Reviews of Boathouse
G. I.
Stayed in the nearby Firefly Hotel and had a very enjoyable meal here from a great menu.
A table full of guests were not happy that several things were not on the menu due to supplier issues (that many restaurants were experiencing at the time) and decided to try elsewhere.
I would like to add at this point that I witnessed the manager handle the situation with calmness and dignity under provocation from one individual in the group.
The meals were full, tasty and well presented and the establishment, busy, clean and full of interesting decor.
Would happily recommend.

Nice big pub in beautiful surroundings. Plenty of parking. Access ramp. Nice menu Plenty of choice, also young people's menu. Roast only on Sunday. Staff entertaining and helpful. Enjoyed meal. However sweet potato chips a little over done, bit disappointing. So meal 8/10. Same long drink bought twice, but given different glass second time ,so had to take bottle and glass to table. Suggest knowing which long drink goes in type of glass. As a former bar person we had to know. However overall , I would still visit again.

Beautiful place, lovely nature trails which are mostly well kept so you aren't bothered by nettles and thorns, some places could do with a regular touch up though.
Really big, connects to Thorpe park if I'm not mistaken (not from around here). Lovely place to go. Just bring your own water... The pub we went to charged nearly five pounds for two bottles of water lol.
G. M.
We stopped buy for a light lunch and a drink. We sat outside, food was lovely and the 2 young lads serving were polite and helpful. They checked all was OK and when we said it was great he said that makes him happy! Definitely will visit again.
M. N.
A lovely refreshing drink after a lovely walk...love visting this place.
Friendly helpful staff
P. S.
Very nice, for drinking and eating is a lovely place, inside a marvelous natural park. Fantastic atmosphere
D. c.
Just been into the Boat House after a lovely long walk so I was a hungry bunny. I chose the Roast Beef and wasn't disappointed cracking meal and blue light card discount thrown in for good measure. Well done will be back soon.

Lovely spot by the water, we had lunch here. A Steak sandwich and fish finger Sandwich. Very tasty, and hot.
Service was great, friendly staff, very welcoming.
We took the dog and he was welcomed in without any bother. There were other dogs there too.
Parking is pay and display but if you are using the pub you can type your registration number into the tablet on arrival and get free parking.
This place must be lovely in the summer, it was wet and windy when we went but we did have a little walk around the water.
K. S.
I met with two friends here today for lunch. Ended up leaving at 17:15. Lovely place. Food was brilliant. Staff were lovely and very welcoming making it a wonderful atmosphere. Would definitely recommend.
O. H.
Came here on Easter Sunday with my boyfriend to enjoy a lovely roast, we were served by the handsome Fuhad who was extremely friendly and accommodating for us. The food was incredible I had the 7 Hour slow cooked rib of beef and it practically melted, and coming from a Yorkshire household it is fundamental you get a Yorkshire pudding right with the roast… and they did! Will definitely be back again as this was my second time being here and both times have been stellar.

We visited the boathouse last month while we were visiting my sister in law after a serious fall,Mark greeted us and served us,what a tonic he was,he read the situation and was spot on with attentiveness even though the place was busy with only two servers (special mention to his colleague too)what mark needs to know is his manner helped with my sister in law's recovery it really did,so many thanks, the food and atmosphere were lovely,I'm just sad we live in Oxford so can't be our local, but next time we're visiting we'll definitely be back, very enjoyable lunch.thank you all.
k.
The starters of garlic mushrooms were really quite nice. The roast dinners were a little disappointing - not many potatoes and sad vegetables. I ordered the mushroom Wellington which was nice enough. For a roast dinner I might go elsewhere next time. The staff were friendly and helpful.
B. N.
I have really enjoyed the Boat House on previous visits. However on this trip, with stuff being off the menu and then ordering an 'aged' steak to only have to fight it when it arrives on your plate. Staff were extremely friendly, just let down by the food.
S. B.
Good food and atmosphere, love the fact it's dog friendly. Our party of 8 had a lot of questions and requests, all of which were dealt with by our lovely server, Fuhad who never lost his smile or sense of humour!
J. I.
The service brilliant and food great. We really enjoyed our experience. Mark served us and his warmth & sense of humour made us feel so special.
T. A.
Good food and pleasant environment but no coffee or tea because the machine broken! Surely a restaurant presenting itself as up market would have a backup facility, even if they had to say, it will take five minutes longer
V. A.
So, no fraught cider, at least two more beers unavailable, not good. Food ordered was very average but expensive. Needs a decent manager for certain to resolve their issues!
R. T.
Special thanks to Mark who was the most caring, compassionate and understanding host.
Nothing was too much trouble and he made our party of 6 feel special.
Thanks
S. P.
Great meal, both went for the 3 course offer, good portion sizes, well cooked tasty food. Very polite staff in a comfortable family friendly atmosphere.
Recent visit, sitting outside overlooking the river. Some changes to the menu, food excellent.
L. L.
So it turns out our experience of food and lservice a positive one. Heard from a friend not so good so all I can say is try it and hopefully it's good for you.
M. H.
Meal was of good quality, well priced and tasted awesome. Served by Fahed and Siena who were both amazing and very very polite, would def go back there again
A. S.
Really nice outdoor seating area. The good came really quickly, and was warm and fresh. The mobile ordering app was a little dodgy at some points, but there were always staff on hand to take orders if necessary!
