Reviews of The Windmill

Fantastic evening! There was live music on, which was brilliant!
The atmosphere/vibe was great, The staff were super friendly and helpful. The food was delicious and there was a great range of drinks and cocktails. Great outdoor area with lots of seating and dog friendly! A great local pub!
C. H.
What an amazing place. Was recommended by friends and it did not disappoint. We had the confit duck and pork belly for starters. Then the beef burger (double patties) and the sea burger for the mains. OMG!!! Absolutely awesome. Its the best burger I have ever had. Hopefully th pictures do it justice. Very affordable as well and I felt like napping after the meal. Plus they have a large play area outside where you can sit and watch the kids play. 10/10

Really......really! Good roast dinner! Clearly freshly made, perfect quantity, loverly relaxed atmosphere, nothing was a hassle or rushed.
I would highly recommend a visit! So much more than just a summer pub for the beer garden they deliver all year round.
Excuse the photo I was already well into it before taking a picture!!!

It's a great place for having a beer and something to eat while your children are playing in the play area. I had fish&chips and my wife Caesar chicken salad. Lovely, tasty and a lot. For dessert she had Brownie and I had sticky toffee pudding very tasty both. Good selection of draft beer. The only thing I didn't like was the cocky attitude of a very young bartender that I will only forgive and forget because the rest of the staff was lovely.
Thank you!
M. M.
Large Garden & play area..was there for a baby shower, so no problem for a large family and space, reasonable bar prices too and good staff communication and friendly.
S. A.
A welcoming pub/restaurant with beautiful, clean interiors and a mind blowing open space to keep children occupied. The food is very tasty and the portion size is very generous. The drinks menu is extensive. The crispy cauliflower starter is the ultimate. There is plenty of space to park cars. Suitable for all occasions.
A. B.
Great pub with friendly service. Huge outdoors area. Food was great. Staff were so helpful and went above and beyond.
A.
Moved to the village a few months ago from a lovely area with a friendly pub where we enjoyed the atmosphere and good people. From the very first visit to the Windmill we were welcomed and in a very short period of time, the staff and locals had names, and they knew ours. I honestly didn't think we could have have topped our last local but we never fail to have amazing time. 100% recommend!
S. C.
Visited here a week ago whilst staying at Ferry Meadows. Lovely pub, beautiful dining area at the back of the pub, although we had to stay in bar area because we had our doggies. It was a little quiet, but it could've been due to one of the hottest days in the UK ever! Delicious food and friendly staff. Lovely, thank you 😊
A. S.
Helpful staff, lovely food in a dog and family friendly environment. Excellent children's play area and good parking too
C. C.
Small but interesting menu options. Very well presented and prepared food and all very tasty. Good selection of Ales and friendly service. Great place to dine outside when the sun is out. Little gem of a pub to enjoy.
S. M.
A bit shabby.
Looks like this place was once really nice but has fallen into disrepair.
The play area is huge and still offers plenty of entertainment for the little ones but would benefit from a lick of paint and some decent carpentry.
The decking in one area looks like it's been bombed!
Inside, the décor is nice but is starting to look a bit tatty.
The food is of an excellent quality with a good selection of beers.
V. K.
I can't praise the staff and management anymore than 5 star, Excellent service, very polite and friendly. Great atmosphere in the pub even the customer's are friendly and chatty which is nice when you are not local. Will be highly recommending to other's and we can't wait to visit again.
s. b.
Nice place, good food. Free parking.
s.
Good experience, especially when you get to have a Christmas meal in March. No crackers on table, but we'll let you off. 😊
D. R.
The drinks, the food and the overall atmosphere of the windmill is great.
Very friendly and helpful staff, would highly recommend.
I have also heard the sunday lunch is great so looking forward to trying that.
And to top it all off it's dog friendly!!
D. M.
Really good pub grub with huge portions & great service. Small selection of local ales & all the usual drink options.
G. B.
Really really good, my little lad had a roast and was really tasty my daughter had a ceaser salad and was amazing, me and my wife had ham egg and chips and again was amazing. The staff are really friendly and had a good chat with the land lady's other half, definitely coming back
T. Z.
We have had an amazing ruby wedding celebration at The Windmill. Victoria, Katie and the team were fantastic and most professional. Nothing was too much trouble, organisation and food was superb . Thank you so much
J. K.
Excellent food reasonable price great service. We will be back. Phone to book a table inside or turn up and sit outside
C. C.
Yet again another fantastic meal and service ! We were made to feel so welcome! It is an ideal place for our family gatherings ! Great walk at ferry meadows , followed by warm welcome ! baby dog friendly and great play ground . Thank you !
k. R.
