Reviews of Eddystone Inn
h. w.
Stopped in here after walking from Wembry to Heybrook Bay on a very chilly day. From first walking in to leaving was a lovely experience. Very warm coming in due to the fire burning. Very welcoming atmosphere with dogs welcome. Staff were very polite. Price was very reasonable. We had the Eddy Burger. Was absolutely stunning. Would highly recommend going here whether it's stopping for some lunch after a walk or even just going out for a meal.
M. M.
Me and my husband had a lovely meal at the Eddystone Inn when we were staying locally. Would recommend to others eating here. Perfect location to go for a coastal walk and then for a meal afterwards.
A. L.
We always have family catch ups and reunions here, great views, great light, fab service and good food, of which there is great choice, followed by a walk. Whats not to love?
S. Y.
Booked in advance, an hour before. We sat at a lovely table, really nice sea views and had fish and chips. Tasty food and service was fast. Queue to order was a bit slow as there is only one person at the till doing both ordering and drinks. Suggest to use a handy app to order and pay for food to avoid crowding in the queue.
L. W.
Had Sunday roast dinner.
Bit of a long wait but food was good and nicely presented with selection of veg. Great location of course with view of the bay.
S.
This is beautiful pub with great view on sea, food was freshly cooked and ambient was perfect for family outing. If you like walking you can walk from here on well marked costal path. Pets are welcomed and there is also terraced area if you prefer to enjoy fresh sea breeze. Highly recommend to visit this hiden gem.
T. T.
We had lunch here last week. Fantastic views. Friendly staff, excellent food, what more could you want? Definitely go again.
M. F.
One of the nicest Sunday dinners I have ever had. The staff are lovely and made us feel very welcome. Thank you
s.
On a week's holiday we spent a few afternoon's and an evening here. The staff and food were perfect, not a single complaint from the 6 of us. The building and decor was beautiful, along with exceptional view's.
M. B.
Stopped here for a break on our coastal path walk from Wembury Beach. Lovely location with stunning views out over the water. Open veranda is fabulous location for sitting, eating, drinking and relaxing. Friendly efficient staff. Good food.
N. M.
Had a evening meal with the wife. Food was okay, not brilliant but they sat us in the main bar area. Few locals came in and started to have a conversation with a few F bombs thrown in for good measure. Not something I wanted to hear whilst eating our meal and with an empty restaurant area we could have sat in. Views are out of this world so would recommend a visit for sure. But if you want a nice meal ask them to sit you in the restaurant area

What a find!! I walked the beautiful coastal path starting at Wembury beach, 45 minutes later I found the Eddystone Inn. A beautiful inn, stunning panoramic view of the sea, great menu, great coffee. They even had gluten free oat milk! You can tell the owners and managers really care about their inn. It’s beautifully tastefully decorated, spotlessly clean and there’s water bowls everywhere for dogs and a hose to cool them down too! The owner was really friendly and showed me around even though they were closed. Highly recommend a visit- they’ve got it spot on!
N.
Brilliant service and relaxed atmosphere. Not a long wait at all either. The sea bass was delicious, and the mussels were the tastiest I’ve had in ages. Will be back soon.
Update: Did not disappoint on return!
W. E.
Great location....food was excellent great value and friendly staff...will be visiting again
W. S.
Excellent. Staff were very attentive and friendly, food was delicious and the view was amazing. Need to book for inside tables, outdoor tables first come first served.
F. B.
This pub pleasantly surprised me. I'm not used to small town pubs being this good at everything they do... This pub is located overlooking the sea with some great views, I can't imagine how nice it must be during the summer (we visited at the beginning of November). They have very friendly staff, a nice clean area bar side where you are welcome with your dog, but where they really excel is the food. Of course you get the usual pub classics however, you can see (and taste) that they actually care about their food and the service they provide. We've been to the Eddystone twice already, both times trying different dishes and we are yet to be disappointed. I can't stress enough how good this place is and I can't imagine the effort it must take to keep this level of quality, so kudos to the staff and management and please, keep up the great service!
N.