D. C.
Overpriced. Don't mind paying if the portions are representative. Otherwise nice place, in a nice location, friendly staff and plenty of room.
D. B.
On the outskirts of Peterborough this place is set in beautifully surroundings. You can sit in the comfortable bar area inside or on the patio area outside looking out over water and surrounded by a wooded area. The staff are pleasant and helpful. Well worth a visit.
A. S.
Very nice restaurant set on the river bank. Good menu, delicious food and friendly staff. Beautiful views from the outside patio, even has a small children's play area.
m. s.
The best pub in the area excellent food the waiter Mark was so funny and witty.
Cannot wait to go again.
Don't change a thing its perfect as it is.
S. B.
We walked from ferry Meadows to Peterborough it was just over half way nice view of River we had dogs outside so good pit stop they lost a star because stood at bar for over 10 minutes waiting to get a drink and even though 2 staff members there they didn't say I won't be a second or anything just left me standing until another member of staff appeared
N. D.
Don't forget to register your car registration number on the tablet on your way in for free parking, fabulous outdoor areas to enjoy the sunshine or decking area under cover, plenty of seating available inside and out, reasonably priced drinks, food not tasted this time around, maybe next visit,
H. S.
Walked here from ferry meadows. Lovely pub, very welcoming. Had a pint then decided we’d have dinner too - so another pint. Food was fab! And you can take your dog in with you. There were quite a few dogs in when we were there, all well behaved. Water bowls provided. Nice decking area outside, I’m sure will he heaving in better weather. 5 stars from us! 👍🏻
J. N.
The food is good but the other day they stopped serving food at 16:00 which is too early. The staff are friendly and make you feel welcome.
H. W.
Great pub for a lovely Sunday roast and drinks. Food is always great and the staff are very nice and friendly. Would definitely recommend!
S. “. T.
Such a lovely place we had a walk around the rowing lake. And finished of with a nice lunch. Friendly welcoming staff.
S. H.
Great service from friendly staff, but nonetheless it's a Greene King pub and thus pretty much the same as every other pub in their chain.
T. M.
Very nice place to have a drink but the food has a lot of room for improvement had to send it back twice due to it been cold.... twice!
T. B.
Food was very good but took a long time to come. They did warn us about the wait and we didn't mind but couldn't really see why it took so long.
S. M.
Nice and chilled atmosphere..staff are very friendly.. reasonable prices.
A. M.
Lovely place in idealic surroundings. Great server today Althea...informative, great banter and made our visit. Thanks
J. R.
It’s a nice place to go either for a meal
Or just a drink right next to the river and it’s just a all round lovely atmosphere such a lovely place to come to relax
C. B.
Nice pub in a good location. My only complaint is that it needs more than one person serving behind the bar.
S. M.
Just had a delicious light meal of chicken pate and toast and coffee late. Very good environment and atmosphere with excellent friendly staff.
Its also dog friendly too which is an extra * point from me. Thank you
H. F.
Very nice inside and out lovely position on the bank of the river gets very busy
Advisable to book a table in advance its a very popular place
T. H.
First time to the Boathouse, great food and wonderful hospitality. Would definitely recommend visiting.
D. M.
Lovely meal tonight. Some lovely food with special people.
Special mention to our waiter Norbert. He always goes above and beyond whenever we are in and deserves recognition for the service he provides.
J. G.
Decent pub lunch
d. d.
Our favourite place in Peterborough ❤️😍 Amazing atmosphere and amazing food, couldn't ask for more😍❤️
R. B.
Nice place but no heating so got quite cold as the evening progressed. Food ok, service was good
E. J.
Went here with a good friend of mine and really enjoyed myself, staff are very friendly and efficient service provided, this is a dog friendly establishment and water bowls provided for your k9 pal.
B. V.
Great restaurant, good food, not easy to order online,
G. S.
Called for a drink to end a day of preparation for our sons wedding. Friendly staff and lovely beer garden.
b. m.
Food was good expensive £15 for a burger ,staf where attentive and efficient. That's the reason I gave 5 stars
G.
Excellent ale enjoyed on the sun terrace overlooking the Nene basin on Easter Monday. What's not to like!
p. f.
One of the best pubs/restaurants in Peterborough, good atmosphere, friendly staff, good food, dog friendly, very quiet place !!
Recommended !!
d. t.
Only had a cold drink but was impressed by staff.
S. M.
Lovely place. Great atmosphere. Good menu, friendly staff excellent service and superb food
G. Z.
Really nice pub and the food was great. Service was quick and pleasant. Pub is tucked out of the way but defo worth searching it out.
N. S.
Our first visit to Nene Park and discovering the Boathouse whist out on a dog walk along the river and rowing lake was a lovely surprise. The pub has a nice beer garden with ample seating, both under cover and in the open, with good views across the adjacent water. Being late in October and quite chilly we opted for sitting inside, where we found a very cosy table in the dog friendly area near to the open fire. The pub offered a wide selection of drinks and food at reasonable prices and the staff were very friendly. All in all a very enjoyable afternoon and we will definitely return when next in the area.
m. w.
Indoors nice open plan and a great pub garden by the river.
N. D.
Absolutely lovely place, tranquillity pure and such friendly service, returing tomorrow for lunch
J. R.
Had a great meal today, lovely staff and great atmosphere.
H. S.
Friendly service, free parking, good food and drink and reasonably priced too.
M. G.
Great place to meet friends for something to eat and a catch up. Food was good too.
d. p.