What a fantastic pub! The setting is beautiful and the staff make it a thoroughly enjoyable occasion every time you go. The atmosphere is friendly and welcoming, even for dogs! Highly recommended
B. H.
Family-friendly pub with nice outside area, appealing decor, and good service. I had their sea bass, and it was very, very tasty.

Lovely food and service. Sat outside for a pint and in the restaurant for a meal.
c. D.
We came here as part of a group from a select menu. The food wasn't that great from this limited menu.
From the outside and inside it is a very large pub/restaurant with outside park and ample parking. Good atmosphere inside the bar and we were sat in a seperate room. Staff are pleasant and the locals are very friendly.
C. R.
Had a fantastic private party at the windmill, the food was amazing all the guest were complimenting the buffet, the service outstanding and really reasonable prices will always recommend
S. M.
Great staff, great food! We did a quiz night and everyone was courteous and respectful, including the staff and patrons. Fairly priced, toilets were clean, and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. I'm definitely coming here again.
M. F.
Good quality food with innovative menu choices. Can't fault attentive service. Very good value and much more civilised than local competition. Play area a bonus for children
J. a. t. B.
When celebrating. 20 pounds for 3 courses and a private room is a good deal. Reeses (partly blind) working in the bar gave an excelent service. He served with a smile and was quick on the orders. They also have a swift and reasonable priced taxi service. The WIFI code should have been more visible and the meal could have been setves faster. But over all nice.
S. N.
A great range of drinks including a selection of local real ales. The food was excellent and good service in lovely surroundings. A pub to suit just about everyone.
c. r.
Lovely relaxed atmosphere. The antipasto, arancini, cheesy chips and beef were amazing. The pork was tender but no crackling. Sun dried tomatoes were inedible but that was the only bad thing.
K. B.
Great location lovley pub with excellent facilities for the children. The reason for the 3 stars was the meal I had. Unfortunately it didn't represent value for money. I ordered, chicken, avocado and pancetta salad with the addition of limp salad leaves. Which sounded wonderful, unfortunately it didn't reach expectations, the half of a plate I recieved was somewhat lacking in flavour care and finesse, not what I would expect for £14. To be fair it is exactly what I got exactly what the menu description stated although I would challenge the inclusion of pancetta they miniscule dice looked and tasted like regular bacon. I guess u can be the judge look at the picture I took after putting the dressing over.
I would like to think this is a blip and the chef may have been off the day I ate there.
T. T.
Great barman (new today apparently), good service and Sunday meal (roast beef). Would have been a 5 star but for the price being a bit on the expensive side for what you get.
M. R.
Yes my youngest daughter had her wedding reception hear very well organised allwalys been a nice place used to be my local still a good pint
E. A.
Below average food , ordered the pork belly slice for starters which was tasty but very small portion, for main had the beer battered fish n chips which the fish which wasn't the best had better from a bad chippy , service was ok though , it's a 3 from me
L. H.
Had surprise birthday party there. Excellent service and good food too.
Definitely recommend 👌
R. V.
Great meal had by all, well worth the price.
Lovely atmosphere and attentive staff.
J.
Nice, friendly atmosphere. The restaurant looks good, but we didn't have a meal. There's a large carpark and lots of outdoor seating. We sat in the bar. Plenty of tables with a mix of bench seats, stools and chairs. The decor is quite dark, but it wasn't oppressive. Lots of open windows so ventilation was good. The selection of drinks and beers included some interesting choices. The Landlord bitter was excellent and well kept. The food we saw being served and eaten around us looked tasty and we will eat here next time we visit. A nice place to have as your local.
A. S.
Great food and a fantastic atmosphere. Love meeting and eating with friends here.
M. D.
The first time I've ever visited the windmill and what a little gem I've found. A cosy bar area and extremely roomy restaurant I can't recommend this place higher. What a change it is to see somewhere with proper homemade specials, I opted for the giant sausage and mash and I was not disappointed when it arrived !!!!! If you enjoy hot, tasty food and quality service then this is the place to go
M. N.
A good time with colleagues to say goodbye to JoJo...the meal was filling and delicious.
