I stayed here as I was doing a course nearby and it was perfect, better than I expected. The room was lovely, spotlessly clean, very comfortable and warm, nice extras provided like teas and biscuits the toiletries were lovely quality and plentiful of them. The staff were super friendly and helpful. The food was delicious, my only comment would be perhaps a bit to salty but then that can be down to taste. But it was lovely place to stay, eat, have a drink. If need to stay up that way again I will be booking again.

Came down for my lady’s 40th birthday, We ended up having all the starters and treating it like tapas. Had a beautiful dinner. Great wine. Brilliant service from everybody who we had contact with. Great food and atmosphere here. Just be mindful of not sitting too near the bar area on a busy day if you want a quiet conversation. People can congregate near the bar. Wasn't an issue for us personally but useful to know if you've not been before. Would definitely come back again.

It's been a while since I have eaten before covid and the only reason we stopped going was menu didn't change so was nothing different to choose from. However everytime we have been food and service is excellent. We popped in on the way back from Plymouth for a couple of drinks and enjoyed it so chilled. We will be booking very soon. Another Gastro Pub! Somewhat overpriced, when you are paying £18 for a Sunday Roast I would hope it to be freshly cooked and carved. This appeared to have been cooked before, cooled and put through a bacon slicer and then reheated! On the plus side the vegetables were freshly cooked.

This is one of the best places I have eaten in a good while. The Rose and Crown in Yealmpton is a very, very good place for a great meal with great beer selection and craft beers available as well. The decor is smart pub style, dog friendly, with an easygoing attitude and dress code. Kids are welcome and they have a kids menu. Food is amazing, (see photos) and reasonably priced. I would have expected and have, in the past, paid more than this for food of similar quality. Portion sizes are just right and the combinations are contemporary and great. Next time we are in the area, we will definitely be back. Thank you all staff for a great evening.

Stopped here on business after a recommendation and I was not disappointed! Great selection of drinks and a relaxing calm atmosphere that will chill you from the second you arrive. Food was fantastic! The steak burger was so good I wanted two! Will most definitely return and most likely to stay the night too. Seriously recommend a visit.

A wonderful pub and accommodation just outside Plymouth. Easy access to dartmoor and the South of Devon. Wonderful food and mulled cider. Incredible table service and a big shout out to jacqui who was so polite and welcoming. We will definitely be back. The accommodation is also fab. Very large, clean ensuite room. Shop across the road. Tea, coffee, TV. And a bathtub 🤩

Stayed just recently pub was good, bar staff were very friendly. Food was good. Need to tidy up the rear court yard too much vegetation also some mood lighting. The room was OK but a bit small. Bathroom was a cupboard just about enough room to move. No plugs near the kettle to make tea or coffee had to use the socket on the floor.

Had dinner with friends... My risotto was overcooked and mushy and the parmigiano crisp was soggy and hard to chew, the focaccia wasn't too fresh and the olive oil + balsamic was served in such a deep dish that it drenched the focaccia in olive oil without mixing it with the balsamic. They fired the wood burner filling the room with smoke for several minutes in the middle of our meal. Not a great experience.

Tables were sticky even after cleaning. Host was attentive. Mains came out too quickly after the starter like it was a race to the finish. I had calamari which was rubbery so I think either pre batch cooked or cooked too long. Mussels were OK but sauce a little watery. Partner had creme brulee but these seemed to be pre prepared so the golden topping instead of being warm and crispy was cold. Staff great and polite. A bit more polish and attention to detail would increase the stars. Not bad but not great considering we spent £90 including drinks. All in all OK but wouldn't mention in despatches.

We had the fish and chips which were outstanding as always. It was worth the wait. The only reason I have marked down our visit was because of the waiting time and getting service after our plates were taken. It was not the waitress’s fault. There was only her in the pub. She was taking in new visitors as well as delivering food. It was getting busy but no one else helped out. Shame. Still worth a visit though.

Arguably the best car park in the whole of Yealmpton, trumping the medical center and the garage. Adequate spaces and spacing, superb. I’ve only tasted the food here from the bins. They tend to mix up the wastage and put the bins out around 21:30. The fish left me with some bowel disturbances so sorry for the mess. Hope these tips help other vagrants in the area.

