Reviews of The Fitzwilliam Arms
B. R.
Great food in a traditional British pub setting with very helpful staff. Plenty of vegetarian and even vegan options on the menu, as well as very-low alcohol drinks for those who do not wish to imbibe.
We had the vegetarian Sunday roast, and a plant-based "Moving Mountains" burger. Both were very well prepared and tasty!
There's a good select of beer on tap, as well as ciders, and a full bar (with a nice selection of gins).
We saw lots of outside seating, and hope to be back when the weather is warmer, although we'll miss the great fireplaces they had going on this visit.

Have known this place for years but never been inside. We were quickly greeted by a friendly member of staff who got us sat in a prime location right next to the fire especially being so cold outside. The pub is very comfortable and warm the food was extremely good both me and my partner were truly blown away the menu had plenty of traditional pub food but also had plenty of other variety. The ribeye steak was cooked to perfection and the beef dripping gravy was 10/10. Sticky toffee pudding was just the icing on the cake. A really nice evening out just wish we'd known about this place sooner and will definitely be back.

We would like thank Graham and Linda from the bottom of hearts, for making our wedding reception so special. The effort that you all put, into creating a special atmosphere, decorating the place soo beautifully, the care, details, love and attention you put into our evening. Simply can not thank you enough. Our food was amazing, so thank you both so much, the whole team, as always, were amazing. You completed the best day of our lives and enhanced the day for us.

EXCELLENT meal - highly recommend.
Came to meet family for Sunday lunch - was very impressed with the vast menu choices and allergy accommodations.
Wonderful service from Linda our friendly waitress. Food was delicious. We opted for the various Sunday roast options - delicious flavors and generous portions.
Lovely atmosphere, with lots of nooks and crannies for intimate settings within this large premises.
I shall definitely return when I’m visiting the area again

Our first visit to the Fitzwilliam Arms but certainly won’t be our last. Popped in for lunch and received a warm friendly welcome. So much bigger than we had imagined inside. A large garden too. Our server was Lillie and she was friendly, professional and very helpful. We were impressed that we were asked did we have any allergies not many places do this which is so important. The menu had a good selection of starters, mains and desserts. I had the fish and chips. The chips were cooked correctly and the fish had flavour and the batter was light and not greasy. My husband had the Hunter Chicken which tasted great. We had Eaton Mess for dessert - wow a plate full indeed and very yummy. We never felt rushed and we had a lovely afternoon. Highly recommend.

Visited the Fitzwilliam Arms for an evening family meal.
Upon arrival, we were greeted by friendly staff who were attentive throughout our visit. The beer garden is very spacious, well kept and over looks fields where sheep graze which I found rather charming and lovely for younger children.
We ate our meal inside which again was spacious, tastefully decorated & furnished. A very pleasant dining area. We didn't have a long wait from ordering our food or in between courses, and plates were cleared in a good timeframe.
The food was exceptional. I ordered calamari to start, pork for main (which was devine) and crème brûlée for pudding. All 3 courses were of a very high standard and I would recommend trying any of them.
This pub really does tick all the boxes for me and we'll definitely be visiting again. A very pleasant dining experience. Lovely pub. Great staff & wonderful food.

The Manager who greeted us at the front desk was so welcoming. He made us feel so at ease from the get go and felt we had to give some nice feedback. The garden was beautiful with lovely little ponies at the back. Although the tables were full outside the atmosphere was relaxing and the staff were amazing and always smiling. The food was lovely and great value!
We haven't been before but we will certainly be returning often now! ☺️

Returning after a few years, same excelente quality and food presentation.
Very friendly and helpful staff.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!