Good service.x
S. P.
Lovely meal a bit pricey for fish and chips but everything is going up, drinks are expensive.
P. A.
Excellent outside area for a warm sunny evening.good play area for children and shaded areas too.good menu and food
M. T.
A really nice pub with excellent food and lots of space. Every dish served to our party of 15 was perfect. The staff were so welcoming and accomodating, made a 30th birthday celebration extra special!
W. P.
Attended the wake here and the buffet had something for everyone, not the usual dry sandwiches. The coffee was instant but it was good - better than I expected.
G. W.
Staff are amazing nothing too much trouble..definitely a place to go if in Peterborough
L. M. F.
Really tasty Sunday roast and continental IPA with friends. Starting up with antipasto was a great idea as well. Highly recommended
A. P.
First time been to this place. The meal was excellent and so were the staff .
G. H.
New owners are better than previous. Good selection of beer and ales.
R. C.
A really unexpected find! Set in the lovely surroundings of Orton Waterville, this pub is a real gem. The food is delicious with vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options on the menu as well, plus a separate children's menu.
There is a bar area that is dog friendly and a restaurant with unique decor, including a circular area set apart from the rest of the room.
The service was friendly and efficient.
There is a large car park and also a children's play area and outside seating. Would definitely recommend a visit!
D. W.
Very friendly staff, food was good quality at a reasonable price, can recommend this pub
D. b.
Really great food and great decor. The staff member who served our table was very attentive and quickly delivered drinks and food the table. It has a nice outdoor play area for kids so would recommend for families too
B. W.
Friendly staff and food is ok seating area outside if weather is nice
S. R. (.
After receiving shocking service at the Granary, we phoned here on the off chance we could get a table to eat at outside with the dog in tow. I am so glad we ended up here instead, well worth the walk up the hill. Beautiful food, friendly staff, cocktails, lovely seating area outside. Will be back next time we are in the area!
A. E.
Amazing staff, great food, lovely atmosphere. The customer service was outstanding. Great for having just a drink or the family dinner. Definitely recommend.
J. H.
Staff were so accomodating & patient to our party of 15 for a family 30th - food was great, service was EXCELLENT and lots of space for mischievous littles to stretch their legs whilst adults chatted. Couldn't fault it!
D. H.
Booked last minute on the 26th June 21, greeted by our waiter upon arrival. We enjoyed a three course meal, all served very professionally by the waiting on team. The food was excellent and perfectly cooked. It was presented in a appetising way.
Would recommend and come back if we were ever in the area again.
G. L.
If you want a good pint and a slap up meal with good service look no further.
We just had all the above and it was also very busy with Christmas parties. Thank you all very much for a lovely dinner and cracking pint (s).
M. F.
What a brilliant restaurant! Fine food, good spacious areas for young ones and very friendly and understanding staff.
T. S.
Tasty food, lovely staff and good prices.
S. B.
First visit to this lovely pub. Plenty of seating outside and a lovely kids area. The restaurant looked very nice but we sat outside on a nice sunny day.The food was lovely and the staff friendly and helpful. Will definitely visit again if in the area
A. S.
unfortunately i haven't managed to visit the windmill since the lockdown. the last meal i had here was exceptional the pub itself is friendly and offers a welcoming atmosphere. food is fresh and to a high standard, the food is priced fairly and affordable. the elderflower cheese cake was without a dault the best I've ever had.
Z. T.
Enjoyed a lovely meal here. The food was very good and portions were very satisfactory, we had the sea bass and the trio of pork followed by a crème brulé which we shared. The main reason I am writing a review is to compliment our excellent server, Kyle. We were well looked after from the beginning and checked on frequently during our meal. He was very accommodating to us splitting the bill. Very friendly and positive service, we would recommend!
J. C.
Great food good play area for the kids with a large outdoor space.
L. B.
Lovely outside area for children to play. Unfortunately no disabled or pushchair access to this area, lots of steps to climb.
Personally I found the food rather expensive for a pub meal.
Very friendly staff and Lovely service. A clean and tidy pub with a nice atmosphere.
C. S.
Cozy atmosphere. Owner made a point of speaking to each and every patron, and their dog. We just had drinks during the afternoon.