Great service, lovely food & great beer 🍺 lovely views, was the only one that wasn't shutting early. Life saver for an out of towner.
M. W.
The staff were very helpful and polite.
The food was incredible but do not expect it to be cheap! This place is very calm and quiet with great views and a great selection of drinks. Great for special occasions.
S. C.
A really nice lunch in a fabulous location!
C. A.
The food was simply delicious! Perfect Sunday roast, friendly staff, what more could you want. We would highly recommend and would love to return.
C. T.
Beautiful location and great food
P. R.
Anywhere that gives out free food is good with me. OK so it was some spare roast pots and Yorkshire puddings but it for me gave a sense of the well run pubs view on life. Great people nice. Clean pub brilliant location with clear views out to sea and of course all the way to the lighthouse, namesake. Service smiles with speed. Stuff on all week. Worth the drive out.
C. H.
Amazing food! Recommend booking to get a table, worth the walk there from national trust.
J. B.
Wonderful service by Richard the FoH manager!
Incredible views of the sea!
Was delighted to be some of the first to try their new vegan menu in its first stages! The mushroom risotto was quite nice and the succotash was very tasty.
Their chips are also very good if you like a skinnier, crispy, crinkle cut, kind of chip. I enjoyed them quite much!
Three desserts to try from for vegans at the moment! 2 ice creams/sorbets, (they get different ones in here and there), and a panna cotta. The winner from this trio was definitely the chocolate orange blossom ice cream though! 🏆
Would love to come back to try the rest of the vegan menu for sure!
M. T.
Alright place, beer OK, staff friendly.
Check before going if you require food as the web doesn't match what they do.
Also, like any pub, you get the odd local d16khead, this one has a rugby fan who'll insult you if you are different to him.
K. R.
Lovely sea views and good service. They've recently refurbished really nicely. This place in on the up and worth a visit, and combines well with a walk along the coast path.
If you use their car park make sure you let them know your car number plate, as parking is for pub patrons only.
A. D.
Wonderful friendly staff, amazing views across the cliffs & sea.
Post Corona only doing limited fish & chips shop style menu , great chips , served in boxes with wooden knife & forks.
GREAT place to come at the end of a dog walk around Wembury View Point.
N. W.
Fantastic location, staff very helpful and friendly the food was amazing very good quality and full.flavour. the hole restaurant is so clean very nicely done highly recommend definitely will be returning.
J. C.
What can I say ? Excellent location , most excellent staff and lovely food. Have just celebrated my partners retirement there with an evening with meal and drinks.. loved it all
N. A.
Cracking food , lovely attentive staff . Great place to eat for celiac sufferers a fair few options and great food , I had the fish and chips , fish was absolutely bloody huge (Biggest piece of fish I've ever seen served in batter ) , chips were some of the best I've ever had , loved the chocolate sponge pudding fir dessert too . My wife loved it too , not the cheapest place in the world but this truly is a place where you get what you pay for .... value for money ........totally !
I. R.
Fantastic service, great gluten free menu, felt really happy eating there as a coeliac and it was delicious too. Would return
I. M.
The "taste of the sea" dish (pictured) was particularly great, and deserts were delicious too. Table service was a bit patchy but staff were friendly.
K. H.
Visited with family for my mother's birthday lunch on Sunday. Food was delicious and service was excellent and the view wasn't bad either.
Highly recommend and will definitely be back again
S.
Wonderful food. Lovely staff. Fantastic location. Would highly recommend a visit.
A. R.
Went for a friends birthday meal as we all live locally, great food and great service as always Gaynor, Kasha and Keira were fantastic and very accommodating. Would highly recommend!
N. K.
Great food, friendly and helpful staff. Absolutely breathtaking views
K. A.
What a trip down memory lane.the place is out standing.the staff are friendly and helpful.the meals are the best.and the view is just beautiful.
K. H.
Lovely food. Welcoming staff and atmosphere. Lovely views out to sea.
E. L. S.
Beautiful views. Amazing food. Felt like they skimped a little on the veg for the roast. We were a table of 4 and were given the same as the tables of 2 🤔 bit cheeky. But couldn't fault the taste. Would go again, just don't be so tight next time guys. Veg isn't even the expensive bit! 🤣
K.
