Reviews of The Blue Bell

Service top notch, and I dont say that lightly. Friendly, engaging and efficient. The food was the best of its kind I’ve ever tried. Attention to detail counts… the bread- the freshest ever, the salad garnish - dressed and tasty.
Look forward to returning and spending more time 💝
S. W.
Wonderful service and fantastic food. Everything was lovely but the Chocolate crémeux, lime butterscotch sauce, crystallised pistachios and pistachio ice cream was exceptional.
One of those courses you linger over because you don't want it to end
10 out of 5 stars if I could

Second visit to the Bluebell and definitely not the last.
This place always looks welcoming from when you drive into the car park.
Staff well presented and look as if they really enjoy looking after you. The tables are well spaced out and all areas are clean.
We sat in the conservatory air conditioning made it comfortable on a warm Summers evening.
Good varied choice of meals and drinks. The duck leg was cooked to perfection. The burger accompanied by skinny chips and the belly pork I was told was very tasty and satisfying.
Food beautifully cooked hot and carefully presented.
Desserts were not dissapointing.
Finished the Evening with a relaxing cup of coffee.
This is a lovely place to meet up with family and friends.
A lovely Friday Evening.

A thoroughly excellent experience for self confessed fussy diners. Clean and contemporary in the garden room, though the rustic main pub area is just as quaint and inviting, we will certainly be returning in the future. Food was outstanding, great quality, and very enjoyable, with a showstopper sweet in the form of a strawberry parfait to finish. Many thanks to all the team at 'The Blue Bell'.
J. L.
Excellent food and very dog friendly. Plenty of parking space and a lovely garden area
Not 5 stars, simply because they were so busy and short staffed and we waited over an hour to get served. However, the lady waitress was super friendly and did her best. Recommended but allow plenty of time to relax.
M. L.
We had our Dad's 80th birthday here, we have been numerous times before. 20 of us including children, the food was great, service impeccable and timely.
A. C.
Lovely place to visit, I went with friends who are regulars. The food was great, I had the, rump beef burger it was delicious. One of my friends went for the battered fish and chips, they really enjoyed it. The staff were friendly. I highly recommend this place.
M. E.
Attractive place, OK food. Not very friendly waitress. Reasonably priced. Don't sit in the conservatory if you want to be able to carry on a conversation, the loud people's voices reverberate around and it's like you're in a city bar.
V. C.
Booked the Garden Room for a family meal for my sons 18th birthday. The food was fantastic and staff very friendly and helpfully, would really recommend. Thank you to The Staff at the Blue Bell for a great service.
M. N.
Great service and food.
Excellent choice of food and drink in a lovely village setting.
Easily able to cater for those with coeliac disease.
Lovely outdoor courtyard.
Plenty of parking on site .

Been here before. Its accessible and the garden is accessible too. The food is quite exspensive. We were sharing a buffet which was lovely. The sausage rolls were gigantic and very good.
R. S.
Food is lovely, good service - we prefer a table in the main dining area, not insider the conservatory.
K. L.
Lovely pub with friendly and welcoming owner and staff. There’s a beautiful back garden area that’s great for kids. The food was really fresh and delicious! Beautifully presented. Highly recommended.
H. E.
The staff were lovely, bubbly and chatty. The beer garden was relaxed and romantic enough for my first date 😊
P. O.
Good food and great service, we went in evening time without a booking. Our fault did not think that during the week it would be so busy, but they managed to get us in. Thanks....
If you want to get food book, it's worth it.
G. C.
Just had the best lunch I have eaten in years, stunning food, excellent presentation and service beyond belief. Thank you, I so wish we didn't live 300 miles away, but we will return. Incredible. Thank you again 💓
A. P.
We went for afternoon tea. Sandwiches were mediorce, very slim with the filling which we had to guess what it was. No other savoury on the plate. Plenty of cakes and again we weren't told what they were.
Tea definitely wasn't Yorkshire tea, bit tasteless.
p. m.
Celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary here the food was excellent, staff very friendly and helpful, good car park and dogs allowed in the bar and garden, will definitely visit again.
J. C.

