The choices were limited but perfectly adequate... I will go back again and would recommend this as a great value place to eat.

P. M.This is a lovely warm pub. It was pretty quiet when we went, which was nice for a few drinks and a bite to eat. All the food was very good. I had the Works Carvary and have to say it was great value. Plenty of meat with the added pigs in blankets. A decent selection of veg and potatoes and some lovely gravy. Service was quick, efficient and friendly. The even had a selection of alcohol free beers for our designated driver.

S. G.Great staff that work there, very friendly. We had a turkey and stuffing wrap and we both enjoyed that. What was a big let down was the starters. We had a selection of 4 for something like £12.99, I have to say that these are very disappointing for the money. One dish was salt and pepper mushrooms. I'd say it was 3 mushrooms cut into chunks and battered. Calamari strips, same thing probably 4 calamari rings cut in to bits and battered. All the starters came in little round dishes, and each one could have probably could have taken the same amount of food again. It's not this pubs fault it's the group I suspect. But essentially it's just tubs of batter and sauce. There isn't enough of the product to actually taste what it is that your eating.

T. F.Went here for a carvery food was lovely. But the service is upside down. They have to walk you to the carvery area understandable. But then you aren't allowed to carry your own plate back which is very confusing as you touch your plate when it's at the table. Very strange setup

The food was edible and certainly cheap.. This place describes itself as a venue to relax and unwind. The bar a staff and waiting staff managed to get through the evening briskly and cooly without a smile or chat between them. We watched the people being greated.they were either reminded that the pub would be closing or reprimanded e.g.register before parking bike in beer garden. It was clear the staff didn't want to be there. Once those booked in were seated the server disappeared so we took the hint and didn't order anything else. No doubt covid is the reason.

D.Don’t normally leave reviews but felt the need to after the exceptional service we received tonight from the blonde lady who worked their she cleaned a table for us as we wanted to be seated closer to the carvery area and the guest had just left. She also helped my son with his phone and connecting to the WiFi which she totally didn’t have to do! Thank you so much for your warm welcoming service. The place is lovely and clean and nice atmosphere. The carvery is brilliant and such great price and the puddings are outstanding and huge! Highly recommend and will be returning with family and friends.
g. l.Really like it here. Staff are plesent. It's not too expensive. Pizzas look nice but have yet to try them. Breakfast is nice. Although the day I went it wasn't busy and the eggs looked like they had seen better days. You're not rushed to get in and out. It's comfy to sit and watch time pass.

P. n. S.Very hit and miss affair. I had the Fish n chips with Peas and and carrots. Unfortunately it was a very dry, cold and tasteless experience. A suspect a common problem for carvery based service. The good news was I received a full refund as soon as staff discovered there was an issue (without me asking for one) . So... Although the place itself is fine and the staff are very are pleasant I'm struggling to recommend this place. Food might be better at beginning of service. Take your chances

R. T.Do you like to eat as much cooked breakfast as possible for less than £5? Then this is the place for you! The only reason I've deducted a star is because the sausages aren't the greatest and because everything is kept under heat lamps the bacon can dry out and keep on cooking - personally that's not how I like my bacon. I'd definitely go back again.

P. C.Great choice of pizzas as well as a carvery. We decided to try the pizzas. Ordered quickly at the bar; friendly bar staff. The food, when we got it, was excellent - but we had to wait over 30 minutes before the pizzas were ready and that was after we had queried the wait time yet the place was only 25% full. It's a shame the slow food service let things down. We had intended to have sweets but couldn't face another long wait. Would eat here again, though.

M.I had originally called prior to the day to book but was told we could not, yet on arrival there were many tables already reserved. The staff were pleasant and helpful and approachable. The food itself was delicious, with carvery for most of the group the rest had been given a device so when your food is ready you collect from the "oven" area then help yourself to the salad bar etc.
On the regular bus route in and out of Cotgrave and with camping near by makes this a wonderful place to visit.

Our order arrived a lot quicker than The Gap Inn, at Muston a couple of weeks ago & food was lovely! Very happy customers!

N.Cannot and will not fault the place... food is 99% of the time hot, cooked well and plenty of it... yes you will find time when the pots need refilling, go to any carvery and you will find this at busy times... as for veg, who likes their veg cooked exactly like everyone else? I like my cauliflower soft, son likes it like a bullet, hubby hates the stuff :) you cant win. Staff, we stayed at the caravan park over the road in August and went in a few times (every night actually) for a dinner, went back just before Christmas for a Sunday roast (we live around 40 mins away) and the guy behind the bar remembered us! even asked how my dad was!... very impressed, he even remembered what my hubby drank! Going back in a few weeks, cant wait!

Tge breakfast & unlimited refills of drink & food @ about £6 is worth every penny in the mornings & the pizza are to die for .. this afternoon with friends & kids the carvery served no shortage of meat & wonderfully prepared veg .. great service with a smile 😉👍

I. M.Carvery is ok-ish, if a tad dry. My problem with the venue is lack of phone signal inside the place. You can sign up for wi-fi but first you need a phone signal to receive a text message with the code attached which i got only after leaving the venue. So utterly pointless exercise.

A nice restaurant/pub, staff were very friendly and good service, Food is resonably priced and has a carvery as well as burgers, pizza''s, etc. We all enjoyed the food apart from the hen party burger which has 2 different pieces of chicken on 1 which was very dry and only just edible, also the bottom less ice cream was from a machine and was very runny more like a milkshake.

But get disappointed sometimes with the carvery buffet as the meat can be very dry and same as the veg must needs to be kept covered as the heat is drying the food out I've had to ask for new stuffing as it was not edible with being rock hard carrots are too watery they need to change as I do not select them after the first time but overall a lovely quiet country place to go

R.Myself and my family used to be regular visitors to shepherds until about six months ago when things started to go down a bit buthaving been told lately that it was better My wife and i thought we would give at a go today 29/10/12 after paying for our drinks and food we went to the carvery with all of dried meat teh best looking being the gammon and pork we both had that. the veg started with dried leeks hard dried peas left them alone carrots ok cauliflowera bit dry roast potatoes fine mashed potatoes dry skin on top onion gravy ok.Got to the table started toeat most of the food was either cold or luke warm had a refund no appoliges from the managment and left never to return again. And as this used to be a regular for special occasions we hopping to be so again but saddly not