Good portion sizes for a reasonable price. Lovely location right by the sea, and there is a great atmosphere inside. There is a restaurant area and a pub area. The service was slow on the most recent evening we ate here, but they were very busy and, on the whole, the service is relatively quick, and all of the staff are very polite. My family have previously ordered soups, tempura prawns, fish, gammon, lasagne, burgers, dirty fries, etc., which have all been delicious.
J. M.
Haven't been there for years but was pleasantly surprised by the decor and the quality of food. Friendly staff and the view was to die for. Plus dog friendly with doggy treats on the bar.
P. B.
Such an amazing setting, with views of headlands and marine activity. Friendly, efficient service and excellent food including vegetarian and vegan choices.
Heavenly.
T. B.
Great pub with indoor seating and plenty of outdoor seating. We had lunch and it was great. Will be back for a full evening meal.
C. M. W.
Lovely food friendly staff with delightful scenery.
l.
The women working behind the bar and all the waiting staff were lovely! There is one taller chap with glasses who seems to be in charge, who was incredibly rude. He talked through me, as if I wasn't there, to a staff member behind me, when discussing my order and saying how it wasn't available as they'd sold out - in a really narky tone to the staff member who placed the order, rather than a customer-facing, apologetic tone to me.
He was also quite okay with saying narky comments/being argumentative with stagf around other customers.
Food was okay.
L. B.
Great view! Pub is a bit of a military operation though. Not too relaxed but to be expected with the amount of visitors they must get.
A. B.
Lovely views, nice food and friendly staff. We walked from Wembury all the way round to Heybrook Bay and on a whim popped in here for a drink which led to some lunch. It did not dissapoint the food was lovely, great little place.
R. J.
Pub with separate restaurant though meals are served in the bar. Food is excellent and plenty of it. Large balcony where you can sit out and when the weather is sunny you can eat out and enjoy the view over Haybrook Bay.Dogs welcome in the bar. The Eddystone Inn is situated only a few yards off the south west coastal path so is ideal for a refreshment stop if your out walking.
S. W.
What a lovely place this is now! Beautifully refitted, friendly service and excellent food!
G.
Lovely setting with great views. A friendly pub with excellent food
D. H.
Nice pub with a lovely view. Well worth a visit
G. M.
Excellent food great hospitality friendly with a warm environment.
R. M.
A pub in a magical place to enjoy a good time and the views are wonderful ... I recommend it for nature lovers.
J. C.
We went to the Eddystone inn and had soup of the day for starters, it was supposed to be spicy butternut squash, unfortunately it was the most bland soup we’ve ever tasted. It was it worth the cost at all, we were most disappointed. The main course was ok. But overall disappointed. Was recommended to go here by locals, but wouldn’t go again.
M. S.
Nice stopover for lunch. Lovely food, great service, clean and Covid-19 friendly.
R. C.
Bit soulless, food was fine, struggling for staff so no food on the sunny terrace outside on a lovely evening
m. f.
Well, what a view. Our family of 10 had a beautiful meal, plenty of veggie vegan G/F options. Actually, it was a revelation to have pub food that didn't feel like it was bought it chilled and heated up again. Lovely pint of Tribute. Excellent all round, friendly staff.
And the view. Can't be many better than that.
S. K.
Great views of the sea. Warm & friendly good food
m. m.
Good food good service great views a must to visit
K. T.
Very decent food, friendly pub, great terrace, fantastic view
T. C.
Beautiful gem with exceptional views, didn't have food just popped in for a pint. Lovely staff to.
R. G.
Would have given 5 stars but I was starving and the food took awhile. When it came it was stunning great portions excellent quality of food both dishes where amazing nice friendly staff and great views!
G.
Lots to love about this pub. Decor is good, and staff are welcoming and friendly. Like most similar establishments this one is leaning more on the restaurant side versus pub grub. Prices reflect this, hence dropping one star.
Good ales and cider, and the views out to the Eddystone lighthouse are stunning.