A delightful quiet place, friendly and smart staff and lovely coffee.
A. C.
Super friendly staff. Wonderful atmosphere.
A. g.
Lovely food and staff, nice experience. I would come back
P. G.
We had a nice drink here on our way from ferry meadows to Peterborough
V. S.
Mark gave us an amazing service!! He’s such a great assets to the team and such a lovely guy
A. H.
Superb venue, great food and friendly staff. Well done.
C. H.
Food very tasty friendly staff and our dog was allowed in
T. L.
Went to eat but don't do the same lunchtime specials they used to do. Just fancy sandwiches
r. b.
Service was under par when the bar person didn't know what a sparkler
was.
D. e.
I had a meal here with my wife. The food was cooked to perfection. The fillet steak was just mouth watering. Great service with a smile. Only criticism is that cutlery needs to come out before the food not after. Great place Great staff 👍
A. B.
Our neighbourhood pub. Excellent ambience, great customer service and food.
j. q.
Fab team, they were short staffed (covid related) but made sure everyone was advised on arrival and that barb service and reduced menu only. Food good. Team friendly and attentive. Fantastic job thank you
S. G.
Took over an hour to get food. Was busy but no warning on time and had to chase to have plates removed to get dessert. Not a great experience.
G. H.
Very cosy and welcoming. Good for a nibble and some hot chocolate if you've just been rained on. Bar staff were very friendly.
R. G.
Nice outside space for drinks after a walk by the river.
p. C.
Lovely indoor and outdoor spaces located over looking the rowing lake. Menu was very reasonably priced but lacked dairy free options for children. Staff were very friendly even though very busy.
i. f.
Sat outside with a pint and enjoyed the view of the lake
P. M.
This place is beautiful and food amazing 😍
K. F.
Had a lovely roast dinner really enjoyed it and the dessert was lovely.
K. M.
Lovely friendly staff and food was excellent 👌
A. S.
Nice lovely place which is why it's expensive, if you've got money and want something romantic or quite then I highly recommend this place, I'm not loaded and I'm slightly common so it isn't a place I can go often lol
M. G.
I managed to download the App and put the order in it but it froze taking my payment. Eventually I was allowed to go inside and order - other people from outside had been allowed to go in and order but I was told it wasn’t policy. Inside trying to understand what was been said to me was a nightmare as I am deaf and normally lip read. For someone who is nearly 70 and trying to do her best I was quite upset.
Fish and chips arrived without tartar sauce and the bread and butter which had been ordered. When the bread and butter arrived it was a mess - the only way to describe it!
We enjoyed the fish and chips but it will be a while before we visit again!
P. H.
Stayed at the Dragonfly Hotel not far from the Boathouse pub. The staff were excellent and the food was brilliant especially for the price. I would highly recommend the Boathouse. But if you can find better, we'll good luck. I will be looking to return.
S. M.
It's like a place in fairy tales, our favorite place with my wife.
m. g.
Lovely meal in a fantastic pub garden. Slight hiccup with non availability of some of food ordered, but more than made up for by the offer of free puds. Lovely pub, great staff, would highly recommend
D. S.
We went here as it used to have an outside play area but unfortunately it's gone to make way for more outside tables.
Staff are very helpful.
Food is a little pricey for a pub chain but lovely.
I like to use my tesco club card points to pay.
j. w.
Food lovely, a little expensive for what it is but not overly - it's good. No visible COVID measures in place any more, though. Restrictions have lifted but most places still have staff wearing masks etc.
S. H.
Had a fab lunch here. Great service, lovely staff and tasty food
J. B.
Cheap and easy meal.
We had a nice view of the river and the staff were great.
B. R.
AS ALWAYS MARK MADE THE DIFFERENCE IN HOW TODAY UNFOLDED, MARK ARE A DELIGHT TO BE WITH
BIRGER 🇩🇰
M. s.
Very clean, good choice of drinks, dog friendly for well behaved dogs, water available. Staff friendly and doing their best in these trying times, well worth a visit. Good menu too.
V. B.
Slow reception but very good food.
R. H.
Nice place, great garden for sitting outside with the dog.
I. L.
The staff were very helpful in explaining all the social distancing rules & very welcoming. We used the app on our smart phone to order, it had more choices than the printed menu for Vegetarian & Vegan. The food was excellent, the staff were brilliant. A very enjoyable, post lock down, experience for all the family
P. P.
Lunch after a walk with dogs - perfect. Food was good, environment very nice.
r. n.
Lovely place, couldn’t fault the staff, but the food was disappointing. The beef which was supposed to be pink, came up well done and with a nasty streak of gristle. Gravy could have been better. Cauliflower cheese didn’t taste cheesy at all.
The food let this lovely place down.
i. c.
Feel for them, lack of staff made life tough for them today. Soldiered on though. Great location and atmosphere. Typical chain pub grub! Nowt to complain about, nowt special.
L. H.
Very slow service, understaffed.
Shame as its usually a great experience
E. E. R.
Always nice to sit out but the Green King app playing up to order off. So had to input numerous times before gave up. But friendly staff member did help and take order inside. Food was nice and came quickly 😋
A. K.
Good end of walk destination! Nice outdoor space.
C. E.
Had a lovely lunch, weekday, was quite busy and a long wait for food, approx 45 mins. Gourmet steak sandwich for me and a burger for hubby - very nice indeed.
