T. P.Great vibes! I love this place and consider myself to be a regular. It is amazing for all ages (even those on the older scale, like myself!), the eye candy behind the bar deserves a review in itself, even my husband agrees! I want to specifically mention the front of house Dan who always makes us feel like family, I wish I could adopt him or be his cougar as he is so special.
m. “.Had wanted to go to Sample for months and only had the opportunity to yesterday evening.
Service was immaculate - our server was incredibly friendly and attentive, providing her own recommendations without forcing them down our throats. She definitely went the extra mile to ensure we enjoyed our evening.
We got to sample 13 of the on-board dishes and were pretty wow'd by the pork and the chicken options. That being said, every dish we had was very carefully prepared and really tasty!
Great value for money too.
Would highly recommend Sample to-all.

I liked tilt because it is a little bar and because the Sir Bullion cocktail was one of the very finest I've ever tasted. Considered and executed perfectly in choice and proportions, an absolute treat.

It's a great little place tucked away behind a blink and you miss it doorway. The staff are great and there is live music here occasionally. Drinks are amazing, this is truly a cocktail menu that is unique. There is a lot to choose from and of the four I tried, spread across the spirits, they were all very tasty. The mix of sweet, bitter, fruit and booze was perfect on the pallet. Lots of places advertise cocktails, they have a limited menu and really do the classics - not here, Tilt delivers great new unique concoctions.
I visited on a Tuesday night and was surprised they did have live music. It was nice, I was alone and so happy for the background distraction, and got quite in to it!
Those wanting a quiet bar to have a quiet chat with mates, this is not the bar for you - live music means just that, it will be loud, but not so loud you can't chat if you want to.
Those who want to just drink beer, they do have this, but they specialise in cocktails, and that is something they deliver very well. A good cocktail takes time and preparation. Not just the bar tender, but the prep in advance with juices, spiced liqueur etc.
Only negative I might have, I think the booze level was not massive, makes for a good tasty flavour drink, but not a great drunk / cash ratio.

Recommended for either date night or cocktail night with friends as cosy surroundings with a smooth atmosphere. Prices are decent, but don't expect much change out of £20 for a couple of cocktails. They are worth it though.
J. T.Some strange mixed vibes but overall very nice. Decent cocktails for good prices. Bar staff very nice and had a good system going for making drinks. Have to climb relatively steep stairs to get to it though, so not great for disabled access or anyone who has trouble with stairs.
B.I really like Tilt and think they have a good choice of cocktails but don't take anyone that's into real ale or you'll never hear the end of it! Cute layout as well, but be careful going up and down the stairs if you've had a few drinks as they're a bit of a trip hazard if you're 3 sheets to the wind!

D. F.Love Tilt for some wicked cocktails. Great vibes inside and very cozy. Has some of the best bouncers in Nottingham. Can get quite busy but if you're lucky to get a table it's a great place for chatting.
N. V.This review is on the restaurant section. Excellent friendly service in a pleasant original setting. However, the premises are exposed to the kitchen and we were left with a heavy fry smell in our clothes. Food was very well presented and above average but nothing exceptional. I would recommend the place for its unique experience but I don't think we'll be going again. Value for money is good if you're there for the experience; rather bad value if you're there for the food.

Tilt has great jazz and blues music (sometimes live), friendly service from very memory-efficient bar tenders and a large menu of cocktails for not astronomical prices (about a fiver per cocktail).
It can be a bit difficult to get a table here especially if in a large group as the bar's not very big, but I would definitely recommend waiting around as the cocktails are far too drinkable...

O. M.An awesome cocktail bar that plays blues all night long, often has live performances going on which defies the size of the place. With seating for around 24 people on the first floor you have to be prepared to hold up the bar and wait for a seat, but the bar is the heart of this place so it's not so bad.
The bar staff are absolute masters of the craft, the creative drinks will satisfy every taste.
Upstairs there's a bit more space and room for a jig.
This place really is one of Nottingham's hidden gems, a tiny doorway to a secret world, everyone remembers tilt and it's a real speciality place. Highly recommended.
Try the rum for a little one.
V. U.Me and my partner visit here everytime we are in Nottingham. We love the quirky cocktails and atmosphere. We also live the jazz themed music. Would recommend coming here earlier in the evening when you can get a seat.

Keep going to the top floor in Tilt, and you will find one of Nottingham's finest eateries.
This place has only just opened, but we had heard good things, so decided to book a table for 4.
We were not disappointed, this place exceeded our expectations on every level.
The service was excellent, the food was amazing (every new plate brought flavour and quality) and to be honest at £22.95 per head for the food you are getting (we had 17 plates worth) it's a steal.
Highly recommended to all.

J. K.One of the premier cocktail bar destinations in Nottingham. Everything made fresh and fast, with live blues guitarists pretty much every night. Hard to find seating sometimes buy it's a beatiful and intimate bar with moody lighting - great for dates!
J. M.Myself and a friend recently visited Sample and had a great experience.
The restaurant itself is quaint, warm and cosy with dim lighting, and is decorated with dried and home pickled ingredients that the chefs use in their dishes.
The menu is a interesting concept, with two variations for each ingredient on the blackboard. The ingredients are locally sourced and change with the seasons, so you'll never get bored if dining here frequently.
Upon arrival, we were greeted and given some fresh baked lemon and turmeric foccacia with olive oil that was delicious, so much that we asked for seconds.
The concept of the menu and the ingredients were well explained to us by our server before ordering.
The food portions are well presented Michelin style portions, with each dish explained to us by our server.
Some dishes that stood out were the fried bream with Japanese sauce, bean balls with pickled onions and a basil emulsion, and duck with mango salsa and pomegranate.
The posh rendition of "beans and toast" - sourdough with borletti beans, tomatoes served with black pudding and truffle butter, was a favourite of mine and somewhat nostalgic.
We ate around 14 courses each and were both stuffed by the end of the evening.
At just £24.99 per person this was a great value for money experience and we look forward to returning in the near future.

I have been going here for years. My favourite bar in Notts. Always friendly and helpful on the door. Weekends can be busy, don't expect to get a large group in on a Friday or Saturday night. Best place for a late drink mid-week.

T.Tilt is easily the best cocktail bar in Nottingham. Be ready for them to teach you what makes a good cocktail no matter what your preconceptions may be.
p. b.Used to be a fave but now they've optimised the layout to squeeze more people in and removed the live music, I don't go much. Such a shame because there aren't too many honest down to earth music venues left in Nottingham