S. P.
It was our first experience of Eddystone Inn. The view is absolutely amazing a shame we booked in the evening but will definitely going back in the day but not just for the view. The food was good and we were served by Jenny who looked after us all evening. She was lovely, polite and made sure we enjoyed our experience. I fully recommend eating there with such a friendly and relaxing atmosphere it can be enjoyed by everyone.
D. M.
Great location with a lovely view, good food and friendly staff. Highly recommend!
A. H.
Amazing view, excellent food, great service. The portion of the food is questionable. Ask the waitress about the portion of the main course and said she said normally people don't finish it,well when you serve the main course and you give 2 really thin beef slices it is barely something. That is something to work on.
C. S.
What a find! Lovely views, large carpark. Nice friendly place to be
K. I.
Beautiful views, great service and luscious food.
S. B.
Sunday Lunch was probably the best we've had.
And lovely view too. Highly recommended.
n. w.
First time back here since refurbishment and what was a 9•5 /10 pub is now a definite 15/10. Crisp clean cloudy cider, awesome views from within the bar area and especially the balcony. Ample parking available, book ahead if eating Sunday roast. Highly recommended.
S. B.
My meal was disappointing, chips without potato inside! What's the point? I've given 4 stars as the roast looked fine, which my friends had. Friendly knowledgeable staff. Reasonably coved friendly, although no one took my details, I don't have the app. I'd go back for a drink, as great views. This is the second time I've been disappointed with the food.
K. E.
Lovely meal last night sat outside. Jenny served us and was so friendly and helpful. The cod and crab dish was delicious and plenty of options for our vegetarians. Will definitely be back again.
V. U.
Great place , great food , and even greater staff
L. A.
Best chicken pie I've ever had. Lovely fresh vegetables and buttery mash on the side. We walked from Plymouth along the coast path and this was exactly what we needed.
C. H.
Amazing food, amazing view!
P. O.
Very enjoyable meal fast friendly staff veggie nut roast was one of the best I have tasted
K. M.
Very nice food, great portion size, friendly staff and ofcourse beautiful views
D. M.
Was fantastic, lovely modern pub, good food and unbeatable views over the ocean!
G. B.
Well the eddystone has had a face lift since we last visited very nice had a nice pint worth a visit nice staff a very nice place
J. C.
Unbeatable stunning views. Get the feeling customers' might be an inconvenience at times?
A. M.
Every bit as good an experience as my neighbours had reported!
E. C.
Lovely food, great service and very friendly, helpful staff. Would definitely go again
C. W.
Went to this pub on a whim 2 weeks ago with my girlfriend fantastic food best roast ever staff were so attentive great service cannot fault this place would definitely recommend can't say enough about how good it was definitely 5 star
A. G.
Lovely place, lovely food and most of all lovely staff. It's great to see people still taking the covid situation seriously and Eddystone have done so much to ensure the safety for their customers and staff. Also the food was delicious and very well priced. A prime location on any day, with a warm and inviting feel. Can't wait to revisit.
5 stars all day in my opinion.
J. J.
Lovely place, great views, and great food. What more could you ask for. Could of stayed all day, maybe next time
C. H.
Went for a pint after a beautiful walk, was lovely views.
C. H.
Lovely meal, amazing views. Friendly staff.
t. j.
Beautiful little pub tucked.away over looking the sea. Fantastic food and drink available. Staff are welcoming and helpful. Well worth a visit day or night. Walkers, dog walkers all are welcome, a little difficulty for people with disabilities but achievable.
E. C.
Wonderful views. Two large outdoor seating areas on two levels. Partner's chicken burger was good and my starter of baked camenbert was large enough to have as a main
P. h.
I ordered the duo beef - highly recommend! The beef is cooked absolutely stunningly!
Misses ordered the eddy burger - top notch! She loved it and I liked the look of it so ordered it the following night.
The mother in law ordered fish of the day and throughly enjoyed her meal.
We visited the Eddystone 3 times whilst holidaying in the area, once just for a pint as we didn't have masks was asked to go outside to drink.
