W. C.Nice restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating.
We turned up about 12pm on a Sunday without reservation and managed to get a table but it was a bar table so had no table service but wasn't too bad. It got very busy at about 12:30pm. So careful going without a reservation
The staff were friendly and welcoming.
The food was nice.
The only downside was the Sunday roasts say they come with the sauces but they don't, so didn't get any apple for the pork or horseradish for the beef.
All in all, a very nice meal.
N. S.Easy to book online. Warm welcome, friendly serving staff and great choice of food and drinks. Service was great with drinks and food arriving quickly after ordering. Nothing was too much trouble and easy to pay the bill at the end of the meal. Good COVID19 processes in place and clean toilets. Really nice atmosphere and lovely place to dine out.

J. R.Lovely family meal, our party of 7 included a teenager and child and was to celebrate my mum's birthday. Right from the start the staff were friendly and attentive. Varied menu choice at very reasonable prices with a surprisingly good selection of wines. Despite it being a busy lunchtime food was served in a friendly and timely manner, was well presented and surprisingly good for a pub chain. Highly recommend and we will definitely be returning. Partner and I had a sharing platter. Which came out in good time. The only thing I wasn't impressed with, was the calamari. It tasted very rubbery, and didn't have alot of flavour for me.

M. B. (. B.Wed 15th Dec. Good food, but sadly none of the staff thought it necessary to wear a mask, even whilst serving, taking customers orders at the table or clearing. When asked they said they were following guidelines and didn't think it necessary. Customers entering the building all appearing to wear masks and removed when seated, obviously thinking logically that it's a sensible precaution. The finding based on the staff, may sadly go some way to explaining why the immediate postcode area to the restaurant is 1066.8 per 100,000 case rate appox double the UK national and 78,610 new UK cases yesterday. One day! Sorry guys but would it be so difficult to look after your customers with a little more consideration. A mask!

B. H.A spur of the moment night out meal with the father in law that was lovely! A whole vegan menu was a really pleasant surprise with puddings too. We will definitely go back but we learnt a lesson that we should of booked as it was Saturday night and busy. Perfect selection of beers too. Thanks.

For example the chips were a anaemic and my partner described her sea bass as bland. Think if they could sort the food out it would be great. Until then I won't bother going back.

Staff very welcoming and didnt have to wait too long to be served or for our meal, even though they were busy with customers inside and outside and also later on a funeral Party arrived. We have never been to the pub before, but will definitely be back now you are open again. Its so nice to go out for food again! Reasonably priced and blue light discount too. Plenty of parking but not many accessible spaces would be the only minor issue with the place, but would not put us off coming back.

S.Went here for a evening meal on bank holiday Monday 30/8/21. A great deal of the menu was unavailable and we were advised this on being seated. When ordering I selected the ribeye steak but again this was unavailable, although displayed on the chef's specials board. We ordered a sharing starter but then we were told they had ran out of humus and flatbread but would supplement with toast and another dip, when it arrived we had two sweet chilli dips and an extremely small platter for the price of nearly £15. Will certainly be some time before I consider attending this establishment again.

The good.
The mains and deserts were a good size and quite tasty.
The bad.
Our deserts cam out before the starters and had to be sent back. We waited almost an hour for starters and the entire meal took just under 2 hours
The other.
The staff were friendly, everything was clean.
The verdict.
During lockdown the service and quality were amazing although it was not the cheapest place to eat you got what you paid for. Post lock down the quality is good as is the service but it is not a cheap place to eat. I recommend booking if you can but expect a wait.
Again this review was left the first week after lockdown so things may change when they are used to running again.

There is a one way in and one way out. Tables are wiped down immediately before other clients.

However as a 'considerate' Smoker I am perturbed that the smoking 🚬 area has been removed to allow "fair weather diners" to eat 'alfresco' on a Summers day.. However tonight, my B'day, on a rainy ☔ summer evening, surprisingly the area was empty, and I was forced to guiltily smoke my cigarette 🚬 under cover of the front door/porch being made to feel like a leper.. 🚭.. Answers on a postcard..