Wow! Really recommend the standard of service received at this eatery. Visiting family, I have serious food allergies. Having alerted the bar staff, had the server make notes for the kitchen, their Chef Richard visited our table to fully understand the allergies, and check on cross contamination. Not only was my food wonderful, Richard came back to the table to check that all was well. That's my kind of eatery, where there is 100% commitment to customer satisfaction. 5 Stars to the culinary team!! Thank you for a great eating experience, in a safe environment.

Really nice pub and rooms in a quiet Devonshire village. On the night we stayed there was a power cut in the area which was of course no fault of the pub. However the manager was really apologetic and gave us a free pint for the trouble which was a nice touch. Really friendly staff and a delicious fish and chips dinner too!

Went for a family celebration. A large gathering of us, but the restaurant was able to cater for us (we had booked in advance, however). The food was well prepared and tasty, and they were willing to adapt to specific needs. Vegetarian options were limited though. The one complaint when a meal was delivered slightly cold was handled by offering a replacement. Overall I would recommend the restaurant.

We called in on a Friday evening without booking. The restaurant was full so we ate in the bar. The food was very good, the staff exceptional and the whole experience most pleasurable. We would definitely recommend it. Don't be put off by the number of cars in the car park or how busy the place looks, we were served quickly and efficiently. And chicken caesar salad was as good as it gets.

Hi stayed here for 2 nights It was our 2nd visit but not sure we would stay again. Lots of COVID measures have been put in place which was good but the whole place is still lacking. The rooms are ok but our shower didn't work properly. Could not get any hot water and obvious from damp skirting board and wall that others had struggled as well. The whole room needed a touch up of paint and given they hadn't been open for 4 months surely this could have been done quite easily during lockdown. Breakfast was a bit of a joke as well. Noted before visit that it was a reduced menu but when your breakfast menu says everything in baps ie bacon bap, sausage bap (which we didn't want and I still don't understand why when you have a chef on site you cannot do a normal breakfast) but to be told on arrival for breakfast that you don't even have baps so you can have bread is a joke. Staff were very friendly and helpful. We paid £240 for two nights and left very disappointed 😣

Arrived at the Rose and Crown after a 7mile walk with my wife so we were hot and hungry. It was great to see Proper Job on tap so we had a couple of beers the staff were young and friendly and gave us menus and explained the routine for service of food as it was Sunday we opted for Roasts Beef and Pork. It was well presented and tasted lush. Would highly recommend a visit.

Stayed for three nights. On the whole the stay was disappointing. Measures for Covid were put in place but the one way system not adhered to. My biggest issue was with the room.... tired and not very clean. During these times of enhanced cleanliness our room was no where near as clean as I would have expected and the decor was tired and shabby.....in need of a refurbishment. Not inexpensive either so felt we didn’t get value for money!

The staff are helpful and deal well when its busy, and keep busy when its not. Jay goes above and beyond to keep customers happy. The Rose and Crown has a lovely big garden, its a spacious pub with restaurant area and bar eating area. (depending on if you require table service or not.) A cosy real open fire in the colder months. A very tasty menu, with the new pizzas that are also available to take away. Plus the menu imo is not overly priced for the quality of the food you get. Dog friendly. They also serve real ale which makes my husband happy! ;)

We had stayed here last year and thought it was fab.. so we went back last night and was disappointed with the service we received. We asked for flowers and processco to be in the room as it was our anniversary, this wasn't arranged we then had to wait over an hour for this to be rectified, we were then charged 51.00 for what I can only describe as cheap fizz and the flowers (which were nice). Lots of spiders and cobwebs on the stairwell, wasnt as clean this time round. The food was nice but the service let it down... sorry but won't be back for a third year...

Disappointed - went for a valentines meal with my partner. Our main course was brought to the table while we were still eating our starters and left on the edge of our table by the waitress. We mentioned that it might go cold, the waitress just smiled and left it there! The main meal was ok apart from the bits of plastic stuck to my gammon which we mentioned to another waitress who said she would mention it to the chef and her manager. No one came back to the table to apologise. Needless to say we didn't bother with the dessert, paid the bill and left. I won't be recommending or returning which is a shame as the pub is local.