We returned the following night for a sit down meal with masks this time and Jamie and the whole team were really accommodating, all in the visit was great and we all enjoyed ourselves and had been well fed!
The following night we had a take away, we preferred the food over the other pub in the local vicinity and again the team at the eddystone were really great and accommodating.
The views are fantastic and I dont think you could get bored of that stunning view rain or shine.
Thanks Jamie and team. 👍
M. O. O.
A pub thats worth the walk. Brilliant location for a pit stop along the southwest coastal path.
A good selection of ciders and local ale on tap.
Plenty of outdoor seating so you can take in the view.
T. P.
We had a perfect evening out. Very enjoyable food and on top of this stunning views. Thank you for the lovely service!
C. S.
Beautiful place, lovely views and great food. Generous portions and friendly staff.
B. H.
Our first-time visit to the Eddystone Inn, we hadn't booked for dinner but were still accommodated by the friendly competent professional staff, our food was excellent and the atmosphere was warm and inviting, we will definitely be going back, keep up the good work guys and girls.
M. B.
Took a walk to here along southwest coast path from Wembury beach and well worth it. Simple but wide choices of dishes to cater for all, regardless of appetite and all reasonably priced. Great sea views and plenty of outside seating when weather permits. Could imagine busy when not suitable to sit outside. Would highly recommend
J. M.
Had a lovely meal. Would come back again anytime.
H. M.
Walked from Wembury beach along the coastal path to this delightful Inn and enjoyed an amazing Sunday Roast Beef followed by Homemade rice pudding. The service was friendly and attentive as well as efficient and you could tell the Chef had put a lot of time and effort into creating the delicious meals on our plates. Not expensive either and all with a sea view. Highly recommend every aspect 👍
J. S.
A great place for a drink overlooking the English Channel watching ships passing by
D. G.
Great service, Food and Views.
H. “. H.
Fantastic mussels. Even had gluten free bread roll, which was delicious. The two members of staff that looked after us were brilliant and made us feel welcome
R. H.
We had quite a long wait for the food, but our server was very pleasant. The food was okay (really liked the black burger buns!). In a beautiful location so thoroughly enjoyed our after dinner walk along the coast.
A. B.
Great place to spend an afternoon in the sun. Clean and modern looking inn with awesome views. Staff worked hard and kept everyone happy through these troubled times. Food from a limited menu was of a high standard and almost everyone was eating. Will be coming back in the near future...
P. C.
Popped in for a lunchtime beer - walked in from Down Thomas. The walk was lovely, with stunning views of the rugged coastline and beautiful sea. People are friendly in these parts - even the builders working on the houses en-route said "Hi!" The lovely weather really helps!
There were a number of local beers on offer at the Eddystone Inn, and I asked about them, but the gentleman behind the bar answered in monosyllables - don't think he was meaning to be distant but neither was he making an effort to be welcoming... I noticed buckets around the place, so asked the barman if he might put water in one for my dog - he promptly sent me back outside again to where I would find water myself! Service didn't appear to be his forte!
The building itself is uninspiring, but the clientele are warm, friendly and chatty. The food, although I did not have any, looked incredible! But, it is for the views of the coast that people must come here, I would imagine. I took a seat outside on the terrace and looked out to sea, sipped my beer and took in the wonderful view! It is lovely!! This I would recommend.
M. S.
Lovely pub, great food,we had partridge, very well cooked, cod and crab ,very tasty, above average pub food with fantastic sea views.
L. R.
Amazing, tasty, nicely presented food! Definitely a place to go. Lovely view, and a great service. We pre-ordered as we had a large group and it all went seamlessly. Excellent choice of menu in a beautiful setting. Will be returning soon!
A. T.
Would like to have given a higher review but after paying restaurant prices for food from a very limited menu it was served in a cardboard box with wooden cutlery with which we struggled to cut our broccoli. Had I known I wouldn't have ordered or at the very least taken our own cutlery. As we left we noticed those sat indoors were eating from plates and silver cutlery, the price you pay for wanting to enjoy a sunny evening and the lovely view. Sorry won't be returning for food during these difficult times as we could get a takeaway and sit anywhere along the coastline to enjoy the views. Five stars for the chicken and choritzo pie though!