M. B.
Lovely family dining experience. We initially booked to eat inside but as the weather was lovely, and the children were enjoying the play area, they were happy to move us to eat outside. The meals were lovely and amazed at the great portion sizes. Will definitely make this a family favorite.
D. M.
Attended private party - function room absolutely ideal.
D. S.
Lovely outside seating area and great play area for children.
Unfortunately no disabled/pushchair access up to the play area. We struggle to take our bikes up the steps.
Very friendly service but a little pricey .
C. T.
Lovely staff, very accommodating of our large family lunch. Good was great too!
J. B.
My favourite local. Lovely atmosphere especially in summer when you can sit outside. It's quite a tranquil little spot. Lovely staff - very polite/cheerful, & helpful if you are disabled. But the best thing about this place has to be the food. If I could afford it I'd eat here a couple of times a week. A late lunch here, though a little pricey, is well worth it and nothing is too much trouble for the serving staff or kitchen. I cannot rate this establishment highly enough. Long may it continue. This is a little haven to me & I enjoy all my visits.
k. a. j. w.
Lovely atmosphere, friendly staff, excellant food and kids happily playing in the children's area and it was good value for money we would recommend the windmill
N. S.
a little pricey but beers are good snd food tasty
B. P.
Nice airy pub...really enjoyed my lunch there today.
J. K.
Nice location but serves soft mushy chips?
M. S.
First time ordering a Sunday roast. Cant praise enough. Absolutely delicious and served on real plates. Meal was still hot when we got home. Would recommend it and certainly will be. And will be making again
Y. H.
Very nice lunch. Food excellent and staff friendly
E. P.
Nice Park for the kids, though it was way too hot for the kids to use when it was around 25 degrees outside! So that's worth keeping in mind!
Looks like the outside areas could really do with some TLC, but nice area to spend some time with young families.
S.
Staff friendly and attentive, pan fried bass, Salted Caramel Cheesecake & Creme Brulee laced with Malibu. , tasty and great portions all fresh.
toilets clean, Will be back
R. S.
Service was good, food was great. Huge outside seating area with kids play area.
M. W.
Lovely decor but very slow service.
P. C.
I love this place. Staff are very friendly, and it is very nicely decorated. There is a kids play area outside, which is brilliant for the kids. Big enough to have fun on, but small enough you can't lose sight of them.
The food is very good too. Not cheap, but amazing value. The meals are all a good size, and taste great. The steak is amazing, and is always cooked to perfection. Our go to place for family meals even though it is nearly an hour away.
N. S.
Not good if you are a wheelchair user, you can't get up to the park area to watch your children/grandchildren
S. F.
Nice and clean, staff pleasant but the food wasn't great. Not a fan of the 'hand cut chips' and bones found in the fish.
K. L.
Sad occasion, a funeral but the management made us very welcome, ales and food very good.
S. W.
I was in a party of 6 for dinner, but others were joining us after the meal to celebrate a birthdays. The menu offered a fantastic range of "Sunday roasts" as well as a great choice of other meals. Personally, I opted for roast beef, which was incredible. Two huge slices of melt in my mouth tender beef, with all the trimmings and loads of the best gravy I've ever tasted. A really nice range of deserts, wines and coffees made the eating experience super, but the table-magician who came to entertain us for a short period, plus the lovely, efficient, helpful, friendly staff made for a delightful few hours. Five gold stars are not enough.
B. P.
Fantastic, the food was brilliant - very varied menu that switches season to season. Gluten free menu is brilliant as well, and food is really unbeatable. The location is lovely, and pub and restaurant are both really clean & well decorated. Staff were all friendly, barman in particular was a really nice guy, not too intrusive but friendly and polite. Definitely worth a trip.
T. M.
OK no cake to go with coffee but had cheesecake & tea instead £4.95 each.
Kids fruitshoop drinks £2.50each, rip off!! Boys enjoyed the playground though.
C. O.
Nice pub with friendly attentive staff. We were pleased with the number and range of vegetarian options. The decor is a bit weird but they can easily seat large groups and there's a piano to play around on so, hey, maybe the decor doesn't matter so much.
T. M.
Had works Xmas do here today. Food was very good but small portions. Only two roasties with the turkey dinner. I’m normally stuffed after three courses, but today I wouldn’t say I was still hungry, but I was nowhere near full. Not really what you expect for £26 (plus drinks). Also ordered a drink which took about 20 minutes to come (after having to chase it up) by which time my dessert had arrived, and beer doesn’t taste very nice after dessert.