Such a great garden area outside at the back. Went for the funeral wake of a good friend today, they provided a lovely buffet.
G. W.
Happy cheerful service, meal exceptional, market fish meal was my preference and it was cooked to perfection and delicious.Thank you
T. D.
Lovely atmosphere, family friendly pub. Delicious food. The venison and cod dishes were very tasty. Kids pasta was a bit underwhelming basic sauce on shop pasta, but otherwise the mains were delightful and well cooked. I would recommend.
T. D.
Had a lovely evening with family and friends. Had drinks around the log burner before having an excellent meal. Efficient, friendly service in cosy surroundings of a lovely old pub. Will definitely be returning - couldn't fault anything. Made very welcome.

Amazing roast in the lovely garden room!
Banana parfait also yummy!

Attended a wake at this public house. Food was good. Not the biggest of space for the venue. But still a very nice tranquil place to be. A lively village pub
M.
Amazing food, one of the best weekend lunches I've had in a really long time. Dessert was great too!
R. D.
Cute little pub has separate restaurant but also do bar meals.
M. R.
Very nice, good food just a little different.
Plenty of parking,as long as it's not picking up time at the school next door!!!.
A. M.
Superb service, great ambience. The quality of the food is really exceptional. Every visit feels like a special occasion - we’re always made to feel welcome and never disappointed.
J. F.
Very nice food a pub
T. P.
We are very lucky and fortunate to have the Blue Bell as our local. We love it the food is superb and doesn’t require a second mortgage. It has ample parking and in the summer we often pick the kids up from school pop in for a daft drink a delicious home made cookies and a play in the large rear garden. Great atmosphere great food and the staff are friendly and polite. I tell everyone the only thing warmer than the loverly open crackling log fires in winter is the welcome.from the staff. And if you haven’t tried steak night it’s a must.
L. S.
really lovley place. friendly staff. very clean and most important the food was great. cant wait to book again.
A. D.
The bluebell is a funny old place, sometimes you can have an amazing meal, other times it's all just a bit meh! The menu seems to change so regularly that if you do find a meal you adore (the curry last time we went was truly special) you can be assured it won't be there when you go back! The choices are also quite limited and the prices a little on the ridiculous side. Yes the food is nice but so is not having to remortgage after every visit, this is a village pub, not a gourmet London restaurant after all. Children are welcome but make sure you pack something for them to do, there is nothing provided and the service can be painfully slow (granted a lot of this is due to freshly cooked food which you can't really complain about I guess!) The portion sizes are varied, this visit mine left me hungry but my daughter's child size I would have struggled to get through (and that's despite the salt they'd doused it in!) Over all, I think on this occasion I really wasn't blown away and we'll definitely be looking at other restaurants in the area before heading back. It's convenient but just too expensive to be our regular local. If you do go though, I recommend the fish and chips, that's one meal they consistently get right!
A. S.
Called in for a bite of lunch. Lovely traditional country pub. Only had a sandwich but the menu looked great, varied and reasonably priced. Nice patio area and garden at the rear. Dog friendly. Planning on returning soon!
S. G.
Lovely food, however drinks menu is very expensive for a country pub and a limited range of beers
Cocktails are lovely though
I. P.
Good friendly staff and atmosphere. Food is excellent... Go visit.
D. G.
The food was lovely, service great and friendly staff.
J. H.
Lovely place to eat. The staff were all lovely. Good Sunday Lunch, huge plates of good, fresh local food. Really clean. Would recommend a visit. I will go next time I am over this way. Thanks for a lovely meal.
G. M.
Good atmosphere. Enjoyed the food. I had the steak, cooked exactly as I requested.
A. M.
Visited for the first time Saturday , a limited but good quality Ale selection; the Bluebell IPA was very good and can't go wrong with Timothy Taylor.
Very polite and helpful staff and charming Pub.
Food was of a high quality and a good choice maybe a little limited vegarian choice but they were very happy to make changes to any of the dishes.
I had the Sweet Potato, Red Onion and Cheddar Tart, Mediterranean Vegetables, which was very nice though the portion size was a little underwhelming , smallish tart ,a sliced potato and a desert spoonful of finely chopped mediterranean vegables on top of the tart accompanied with a small leaf salad. My wife faired better with her Braised Beef perfect portion size and quality.
The bread and Butter pudding was spot on highly recommended.
So all in all very nice Pub, very friendly staff, quality food and nice environment certainly will revisit.
V. d. M.
Absolutely gorgeous pub, nice outside area. The food and service are just outstanding.
J. P.
Lovely and clean looking. We had a meal for 16 in the conservatory. Staff very friendly and they were very organized with who was having what. (We did preorder) I had the goats cheese salad, presentation very good, tasted delicious. Then the Hake with spinach and creamy mash. The portion of Hake was just perfect. Apple crumble with custard. As I don't like custard I asked for it without. Given the number of us I thought it would be a problem or ignored. No all fine. However for me the apples were too pureed like baby food. I like crunch. But that's my preference. On the whole an excellent meal was had by all. However we did feel sorry for the only couple in the conservatory with us who were having a quiet meal for two until we showed up.
I. G.
Great Setting as you drive in to the pub. Nice decor and pleasant helpful staff.
Arrived early to have a few drinks before hand and found a nice nook for the 4 of us to sit in and talk undisturbed by the other patrons.
When ready for our booking we were taken to our table placed by a large bay window which would of presented a great view on a summers day.
The menu wasn't overload but was varied enough to provide plenty of options. The nibbles section was a nice touch and I very much enjoyed the the chipolata sausages.
Overall the meal was delicious and could not be faulted. Will definitely be returning.
A. v. E.
Fantastic service! Good food. A little squeezed in (Saturday night). Restricted vegetarian menu choice but I'm sure, if I'd asked when I booked, the chef would have accommodated me. It's that kind of place. Nothing is too much trouble.
C. D.
Sunday lunch here is really good. Its good to see a bit of diversity on a Sunday menu as well. Excellent efficient service and competitively priced for whats on offer. You wont be dissapointed on any level. The conservatory is very good for larger groups. Thoroughly reccomended.
J. H.
Went here as a large family group for their classic Sunday teas. Lovely all round time. The teas were scrummy and as for the cakes and macaroons, well, yummy scrummy. Recommended 😊
Only had 1 local IPA but the bar also looked well stocked.
M. S.
Just had dinner here, staff were nice but didn't really rate the food. Had peppers and bread and dip, that was good. Ordered the ploughman's and was disappointed. The ham was nice but that's all. The chutney was a cross between picallili and curry, not good, silverskin onions also not good. I thought it was very expensive for 2 slices of ham, mundane cheese, a bit of green salad, bread but no butter. All in all was disappointing.
S. P.
Came for lunch on the spur of the moment. Children's menu was varied and presented as beautifully as the adult main. The potato skins with goats cheese were delicious (this from a woman who usually hates goats cheese and gives it a wide berth). The banoffee cheesecake was a great way to end the meal. Fabulous as always.
S. H.
Excellent food and service. Tables distanced, so felt very safe.