The place was very busy so extremely pleased that we had booked a table. Despite the number of diners there were only a few unavailable items. The food was superb and even though they were very busy we didn’t think there was an unreasonable wait for our food and drinks. It was a very hot day but the restaurant was cool.
J. B.
Had a lovely 3 course meal here today. Went with my husband to celebrate some good news. Was not disappointed. Superb service throughout given by Paul and meal was out this world. Compliments to Paul and also to the Chef. Enjoyed every minute and will be going back.
P. R.
Lynda waited on us and she is the loveliest lady! She looked after us so we’ll and nothing was too much trouble. We visit on a regular basis and everyone that has served us over the last year has been exceptional. Thank you so much, also shout out to the chef and kitchen staff as the food is beautiful
J. T.
The restaurant is a bit hit or miss. It’s popular to attract a lot of business, but when it is busy, the quality of the service can suffer, so keep your fingers crossed! The menu is varied and usually has something for all tastes. It’s usually well cooked but the service can let the restaurant down. Value for money? Just about, yes, but a close call.
D. L.
Service and food are always impeccable. My family and I visited yesterday and Lynda served us, her customer service is brilliant, she makes everyone feel at ease. Loved the new alcohol free cocktails as well! We will be back soon
E. P.
Atmosphere, staff, ambiance and food lovely. We both had a starter and mini dessert. A great choice availability for that time of day and it was delicious, however we felt that it should have had a small amount of crusty bread or roll as otherwise lots of that delicious sauce would be wasted.
K. A.
Came for Sunday dinner for a birthday, had roast dinner and pudding, food was lovely. The meats especially well cooked, lovely fresh veg and plenty of it. Our waitress Linda was lovely and attentive. Would definitely come back.
G. M.
My husband and I enjoyed our anniversary meal very much last night. The food was great and the service even better. Our waitress, Chanel, was knowledgeable about the food and went out of her way to make sure everything was perfect. Thank you!
L. L.
Very enjoyable visit, good food and the service was exceptional and very quick, menu choice was good and reasonably priced but drinks a bit expensive. The Staff were all very friendly and helpful, we sat out in the gardens which were lovely and the food was served very quickly and was lovely we had the Kedgeree fishcakes and Orchard tart for pudding. We will be visiting The Fitzwilliam Arms again soon to try the Sunday Lunch.
A. H.
My family and I had a lovely meal with some of our extend family, that are visiting us from America. From start to finish the service was brilliant. Linda was friendly, polite and helpful. I would total recommend going to the Fitzwilliam Arms if you’re looking for somewhere to have delicious food in a nice atmosphere.
V. T.
Great atmosphere in this quaint pub.
The service was very good and Lynda did all she could to make sure our meal was pleasant.
The food was very tasty and well cooked.
A great place for a friendly meal or drink out.
R. G.
Excellent service (thanks Charlie)
Food great and good value.
Only down sides were not enough Dauphinois potato with the Beef rib
and not an option of Cheese and Biscuits on the desert menu.
However we will definitely be going again.
L. H.
We hosted a wake here and was very impressed. The buffet food was tasty and came out hot (a lovely change from cold, beige food). Nice and comfortable inside and easy parking. Would recommend!
K. B.
We had a delicious meal in beautiful surroundings but the best thing for me was our wonderful waitress. She was fantastic and incredibly good at her job. Her service exceeded the great food and location. We will be back!
R. F.
We took a walk around the village with our friends. We decided to swing by for a drink because it was a very warm day. I'm glad my friend suggested it, and we gave it a try. We appreciated catching up in the friendly and safe atmosphere.
J. M.
A bang average meal. Everything was lacking flavour, even down to the dessert custard. The pork belly was tough rather than juicy and falling apart. The side salad on the snitzel was five leaves of sad looking lettuce. It got us out for the night in a nice beer garden and the bar staff were cheerful and professional, but it's not somewhere we'd return to for food.
K. H.
Went to their new brunch service on Saturday and it was absolutely fantastic!!! Lots of options on the menu and the food is delicious! Even our toddler loved it and was at ease in the friendly atmosphere! We are already planning on returning next weekend!
L. B.
A great menu with lots of variety. Food was excellent and staff were polite and helpful. It was a Friday evening when we visited but the ambience was calm and unhurried. Will definitely return.
A. K.
Really nice food, nice to sit outside when the sun is out, however quite expensive for a pub!
R. D. L.
Hi.
We came tonight for a lovely meal. Very impressed with the food quality. Service was a little slow, but understandable but it was very busy.
However I was a little disappointed as before I booked I was told I could use the one4all restaurant voucher, but when I went to pay tonight.. I was told you didn't accept them! Maybe you need to clarify with your staff whether you do or do not accept them!
S. N.
Visited the Fitzwilliam arms this afternoon to try their new cocktail menu. Tried the passionfruit martini and French martini were divine. Staff were super friendly and happy given they were working in this weather! Super pleased with my visit and will 100% be going again soon!!
C. G.
The staff were ( and always ) super lovely . They really are welcoming and approachable if you have any problems . If I were rich I would give all the people who work at this place a pay rise ( I will become rich one day ) . I really do recommend the pizzas as they are the best I have ever had . I have had pizzas from Dominos , Pizza Hut , all kind of Italian restaurants . But the pizzas made here are superior to any other pizzas you can get . They are really the best pizzas you can eat . The beer garden is lovely to sit at in the summer . I love Graham and all the staff who work here as every time I go to this place with my family , it’s always the funniest nights with the fabulous most delicious home made foods , the drinks and the lovely staff. I really do strongly recommend this place :) it really is a lovely place to go to .
C. N.
Lovely atmosphere, kids food looked great, fresh and good portions but my steak was dreadful asked for rare was well done and so much sinu made it near inedible. To their credit they did refund on a gift card but couldnt to the bank card as didn't know how because we ordered from the app so a few teething problems still. I advise to order normal way if at all concerned.
J. S.
My friend and I had a lovely lunch yesterday. I had the starter of King prawn & mango cocktail for my light lunch while my friend had the Country chicken sandwich. Both were delicious and Lynda looked after us like a star.
C. S.
First time at Fitzwilliam Arms in Marholm. Food was well prepared and presented. Good selection of drinks, beers and wines. Service was attentive and friendly, thank you Morgan. All in all a very pleasant and satisfying experience.
P. S.
Another great meal again at the Fitz last night.
We ate in the beer garden this time as it was a perfect summers evening.
Paul, Charlie and the team were as welcoming as always.
M. C.
Friendly, fast service, great food, outdoor eating, pet friendly - he had a little doggie treat! Recommend a visit
H. W.
Millie was great, even though she was stung by a wasp. She just pushed through and kept on serving. Great service. Also, the tall man Grady was a very friendly gentleman and made me feel warm and welcome.
L. R.
Fabulous service for an impromptu Sunday lunch. Managed to accommodate 9 of us at a very busy time of day. Thanks especially to Paul for the hospitality he provided to us all.
T. W.
Very good service from the staff and a lovely meal. We all enjoyed the food.
N. R.
Good food, service very attentive and not overbearing at all, great atmosphere and lovely evening overall

Great selection of food and drinks. Team are very knowledgeable about the food and drink. Had a great time with you celebrating my birthday. 5 star service and fantastic food

Even though the place was very busy - the staff remained helpful, efficient and chatty, making us feel valued. The food and service was lovely.
D. P.
Wonderful country pub serving delicious food. The staff were incredibly cheerful, helpful and attentive, also they were very accommodating to our additional requests.
R. J.
Great food great service by Linda who made sure everything was just right, thank you Linda. Can't comment on the price as we haven't had the bill yet but everything seem reasonable when looking at the menu
G. B.
Have enjoyed a fantastic meal today for a private celebration my starter was Camenbert bites with Rosemary absolutely amazing tried my wife's mapel wings these were enthused with a sweet smokey taste that appealed to us greatly. Coffee was very palatable also tea was good. My Fish and chips were very light and fresh but also filling. I had the Stickney Toffee Pudding this does not let them down very well put together pud very sweet and filling. The whole experience was enhanced by Paul nothing was too much trouble well done Paul also all the staff behind the scenes. Thank you GB.
L. D.
Nice atmosphere, good service and good quality of food. I have been here numerous times and never been disappointed. 💯 recommend

Lovely pub with outside seating. Good range of beers but I found the menu a bit limited. Food was good though.

Two recent & very pleasing occasions spent dining in company at The Fitzwilliam in Marholm ! A warm welcome, swift & friendly service provided by Morgan & Chantelle & ideal food without a hefty cost ! Thank you.
L. W.
It was lovely and cool in the restaurant area, the food was beautifully cooked and service was excellent. Thanks for a lovely birthday meal.