M. S.
Simply wonderful. The ham and eggs were perfection, with the most delicious sides of cauliflower cheese and enormous onion rings. My only disappointment was my inability to finish it all. Staff really friendly, and a really homely atmosphere.
L. A.
Visited at lunch when it was very quiet. Enjoyed a fish finger sandwich and chips which was a little dry but that's my own fault for asking for it with no tartare sauce and not liking ketchup or mayo! Bread was lovely and fresh.
Pudding was treacle tart and it was beautiful. Prices a little on the expensive side but it was good.
P. T.
Under new management, so waiting to try the new menu. For some reason the pub lacks atmosphere, perhaps due to the bright lighting. The decor is pleasant and the is a great outdoor area. The serve real ale and a good range of other drinks. TV screen for sport / news and several board games.
M. P.
Really pleasant atmosphere and very cosy setting. The staff were fantastic. The venue is extremely accessible to wheelchairs, however mobility scooters would most definitely pose a challenge. Inside there is a rustic, classy feel with the decor being very tasteful, and there is even a piano that plays itself! The only negative was in the gents toilet, the toilet roll holder had given up the ghost, but the toilets themselves are kept well.
M. L.
It was lovely. The staff deserve every penny they earn(+ more). I do think a drinks menu should be available for customers though.
s. s.
Went last Sunday with partner for dinner couldn't fault it, yes maybe takes a little time but this new way of things is all new to us, give them a break they was fantastic. Me and friends and kids are going Friday , looking forward to it!!
s. r.
lovely food, lovely location, friendly staff
S. C.
Good food. Choose the sea bass.
A.
We (4 + dog) visited here for lunch. A very warm welcome and also dog friendly. We took our Labrador with us and he was immediately supplied with a bowl of water and made a fuss of. The bar area is clean and fresh, the TV was on in the background which wasnt loud or intrusive. When we visited it was reasonably busy. Food was excellent. We opted for burgers (beef, chicken) and the scampi. All arrived at the same time and were well presented and hot. The food itself was delicious. We will be back at somepoint and possibly try the desserts too! Definitely worth a visit.
p. l.
So nice to have personable service and home cooked food. The beer garden was great but the staff really made the visit worth mentioning.
A. M.
Food is ok, not amazing, but I found the waiting staff in the restaurant to be offhand and generally quite miserable on my last two visits, both of which were work organised events. I wouldn't come here for a meal as my first choice, although I've always enjoyed visiting the pub itself and found the staff on the bar to be welcoming and pleasant. The pub itself is very attractive, in a lovely village setting with Peterborough, and there's a great outdoor play area with plenty of setting for families.
E. R.
Food was nice but overpriced. Spent almost 60£ but didn't eat everything. Partners dessert (apple pie!) was so cold it hurt his teeth. Lovely pub with a good atmosphere - just too pricey.
N. H.
Lovely place, nice atmosphere, good service, we all had a beef Sunday roast, we were all a bit disappointed with the meat as it was a bit tuff. But other than that we couldn't fault it.
S.
Love the food friendly staff
s. t.
Called in for lunch today after house viewing with my sister in law. Very welcoming staff and pleasant atmosphere. Sadly couldn't do the meal justice more than enough on the plate had to leave some.
P. F.
The atmosphere is lovely, rage of beverages and food are good, price is cheap, 2 drinks, 2 mains, 1 starter, a kids meal all for under £40. the outside decked area it's a great addition, The play area is ideal for a range of kids ages if you can prize them away from their food and electronics, speaking of which the food is presented well but just typical pub food, it looks great I just wish it had more flavour to back it up. Would still come back.
S. R.
lovely village pub/restuarant , plenty of parking space and play area for the little ones as well as a large beer garden for the adults.
the restuarant had a stylish look to it, tables for couples as well as a round booth for a larger party.
The staff were very helpful without being "in your face" .
The menu has a good amount of options whether you prefer a burger or something more traditional as well as options for vegetarians.
I had Buddha bowl and WOW!! amazing , portions were very good and an option to add pan fried chicken, steak or crayfish if you didn't just want the salad in it..
desert.. well , all I can say is this place requires many more visits :) ..
prices are reasonable too.
The only negative was the lack of lighting leading from the beer garden to the car park .. can't say anything else bad about it..