E. G.
Spent the weekend visiting my brother who lives near this establishment, we were lucky enough to have glorious sunshine and spent a couple of hours sampling the menu and taking in the lovely views of the rowing lakes . Lovely afternoon
a. b.
Pros point:
Sunday roast is second to none in pboro.
Cons: wait times go up when busy, 45 mins to get a pudding out... so some room for improvement still.
M. O.
Lovely setting, great service, good food what more could you ask for
D. I.
Cracking evening. good beer, lovely service. food was just amazing. Not many veggie options but what I had was delicious.
K. B.
Food delicious, served by lovely friendly staff especially Rebecca who welcomed us at the start and looked after us throughout, a pleasure!
E. F.
Food was lovely, but the service was really slow, the drinks were staking up at the bar and the waitresses didn't seem to want to be there.
S. N.
A really lovely pub in a scenic setting. The staff were super-friendly and the food was amazing. I recommend the goat's cheese and butternut squash tart. Definitely one of the best pub meals I've had.
A. B.
It was quiet today when I visited with a colleague for lunch, but the service was prompt and food and drink were good. The COVID regulations were employed well and we were shown to a table marked as clean and ready for use. We were checked on a couple of times to make sure food was ok which was a good balance between attentive and overbearing. All in all a good experience and would visit again as I have done many times in the past.
M. J.
Nice surroundings with a great beer garden. Good Covid practices. They cater well for dogs. Free 2 hrs parking as well. Car park is popular with ferry meadows visitors hence the need to charge beyond that.
P. J.
Went there for a family meal. Food was cold, just like the weather. Hoping for a quick meal turned into a hours wait and being told some for not available, including tea and coffee as there was no milk
M. M.
Great food reasonably priced with friendly staff. Play area outside for children.
R. C.
A lovely place and staff.
Went back after a year.
( Easter Sunday) the place was packed WOW the staff , service , and speed of the food was excellent ,
and good pub grub .
The Manager was spot on and once again really 100 %. Thank you.
To day 01/07/19.
Still fantastic once again 100%./ 03/08/19. Fantastic location, fantastic parking and fantastic staff.
14/01/20 this is the number 1 place we go to.
Food ok too. 17/03/20 we know go at least twice a week still fantastic.
V. T.
Crispy Pepper Squid starter was great, Red Pepper/Sweet Potato Koftas were quite small but good. They have a good selection of drinks with some popular things (Heineken) unavailable - can always check on Green King app beforehand. Gourmet Burger was good and Truffle Mayo fries a cheap and worthy upgrade at £1.
Staff are nice and helpful - outside seating is good too and good atmosphere.
S. B.
Went to The Boathouse last night for a 80th Birthday party a group of 12 plus a 6 month old baby, Found the staff very friendly and helpful and accommodating. Were shown to our table which was well presented. Orders all taken by an excellent waiter and they all came out together ,all starters were tasty and well presented, all mains came out together yet again presented beautifully and all hot, same with the desserts, so 12 adults and not one person could pick fault with a single thing they ate, everyone enjoyed the evening and we will definitely be going back, the chef certainly knew his stuff, thank you everyone at the Boathouse
A. T.
Food was a Bit inconsistent. ordered signature roast of 12 hour slow cooked lamb shoulder, this was very tender but absolutely tasteless Yorkshire pudding was stale , my wife’s fish was really lovely, My daughter loved her pasta which was great, and son ate all his dinner as well. Staff very pleasant, and managed to get us a table even though we hadn’t booked. Venue is amazing, my son enjoys the play area, and I love the dog friendly environment , ( water available outside with water bowls) I remember coming here about a year ago and the pub being very under staffed, totally different experience today thankfully. We will be back again , but may try a different roast next time. Thank you all the same.
R. T.
Pleasant place to sit & have a drink. Good if you are out & about on cycles or out for a walk, also dog friendly. Did not have any food so unable to comment on the grub. Just one negative toilets on the dirty side & could do with a deep clean.
R. K.
Good food, generous portion and decent service. Nice location and setting in Peterborough - surround by some nice walk. Great on a summers day as long as you have some shade. Baby friendly.
J. G.
Nice food but small portions & high prices. Friend had the mixed grill and it looked apaling for the price. I wanted to complain but my friend didn't wish to make a fuss. Better value in other pub chains.
L. B.
We needed a table for 7 people and were told to push two tables together. No assistance from staff.
Then told that several items were unavailable , which wasn't a problem but once food was ordered we were told they had no onion rings so would extra chips be ok?.. (not really).
Cutlery and napkins were piled into the middle of the table.
When the food arrived. ..minus extra chips!.... it was All in all very nice.
No problem with the food but customer service could do with a bit of work.
Lovely pub situated in a nice location.
H. A.
Nice food at affordable prices, prompt service and attractive surroundings. Free car parking for customers is an added bonus.
M. W.
Lovely building with a real log fire and stone fireplace and is situated at the side of a lake.
A. W.
Portions were small but of good quality. Service was slow although they were busy. First time there nothing special.
J. R.
We popped in after having a long working day. I must admit, the interior is amazing. The food was lovely too. I had a chicken burger. The other diners were well dressed and their children so well behaved. It was a lovely experience. It is by the water and, as it was hot, we took our drinks outside.
S. A.
I chose this place especially to celebrate my husband's birthday. The ambience is warm, welcoming and cosy. The menu is suitable for vegetarians as well. There is a wide choice of sides and the kids menu is also desirable. The staff are very caring and service is commendable. The food is very tasty. My favourite is the garden bowl. An evening well spent indeed.
