Absolutely amazing. Staff were great and the food was delicious. 100% recommend for an authentic pub
Update.. Back again and once again everything was amazing. Food and staff are awesome. Definitely recommend

What can I say, first time here, 4 of us came for Sunday lunch, beef and pork. Plenty of crackling with the pork, loads of meat and veg. It's not often you leave full up, but we did. Only the ladies managed dessert tho! Will be coming back again. Great food and welcoming staff.

Had a fab Sunday roast for 10 people! Piping hot and excellent portion sizes. Service was excellent and the staff very friendly and welcoming.
Only downside was the lack of beer or ales available on draft/Cask.

Great local pub, we went here and it was empty, smokey, and to be honest, it looked awful and unloved. However the landlord was friendly and as the afternoon went on, the pub filled to bursting with some traditional singers turning up making the afternoon great. Pubs should be original.

Had a fabulous Sunday roast today! Very well cooked, tasted wonderful and plenty on the plate. Staff were exemplary and couldn't do enough for us. Highly recommend you pay this place a visit.

Cannot remember having a better Sunday roast. Food was outstanding and staff very obliging in squeezing us in as we hadn't booked. Highly recommend.

Lovely food, very friendly staff and other customers. Fantastic pub.

Superb proper Cornish pub, friendly bar staff, good food on offer and two well kept ales. Easy walk down fro the station but give yourself a few extra minutes for the climb back up! Currently keep a close eye on train services - the line suffers from many cancellations due to staff issues.

Outstanding! Best pub in (just) Cornwall. Handy for the station IF First Great Western can be bothered to run the trains. Very friendly, great beer and food, chatty locals. All you could want.

Best Sunday lunch for miles around

Lovely roast, very friendy polite witty staff that you can have a laugh with, cosy pub with a log fire❤️

Excellent meal and wine. Friendly and helpful landlady. Would definitely visit again

Even though this pub is tucked out of the way it has to be one of the best meals we have had. The staff are incredibly friendly, funny and helpful. The food was magnificent! We had burgers, pork medallions and duck and each plate was perfection!

Quaint pub with a lovely, old fashioned, proper pub feel. We were there three times during our stay. The food was superb. Real quality cuisine. Very friendly owners. Highly recommended folks.

The first time we visited, they couldn't be more helpful and fantastic food. So good we came back the next day, and enjoyed another superb meal there.
While every short notice trip to the area, tried calling to see about food, sadly they have been fully booked, but I am happy that's the case because they really deserve it, it is a fantastic pub, with amazing atmosphere, wonderful staff and a gem of a place, I recommend them to our holiday guests in the area.

Thoroughly enjoyed my brief stop at the Boot yesterday (Sun 10th). 2 very pleasant hours. Great Beer, good conversation, and despite GWR doing their best to ruin my day by cancelling ALL the trains back I managed to get transport into Plymouth in time for the train to London. Many thanks for the hospitality - hope to see you again soon.

A very cosy and welcoming atmosphere. After a local person's recommendation we are eating there this evening. A nice pint and friendly proprietors
M. C.
Good traditional pub grub, generous portions (chicken Kiev so big I had a garlic hangover next day). Pub itself had an olde worlde look with charm, a flaky painted sign and nice ambience inside, softly lit. Helpful staff; basic range of draught ales and lagers on tap.

The food is excellent for Sunday lunch, with large well cooked meals, but....the choices on the menu aren't always available (we were denied starters when ordering our meal) the service is sluggishly slow but when it does happen it is an amazingly friendly and comfortable place to be. The pub's surroundings/environment itself is quirky with a lovely open fire and interior decor, is characterful and quirky but has an air of disinterest and lack of welcome midweek and after a swift (but delicious half pint) made other arrangements for dining that evening. Hope it's a blip...as the potential here is huge.

I’ve had Sunday roasts at top restaurants in London and this is better. Amazing roast and huge portions. Wait times can be long if busy but totally worth it.

Boot Inn does the most amazing Sunday roast. We had the roast beef. It came with an excellent Yorkshire Pud and crisp roast potatoes. The vegetables were crisp and fresh. The Cauliflower Cheese was a great addition.

Lovely meal at the Boot Inn - really nicely cooked & presented, and absolutely delicious- all freshly cooked too, no warmed up instant stuff here! Friendly welcome, real fire. Would definitely recommend. I'm not veggie, but noticed several veggie options on the menu so made mental note this might be a good place to take veggie friends.
The home made crisps were a nice touch!
Currently the pub has a real grass floor in honor of St Patrick's Day - WEIRD!

Amaaaaazing food with great portion size ! I don't think I've been to a lovely traditional English pub in such a long time...and the owners were so friendly and welcoming! We went twice in our four day stay !

Excellent food - best in the area by miles. Fresh, locally sourced, homemade and delicious. Very accomodating and friendly pub all round. Great wine selection too. Well worth the 1min walk up from the river on a sunny day.
B.
Actually really liked the chips, we played a chess simul and the hosts were really friendly and welcoming, did everything needed to accomodate us into the buzzing athmosphere. Strongly recommended! But then again the locals obviously know which pub to choose so it should have been no surprise.

I felt a little ignored at the bar at first, but soon realised that it was just a question of waiting for the right staff to get behind the bar. Service was friendly and helpful. The menu is of good quality and made on site. The atmosphere is cosy and calm.

I've had many visits to the boot in, you can always expect a great roast on a Sunday. Proper homely feeling local pub close to the river in Calstock. Well worth a visit if you're in the area

Very welcoming, fun chat and the atmosphere was very nice.
The food looked delicious, although we never ate we have made arrangements to go back and the amount of people arriving to prebooks tells me it's worth a return.

We had a family lunch there in November. We were the only people there on a Saturday. The food was all home cooked and absolutely delicious. I honestly couldn't recommend the food enough. The owners were super friendly and welcoming. Will look forward to returning.

Fantastic hidden gem of a place, limited but high quality menu, and food cooked to perfection. Highly recommend the boot for a good meal in a cosy atmosphere.

If your looking for an intimate cosy Inn, a real fire, a warm welcome, where the food is plentiful and home cooked, by the host. This is the place to suit. If your really lucky, you might pick a night, where there's a Jolly old, Cornish Sing-song, happening around the bar. Perfect. 👍👍
D. R.
Delicious Sunday roast. We had a takeaway due to covid. Came with a cup of gravy and all the trimmings. Great size portion!