Lovely meal. First time back after about 6 years. Great food, reasonable price and great customer service. Will visit again.
Been back since, the service and food was top draw. Thank you for such a lovely lunch

Two weeks ago I booked a table for eight friends to enjoy a 25th celebration evening meal. On arrival we were greeting with a smile and taken to our table. I had previously sent up table decorations and a cake to be brought out when we had finished dinning. The table looked amazing all my guests were thrilled. We all had different dietary requirement that was dealt with. All of the meals were lovely. The service was amazing. Lynda was the lady who brought over the cake with candle lit to the joy of everyone while singing happy birthday. I can only say a big thank you to all the staff who made this evening so special. I recommend this establishment to everyone. Thank you all so much.
L. C.
This pub has an amazing ambiance especially in the winter with the lovely fire. We love the Sunday lunch which is always great quality and amazing value for money. Staff always friendly despite being extremely busy. Genuinely feel that the staff want you to have a great experience - highly recommended
G. L.
Piped along for Sunday lunch. Superb meal backed up with great service. Looking forward to returning soon.
P. T.
We haven’t visited the Fitzwilliam Arms for quite a while because last time we were there the service was all over the place. We were in the area recently so we dropped in for lunch.
The service has certainly improved since last time. It was very good and the meals were reasonably priced with generous servings. All in all it was a very pleasant afternoon.
R. G.
Lovely local pub. Visited many times, mostly recently Sunday 24th October had a great Sunday lunch. I'll certainly be back.
P. C.
The pub and location are lovely especially on a summers afternoon, the food was ok as well

Yep visited Saturday 2nd April 2022. Very comfortable and warm welcome from all staff. Food was fab and a lovely atmosphere. Dogs are allowed in the bar area which works well. Would recommend
S. R.
Me and my fiancé love this pub. It's very cosy and welcoming. We visited on the 12th for the Valentine's meal and we were served by Lynda who was absolutely lovely. Food is always fantastic and the Atlantic pale ale is my fiancé's new favourite. Would definitely recommend :)
L. M.
We went here for a family meal, we were greeted with a very warm & friendly welcome. Even our little pooch was welcomed :) and He loved his treat too :) Thank You
The pub is well aired & very clean. Thank You.
We ordered drinks, staff are cheery & very helpful.
We ordered our meals and we didn’t wait long then our food arrived. But enough time for a little catch up, so didn’t feel rushed.
Our meals arrived with good size portions and the food tasted amazing too. Everyone ordered a different meal, and we were all very pleased with what we ordered. Presentation of the food was perfect & temp of the food was perfect too. We had a check back to check if everything was ok with our meals, again very cheerful staff.
Our table was cleared and we could finish our drinks. We had a walk round the grounds which were very clean and well maintained.
Thanks for the amazing food, amazing service and very friendly welcome! We will be back soon and look forward to our next visit soon!!
M. G.
Stumbled on this public house while travelling back from shopping in Spalding, and i would like to say a big thank you to all the staff, they made us very welcome even though we had'nt booked a table, and the food was fantastic as was the service, we will be going back even though its 40+ miles round trip! So once again thanks guys it was lovely 👍

A vegan menu - what a great surprise. We had lunch here today and was delighted to get a choice of vegan options. Would have given 5 stars if they'd also included a vegan option on the set menu.
b. f.
Very good food. Party of 12 at lunchtime. Friendly staff. Good range of options. Nice setting
L. L.
Had a lovely meal with friends. Food very good, and we were very well looked after.
M. P.
Had a really nice lunch. Staff were excellent. My Wife's meal was delicious (belly pork). My lamb shack was good, the only reason I haven't put 5 stars is because of the price of the deserts, my lemon meringue pie was ordinary. Oh and I nearly forgot the beer came up beautifully, I could of stayed for several more.
R. L.
Served by the lovely Lynda. Very attentive, friendly and informative, especially on allergies!
M.
Went there for a meal with my parents to celebrate my birthday needed a wider range of food and drinks (alcoholic) of course also my mum told the waiter it was my birthday but he didn’t sing me happy birthday (very disappointing) apart from that had a great time
S. C.
Used to be called the Green Man, not been here for many years but it's still great. It was a nice Sunday lunch treat without the kids
w. w.

Delicious food in a quaint setting with a rustic atmosphere.
K. A. K.
Great food, great atmosphere. Friendly staff
P. H.
Very pleasant place to spend a sunny afternoon. Great food and good beer.
N. S.
First visit to this local Vintage Inn was very pleasant. Online and telephone booking is straightforward, and an introductory voucher for 50% off main courses was honoured. Traditional decor and a decent menu; well presented, hot food and an engaging waitress made for an enjoyable lunch. Central heating problems were obvious, though an open fire was lit. Good parking and reasonable prices. Recommend the Beef Bourguignon and Fish Cakes with Poached Egg.
S. G.
Went here for the first time and was pleasantly surprised. The staff were helpful and friendly, they also had personality which is great! The food was really good, we had the lasagne and the house burger, both were delicious and would recommend. We would happily eat here again. Well done to all that work here. Waiting times for food were minimal. Really good experience.
P.
Fantastic Sunday lunch with friends, friendly staff great food, great setting.
D. L.
Excellent meal and we were lucky to be accommodated without a booking. A little disappointed with the real ale, Abbott, ordered, suspect the barrel was coming to the end. We will be back for soon but with a booking.
P. T.
Lovely quaint pub, fantastic food and very friendly staff. We will be back!
C. T.
Lovely country pub great food with good service and friendly staff
T. V.
Another delightful addition to the Vintage Inns group of pubs. This chain knows it's market like the back of its hand and usually is one step ahead of the rest. I love how each one has its own character and maintains an excellent level of service from its staff. I've been to this one three times now and can say that it is of a great standard. On two occasions I had the pâté which is divine however the pork/ham hock should really be advertised as that rather than a duo. The pizza we had tonight was delicious too. But some fresh basil on all of them like the margarita would be a joy. Bases could have been a tiny bit crispier. Not too fond of the red onion chutney as I think it's overpowering but that's just down to my opinion I guess. Fantastic wine and drinks selection. Keep your menus up to date though as the oyster bay rose is one to be reckoned with and as of yet isn't on the main wine list! If you've not had the chance to try it please do. I'll be back!
G. R.
Good food, good service and great atmosphere ... loved it 😊
G. D.
Only went for drinks last visit because the spacious garden makes this one of our go-to places to relax on a sunny Sunday. But have eaten here several times before and I recall the food was very nice, too. Nice inside dining area, lovely garden, decent food, just a nice place to be.
D. H.
As always the food and service was excellent. We had the roasted vegetable soup and mushrooms for starters and pork belly and fish & chips for mains. Excellent.
There was an issue with the coffee bean machine but they still managed to make excellent Irish coffees using filter coffee.
Look forward to our next visit.
S. B.
We used the Fitzwilliam for my brother’s Wake in October this year and I would highly recommend it to others. The area we were allocated was warm, cosy and just right for our numbers and the staff were very kind and helpful. I was also very impressed by the buffet food, it’s standard was well above what I had expected, and was very good value for money.
S. C.
Great place, brilliant food, staff are so wonderfully helpful. 😊
S. H.
Fitzwilliam arms is such a lovely and quaint pub/restaurant with kind and welcoming staff. The decor is warm and homely and the food is absolutely wonderful. Been here many times and can not fault it.