K. D.
Very friendly and excellent bar. Cocktail anyone?
T. N.
Nicely decorated venue with good distancing between tables. Food pretty good. Fish, chips and scampi, chips, burger chips all well presented and hot. Well worth a try.
A. C.
A lovely meal. But closes kitchen a bit early.
Y. V.
Nice place to Shopping in Oxford, with a complete range of facilities.
M. M.
Great food and not too pricey. Great view!
M. M.
Went here for my 50th birthday meal with family. Everyone enjoyed their meals and the service was amazing. Will definitely go back.
a. m.
Good pub with indoor & outdoor seating. Wonderful views over Plymouth and the open sea. Good selection of food at reasonable prices. Only downside is the steps if you are less mobile. Also a wonderful stop off for those on the coastal path.
D. M.
Food was OK, staff were not that outstanding, but wow.. what a veiw!!
Really worth going here if only to sit and have a drink and look out to 180° sea veiw.
P. S.
Can't beat the location with amazing sea views from the main terrace. Food & ales are good, as is the service. Covid19 precautions in place. Had steak baguette on the weekend, which tasted great, but a little on the small side. More a baton than a baguette. The coleslaw was served in a mini condiment paper cup, so barely a mouthful and not really worth serving tbh. Nice to see local Burts crisps being served. Definitely worth a visit.
J. M.
We ate lunch and dinner here and both were delicious. The sea bass was fabulous. The staff were helpful but not intrusive. Highly recommended.
U. M.
Very good service love the friendly atmosphere. It has an amazing view over the sea and close accessibility to the sea via many beaches. It is covid safe and I will happily go again
R. B.
Great sea views from the bar including the famous Eddystone lighthouse
A. V.
Great location with friendly and helpful staff. A choice of four proper beers, all local.
The food was a little disappointing being let down by a couple of cheap ingredients. The Cheddar cheese in a Ploughman's was flaccid and tasteless and the ham egg and chips was let down by poor quality ham.
However, the chips were great and amongst the best I've ever had.
r. b.
What a transformation, a really great pub with fantastic food and attentive service. Cracking sea views. We will be back.
I. S.
Good food and service, amazing views
M. S.
Beautiful location overlooking the bay. Great Sunday lunch, lots of seating available. Staff helpful and friendly with prompt service.
J. M.
Loving the new decor and lay out, very friendly professional service. Delicious food and good selection of drinks. Happy to be back! Thanks
S. P.
A great pub with beautiful views and a very cosy interior including sofas and a fireplace. The beef and chicken burgers are AMAZING. Decent portions and a varied menu. Compared to run of the mill pub food it is a little pricey but definitely worth it! The almond creme brulee is a winner too. Friendly staff and reasonable waiting times for food, we'll definitely be back.
K. P.
Absolutely brilliant service. My team were sat outside after a beach clean for charity and they opened the pub early to let us get warm. Food was also excellent. I shall be returning soon with the wife.
M. D.
Great dog friendly place. Food is always lovely.
J. M.
Not many pubs with better views than this one, plenty of good outdoor seating overlooking the coast. Food was good and reasonabley priced also some nice beers. Well worth a visit if your in the area.
A. H.
Lovely food, staff and atmosphere would recommend. Great views
M. A.
An excellent, intimate, pub/restaurant with stunning views and a great range of food and drink.
Don't order a cup of tea at the bar, though. They bring you a cup of hot water and small, weak teabag-on-a-string in a packet. You have to dip it in yourself.
That's not the way to make tea, people.
H. M.
The location is stunning and generally we've always had a nice time here. Tonight. sadly not so great, maybe not enough staff or staff that didn't really seem so interested in the job they were supposed to be doing. Bar staff serving all the locals or well endowed females first, food well a bit hit and miss tonight which is not like this pub. Cold mussels and poorly cooked duck with super salty jus. We will return because we know it can be so much better. All the tables were booked maybe a few more servers who want to work would help
S. B.
Booked large group. Were asked to pre-order food due to size in advance. When we arrived they didn't have any knowledge of order. Also asked for a child's chair when booked but none were available. Food was good but let down by rest of experience
K. G.
Waiting half an hour to even be able to order a drink. Managed to catch a waitress as she went past. Lovely views though
A. G.
Stunning steak and stilton pie of the day!