L. M.
Lovely food. Dog friendly so my puppy enjoyed himself too.
D. A.
Usual good, but on this occasion as it was a fee days before Christmas the food took a bit longer and one of the meal's was wrong so we skipped this one meal but not good.
This was a vegetarian meal so should have been easy to correct but did not.
Don't forget to sign in the car when you park or you will have a excessive car park fine.
C. R.
Good friendly service. Steak cooked perfectly. Belly pork brilliant. Kids meals good and enjoyed.
Nice relaxed atmosphere.
Great.
Not the cheapest I've paid for pub food, but quality was good - so I don't feel overcharged in the slightest.
Would come back next time in the area.
Oh yes! Also covered by the Tescos vouchers scheme - unlike most places, these guys let you use them against the whole bill - not just the main course. Brilliant!
J. S.
Lovely service, staff very helpful..amazing food..beautiful scenery in the garden over looking the lake..relaxing atmosphere. Great evening thank you.
j. b.
Really good food today early evening. Dogs more than welcome. Bar staff attentive and very friendly to us and the dogs wish it was on my doorstep, brought extra drinks to the table and told to pay on the way out. Parking, go straight to the bar after parking and use the tablet for 4 hours free. Till next time 🐻
J. S.
Great food, could do with more variety but what they do serve is amazing
L. D.
Great looking place and good drink choices.
Haven't tried the food
Y. M.
The food was beautiful, and the staff very friendly, shame about the weather rather cold but still had a fantastic birthday treat thanks to my lovely son
A. P.
Nice setting not far from the Nene and Thorpe Meadows. Greene King pub which tells you all you need to know about the beer. Good food too
J. B.
Love going here, pretty decent food for a reasonable price but also nice environment. Lovely to go for a walk around the lake too.
R. G.
Good. Quiet and clean. Staff friendly
A. E.
Service was good and their covid 19 measures are very rigorous but good.
Their meal was good and affordable. Nice environment to dine in.
L. W.
We stopped here on Sunday (mothers day) for a quick drink, we didn't have any food. The toilet door was extreme!y annoying it banged really loudly every time someone went in and out. My partner mentioned it to a member of the team and he had a very bad attitude so my partner tried to solve it himself but it didn't work. He then went up to what we thought was the manager and again bad attitude and 'what do you want me to do about it' so we left rather than having another drink, couldn't stand the banging door. Shame as it's a nice pub with nice surroundings.
T. B.
Was welcomed as I walked in, I explained i had all my fishing gear outside, kept an eye on it while I popped to use the toilets and my beer was brought to me promptly, excellent service
P. O.
Was generally a good place with a nice atmosphere, good food and nice staff. The only small neg. Is that my son had the three meat roast and it was quite light on the meat compared to similar meals for less cost in other pubs.
C. M.
We had the work Christmas party here. They accommodate a large party of us really well. The Christmas menu has plenty of choice and tasty options. I chose the duck, which was very tasty and I would pick this again. However the vegetable accompaniments were a bit too much. Over half the plate was filled with Kale and then some new potatoes and some roasted red onion. The dessert was just delicious, warm brownie and ice cream.
I have visited this establishment on several other occasions and although it is often busy, the food is always good. I have recommended The Boathouse to friends on a number of occasions.
K. W.
Very nice food, vegan and veggie stuff clearly labelled on menu. Really nice range of desserts (Clementine tart was delicious!). Friendly and helpful staff, good wait times, and good value.
D. J.
Love a pint of the good stuff from the Boathouse🍺
C. P.
Great atmosphere and absolutely attentive staff. constantly making sure everything was okay at your table and willing to provide you what you need. I highly recommend this place.
G. C.
Always nice, it's not a 5 star place but it's nice enough for a quick dinner out. I mean the food is great but they don't always bring what you order... lol
R. '. R. A.
Great food, quick and polite service. A fabulous meal out with family. Definitely will be returning.
C. M.
This is a really nice place right on the river. The food was great, as was the service. All in all we had a lovely meal and we will definitely be coming back soon.
O. P.
I have visited pub 25th May with my friend to celebrate my birthday. As always I was happy with the food and drinks and of course customer service. 2 weeks later I was issued with the parking ticket. All I had to do was phone the restaurant and speak to a member of staff who was able to cancel my the parking ticket for me 👍🏼
I will be definitely coming back and I will remember to type in my reg number once I walk in to the restaurant :)
C. S.
The boat is by far one of, if not the best place to eat in Peterborough. The food is always of a high standard, the atmosphere is very welcoming and the staff are friendly and always look like they're happy in their jobs, they are a big credit to the management team.
M. F.
Nice pub, reasonably priced. Beautiful location
J. M.
Have been there since the lockdown is eased..perfect atmosphere for catching up with friends and family...Good choice of drinks, food with excellent service
R. W.
Lovely Sunday roast & staff were friendly. Service was rather slow at times though.
I. W.
Good quality food but small portions. Drinks are well priced but not everything on the App is available.
B. H.
Nice food and location. They're not great with walk ups so make sure you book.