We were driving past and thought it would be nice to get something to eat. The staff were very welcoming and friendly upon arrival and throughout our meal. The food was absolutely delicious, perfectly cooked and extremely well presented. I am more than happy to visit again and try more of the tastey looking menu. Thank you to all the staff for a great experience.

Tonight had a meal at the Fitzwilliam Arms ,Stamford Road ,Marham ,Peterbough PE6 7HX .The actual pub was lovely in fact really nice the garden was packed out ,we had a table booked for tonight the 25/08/2019 .Ordered starters then Roast dinner the food in my roast beef dinner was okay not wow the beef was very fatty under cooked as was never asked how i would like it .The potato was plenty full but very tough and what made the meal not good was the poorest cutlery the knife was blunt .Spoke with a member of staff who when i mentioned it pulled a face in agreement with me .Then we had drinks and desert in there gardens as it was so hot .For the money i spent which was over £60.00 could have been better the biggest spoiler was just after we finished the starters they came out with the main meal which really annoyed me .I normally would have said something but me and my wife have not been out as a couple since New years eve due to my busy work loads .So i did not want to spoil her evening ..
M. N.
Beautiful pub/restaurant. Staff extremely friendly. Very dog friendly and food excellent although in busy periods you may have to wait. But not a problem in this beautiful location

Visited on Friday night. It was very busy and they were short staffed but our drinks and food arrived on time. The food was excellent. Duck, beef bourginoine and pork belly all delicious
Service was brilliant lovely cheery lady who was good with the children
S. P.
Lovely pub, beautiful outside and very stylish and comfortable inside. Food is standard Vintage Inns fayre... probably a step up from average pub grub, but nothing special really. Staff were very busy, but we were in no rush, so quite acceptable. Altogether, a nice place to spend Sunday afternoon
W. P.
Sunday roast all the trimmings was very good and plenty of it, veggies a little underdone, but I like them with a slight crunch anyway
S. P.
Food good place lovely old type pub,

Went to the fitzwilliam arms today for mother in laws wake was greeted by friendly staff had a separate area to sit which was nice and cosy near the fire explained where the buffet food was displayed different snacks to suit most people lovely pub thank you for your hospitality kind regards beverley thompson
A. P.
Amazing food and brilliant service. Will definitely be retuning
G. R.
Very good experience. Staff were pleasant and courteous, service was good and the food was decent too. One thing I particularly liked was the lack of background music: instead, there was the gentle hubbub of voices in happy conversation - and all without having to raise their voices to overcome unwanted muzak. Well done to all the team: we enjoyed our visit.
H. M.
Lynda was very attentive and a perfect hostess! :-)
J. W.
Visited at lunchtime with family, two adults and three children. Service was incredibly slow. Luckily, the food was good.

One of the best places to go for pub grub, nice and sophisticated place.
M. G.
A fantastic traditional pub that serves the most amazing food. I ate the fishcakes full of the tastiest crab and lobster. The atmosphere was lovely, not overcrowded with lovely friendly staff. We felt very safe following the Covid protocols and will be returning again soon 🤗

Nice pub , good food .
Friendly service.
D. W.
Nice pub the food was first class and the staff could not be more helpful all in all a great night out.
J. W.
Great food and lovely staff

