Amazing home made mulled wine! Had a carvery was very tasty, would have liked more gluten free options (stuffing etc) but it won't stop us going back.

Upon arrival we didn't know you had to book a table on a Sunday, however we carried on n asked if they could squeeze us in, which they did, the staff were really friendly helpful. The food was top notch, the beef was heavenly, I will book next time. We will be back ❤️

The roast was very tasty, the bread and butter pudding was like my late Mum's recipe. The staff went out of there way to be helpful. The prices were very good value for money. But not a lover of the nicotine stained beamed ceiling, Or the tatty wallpaper.

We're return customers to this place for their great carvery. Beautiful, melt in the mouth meat with a good choice of vegetables, trimmings and sauces. Beef is not my choice of meat, but theirs is so well done, it's a delight! The lady doing the seating is very helpful, she always knows which tables are becoming available, and is very accommodating. And to show how prepared they are (see picture), an entire gammon and beef joint came out around 7 pm, and they serve till 8. Be happy to return again and again.

(Detailed review below) Food ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Ambience ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Accessibility ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Cost ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Service ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Summary ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Food - I am reviewing the farmhouse carvery, but they have a good menu selection also, and they cater for vegetarian people in the carvery (nut roast). There is a choice of (or combination of) two meats - usually Beef & Gammon along with all-you-can-eat vegetables and gravy. The meats are succulent and often melt in your mouth. The roast potatoes are crisp outside and fluffy inside. The gravy is lovely and thick. 5/5 Ambience - Due to its popularity, Sundays are sometime crowded and there a waiting time for a table. You cannot book in advance, but the wait is usually quite short, depending on the size of your party. The atmosphere is of an old farmhouse pub and there are no TVs or music. 4/5 Accessibility - There is good access with no steps into the bar and restaurant. There is a single step down to the serving area of the carvery, and to the conservatory extension. There is a lovely large garden with playthings for children. Small Holding animals are also in the garden for children to look at. 4/5 Cost - The carvery is £6.75 weekdays rising to £9.65 on Sundays, but compared to other carveries in the area, this is very reasonable and good value. 4/5 Tips - It is often quieter to go for a carvery during the week Service - The service is excellent. It is a warm and friendly pub/restaurant and the landlady is often around on a Sunday making sure everyone is seated in turn and overseeing the operation. 5/5 Summary - The Lyneham Inn is our favourite carvery in the Plymouth area and we happily travel the 11.5 miles each week to visit.

Beautiful old pub alongside the A38. Popped in with a service user and they bought themselves a jumbo sausage and chips which came with a side salad. They ate whole thing telling me good it was. There are several picnic tables in the gardens and despite the A38 being close bye in is relatively quiet place to sit and enjoy your food or drink. Im told the sunday roast here is worthy of a visit.

Just been for Sunday carvery, food excellent with plenty of choice on the veg side. Main building a bit dull but the conservatory extension is bright and airy. Staff happy to help and cheerful. Rest rooms available and parking is free. Outside has plenty of kids play area which will be great in the summer. Dogs not allowed inside the bar area.

We went on a quiet Saturday night for food. Very quick serve and easy to park. We aren't meat eaters and it was good to see they offered a 'nut roast' which tasted better than it looked. The severy is covid compliant (they serve you) which was good to see. You can tell them less or more of the things you like the most ! In all, not bad and reasonably priced. It's fair to say the decor would benefit from an update.

Travelled from Somerset in the pouring rain for family birthday carvery for my daughter as had read reviews and we were not disappointed the carvery was fabulous! And all freshly cooked the meat was so tender great gammon!! The staff were attentive and polite and more than helpful with great safe Covid regs still in place will definitely come back again thank you