On the 7.06.2021 it waa my daughters birthday, our family /friends been coming traverlers rest over 40yrs, but on the day above, wasn't happy with t response I got having to take a drink back in which I was just about to take a ship out in it, t glass had lipstick on it. The foreign lady behind t bar, her words was thay have been washed sometimes thay still havecliosticknstain on them!
I was Shocked.after our food we moved from t balcony to the grass area with our dog. After an hr we left. Relising when we got home none of us had paid, called 11am Nxt morning, Spoken to t landlord, explaining we was so sorry & horrified we hadn't paid. &;so Payment over the fone was made. I took it up with the Manager Explaining about t pint of lager which had lipstick on it & t reception I got from t lady who served it! He replied( I wasn't aware of that).
& Not even a kind jester for being honest about payment nxt day did have the decency to taken at least one Pint of larger off our Bill!.. £46 in total
NOT HAPPY WITH THE OUTCOME MORE SO BRINGING THIS TO THE MANAGERS ATTENTION!.. SAY'S ALOT DOES THAT :(

J. L.We love travellers rest and regularly go for meals here. The food is great and the staff are lovely. It is in a lovely setting and it is dog friendly too. They regularly send out vouchers, deals and discounts via email so keep an eye out if you register on the website or book a table.
D. E.You really do get your money's worth. The food was delicious from start to finish. The dessert was as good as the starter and the main course. The drinks prices are reasonable aswell. I'd definitely go again, and take someone who hasn't been before, for a special treat.

You can see for miles across Nottinghamshire from the lovely outdoor areas. The food and drinks are of a high standard. I have been a huge fan of the chef and brewer brand since the 00s and the standard has never dropped. My local rule of thumb, Travellers Rest on a sunny day and The Hutt at Ravenshead on a rainy one.

G. W.The Pub restaurant was impressively busy but I did make a reservation so my food arrived quite quickly. I ordered a Gourmet Chicken Burger which was very delicious, but the portion size was a little small but the prices are above average. It was a lovely place for a treat and the staff were very attentive.

M. R.Long intended visit after a family recommendation and two failed attempts to visit this popular venue. Staff were friendly and attentive, real ale was very good and well kept, but food was average, my gammon had spent a couple of minutes too long under the grill, but partner's fish and chips were somewhat better.

We have been for one evening meal and several lunches and one thing we have noticed is that it is incredibly popular so advance booking is recommended.
Service has always been excellent, we have experienced no excessive waiting at all and no over-attentiveness, they seem to pitch it just right.
The menu choices are quite extensive and there are separate lunch and evening options which means pricing is appropriate.
I have enjoyed everything I have tried, general quality is very good. There are Vegan and Gluten Free options so they really try to cover all requirements.
There are a good range of beers, wines and some speciality spirits, there should be something for everybody.
In summary, I have no hesitation in recommending The Travellers Rest... we will certainly be back soon.

C. B.The staff was very helpful as they managed to accommodate four for lunch without having booked at a busy time. When the meal was served it was cooked to perfection. There is a very good selection of drinks from a well stocked bar. The cost was very reasonable. Highly recommended.

A.If I could give a higher rating I would. The food is absolutely out of this world! I would happily pay more than I had to for the meal I enjoyed last week with my boyfriend. For less that £50 we had a sharer starter, two incredible mains and two sides of chips - as well as two cokes each. The portions are the perfect size and the food is cooked to absolute perfection. We both cleaned our plates!! The only downside was the rude waiting staff. My boyfriend had previously been and said that they were lovely, but it was a different set of staff, however, when we went they were extremely rude. As a whole, though, I would thoroughly recommend Travellers Rest to anyone.

J. H.A wonderful evening meal on Saturday with family and friends (party of 10). All mains were wonderful (including burgers, lasagne, belly pork, scampi and especially the beef and red wine pie - one of the best pies I've had for a while). The chips, fries, gravy and bread n butter were all spot on too and there was a good selection of drinks, inc real ales for me. The puddings were also excellent - my sticky toffee pudding with ice cream (and whipped cream...! 😉) was really good, but the Millionaire cheesecake, chocolate fudge cake and brownie were all enjoyed too. The service was warm and helpful and accommodated all our requests. The pub design and 'feel' was very 'warm English pub'. I wish I lived nearby to come more often!