I had the best father's Day meal ever here. The food was amazing and service I couldn't have asked for more. Thank you Fitzwilliam arms. We'll definitely be coming back more often.
P. U.
Fabulous food and service and good atmosphere lovely location!
I. W.
Lunched yesterday with a group of friends prior to going on a walk . Pre-ordered meal to walk . On arriving for meal we were greeted by welcoming , friendly staff . Pre-ordered meal was served in a timely fashion . It was hot , tasty and delicious . Thank you for a good eating experience .
L. C.
Amazing food and the staff were extremely friendly, which made our meal a lovely experience. Will be coming back without a doubt!
M. N.
Helpful, polite and attentive staff, lovely atmosphere and always clean and tidy. Food is amazing value and unbelievably tasty! The trio roast in particular is amazing. Its our go to place.
T. F.
I would give it 3.5 rating if possible. The venue was quite nice in a pretty setting. The owners obviously put thought into the covid regulations and one way systems. However we got seated at a used table! Which was cleaned 5 minutes later of having our drinks delivered .. the food was pretty good but not memorable, the vegan option however was a real plus for my friend (apart from the Yorkshire puds which had egg in them). We had the Sunday lunch menu. For pub food I would certainly recommend it but not go out of my way for it. Having said that I was visiting my best friend who recently moved so do not know what else is in the area.
S. S.
First meal out since March/lockdown. We had a meal booked for Mothers day which was cancelled so we saved our deposit for tonight. Good to be back! Lovely meal as always. Katie our waitress was very attentive & friendly!! We will be back soon! :)
S. F.
First time here. Won't be the last. Excellent food and lovely staff.
T. T.
Service was excellent and the food was hot and tasty. Considering the size of our group, I was pleasantly surprised that all of the meals came out together so we could eat at the same time. The only thing that let the meal down was that there weren't more vegetables and people felt the need to be polite with portion size when serving up their own veg.
C. W.
Very friendly staff. Clean. Good food.
D. M.
Good old fashioned pub, very nice food for a quick and hearty meal, loved the Black Sheep ale...and seeing the Black sheep out back!
L. C.
Excellent food and service, we have been a few times, but always worthy of another visit.
J. M.
We love coming to the Fitzwilliam Arms with family and friends. The beer garden is excellent in the summer and during the colder months the inside is warm and inviting. With lovely staff, great service and a good rotation of real ales in pretty village surroundings, what’s not to love?
L. P.
I went for a roast dinner yesterday with my husband and Grandad.
Positives:
- Great customer service. We had a lovely northern lady serve us, think her name was Liz.
- Husband loved his burger
- Roast beef was great
- Didn't bat an eyelash when I asked for 4 gravy boats
- great location
- cosy atmosphere
Negatives:
- roast potatoes were a bit stale, hard to cut because they were so tough. Tasted like they'd been left out too long or something.
I probably should have said something at the time and I honestly think if I had, our waitress would have made sure it was sorted and brought out fresh ones. But being British, I find it very awkward and don't like to make other people at the table feel uncomfortable. Silly really, but this is an honest review.
Also, we were there at 3pm. I reckon if you were there at lunch time (12/1) everything would have been perfect.
We will return with my Grandma when she comes out of hospital and will book a Sunday lunch time table.
Verdict in short:
We will be back. Thankyou!
M. M.
I had a wonderful lunch with my sister and her daughter. We ordered the 2 sharing platters.
The food was delicious, a great variety of tastes.
The atmosphere was welcoming, warm and friendly.
I would definitely recommend a visit.
A. S.
Great atmosphere, busy and friendly. Attentive waitress Linda who got everything spot on and was great at her job. Food was nice, pudding a bit expensive though!
j. w.
Menu looked good but food didn't meet expectations, mulled wine disgusting and over priced. Staff lovely but food and ambience let it down
M. K.
Great service and friendly staff. Food is excellent
M. J. L.
Delightful to sit outside with a drink. Food is mostly cheap but not much to shout about. Snacks and drinks are pricey
Our last 2 visits didn't go well - having a frazzled FLY visibly on top of your pizza didn't go down too well. Or running out of wooden forks when you are having olives doesn't help, either.
Good service. Friendly staff. But need to look after the little details and to improve the quality of food served.
L. R.
Fantastic service. We got our food really promptly with very little delay between courses. Lovely, friendly staff, who made us feel welcome. Great menu with a range of dishes about £12-15 for mains. Highly recommend the calamari starter. I had a delicious roast and all the trimmings and my daughter had an enormous, perfectly cooked fish and chips. The duo of deserts turned out to be three items and that, and the prosecco cheesecake, were wonderful. Main course portions were huge so don't eat a lot on the day that you go! Sadly, we had no room left for the coffees or liqueur coffees. This is a relaxed, quaint country pub and also has outdoor seating. In the winter there are roaring fires too. Highly recommend.
T. E.
Lovely pub with nice food, only thing I would say is it's quite dark for eating
B. H.
Nice food, great service. the staff dealt with a technical issue with their card machines with aplomb. I would definitely visit again.
H. S.
Brilliant atmosphere, friendly staff, great food and a very warm welcome. I would highly recommend this place for a family meal. Thank you
L. C.
Great pub, lovely atmosphere. Good for children as a lovely grass area outside. Dog friendly too. Food has always been amazing. As with most places though id recommend a "toddler" menu as we paid for a full children's which is too big
C. K.
We visited it some days ago for dinner. The food was amazing, apart from the onion rings that were not good even thought that they were homemade but the portions were small for the price we paid. The staff was really nice and friendly and the whole area was nice and clean. It is a really nice and traditional english pub with great food but a bit expensive. I will probably visit it again mainly for drinks especially when the weather is good as there is a great outside sitting area!
J. H.
Nice food that arrived hot and fresh, expensive for what we got, service was ok. Unfortunately the restaurant was cold due to heating problems.
L. R.
Amazing food, lovely staff. Clean and nicely decorated. Garden lovely
S. L.
Excellent time, great staff, can’t wait to return.
J. W.
Lovely place, great staff... went to The Cuckoo earlier this week and similar story - what a let down and disappointment with their vegan menu which I was led to believe was launched last year. ONE main meal vegan option - and even that wasn't available at The Fitzwilliam, although they did do their best to ensure we had a lovely meal despite the lack of options. Won't be wasting our time and money at a vintage inn again. The lack of options wouldn't have been a problem if I hadn't looked Vintage Inns up on Google beforehand and seen all the info on their supposed vegan choices. PLEASE Vintage Inns don't say you have a vegan menu when you really do not. (I would give staff and venue 5 stars, but for the sheer disappointment, I'm giving 4).
S. W.
Went here for the first time on Sunday for an Xmas dinner for work. It's a lovely quaint pub and cosy! Would be really nice for a couple to sit and have some comfort food! I enjoy led the drinks too as I had Gin and tonic and felt the measures were great. Service was great staff were happy to help and all had a nice smile in their faces.
L. S.
Fantastic service. We arrived with a pushchair and they.fully accommodated us. Both food and service was superb 👌
D. B.
Went here for a meal on our 24th wedding anniversary had a lovely 3 course meal and a bottle of wine from their weekend menu.
The food was fantastic it was quiet busy when we arrived at 4pm and when we left at 6.30 it getting very busy so booking in advance would be recommended so that you won't be disappointed. I had prawn and lobster cocktail for starters rib eye steak for mains and chocolate brownie for dessert. I will be back soon
G. M.
Lovely homely pub with a roaring fire. Service was exceptional and the food amazing. Thank you
R. E.
Very pleasant decor, olde worlde , menu was unnecessarily complicated and food was ordinary, they are trying to make the food appear better than it was, pie was actually shepherds pie?
C. O.
Had lunch today.. friendly barman, told us dogs were welcome in bar area. We were welcomed and our dog received a bowl and biscuit.
The vege burger was delicious and the pulled pork panini was equally as good. Service was swift despite it being relatively busy.
Overall a lovely afternoon lunch experience.
N. F.
Just had a drink, menu looked lovely so will come back to eat. There is a lovely outdoor space to enjoy if it's not raining
r. w.
Visited many times..todays very special as it was our 55th wedding anniversary..staff very pleasant and curtious..took a photo of my wife and I ,to put on VI Facebook..wished us happy Anniversary. Delightful to see so many customers returning..one of our favourite venues..Roger.
A. P.
It's a vintage Inn and the food is up to standard, presented well, the pub and gardens are well maintained and the youthful staff are pleasant, courteous and efficient, I certainly will be going back, the best of the Vintage Inn group I have been too 😁
S. M.
Been a while since eating here. Food was very good although the vegetarian meal could have been warmer. Having finished the main course the waiter cleared all the other tables dirty crockery but left ours? So cleared our own table before desert arrived. This could have been better. Bar staff very good but a 175ml glass of wine at £6.60 is more like the London prices we pay!! Cosy, lovely and warm in the bar but the cloakrooms were absolutely freezing!! Overall good but a few tweaks needed.
J. M.
A very pleasant ambience and the building is full of character with lots of small areas allowing you privacy if you are in a group, out for a special occasion. Helpful staff and the food was good but not enough for 5 stars. My Pork Belly skin was not crispy at all which was disappointing but the Apple Pie was delicious. All in all a very pleasant place to eat and would definitely go back.
D. H.
What pity! The food was really good but we were sat on a grubby bench seat, the cushion covered in years of food stains, the table not wiped clean, the wine glasses stained and with sticky finger prints all over them and cobwebs in the corner. So much good work in the kitchen yet so little in the dining area. No one at the front of house seemed to really care. Why? We were dressed casually but two ladies came in dressed up for an occasion and sat on the same benches and it's mothers' day soon.
r. g.
They have a reasonably large car park with a few disabled spaces . Staff are always welcoming, polite and helpful. There are a large variety of meals on the menu including vegetarian. The kitchen staff are accomodating and can change elements of the menu within reasonable limits. There is a nice atmosphere. One problem is the table opposite the back door people go in and out to access the garden which can be a big pain as Invariably the door will be left open and it can be cold and draughty even on a nice day. Prices are on a par with most places.
J. W.
Always a lovely place to go , staff polite, helpful and friendly
J. H.
Our waitress Lynda provided excellent service
D. L.
Very good meal and excellent service will be back soon. Menu photo attached.
R. P.
Manager was very friendly. Pork belly was very well cooked
I.
Food by chef Paul and his team was as amazing as always, great job, will be back soon!
M. O.
Food was warm and OK standard, nothing special. The mash potatoes were awful. There is room for improvement in service, having to wait for drinks and service at the table. Some of the staff are not aware of the details of the menu. Some other staff were very friendly and welcoming. The location and beer garden are lovely.
C. F.
Enjoyed a family meal out here recently. Lovely food, decent service that we didn't have to wait very long for. The only disappointment was that they'd run out of eggs! So two of our party didn't get their gammon & eggs. Not good for a restaurant to run out of eggs at the beginning of a busy weekend. Still, we enjoyed ourselves in spite of it.