Go on, treat yourself , book yourself and your partner a table and enjoy the Windmill
J. V.
Easter Sunday roast dinner was lovely. Plenty of meat, tasty roast potatoes which were cooked from scratch (not the frozen variety re-heated)! Plenty of vegetables served with the meal, we requested extra and they came at no extra charge. Desserts were a generous portion too. Good sevice, friendly staff, all at sensible price.
K. R.
A first time visit, very helpful staff, good selection of beers, and the meal was excellent. We were a party of 7 adults and children and we all enjoyed ourselves. Thank you.
G. S.
I was on a course and the organisers arranged an evening meal here. Nicely tucked away in lovely location. Great for everyone really. Looked like they had an amazing play area more like a play village for the kids. Lots of space for others to sit out well away from the kids area. Great food and for a Yorkshire man away from home to find Black Sheep and Timothy Taylor s on draught it was great. Will hopefully get to return again one day.
J. S.
Last visited a year ago and was really disappointed after coming here many times before when we were really happy with the place. Visited today on the off chance and were really happy that the windmill was back being a lovely village pub with very attentive staff and good food and drink.
S. C.
Great pub, I think it's under new management with the restaurant being separately managed. You can still get meals served in the bar which is great. They had a magician in the bar area when we went, which was great and it created a good atmosphere over the Christmas break
R. P.
Good food, nice decor, excellent service and a great children's play area - what's not to love?!
C. L.
Lovely food..nice and hot and good portions..ordered a Side!!..sooo not needed!!
Excellent service...well done team!!
e. k.
Nice modern restaurant, very bright. Large player area. Ordered the swordfish which was decent, staff very attentive. Friends had the cauliflower cheese which apparently was good too but never tried it.
G. V.
Kids love the play area, and we always enjoy the food and drink.
Staff are friendly, and we'll be back again soon!
A.
A great and amazing place for all occasions, meeting up with friends, family, colleagues and also a good place for events like bday party's, celebration's and then also weddings and funerals.
I highly recommend going to the windmill pub because the customer service is one of the best I've had ever.
D. L. (.
Very nice and very clean would recommend
D. T.
Great local pub, nestled away from the main road. Good food and the function room/restaurant is especially good for family events: wedding receptions, wakes, birthday meals etc.
Not too cheap, but not unreasonably pricy either. Clean, fresh and cosy decor and furnishings (it had a full refurb a few years back, and they did an excellent job).
All in, a solid choice for a more upmarket pub with decent food, good beer and a relaxed atmosphere.
P. D.
To all who doesn't yet know where to go this will clear your mind a little bit.
We have booked a table for 16 people at this resturant. Very straight forward and done on the phone within 5 minutes.
No deposit was needed. Only confirmation of menu for chef to prepare food on time.
When we arrived the restaurant was prepaired, table decorated as we could not imagine better. Staff was there waiting for us to make sure that everyone feels comfortable.
Suddenly food apeared on our table. On time. Big up for the staff for this. Everyone got their meal in no time and no hassle.
Food was great. Just great. Big portions and the taste. Simply amazing.
Even kids ate all theier meals, and it is not easy to archive with sunday roast.
Everyone was very friendly and ready to help us with all our needs.
Many thanks for their hospitality.
Highly recommended for any occasion. We wil be there. Many, many times.
C. B.
Used to love the bar menu here. Really disappointed when they changed it. No jacket potatoes (which were amazing) now, and the food on the menu has changed quite a bit. The staff are lovely and worked off their feet every time we come, just wish we could have the old menu back!
S. G.
Good place, lovely surroundings. Our waiter's mind was else where. Not listening, having to repeat ourselves, incorrect orders. Food was lovely though. Drinks didn't arrive until staters after a prompt for drinks.
E. E. R.
Always good at the windmill. Great climbing area for the children so you can sit and chill. There is areas to sit in the sun or in shade.
j. j.
Fab food!!! Fab staff!!!
But didn't see any social distancing amongst staff. Thought staff would be wearing masks. No screen at the desk. The toilets were grubby and handles felt dirty when touched.
E. J.
A great venue for a party
Lovely decor and great buffet food.
J. C.
Great dog friendly pub, lots of seating and outside play.

The food wasn't great, and the beer I wanted was off. But the amazing playground out back really redeemed our visit. My children loved it.
D. A.
Great venue but bloody expensive.