M. T.
Fantastic food, with friendly and helpful staff. Also with beautiful views.
A. M.
We went for Easter Sunday lunch. A beautiful day and an amazing view. Lovely food and staff. A really great place to eat good pub food outside whilst enjoying the fab scenery over Heybrook Bay.
J. B.
Food was lovely, service was good. Could have done with a bit more coleslaw as it was delicious and a few more chips. And a great view to top it off.
L. L.
Food was delicious, shame about the service. We left in the end without ordering desserts or coffees as the waitress never came back to finish clearing the table or bring us the dessert menu's.
g. W.
Very nice pub, good food, pleasant situation with some sea views from outside seating, big car park.
D. W.
Lovely food, great place and staff are very friendly. Would highly recommend
J. D.
When staying at Bovisand for a week, we came here for a few meals and a great evening of live entertainment with an Irish Band. The bar food was good and the new owners were very welcoming and we felt right at home. There is a great outside balcony with the most fantastic view. If you like to walk it is located right on the south west coast path and is a great place to stop for a bite after building up an appetite walking the coastal path.
D. C.
An OK pub in a good location. Came here for some food on a Friday evening, asked whether they were still serving (8.30pm) and if they had a table. Waitress wasn't sure on either counts so had to check, then confirmed they were but didn't advise on whether we had to go to a specific table or just pick one. After asking and being told to just pick any, we went over to one that had yet to be cleared but expected someone to come and clear it, but no that was ignored so had to clear it ourself.
The menu was extensive, full of the pub classics, but nothing that really jumped out. Edged our bets on the lasagne, and it was OK, but nothing special. We had some chips on the side as an extra, and I think the lasagne may have been on the small side on its own otherwise.
The pub lacked character, and the majority of the waiting staff were in their late teens. It felt more like a chain restaurant like harvester than what a country pub on a beautfiul, secluded Devon Cove could be. The prices were in line with the service, quality and ambience though, so there were some upsides.
C. M.
Fabulous revamp to decor and the food has improved immensely. The staff are all more friendly and efficient too. Moved the pub from good to great. Well done Eddystone 😊
A. J.
Good food and local ales, friendly service and a wonderful view from thee outdoor seating area.
L. M.
Fabulous location, and then the food ! Oh my. Service and food both absolutely terrific. Absolutely recommend a visit if you are anywhere in the area.
R. W.
Fabulous setting and good range of drinks in a newly refurbished establishment. Only serving baguettes and pizza at the moment due to covid but both were great.
M. A.
Stopped here after walking miles on the coast path for Sunday lunch. It was a meal to remember with views of the sea and lovely food.
P. M.
Excellent service. We arrived on a busy Sunday lunch time without a reservation. A table was quickly found for us. We had a lovely Sunday lunch and give praise to the very friendly and attentive staff
k. h.
I booked a table for 21 people, some from Edinburgh,Tamworth and the rest from Plymouth. Everyone enjoyed their good which more or less came out at same time piping hot which was excellent. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We would all recommend the Eddystone.
K. F.

I have recently moved back to Plymouth over a decade living away.
I have visited the Eddystone several times over the years, and it seems to have had a few different owners with limited results.
I was pleased that the latest owners seem to have made more of it than previous. We have been a few times and found the staff friendly and attentive, the food is good, the atmosphere relaxed and what is not to love about that view!
D. G.
We went for breakfast. The food was well cooked, the view is fab and the staff friendly.
J. S.

Perched on the hill overlooking Heybrook Bay, The Eddystone Inn made a perfect stop along our walk from Wembury, in July. The food was tasty and really hit the spot.
Service was good and despitealmost being blown away by an approaching storm, we left satisfied.
R. M.
Lovely pub on the beautiful Devon coast, close to an excellent walk that can take you around to Wembury via the South west coast path.