I ordered one of the new dishes (stuffed chicken breast) which I was surprised when it came out like a stew more than a hunters chicken style which I expected. It was very busy and we had been waiting a long time I was starving and I just wasn't full after eating my meal. I think it would be good if it came with bread on the side as part of the dish. My friends meal gamon and chips was perfect but you can't go wrong with that. I just feel a bit cheated for what I paid at the end. I think they need to concentrate on quality not quantity I. E- turn people away if you just can't manage it.

Saturday 5/1/19, the three of us had sea bass with scallops on risotto, ribbed beef with cheddar mash and stuffed chicken with roast vegetables. We all cleaned our plates.
Yesterday 6/1/19 the three of us had the trio of meats (lamb, turkey and beef) Sunday roasts. Sadly we just had one criticism between us, the roast potatoes were over cooked and dry but we still enjoyed the food again so will definitely be returning!
J. P.It was fairly average. I had the goats cheese pie which was quite dry. My friend had the pork belly and mash. The mash was awful.when we fed back to the staff they told us it was from potato ‘pellets’ and was good enough for the other 1000+ green king pubs.
Our order was totally wrong and they charged us for the items they ordered in error but by the end of the meal we were just to fed up to challenge them on it so just paid and left. It wasn’t the worst meal but put us off enough that we won’t be back. It’s a chain pub and you can tell.

Christmas dinner, turkey, I think it was reconstituted something! Watery gravy, cauliflower cheese was very poor, hardly any cheese on it at all and very hard. A real shame, this last year Christmas dinner was 10 times better, a real shame to see a pub like this go downhill, and I’m not sure what anybody means about it being homely, and cosy, nowhere with hard floors and that amount of noise is ever cosy. Real shame.

A very special shout out to SHELLEY, one of the waitresses for her help - above the call of duty. I arrived on Tuesday evening following a half hour drive to meet with friends for a meal but they weren't there and no booking could be traced. I suspected either it had been cancelled or the choice of venue had changed but as my phone was in for repair I had not received a message. I had my tablet with me and Shelley helped me to try to log onto the Internet there to contact one of my friends. I sent my friend a message but wasn't sure if she would receive it as I kept getting a 'can't connect to internet' message. I bought a soft drink whilst waiting to see if I received a reply. SHELLEY was extremely helpful and kept checking on me and said she would try to contact my friend using her own personal mobile. She sent a message to my friend to either contact her or the restaurant directly. My friend rang the Travellers Rest shortly after to say it had been cancelled but she could be with me in 10 mins as she lived close by. She had also received my tablet message and replied but I didn't get the message until I got back home. My friend and I had a lovely evening and the food was delicious. Would definitely recommend a visit to this place

We chose to sit outside and enjoy the warm weather. None of the tables outside were clean. We arrived shortly after opening on a Sunday so it was not from previous customers the same day. All the tables had rings/stains from drinks, the tables are glass topped so the marks would have come off easily if they'd been wiped at all.
The tables all had a pot plant on them but I could only see one that wasn't dead.
My seared scallops with chorizo, samphire and rosemary & garlic mayonnaise was lacking in almost every regard. The scallops were not seared, the only colour on them came from the chorizo grease. The samphire was non-existant, it was rocket. There was no rosemary or garlic in the mayo, I think it was hellman's squeezy mayo. My partner reported that the IPA BBQ sauce with his goujons seemed to be just heinz bbq ketchup.
My roast gammon with apple sauce and crackling lacked both apple sauce and crackling. The stuffing was dry and square. The roast potatoes were soft and lacked and trace of rosemary and garlic again. The glazed seasonal veg were in fact boiled peas, carrots and broccoli.
My partner said his fish was good but his chips were not triple cooked. They were fairly standard chips, very little crunch.
We also had a long wait between courses, we were told it would be 10 minutes between courses but it appeared to be much longer (I wasn't timing it) but overall we were there for nearly 2 hours for a drink and 2 course meal
The food wasn't bad, it tasted fine and was reasonably well prepared but it wasn't as described on the menu. We opted not to stay for dessert. Overall, it's a fine dining menu but what you get served is bog standard pub food

I would have given it 5 stars but the Quorn mince pie let it down, the filling just wasn't that deep, ain't it always the case in this superficial world though! I"m not convinced about the lack of apostrophe in Travellers, but I'm aware that could be subjective. Regardless of whether the apostrophe is a genuine issue or not, this isnt strictly the plaform for that so, that discounted, it was a very satisfying experience. Keep up the good work Travellers Rest!