D. W.
Tried to book a table for 7 people with less than an hour's notice and of course they were full but were told we could sit in the bar to eat. Turned up but tables booked in there too so nowhere for seven. Feeling a bit narked said to one of the waiting staff we thought people weren't allowed to book in the bar; quick as a flash she went round and pulled some tables together and made us a table for 7 laid it all out and when the rest of our friends arrived we were able to eat and there was a good selection of food and we all enjoyed the meal. Top marks for customer service.

Saturday special had ran out, however staff were very uninterested that they were advertising a menu choice that they didn't even have therefore causing customers to enter a restaurant under the pretence of a good deal when in fact this isn't the case. They offered a different steak however were not will to meet the price of the original steak that was advertised.
T. T.
What a great little place first visit and will definitely recommend to my friends, food was really good and Sebastian was very friendly and attentive to us... thank you Regards Tracy Thorogood 😋
A. T.
Lovely food and great service, will visit again if I'm ever down this way again.
R. R.
This is a nice enough place to go for a drink especially in the summer, but describing it as a 'Gastro Pub' is a little bit far fetched. The food is OK most of the time but is nothing special. They have a habit of running out of certain beers after a 'busy weekend' and the bar service is painfully slow.
K. C.
Went for lunch with my best friend wednesday lunch time...service was excellent..food very good and reasonably priced 😁
Z. W.
Food was awesome and the Saturday night steak night is brilliant. The steak was cooked to perfection and the thick cut fries where great. The staff where very attentive. A lovely cosy pub for a nice evening out
S. D.
Just wanted to say Thankyou to all the staff at the boathouse made to feel very welcome indeed and just a point to make about the parking there make sure when you arrive you go straight in as you have only ten minutes to put your details into their system.
The reason being if you go over the ten minutes you will be fined not by the Boathouse but by the parking company who operate the site..letter will be in post and then phone the pub to cancel it
D. G.
As the restaurant was fully booked we managed to get a table in the bar and ordered a meal for 3 people. The service was very good and the food was lovely. We will definitely be returning again.
C. S.
Went for a family get together on a Sunday with a couple of dogs in tow. Most of the group went for the roast. The food was OK service was good. It was a nice very dog friendly place.
H. S.
A lovelly pub that just so happens to do very good food. Have been many times both for food and just to enjoy the views from the deck with a beer in the sunshine. Staff are friendly and the prices are very reasonable considering how good the food is. Just be carefull with parking as their car park is now pay and display (nothing to do with The Boathouse, I should add) and a ticket does tend to take the shine off your evening :)
A. H.
Thanks for an amazing lunch today, the meal was not disrupted by COVID, brilliant set up was a real treat
Andrea,Lauren,Laurel would deffo recommend, download the App, book your tables ready for when it opens book early to avoid dissapointment.
M. N.
Great atmosphere food was hot tasty and arrived quickly too...I had chicken Tikka very filling. Great price and portion too. I've recommend to friends and now they attend regularly.
I use my Gourmet card and get a fab discount. ...one day I'll maybe get free meal lol. X 😀

Beautiful little pub, which was nice and quiet when I visited (I wish I had visited both nights when I was staying at the hotel next door!) The food arrived quickly, was hot and was very tasty! I would definitely recommend this place
C. H.
Before I review the pub be warned about the parking... Car park has a payment machine outside the front door. I put £3 in the machine thinking I'd get a refund as a customer - wrong! You have to put your vehicle registration number into a machine at one end of the bar then your parking fee is covered. Car park is overwatched by CCTV cameras so it's imperative to get your vehicle registered otherwise it's a fine from a parking management company.
Now the pub review... We visited on a Sunday mid afternoon for a late lunch. Staff were pleasant and the food came quickly. However, the food was pre-prepared and had been around since the main lunchtime rush. It was okay but my chicken was overcooked from being kept warm.
Pub is nice inside and near to the River Nene and rowing lake.
Nice pub but spoilt by the parking arrangements that could be made easier just by clearer signage.
R. D.
I love this place.
It overlooks a back water of the river Nene, and the Peterborough Rowing Club.
Very quick service, a good menu and helpful staff.
On a sunny day the large beer garden is always popular with the natives.
C. Y.
Its a lovely pub to sit outside a little cool today never put us offer, service good and food tasty had lunch there
K. C.
Nice dog friendly pub overlooking the river
N. T.
Just a really lovely environment... Great food, excellent service and good selection of drinks on offer.
Beautiful setting and relaxed atmosphere. Always enjoy coming here.
L. N.
We had a lovely meal and the service was great!!! We were served by Josh and he was excellent. He made us feel very safe.
C. B.
Beer was good and the barman was attentive; but the toilets need some serious TLC. Basics such as soap dispensers should not be missing and even if fitted, soap wouldn't go amiss.
H. W.
Lovely place. Food was really nice and good prices too. Staff very friendly. Felt very safe as well
S. d. (. d.
Had the gourmet burger, was ok, nothing really gourmet about it, partially I didn't like the runny egg on top, the yolk gave the burger a bit of an icky texture but I stress that's a totally personal opinion. Dessert was delish.
c. j.
Fab food. Staff nice and friendly, great location by the river.
s. s.
Great place. Come here weekly in the evening after mine and the kids rountinely walk around the lake and we stop for ice cream and a pint! We've been here loads over the summer too for lunch and haven't had a bad experience yet. Food and atmosphere is good
N. S.
Nice big place inside and outside seating, by the water. Food can be better, we did not get our food according to the menu description. Not a good value for money.