C. D.
A lovely old pub with beams, busy very busy at weekends. A pleasant oak beamed glass sided extension to the rear with sheltered garden. Food is almost always delicious and cooked and presented beautifully. Last night a large filletted sea bream with Anya potatoes and seasonal vegetables at £15.50. My husband had pork chop with mustard mash, my sister local sausages on mash with seasonal veg and my brother in law a ruined steak at £20.50. It seems chef struggles to get steaks cooked to request especially on busy nights. Starters were huge price range £4.50 for lovely pea and watercress soup wonderfully green with huge chunk of wholemeal bread, yummy goats cheese, fig and pear salad £5.50 and my sister had a light bite of breaded cheese which were tasty with a mayo dip £2.50 but other starters were £12.50. Desserts were limited no mousse, no brulee, no pannacotta, no meringue and it was a hot night! The guys had Malva (butterscotch) hot pudding light and sweet with sauce and cream and my sister a small heavy chocolate pot very strong tasting with mango coulis (should have been raspberry didn't work with mango) and cream. The Blue Bell has hit the high spots over the past 2 years and prices are really creeping up. Vegetables are becoming fewer with sides being an almost necessary addition. Starters are becoming expensive and even puddings are noticeably increasing. Whilst necessary they could price themselves out of their healthy market! P!ease sort steaks two visits on the trot now and poorly cooked steaks.
N. S.
