That reason being because they do ruddy good food.
It is one of Nottinghamshire best pubs for food and is a true Gastropub, a favourite of The Dining Gurus😋
They do light bites to eat but we decided to have their A la Carte selection.

C. M.Lovely pub but the food was overpriced for what we got. Paid £16 for a roast pork dinner and it was nice but the plate felt empty. Another got roast beef and it was all fat and no meat.
Ambiance was lovely and it was nicely decorated but can't say I'd be in a hurry to go back. Guess you don't have much choice if you're in Ruddington but don't make a trip for here like me

P.Decided to go for a date and a meal on fathers day of all days but these guys made room for us when I called on the day, the table was ready on the time they said, food was lovely and they let us sit and have as much time as we wanted at the table too! 2 course meal and a couple of drinks was very reasonably priced too, highly recommended!

m. “.Visited the Ruddington Arms at the first opportunity when lockdown rules relaxed. Love the premise of the pub and the food didn't disappoint, personally.
The service was attentive and the variety of the food on order was certainly more interesting than the usual pub grub fare. The scollop and crispy chicken skin starter was a highlight (as shown below)
A friend of mine did have to return their steak due to it being overcooked, which knocked our eating times off a bit kilter but our server did so happily, without us feeling awkward but otherwise we had a very enjoyable experience.

i. c.Passing through the area and stopped for lunch. Smart gastropub interior. My soup was far too salty for my taste and I didn’t finish it, though my partner’s soufflé was delicious. The mains were good, I had the beef Wellington, and the baked Alaska dessert especially fab. Also good local ale.

I had the hens egg which came with grilled bread to dip in it with mushrooms and spinach then the confied duck which was tender and very flavorful. The ruddy good ale was much better than anticipated too with a creamy well rounded cask ale.
J. A.Went here for lunch at the weekend. Got there about midday and the place was mega busy by 2pm, which is clealry because it has such a great reputation. We had the Chateaubriand for 2 which was perfectly cooked and the service was attentive and friendly. I can see why this restaurant came so highly recommended and we'll definitely go there again.

P. R.Had an awesome Saturday lunch here. We had the halloumi and mushroom burger and the beef burger with pulled pork special burger. I must say the halloumi vegetarian burger was just awesome. And the pulled pork was great to. It came with a side of chips and coleslaw, and again these sides were both great, and don't say that often about coleslaw! This was the first time I have been here, and I would def be back. I will reccomend this place to anyone.

S. L.If you are looking for somewhere to go for a filling lunch or dinner, you should definitely consider the Ruddington Arms. They have a great selection of food and drinks, which are all of excellent quality.
Due to how good the food is, the place can get really busy on weekends and paydays but it is still recommend you visit this place. When I visited for the Chicken Club sandwich, it wasn't too busy as it was mid month.
Nonetheless if you see a planning a get together in the Nottingham area, the Ruddington Arms is a great place as the staff make sure the environment/ atmosphere stays in motion.

S. W.Nice place the menu has not changed in over 1.5 years that’s why I left it a year before coming back but it’s pretty much the same. What they do is good Sunday lunches etc but I had the 10oz steak and it was really fatty well cooked but just fatty. It’s ok but because if the lack of menu rotation it’s pushing middle of the road to be honest.
Service is good staff are very attentive just menu never changes and meat quality was a bit off.

I. S.We ate here this weekend, Saturday & Sunday, as we were staying at The Lodge just along the road.
The RA has had a very thoughtful makeover, with some very interesting and carefully selected design touches.
Both evening's meals were delicious, with a refreshing selection of options on the menu. The service was very, very good - everyone was polite and attentive - I couldn't fault anything. If you like draught beers and real ales, there is a comprehensive selection too. A lovely place to eat, drink and relax.

The only things that are not very friendly are the parking and the fact that sometimes you book Sunday lunch and they sit other people on your table.

A. F.Seems a nice enough pub, but too posh for me. Open plan and very sparsely decorated, more wine bar style than pub. Didn't have food, but fish smelt good. If you want a upmarket place to eat and have a drink then maybe try it, but for a cosy pint and chat then there are other options near by.

J.This is one of the best restaurants that we have ever eaten in. The staff were very good, food was excellent souffle to die for followed by rib of beef, trimmings and proper onion rings cooked just right. The bottle of Carmenare complimented it very well. This is one of those places that you want to keep a secret just so you can get a table.

C.My friends meal had to go back as the chorizo sausage had the skin left on ,also are drinks had something in them so had to go back as well .Coffee didn't come until I reminded them but the manager took coffees of the bill because of all the problems. C.Disappointed with the choice just your tried & trusted pub grub which is fine for a snack or a sandwich but I could not recommend for a meal or a la carte dining and while the food was OK served hot and presented well & nicely cooked the portions were small and I have certainly eaten in much more impressive gastro pubs, and yet the prices were gastro pub almost 100 pounds for 5 people with 3 soft drinks 2 glasses of wine and 2 pints 20 / head for a single course each; which i order from my local chef & brewer for 7.50 with more choice.
It's a thumbs down from me overrated and over priced.

So glad we visited this resturant, started with lincolnshire poacher souffle both agreed it is the best we've had (himself saying with the execption of mine - Aw being nice to me : ) loved that there was loads of lushious sauce on it to dip the nice crusty bread in. Then we had the beef to share - Lovely, with scrumy garlic butter, chips, mushrooms, tomatoes and side of amazing onion rings included spring onion, everything cooked just right all very tasty. Without doubt one of the best resturant we have eaten in this Chef knows his stuff - good honest tasty food speaks for itself no need to over complicate and loose the plot - seriously miles ahead of World Service in Nottingham. Staff were lovely especially Georgia with here quirky fashion style - Definatly recommend you try.

S.Went here with several members of my dad's side of the family, as it was the last day of my uncle's trip and he would return to Australia the next day. Three of them had a 3-4 person share plater of a beef Sunday dinner and seemed to enjoy it, two of my aunts had the chicken Sunday lunch also enjoyed their's, my dad and my vegetarian aunt both had the mushroom burger that was available on the Sunday lunch menu and both enjoyed their's, while I the picky eater had the Sunday lunch smoked haddock it was one of the best pieces of fish that I have ever eaten.