E. V.
Really nice food and lot of space. The pub, the restaurant and the outside are all very nice. Great place for a lunch during a sunny day. Tasty sandwiches, the ham was a bit dry, fair prices. Recommended.
K. W.
Nice little pub, food was ok nothing special. Also on the night I was there they only had one person behind the bar serving that meant it was taking a while to get served.
T. S.
A pleasant pub with nice staff. The restaurant part is stylish and quiet, the pub is more vibrant and is surprisingly cosy. Fast service. The play area at the back makes it a place where you can come with kids.
S. T.
The staff at The Windmill were absolutley amazing for my friend's Mum's wake last Friday. The food was fantastic and the spread was presented to Silver Service standard! Jo and Matt and the rest of the staff are to be commended for the professional service they delivered on such a difficult day. The venue is beautiful and clean and will highly reccommend The Windmill to others for an event or just to have a dining night out. Well done!
N. W.
The bar staff are brilliant. My daughter had an accident on the Jungle Gym and the first aider literally ran over with the first aid box, checked her over and couldn't have been more attentive and caring. Such a lovely guy too.
D. S.
Brilliant service, brilliant food and made to feel safe and relaxed under the current restrictions we are in. We will definitely be back very soon.
N. H.
high priced food for what you get and not to many choices of drinks. has an amazing outdoor play area for kids but sign said must be a customer to use play area so when I took my son in to get a drink i was surprised to be told he was not allowed in the bar this was at 4pm. I said how do I become a paying customer if I cannot leave my child unattended in the play area and not bring him in with me. at 4 yrs old I do not want to leave him by the door near the road. was no very happy with his response so let my son play quickly before leaving.
B. W.
After looking for a family friendly pub with a play area we decided to try The Windmill. Wow. The food was fantastic, the beer was fantastic, and the beer garden is outstanding. Will definitely be making many more visits in the near future.
K. B.
Popped in for a quick bite to eat while the kids burnt some energy in the best pub play area in Peterborough! The food came out quick and was lovely. Lovely girls lunch, with lots of gossip while the kids had a great time.
e. g.
Adorable countryside pub in the middle of one of the most beautiful streets in Peterborough. Conveniently located, only 10 minutes away from Ferry Meadows, makes a wonderful end to a beautiful walk. Amazing garden with a spectacular playground for kids (you can enjoy the wine while they play). One of these places that should be made national monuments. The only con is that it is a bit pricey (for a pub). Otherwise, just amazing
p. z.
Nice place, ordered sandwichs and chips as a snack, tasty but expensive in my opinion. No prices on the menu outside the pub, inside the staff were friendly and polite, food was hot but not a lot of it for the money, clean inside and toilets were fresh too.
P. G.
Nice meal and a good drink. Will go back again for sure. Well recommended.
S. W.
Great pub and also has a lovely boutique hotel. We stayed for a couple of weeks over summer and it was superb. The proximity to the park and the playground was really beneficial. Recommended!
L. M.
Food was delicious...and so much of it!! A great choice of gluten free product on offer too. Staff were very polite and friendly. Will definitely return...
N. G.
First time at the Windmill and very nice too. Very comfortable restaurant with great service. Good food, good wine. Already planning to go back with friends knowing they will enjoy the experience. Good find!.
T. B.
Staff were friendly, food was okay but nothing special and quite expensive for what it was
B. A.
We had a large group meal.30 or so of us. I had a gammon main and it was delicious. A good and vibrant venue.
P. H.
Always great food. Really varied menu and a choice of a relaxed pub or formal dining experience based on your preference.
Highly recommended 🙂
C. E.
Friendly service, good simple pub food, very generous portions.
C. M.
We regularly visit The Windmill as it's wins all round for us. Good beer, food, and a fantastic play area for the kids. Can easily lose hours there while the kids play! See you again soon 👍
N. R.
Service excellent. Had a meal and drinks very busy because lockdown eased.
W. 2.
Amazing place. Can't wait to visit next time. ;)
D. K.
Their session ale is excellent.
J. P.
Not really sure about the deserts I had couple of days ago. The Ice Cream was more rather than frozen vanilla snow flakes. Not creamy at all. Even my kid who is an Ice Cream monster didn't finished his.
E. B.
Great staff, good atmosphere, did not have food but looked good.
T. B.
Great staff and wonderful food. Would like to go back in summer to enjoy the huge garden. Perfect for kids.
a. m.
