Ate here last night after doing 160 mile trip on my motorbike,to stay with best m8. The foods fantastic,great menu to choose from, portions generous,the staff great and excellent selection of ales,ciders and gins! All in luxurious airey upper floor surroundings! Aswell as great value for money! Highly recommended!

Fabulous service, staff polite and chatty. Beef sizzler was full of flavour. Big daddy mixed grill absolute must for a meat lover. Meat was cooked and had a lovely Chargrilled taste. Bread and butter pudding and creme brule done beautifully. To top it off we tried battered cream eggs..... Absolutely bloody amazing!

Owned by the semi-famous Barney, I was super excited to visit the anchorage as the food and atmosphere is meant to be top notch. We had two burgers one was good and the other was very undercooked, we had an apology but my partner didn't have a full meal. The apology was almost an afterthought It would have been good to offer her a drink or a small bite. We decided to leave, I felt disappointed, I don't think i felt the hype that people have mentioned.

This is not a criticism just to give people heads up. Booked carvery on Sunday for 12 people 1 being a vegetarian 1 being vegan my daughter didn't mention this when booking when we arrived no alternatives were available so my vegan meal was potatoes and peas I was charged for childrens carvery which is fine but just wanted fellow vegans to be aware. All the other people in the group said the food was amazing. Staff were so friendly and polite we will return and when booking will mention being a vegan.

Had heard the food was good, and tbh it didn't disappoint ! An 8oz rump and a lasagne. Very good food and large portions...neither of us finished our meals. Apparently, Sunday carvery needs to be booked at least a week in advance. We'll done Anchorage, will be coming again for sure.

Went here today with my wife and kids. Drove 4 hours to get here. Was totally worth it. We came on the strength of Barney’s Facebook videos - the food looked amazing and really very reasonable prices. We had Big Daddy Mixed Grill, Chicken Platter, Chicken Sizzler and American Hot Dogs. All of these were stunning - like proper lovely and MASSIVE! Fantastic food aside, the staff were all so lovely, barmaids, manager Harvey and the lady chef all spoke to us for 5 minutes when we thanked them all for such an amazing meal. The place has a proper old school landlord/landlady vibe where they are genuine, kind hosts/people, down to earth and totally focused on providing the best food/drink/atmosphere they can. Despite the drive - we will be back again soon, I have GOT to have one of their cottage pies when they are back on!! Hopefully get to buy the Big Man Barney himself a pint when we are there too!

A Really big THANKYOU to the kitchen staff. Had a lovely evening steak meal with all the trimmings.... Two steaks done to perfection, one rare and the other well done. It was hot and tasty and there was plenty of it... the staff were friendly and the food arrived promptly considering how busy they were with an other function being served.

Decided to check this pub out after hearing great things about it . Very pleasant staff on arrival .We ordered 2 ploughmans. Wow !!! 2 different cheeses ham/beef/ turkey masses of salad 3 pickled onions half baguette coleslaw .It was massive .you would need to be very hungry to eat it all.Drinks reasonable price.Well done to all staff & management to turn it around.

We visited the Anchorage on th 23/6/2021 and we were not disappointed the food was amazing , I had the Chicken and bacon burger with a basket of chips and slaw and my friend had in his words one of the best steaks he'd ever tasted they were more than happy to swap the chips for a salad and it really was great value for money .

We booked for 13 but was forgotten so the start wasn't good. Very very busy and i would say short staffed but staff are outstanding smiling, pilite and they are quick to sort issues out and yes i would go back for breakfast again.

Newly opened local pub which is today was our first visit and well worthy, the beer garden is a proper sun trap and there also showing the euros. The beer garden is also wheelchair friendly with a decent amount of parking.

Do you know what? This pub and restaurant is amazing. I attended with my wife, mum and grandmother and was treated with such kindness and every need we had was catered to. The breakfast is amazing, all you can eat for £8. They’ve nailed the COVID-19 guidelines and are doing everything safely. Will be glad to return again and would recommend this gem of a bar to anyone. Make sure to pay them a visit, you won’t be dissatisfied. Thank you to the staff, I loved it! Just wish I was more local to stop by for a few bevvies!

We've visited this pub twice in the last fortnight. On both occasions my group had a very enjoyable evening. Beautiful and clean. Food was hot and plenty of it at the Sunday carvery. Slow to serve us when seated 20 minutes before we got served for a drink. Paid £57 for 5 carvery and a bowl of roast potatoes Thought that was steep but there was no menu with prices or a blackboard to check. Impressed with the food though all fresh and hot.... Will deffo go back but some leadership needed with allocating staff to tables and more staff behind bar doing the drink orders. The lady looked fed up and not very quick. I am sure it's teething problems and looking forward to trying either dishes on the menu.. Well done x

Main course was okay apert from fish platter in the fish fritter found not one hair but two hairs in one only in one of the 3. They were very apologising in the matter but they must learn when making homemade products to ware hair covering Deserts were a disappointment something to accompany the chocolate fudge cake (cream or icecream) cheesecake although homemade base to thick and to hard (to much butter in crumbed base) trio of icecream was rather on the small size maybe they thought it was for my granddaughter ( who wasn't even there ) Apart from these few problems okay
