A lovely pub, plenty of room, quick service and good food. Staff were attentive and helpful. One plate was light on chips so they provided some more. My son and I had the fish and chips which were excellent. Only slight down side was barking dogs, but I don't really mind it, just an irritation.

This is a nicely located hotel /pub restaurant by the river. The staff are very friendly and interior very cosy. I had the signature burger stack with skin on fries which for the price wasn't greatly impressed. The food was nice but nothing special

I go cycling with a group of friends on Thursdays.. Due to The Unicorn changing its opening times due to the Corvid epidemic and not opening as early as it used to, we have been meeting elsewhere. We were very pleased to get back into the welcoming atmosphere and friendly attitude from all of the staff. Its Great To Be Back :)

Room was great but when it came to ordering our food it could be better. Our waitress was new and on her 2nd day. The poor waitress was ran off her feet with no one to help her and I felt sorry for her. She was ever so nice but I wish she had someone to help her. We saw the barman stood behind the bar doing nothing and the manager just chatting to someone and the waitress is working on her own and we could hear the chef shouting

Travelling up the country, from Somerset to Lincolnshire, we decided to book somewhere for lunch to break our journey. We booked online for 2pm at the Unicorn Inn but found ourselves about an hour early. We were greeted by Isobel, she said it was not a problem and showed us to our table. We both had a Sunday roast dinner, which was delicious, and drinks. The service throughout was lovely, and we'd like to convey a big thank you to Isobel and the team for looking after us. We're also considering booking for our Christmas dinner this year. The menu looks fabulous!

Stopped at the Unicorn overnight to break the journey from Luton Airport. The welcome was excellent from the assistant manager. Took the time to explain everything. The following morning, we was greeted by the manager pre breakfast. He showed us to a table . Explained what was what. Excellent all round experience. We wouldn't hesitate to book again. Very very pleased.

We were having an overnight stay, check in was terrible taking over 20 minutes before we were even dealt with. Room was large which was lovely but very cold with only one small radiator and no heating in the bathroom. Service in restaurant was slow and limited. Every issue was down to staff shortages

Great pub. Great location right on the river. Good selection of beers and decent food. Parking in front and behind. Good place to start and finish a walk down the river.

We were able to stay in the pub carpark in our motorhome. We came into the pub with our 2 weimaraners, Harley and Hector, for a drink and some tea. What a lovely pub! The decor is so welcoming and the staff were very attentive. We had a mixed grill and a lasagne which were cooked to perfection and to top it all off, we were entertained by an amazing saxophone player. We would highley recommend paying the pub a visit and will definitely be visiting again.

Right by the river so lovely walks nearby and it's dog friendly so a coffee with your pooch after a stroll is a bonus. The staff were friendly.

We stayed at the Unicorn in Gunthorpe for 2 nights and it was a very pleasant experience and handy to travel into Nottingham. We ate in the restaurant on both nights and the food and service, as always, was very good.

Food was fantastic room was clean and quiet as me my partner and child had stopped bathroom in room was a little tired soap dispenser over the bath was broken old swivel mirror next to the sink was missing mirror and was broken ideally wants removing but other than that there was no issues really impressed

Good first impression - clean, tidy, pleasant staff. Tables not too close together. Good menu choice. Good balance of time between getting menu and taking order. Food arrived quickly, hot and beautifully cooked. Staff friendly and helpful throughout. We thoroughly enjoyed our first visit and will definitely be back!

Made a booking for 3 people for an evening meal, we were made very welcome, staff were polite, service was quick and food was excellent and a very good choice on the menu. Would definitely visit again.

We came for Sunday lunch, it was alright, would have been nice if it was hot, all the dinners were luke warm, tasty still. We had to ask for missing items off 2 of the dinners and were told no Apple sauce for the roast pork which was disappointing as it specifically says on the menu ‘Apple sauce’. Doesn’t take much to nip to the co op and grab some. The service is good and the drink selection also good. One of the desserts was hideous, the lotus sundae was not as described on the menu, it said creamy ice cream and it was frozen with ice crystals inside, and whipped cream and biscoff crumb, it was served as squirty cream and a biscoff biscuit broken in half. The ‘toffee’ sauce also was cheap mass produced grossness. You could do so much better for £6.50, it was a complete rip off and you could tell that no love was put into it. I serve all my food with passion and as if I was going to eat it. I think if we came back it would just be for drinks unless the quality improved here

Even though we were late and they were short staffed and serving a restricted menu nothing was too much trouble. One of our party was dairy free and her choices were easily accommodated. The staff were cheerful, friendly and helpful despite being super busy.

We stayed a week at the Unicorn Hotel. My husband and I had a wonderful stay. Staff are very kind. The room was lovely, the bed so comfortable, plenty of blackcurrant in my pints of Guinness and black. Such a shame that there was no food available because I am sure it would have been delicious. Such a lovely walk to the River Trent just outside the hotel. Would definitely book a stay at the Unicorn again.

Lovely helpful staff. We were a bit difficult by asking for some changes to the menu and items not on menu, but this did not phase staff one bit. Perhaps menu could be slightly broarder?

Got seated very quickly, food was awesome but it’s abit silly that they have food menus but no drinks menu, server came to take our drinks order and we didn’t know what they had due to a) co2 shortage and b) no drinks menu. Other than that the service was great with friendly and welcoming staff.

We came to stay at the hotel overnight so that we could do some Christmas shopping. From the moment we arrived everyone made us welcome, from the check in to check out. The manager took time to create conversation, all the staff where polite and helpful. The food was awsome, we both had the mixed grill and neither of us left anything....We have already decided to have a return visit for a couple of nights when the weather starts to get better and maybe have a wander around the area.. All in all, well done everyone and thankyou for making our evening a very plesant and enjoyable one.

We stayed overnight, we visited a couple of times before this as in the area, we are from grimsby we travelled as we love the welcoming staff, we love the food and the stay was fabulous....wished we had stayed more than 1 night but that's next, we both spend so much time at work, we look for a welcoming, calm atmosphere, worth the drive from grimsby...Manager was so welcoming everyone, took time out to make us feel welcome, nothing was to much trouble we felt looked after and definitely ticked all boxes for the quiet night away we needed....thankyou unicorn....

Was lovely dressed up for Christmas was well welcomed into the restaurant served straight away at the bar as we arrived and taken a seat to have a drink while we waited for the table to be dressed the staff was well mannered and polite and did everything they could do for us as they was really busy with making sure everything sorted in time and as they had much on to do they cept calm to give everyone the best service they can i turned up with a family of 7 people and we eaten everything on our plants we really couldn't fault the Christmas Dinner it was really nice and well presented and the staff made us really pleased with everything they did for us did everything they could to keep us happy and they did indeed thank you very much for Christmas day hope you all have a great Christmas to love from the Huntingtons xx