Wow, this is what a pub should be like.
We organised to have my girlfriends 30th birthday at The Windmill for a bbq lunch. Inviting lots of family and friends.
The pub is great for the children with a large fun play area.
Plenty of parking.
We hired out the restaurant area which is well decorated with plenty of comfy seats.
The quality of the food and service is clearly being driven up passionately and professionally.
This pub surpasses any other pub in the area.
Thanks Hannah and Andy
M. P.
I've eaten here a couple of times and each time food and service has been really good. It's a very friendly welcoming pub.
T. B.
Only called in for a drink but was a great beer garden, well organised for orders and friendly staff.
J. M.
Performed for a 1st birthday party and it was amazing, really nice venue!
S. G.
Lovely place to eat, nice atmosphere and great food. Fantastic outdoor play area. Staff not always friendly.
M. S.
For the price you pay, you get the most amazing food ever. The staff is super friendly. I would really offer anyone to visit place you you want to get the best quality.
P. T.
What a great place to eat and drink the menu is great value and the service is brilliant
g.
Lovely little village pub. Menu is a bit fancy for my tastes but looked great all the same and reasonably priced
T. M.
Nice little local pub. Staff are friendly. Love the our side seating area & the play park is great for the kids
A. J.
Absolutely love it here. Lovely staff, great food. And in the summer they have best children's play area in the area.
R. E.
A year ago this was a posh, expensive pub and the food was flamboyant and well presented, now it is heavily frequented food standard has slipped but is still expensive. A sign of the future ? Ron
M. B.
Great pub. Lots of good beers and a great atmosphere! Darts going on in the bar, and a watercolour painting course going on in the rear restaurant.
M. F.
Great pub, great food, great service, what more could you want,
J. J.
Food was really nice, staff were helpful and friendly and we didn't have to wait too long (we were a party of 3). I'll come back again someday.
M.
Excellent meal. Staff were very friendly. Lovely portions and made a nice change from the usual chain restaurants.
S. N.
The food and the beer were good. The Bahman was extremely helpful, could not have been better. Unfortunately delivering my coffee in a chipped and cracked mug really spoilt the experience.
p. b.
Excellent food, good portions. Pie had so much chicken in it was stunning. Quiet restaurant, makes food and service at the beefeater look dredfull
j. c.
Came boxing day, meal was great
J. L. T.

F. M.

d. w.
Great pub. Friendly staff who looked after us. Large portions of well cooked food. Fish pie was amazing.
J. G.
This is a nice pub/restaurant in the heart of Orton Waterville. The food is good although they have unfortunately stopped doing the sausages and mash in a giant Yorkshire pudding.
s. c.
Menu choice is a bit limited, no light bites such as sandwiches. Grades is amazing and a lovely park for the little ones to play in x
A. J.
A nice meal in nice surroundings, though menu a bit smaller since last visit and sweet portions looked a bit smaller as well ,overall a nice time was had
S. E.
Nice pub, friendly staff & good food
R. S.
The Value for money is outstanding. Yes it may seem a touch pricey but 100% worth it, if not 120% :) The staff are extremely professional and friendly and the restaurant is very nice indeed.
O. I.
Lovely place for a meal and quick drink, massive play area for the kids. Menu could be better though.
K. V.

B. W.
Went to have a meal here with progressive property deal packaging team well organised delicious meal totally enjoyed the venue, meal and atmospher staff were efficient and friendly
L. C.
Very overpriced for basic food, snack menu no longer available for cheaper options at lunchtime, chips under cooked, dont understand why food is served in card board boxes, Other restaurants still use plates during these times.
J. C.
Had a lovely meal with a great menu, wish we lived closer so I could go back and try some other dishes
D. L.

Amazing gluten free menue, staff are very friendly. The only down side is the management need to learn some serious people skills.
P. J.
Lovely place with helpful, friendly staff.
B. D.
Family love it here. Great food, kids really enjoy the play area although it's a tad on the expensive side.
D. T.
Good food. Friendly service. Fab huge outside play areas for small and large children.
S. J.
Great food, my only complaint (and it's only a minor one) is it took longer than originally told to get the food but was worth the wait (and staff let us know)
M. T.
Great food, friendly helpful staff and a good selection at the bar.
P. H.

G. H.
Super food especially the giant Yorkshire dinner