L. R.
A lovely place, with a great range of drinks and good service. We went for a wake there and were well looked after. Only problem was no phone service at all which is an issue if you want to phone a taxi, although I imagine the bar staff could help if you asked.
P. a. S. H.
Lovely place full of character, Sue I eat there with friends once a month approximately. Always friendly and efficient even when busy but service can slow down slightly.
Great food, a large selection of all our favourite tipples plus excellent real ale.
t. k.
Food was great .. service excellent even on a busy Sunday .. Will definitely be back soon
J. K.
Very tasty food and good service
j. p.
Some changes since my last visit, no longer "order at the bar and take a spoon" but proper waitress service. Seasonal change of menu, reasonable choice, but several items unavailable, which was disappointing. Because what we had was well cooked and presented, overall a good visit.
N. T.
Great food and lovely sitting by the fire.
V. P.
Lovely food and the lady waiting on our table was lovely.
V. E.
Nice interior, quick service and good amount if parking. We were in a group of 10 and they made up platters of starters which were absolutely delicious. The thick cut chips are just perfect- crispy on the outside and fluffy in the middle. Its a bit on the pricey side for peterborough on drinks but overall highly recommendex
P. B.
Excellent food and very good service, very friendly 😀.
Would definitely go back there again.
K. M.
Despite being a very busy Sunday lunchtime the service from Lynda was excellent. Some other staff were a little blunt but Lynda was excellently managing loads of tables and was very warm, welcoming and friendly. Food was good - we had a mix of the roast platters, burger and kids menu items. Desserts were also good with the dessert platter being excellent value for money and the sticky toffee pudding, crumble and chocolate ale cake being really nice. The only disappointment was the trio of bourbon/nut desserts which was quite small in size in comparison to the other desserts and given the price. Would definitely return though.
L. P.
Nice place, brilliant service. Perfect to spend afternoon with family or friends.
B. B.
We sat in the beer garden which was lovely with the hot weather and there was some shade from the trees. We ordered fish and chips from the light bite menu and drinks. My husband paid by card when he ordered and was surprised to find the bill came to more than we were expecting so he went back in to see why. Turns out the server had put down for main meal fish and chips which was more expensive and the Manager refunded the difference but we ended up with the main meal portion as the chef had started cooking it. The fish was huge with crispy batter and lovely white flakes of cod and the chips were triple cooked. Neither of us could finish the food but it was absolutely delicious.
S. H.
Great pub, with a quintessentially English atmosphere (open fire, exposed brickwork and ceiling beams).
We came here following a funeral with friends and family, and the service was flawless. The food was much better than I would have expected from a pub, and you could tell the staff had gone the extra mile.
The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and we had an enjoyable time and were not disturbed by other visitors.
100% recommended for all occasions.
A. N.
Incredible Spring Menu, Always Enjoyable!
J. H.
Great family meal. Staff, food and drinks all top notch.
G. C.
Love this place, we had our wedding reception there 20 years ago and love popping back now and then. As with everywhere these days it's more of a once a month thing than every two weeks.
A. S.
Called in late Sunday afternoon to see if they could fit us in for 'Sunday lunch'. We (me and my wife) were seated straight away, quickly ordered and the did was served in minutes. I had the standard roast beef and my wife had turkey. We were both very pleased with the food and service. The only reason for the 4 and not 5 stars is that a couple of months earlier we had an evening meal where we were not add impressed. But if they keep this standard up it'll go back to 5 star in the of value etc
M. C.
Beautiful cosy thatched pub with fires lit. Very friendly and helpful staff. Good food.
M. M.
Fantastic and very tasty food and staff aware of checking for allergens wich was fab as although non of us had any we fo have family who do so is good to know this and will be returning and come with family confident there allergies will be Catford for.
P. H.
Consistently very good food, especially the roast. However during a recent trip the service was lackluster, and extremely slow. No checkback, no additional sauces received when they were requested as the food came out, and took so long to follow up on desserts we decided not to bother.
Only docking one star though as this is the only problem we've had over multiple visits, and this was no fault of the staff on shift, they were working at a manic pace, clearly understaffed, so it's a management issue.
S. C.
Great meal last night for a party of 11,food delicious, staff friendly and cheerful, everybody enjoyed themselves, definitely worth a visit, please support them 🙂
H. O.
Lovely pub with a superb outside space. Just about 2 weeks after covid rules relaxed and I think they're doing a great job. Good food and service during a difficult time for the hospitality industry.
p. d.
Nice pub pop in for just drinks nice atmosphere
Not so good for food as overpriced and portions rather on the small side
M. C.
Class quality food. Lovely ambience and environment. Very covid safe. Down to earth friendly pro-active staff
V. B.
Lovely food, good service. I must go again soon. Confit of duck was smashing and ice cream with Irish li quer was quite something. VTB.
D. L.
Easy booking of the table quick seating on arrival. Waiting staff were good and friendly. The food was lovely and they ensured the kids food came out before the adults.
R. W.
Brilliant service brilliant menu and attentive stuff. Food is outstanding and not overpriced. Great selection of craft beers. Great for a cozy evening meal or a date night with the wife
G. A.
Just went for a drink in the sun, not very busy which was great. Such a lovely garden area. Staff were very nice
J.
This was supposed to be a 4 star.
Service great, lovely place but unfortunately the food wasn't great for the price of the Sunday roast.
A. B.
Food was lovely, perfectly presented and tatsed heavenly. Every visit is perfect! Thanks Team. Louise was the perfect host, thanks Louise.
S. S.
Add a family we had a lovely meal. Would highly recommend tbe lobster fish cakes! Service fairly timely despite being busy. Staff friendly as always. Will definitely return again.
S. R.
Lovely village style pub run by vintage inn. It's an old style pub with an outside seating area too. The staff are friendly and helpful. There's plenty of seating near to the bar and the bar itself ,curved, is spacious. Booking a table is advisable during peak times and this can be done easily online or by phone. The restaurant area is well set out and you're not on top of each other either. Menus get changed through the year and at special dates like mothers day and valentines Tec there are offers on too. The food is very well prepared and cooked fresh.portions are ideal and the cost reasonable too.
J. A.
Loved this place, glad we booked though very busy, food and service lovely. Only thing that was disappointing was it was our table wasnt very well lit, the meal was a Birthday treat and it would of been better with more light.
R. B.
Excellent meal and brilliant service, couldn't fault ar all
E. M.
The only problem we're the sandwiches which were dried out.
M. W.
All good. Had the pizza and it was very nice. Tables well separated for Covid, one way system in place, plenty of ventilation. They have put a lot of thought into it, good job.
T. P.
Excellent food. Excellent service. Polite, friendly staff. Lovely atmosphere even at midday. Much bigger than it seems.
L. M.
Very nice meal, good service
R. S.
Nice surroundings and good service from the waiters... my salmon dish was rather boring though and not many gluten free options.
R. C.
Love this place, so friendly, not pushy and don't feel rushed either. Food is delicious and staff are really lovely. One particular advantage is that it us relatively quiet too. Highly recommended.
r. c.
Called in today 16 11 21 for lunch pleasant staff excellent food and quick service even though the place was busy.
M. R.
Very nice food and a good pint. Although maybe staff should keep their "private" conversations for their breaks - we were able to hear all about someone being cheated on while pregnant whilst waiting for our food!
B. w.
Great Sunday lunch and very popular with diners, nice beer garden and plenty of parking.kid friendly plenty of options for beers and other beverages. Obviously a good restaurant is only as good as it's chef and other members of staff so at present and for many years before alls well and long may it continue.
L. M.
This is currently my favourite place to eat. The food is excellent and the Ribeye Steak is outstanding. I have visited several times in 2017 culminating in taking the whole family for Christmas Day Dinner. I am now looking forward to my first visit in 2018.
J. R.
Fabulous food, good portion sizes and excellent service (especially from the waiter who likes F1!) 🙂
L. C.
Beautiful characterful Pub. The food is outstanding and the staff are so welcoming
D. S.
Perfect and pleasant service as always!
S. G.
We biked to this pub from Ferry Meadows Campsite where we were staying in our motorhome.
My partner and I both had the rump steak which was excellent - that is the 4⭐️S.
However, I ordered a large Hardy's Chardonnay. We had to return this as glass was dirty. Not just stains from dishwasher but two dirty marks on glass. The girl behind bar could not find a clean sparkling one and had to resort to washing one under tap! Then there was the exorbitant price - £7.30p. I think, as pubs go, this is the most I have ever been charged for a glass of wine. The day before, I had a large Chardonnay in a Wetherspoon's pub for £3.80p - beautifully chilled and in an immaculate glass. I don't mind paying for a nice ambience but £7.30p is over the top. I mentioned this to very nice waitress who replied "funny that, someone sitting in your seat last week said the same. Unfortunately, we do not set the prices". Well, the Manager wants to give his Head office feed back. You cannot help but feel you have been "ripped off". An average price for a 250ml glass is around £5.50 to £6.00.
H. G.
Tasty pub grub cheers
L. D.
Good food, in lovely setting, and especially good value when the offers are on
A. N.
Went here for the Trio Sunday roast and it was delicious!!! And the best part was it comes with unlimited gravy! Haha!
J. C.
Always a warm and friendly welcome, open log fires add to the experience.
S. H.
Efficient good menu well done
d. l.
Went as a party of 14 for a late lunch. Staff were polite and well presented.
The food was perfect. I jad a mixed grill and it was spot on for lunch. My wife had beetroot salad and again said it was one of the best lunches she had in a good while.
Desserts were spot on too.
Doombar is a nice pint to boot.
K. D.
Good tasty meals - sea bass cooked perfectly - a little on the pricey side, but ultimately you pay for quality. Staff a little slow in taking our order, but food served very quickly once order taken.Nice homely atmosphere with log fire etc
K. B.
Absolutely lovely place! After an awful experience at another restaurant, we decide to leave and managed to get a short notice booking at the fitzwilliam. They were extremely accomodating with good food and lovely staff! Never had a problem previously either!!
C. T.
I've been here a couple of times and the food is always good and served up in a timely manner. It's a very busy pub and the service can occasionally feel perfunctory because of that. Certainly not a deal breaker and I will be very happy to visit again.
P. R.
When there on the off chance, very friendly staff member, accommodated seven of us, great atmosphere, and the food was really good. Would recommend.
K. M.
The food and friendly staff make this a great place which I always love to visit. Lovely ambience and location.
S. H.
Not been here for years , but will definitely be returning !! Service was great , food was good and promptly served *thumbs up*
S. L.
Went for lunch today. We booked online. Very safe/clean/SD & one-way systems in place. Staff friendly, food lovely. We'll be back.