The roast was amazing, tasted like a homemade roast and the flavour is just right. Beef and gammon cooked perfectly melt in your mouth and the veggies are all so tasty. Sunday is carvery only, and everyone always says how good the meat is. The beef at a recent visit was tender and cooked as a joint should be, not like a rare steak! Nut roast for vegetarians is very nice, it seems to have improved from last time we were there and is very tasty. Food wise the only gripe is the vegetables, the roasties are soft, very few with any crisp and the roast parsnips similarly soft. Beans and carrots, yes a tad overdone. Veggie gravy a bit thin. At the time of writing, order is taken at the table but you still go up for your carvery which is served by staff with a gap between customers and staff so no sharing of utensils with other diners. There're also barriers round the bar and with ordering at table, less wandering round, and fewer tables than there used to be so more spaced out where it used to get very crowded. Also re service, waitress was very prompt to the table and didn't have to wait long to go to the carvery. This is a better system than it used to be of queuing up in a crowded space. They should keep this. The website says that table booking is only available on Sunday (not on other days?!) when it is "advisable". It's actually a requirement, we only got one because there'd been a cancellation, but you'll likely be turned away if you take your chances. (I guess what they mean is, on Sunday you can only get a table by booking, but that isn't what it says.) I thought it would be helpful to suggest that they make it clearer, it wasn't a complaint, we genuinely looked and took "advisable" to mean exactly that, but I was contradicted told no, it says you have to book so customer is wrong. When I was talking to the others at the table (not to the maitre d') was interrupted, asked to show them the website so I did, and was told that yes see, it says you have to book (seriously, it doesn't!) and told that they had "very kindly" fit us in as if we were an inconvenience and had been complaining; we weren't and had "very kindly" brought our custom and our money to their establishment. Didn't stay for dessert.

Basic no frills carvery at a decent price. Can be hard to get table at times but the servers do a good job of organizing customers. Meat is ALWAYS tender and tasty. Most veg is cooked from frozen, but the roast potatoes are to die for and the gravy is up there with any other establishment. Overall: Don't expect frills, but do expect a great value carvery.

Just had the fabulous carvery. The Lyneham Inn gets too busy at the weekends. BUT today (Monday) it was just perfect!! The beef just melted on the tongue, and the home-made bread and butter pudding was just like mum used to make. And with lovely staff too, this was a thoroughly enjoyable experience. Thank you.

Is ok food better than Toby! But the queue is a bit ridiculous as it goes through the restaurant so you always in someone's way and the chefs who are trying to get past you with hot food In their hands for the carvery, think they need to relocate the carvery as there is plenty of space else where.

Drinks are a good price as well. There's a nice garden area and sine climbing equipment for the children. I have eaten in a few different Carveries around the Plymouth area and can say categorically hands down this is one of the best. Unlike many other Carveries are you choose beef in this establishment it is not like chewing a piece of leather. Beef is always well cooked and practically falls apart. Visited the Lyneham for over ten years, the recent years have resulted in good service, a pub that needs some money spent on it, a roast that’s got frozen potatoes and frozen vegetables, however is it good? Yes it is, is it better and cheaper than cooking it yourself yes. The lyneham serves a purpose with expectations being met everytime, polite staff sweetens the deal.

Tucked nicely away from the town but handy for the A38 and deep lane junction this is a brilliant stop off after shopping or to break travel when heading down Cornwall or up to Exeter. The traditional carvery roast is cheap and the gravy is to die for. There is ample free parking and a busy but cosy atmosphere in the week as this venue is so popular with both locals and travellers. The staff are cheerful and helpful and even on Sunday when the price goes up a bit it's well worth the wait. Smokers have a nice garden and there's a good sized play area for the children to let off steam after being stuck in the car on the journey. Give it a try you will not be disappointed.

This is not what I ever imagined I would write about this place!!! Been going for years, however over the past couple of weeks they have employed a knew chef called Daniel!!! Martin has left and Only Dave and Daniel are their. This is a shame as they have written there own Bankrupt ticket employing this girl. Her personality is non existent and her food? The meat is awful and I mean awful! Her roast tatts are either frozen deep fried or deep fried and from the day before. This might work in some old age pensioners home but I assure you it doesnt work in this Pub. Ive been twice in the last two weeks and she has been on and the place as been pretty empty? Julie... you need to spot the writing on the wall darlin, this girl is a killer and once your rep has gone, its difficult to get it back. Get rid of her....?