C. B.
We went to the Boathouse Peterborough for a meal Wednesday 16th December, Josh who was our waiter was extremely professional in his service, friendly and very competent in explaining their Covid rules..Well done Josh..
Will be returning soon...
A. C.
We had a very nice meal with very good service top class .
V. J.
Food is nice and the location is awesome! It's next to a pond that is connected to Nene. If you like fishing it's nice place to spend some time. Don't expect trophy fish tho. Biggest so far was 1.3kg tentch.
P. S.
A Really Good Lunchtime meal for two.
Very Good service and staff friendly and helpful
K. S.
Had Sunday lunch. Very very busy. Told probably 1 hour wait. Starter served within 15 mins mains in 30. Enjoyed food. Staff worked extremely efficiently. Will come again.
J. A.
Amazing food and service, well thought out social distanced tables. Well done! Can't wait to visit again.
L. D. L.
Very nice staff but ran out of so many things. Couldn't even have coffee as they ran out of milk!!!
C. L. (.
A pleasant pub near the river. Excellent food, free parking (if you register you vehicle in the bar) and a good choice of drinks. Best to reserve a table if you want to sit inside though
a. o.
Nice pub serving good food. A little bit more expensive than other places nearby but not excessive. Staff seem friendly and overall enjoyed my visit.
J.
Nice place but never been enough staff behind bar when I have been there so service not fast. Food is great though and a fantastic place to eat out in the summer.
P. O.
Nice atmosphere, polite and friendly staff, food wasn't great and cost more on a Sunday
J. M.
Fabulous fish and chips.
S. D.
Great choice for families, couples or friends. Nice outdoor seating area, both covered and uncovered. Fantastic food menu and good range of drinks. Would recommend to anybody!
G. W.
If I could rate this 3.5 stars I would. Due to its location with views over the rowing lake (on the cycle home) I will be a returning customer. If it were anywhere else, I'd give it a miss. Ale selection leaves something to be desired and as for the food- think Wetherspoons but with a dressed up menu.
L. A.
We had a lovely meal well cooked and hot the staff could not have been more helpful if they tried a nice experience all round will certainly eat there again.
K. D.
Good quality food from varied and balanced menu.Staff friendly & efficient- minimal waiting time.Portions on the smaller side , but just about adequate.
V. M.
First impression is good ,when you go in all the staff be all the equipment necessary, the food is lovely ,the first time I been the in very disappoint but i give a try again and in surprise. Well done guys
C. K.
Lovely meal and brilliant staff especially Alex and Norbet
J. F.
Absolutely lovely meal, staff very attentive, definitely going back.
A. B.
Really friendly staff, great food. Lovely setting on the riverbank.
C. N.
Great food good value and excellent service .what more could anyone ask for .
M. M.
Nice relaxing place for drink. Beautiful pub but the food is not worth the money. Roast dinner not nice. Burgers look like cheap microwave meal and prices are £12 more for meal. Very disappointing. Also service not very fast.
G. M.
Very nice pub with a lovely beer garden. Friendly staff, decent food and good selection of beer.
J. D.
Went out with my cuz for a late brithday lunch. We had fish and chips with the works. Very nice. Have not been for a few years. And food still good and price is very good. Well be back soon.
G. H.
Not my favourite place to eat, only two dishes that I liked on menu but probably suit a lot of people. What I did eat was good though, and a plate full.
J. R.
Service ok. Food not as impressive as description on men7
O. O. m.
Well done to the Boat house. Lovely refreshing and clean decor, menu's on the tables nice and clean, did not sample food, just a nice guinness, Amstel was nice, means good celar management. All in all a very nice visit,
Reason for low star ,
After such attention to detail on behalf of the management, you was sadly let down by the appearance of the barman , who only letdown was his feet that sported old summer pumps that looked as if they had belonged to a old Tramp, with a swinging key fob hanging around his ankles, also I believe there is a gluten free main menu around , of which I heard him say out load " didnt even know one exist" little training is all thats is need " welcome hoist"
and Hccp for waiter who is using a single serve clothing and placing on the side - not in the bin.
Seems a awful shame to be let down by these small issues.
B. B.
Easy to book online. Very friendly and attentive staff made us feel welcome. Plenty of choice on menu, good food and good value.
B. D.
Have to say this looks a really lovely place to eat, unfortunately we only went in for a coffee after having a nice walk. The atmosphere was good as was the service.
c. k.
Love the location of this pub! Food wasn't really up to much, lots of mix ups from the kitchen staff (ie bacon in a vegetarian dish) but ambiance is good.
N. M.
Good surroundings and warm atmosphere. Autumn game menu. AWild boar Wellington was superb, however potatoes and pulled guinea fowl were forgotten from both meals... Long beans not cooked and potatoes (when they arrived) were hard in the middle on one dish , the other was fine. Aside from this I would eat here again. Cherry bakewell roulade made up for earlier shortcomings.
A. K.
Boathouse has been on the continuous down fall for months now. Its a shame as it use to be really good quality of food nowadays everything is very plain and lacks final touches. The service is also not the best. Shame...
K. J.
The Boathouse was a bit of a disappointment. I ordered the most basic lunch, burger and chips... I left the chips untouched as it looked like it was fried in dirty cooking oil. Maybe, I was unlucky on the day (Monday afternoon).
K. m.
Lovely place, great food
L. C.
Nice place to go for a little bike ride and a spot of lunch.
N. B.
Lovely place, dog friendly. Good food and drinks.
