things, especially pubs?
Premium prices but average offerings that are presented very nicely in an imaginatively themed (railways) pub.
I'm sure I'll end up here again but not in any hurry.

J. A.Staff very welcoming. Unfortunately I chose the lemon sole which seemed to have an excessive amount of bones. My husband tried to fillet it for me but the small amount of fish left was still difficult to eat without finding even more bones. My husband on the other hand chose the lamb which was delicious. We will still eat here again but I won't be ordering the fish.

Once we chose our lunch we didn't see a member of staff again until we approached the bar to pay. It wasn't busy and we may have had more to eat if asked!. I think lunch is over priced with a sandwich being just that, without salad or crisps for £6.50. The edges of the bread were to hard to eat. Won't be trying an evening meal, first impression wasn't positive.

The only downside was no water offered for the table and the roast potatoes and Yorkshire puddings didnt stand up to the meat and vegetables in relation to quality. We also had an extra portion of purple sprouting broccoli which when it came out was actually just normal broccoli florets.