Veganuary. As a Flexitarian I had to see if the promotion lived up to the advertising. We booked, were able to save 25% with the gourmet card too
We asked what alcohol was vegan friendly, we got a very prompt reply from Matt, the holding manager, advised that Tondeluna Rioja, Frexenheit Prosecco and Global Roaming Pinot Noir were vegan friendly, I googled to confirm, fabulous they are.
Katie and Louise served us, both excellent, food was superbly presented, packed full of flavour, falafel with the sauce delicious, spiced soup creamy, hearty and warming, lush burger, wonderful crisp pastry on the tart. And a nice apple pie, coconut milk sorbet more generous and better than pizza express too. To finish a Soya latte, and been here, not rushed but never ignored, just one of the best meal experiences we have had. Thank you Matt, Katie, Louise and the chefs too
D. K.
Great pub, great atmosphere and food, well done all around
G. A.
Great food and service. We had our meal inside and then went outside nd sat in the beer garden. Very pleasant afternoon. Good procedure in place for coronavirus.
A. J.
Tonight I had the 8oz rump steak with triple cooked chips, onion rings and tomato with a brandy peppercorn sauce.
The steak was thick cut, cooked medium/ rare to perfection and minimal grisel ... no fat. Serving the chips and peppercorn sauce in a seperate dish and jug stopped the onion rings and chips going soggy from the juices/ sauce.
Finished off with the blackcurrant and apple crumble with custard (and scoop of ice cream .... total decadence). Crumble topping not at all soggy, awesome pudding to finish with.
Service was fantastic, a real pleasure, congratulations to the chef and serving team, this was our first time and will definitely be returning.
L. L.
Had a great Sunday lunch at the Fitzwilliam Arms, food and service was great, very friendly atmosphere, we will be back to see you soon.