B. H.
My food didn't include three of the ingredients listed and the asparagus was on the edge of going off. The other two meals, however, were nice.
P. B.
Food exellent right up to the point after the mains where served I think the forgot about us never asked us if we wanted puddings or drinks so after 30 mins+ we asked for bill and walked .disappointed
e. d.
Lovely food both times I've been! Felt very safe and secure covid measures in place too 👍
V. W.
Beer selection was way down compared to pre lockdown levels...ambience was ok, distancing wasn't bad
I. M.
Son and I went to the boat house for a late lunch. Sat out side in the glorious sunshine. Had my sons favourite meal, bangs and mash. Very nice.
S. W.
The Boathouse has recently been taken over by the Chef & Brewer chain. Very disappointed to find out the Seniors menus have been discontinued and that on the cheaper lunch time menu the battered cod has been replaced with pollock! I would rather have a smaller piece of cod if it isa matter of cost cutting. The chips also were not nice, unlike before when the Boathouse's chips were lovely. I probably won't go there again which is a pity as I used to go there quite regularly
j. u.
Very pleasant family fun place to visit, food simple but good - BUT seriosly the SERVICE was SO riduculous it was like a slow comedy video shown on 'You've Been Framed' the waiter seriously hadn't a clue what he was doing in any direction - luckily we weren't in a hurry n could laugh about it but not all children are that patient !
S. P.
No better than l ok really. For what it is, it's pretty pricey. Had our meals bought out one by one, but didn't get cutlery until they had all arrived. The first plate had been on the table for about 5 minute.
L. M.
Good quality food, fast service and some good ale.
S. P.
Great place for food and if you like fishing beautiful little spot to try
j. s.
have used this place for a number rod years with it changing hands on numerous occasions but still has good basic pub food and a nice atmosphere. great in the summer for sitting outside by the river and has a small play area for the little ones
B. S.
Great friendly staff, very attentive.
Good tasty food.
C. B.
Pleasant place to have lunch, friendly staff and clean.
T. H.
Lovely venue to eat or drink. Great to sit outside as located in Lovely surroundings
N. R.
Quite possibly one of the best gluten free roast dinners I've had in a while that I haven't cooked myself. Yorkshire pudding, gravy and crumble.
r. c.
Meals were well presented and quickly served. Reasonably priced. Could do with more bar staff
M. C.
The food is good value for money and the staff are very friendly. The place is looking a bit rundown and the toilets are not the best hence the lower marking
G. H.
Lovely place.Staff friendly and service good.Food was average to good today 3rd June.Mixed grill steak dry, wife had fish which she said was gorgous but rice very stodgy. Will return to try again soon.
A. M.
Had a very nice light lunch sitting outside. Friendly helpful staff.

Great pub and restaurant. Nice location. Good food, friendly staff. I go there often. 👍
M. H.
Nice spot along the River Nean. Good food and atmosphere
K. H.
One of my favourite Pubs in Peterborough with amazing views of the river nene. Friendly staff and good food. Plenty of car parking space too.
R. H.
Good pub food with nice beer no different from many! but what's the point in having a bar if you have to queue in a long line! It was like queueing for groceries at the supermarket
l. d.
Very welcoming and well laid out during these Covid-19 times. Food and service was excellent....Will definitely be returning soon !!
C. D.
Nice pub good food abd good prices. Nice garden area also
E. L.

Lovely food great staff who are very helpful
A. P.
Great menu. Very good service. Sticky toffee pudding and ice cream so gorgeous.
R. J.
Food excellent, staff very helpful but had to wait too long (over an hour) for any food to appear. Some items missing from main courses when food finally arrived.
N. M.
We found tonight was excellent, the food was faultless, the atmosphere was really nice. I would recommend this to my friends and family 😁
r.
Great menu and excellent food. Really friendly and helpful staff too. Restaurant is modern and relaxed.
f. S.
Lovely lakeside, can feed the ducks and also nice hiking trail.
k. m.
Excellent service by all , well looked after by George Woodall, food excellent as usual with prompt service. All the best from table 2 .
Ser you guys soon
K. H.
Wanted to charge for parking, ridiculous
Having had a response, I have changed my score, at time of visit it wasn't obvious, to us anyway, that parking would have been free to guests, still a rigmarole to go through,
S. H.
Very pleased with food and Service, both excellent.
M. P.
My food was ok but my friend's was not good. We got our money back but that's not the point. Shame as it's a nice location but we won't be going back
p. r.
Very friendly and good food at a decent price. Excellent views of river. Also dog friendly. Definitely recommend.
m. m.
Food was fine but waited a very long time for it.
D. N.
Even with all the nonsense surrounding covid they still shine, our meals were beautiful and the service excellent. We shall always choose The Boathouse first
S. T.
Great pub, lovely food, good social distance measures. Thoroughly enjoyed my visit.
S. E.
The mixed grill was good but my wife's salad was not. 3 greene king ales on the bar not to my taste.
C. D.
Very nice. The food was perfectly cooked. Staff were friendly. Great meal.
D.
Good food. Good atmosphere. Nice play structure out back and chilled for the kids. Would go again.
S. P.
Expensive drinks only real ales which appears normal for local eating pubs that think there up market ,staff very nice a efficient
R. D.
Nice food, nice place.very busy but got our meal for 4 relatively quickly.
R. H.
Regular destination when visiting relatives, never let me down. Love the beer.
P. F.