Great food. Lovely atmosphere and wonderful staff. Highly recommended.
H. S.
Very good menu, something for everyone. Friendly and helpfull staff with decent service.
Beautiful interior and a great beer garden for the summer days. Highly reccomended!
M. P.
Very nice, good food, service.
Inside of the pub very nice.
Can be expensive if your NOT on the government deal.
Worth a try.
N. B.
Friendly service excellent real ale
C. R.
My husband and I visited the Fitzwilliam arms today and we're pleasantly surprised. First we were greated by Graham like a long lost friend. We ordered our lunch and chose the baked gammon egg and fries, the baked gammon was served hot which was a pleasant surprise on a cold day. The meal was served fairly quickly bearing in mind a large funeral party was expected, but this did not deter the staff from their service to the rest of the customers. Graham the landlord still found time to explain to us that he only took over the pub last October and is trying to build up a good reputation after the previous occupants left. I think he stands a very good chance of that from what we saw of things today. Excellent service and excellent food. Keep up the good work Graham and the team and Good Luck. 10.1.17
S. F.
The staff are friendly and helpful. The dinner was delicious and reasonably prices. We where there at 12.30 and it was busy but not too bad. Parking OK but only three disabled bays. Would from experience recommend.
N. W.
Great food, nice atmosphere and friendly staff. 1st time we've been, will definitely be back
j. s.
Lovely atmosphere kind staff excellent.!
R. H.
Very pleasant ambiance, comfortable and really friendly. Food well presented and delicious... we thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Thanks to all the staff.
M. F.
Laid on a good spread for a family event. Quite a bit of queuing at the bar throughout Friday afternoon. Very friendly staff, just need one more of them. Plenty of parking and ample seating.
J. B.
Wide menu selection. Steak and chicken pies, lamb duo all good. Kids fish and chips needed more fish. All tasted good. Kid friendly for sure. Service was okay to good.
S. F.
booked a lunch last Sunday for 5 of us .it was my dad's birthday. you were highly recommended by my brother in law Paul. we were not disappointed. every thing from start to finish was 10 out of 10. thankyou very much for a lovely day. in fact Paul has booked for next Sunday for lunch. looking forward to seeing you then! thankyou Paul !! great pub!
d. t.
It was lovely the food was great and staff very friendly will go again
L. S.
Good food. Service a little slow.
A. H.
Very nice pub has a good beer garden and excellent food staff very welcoming and helpful had my dads 80th there and everybody loved the location and food. If you are tall like me watch your head when visiting the toilets as the building is a old thatched pub low ceilings.
L. M.
Popped here for lunch while working nearby, and I must say it was a pretty good experience - decent food, good value, although the service was terribly slow.
There is separate seating for the pub and restaurant, though as I understand it you can still order food in the pub area. The décor is typically gastro pub: looks traditional, with open fires and what seem like a lot of the original structure of the building, but all tidied up and made practical for the 21st century. It's a good balancing act, to ensure that it's both traditional looking but also modern in feel, and they've done well here.
We ordered from the lunch menu, which allowed for a starter at £2.50. My colleague and I both opted for the breaded mushrooms, which were excellent and served with a Stilton mayonnaise. The bite of the Stilton worked really well with the mushrooms, without overpowering them.
My main course was a pappardelle pasta in a lemon and chilli sauce, which I supplemented with a chargrilled chicken breast. At £9.50 I felt that this was a little steep; the chicken was rather dry and the pappardelle was overcooked, meaning the pasta became a bit of a gloopy mess. That said, the taste was pretty good (though I did not detect any chilli at all).
My colleague's southern fried chicken breast was also reportedly good, though again he commented that it was not as good as the starter.
All in all, though, the value was pretty good for what you got and I was pleasantly surprised by the bill coming to just £25 including half a pint of bitter and a bottle of sparkling water. The only other let-down was the service - it took nearly half an hour for our order to be taken, and the food took a little longer than expected. It looked more like the waiting staff were overstretched than anything else, as they seemed polite and helpful. I would certainly return, but not when I was in a rush!
S. H.
We were here for a funeral very welcoming and tye food was lovely too
D. Y.

Nice atmosphere, good food & wine although the price of my wine was a bit of a shock! Did find the service a bit slow as the evening went on.

Was here for a wake following funeral at the crematorium, just down the road. Very helpful staff, my wife is celiac and staff and kitchen coped with that with no fuss or bother, even brought her food to her. Happly got ketchup and mayo for the younger members of our party and were quietly efficient in looking after us all.

We had a family lunch in the beer garden and really enjoyed it. Staff was very pleasant and food great.

Lovely looking pub, a great place to spend a sunday afternoon. However the service can be really hit and miss in the restaurant. Food is either great, or just ok. Had more misses than hits.
N. J.
Fabulous food and service. Loses point for always running out of the interesting real ale every time I've visited. Awful, mass-produced Doom Bar takes up two handpumps bizarrely.
b. H.
Good quality food. very polite and helpful staff but service took over 30 minutes between courses on a Saturday afternoon and this was even when it wasn't busy in the restaurant.
C. R.

Not only do they stock my favourite cider on tap (Aspall) but the atmosphere is very relaxed and the pub garden is great to enjoy a drink outdoors. My brother and I often visit when out cycling and is well worth a visit.
