Interesting bar that has a unique antique vibe, gentle volume of house beats play in the background but not loud enough to hear anyone’s conversation. People sit at the bar and chat to the barman, they are definitely regulars. I didn’t receive a welcome and paid £4.50 for a pint of freedom. Guest kegs are regular and seating is fairly limited but not in demand on a Sunday night. I’d visit again

Excellent Welcome, Staff were polite, friendly and knew their products, Lovely Decor, Warm Welcome & Relaxing atmosphere. Art on Walls and Historic Items dotted around, Covid Guidance in place & comfortable seating areas. Good range of products on sale and fair prices. Made my visit a good one & I fully intend on returning and if I see Staff when they visit Wales I'll pay for their first drink

First place I have seen live music since the restrictions have been lifted! Absolutely brilliant performance with good acoustics around the bar. Plenty of seating and the option to order food from else where to the bar which is just incredible. Brilliant bar with wonderful staff, will be returning soon!

I spent most of my MSc nights in this place. The music was always good, and they also have spinning vinyl nights! The changing whisky selection it's a plus. I tasted a lot of them there! I am missing it already. Best place in Plymouth.

Good selection of craft beers, live music, singers, guitar players, Dj's and alternative scene in Plymouth. People are friendly and loads of local events are held in this venue such as learning languages and charitable activities. There is a smoking area upstairs. Pub is run for nonprofit. The only bad point is general cleanliness. Apart from this, is worth to pay a visit to this pub in the city centre near uni.

One of my favourite pubs in Plymouth, complete with great staff and friendly locals. Little bit more pricey than drinking establishments on North Hill, but undoubtedly worth it due to the wide range of drinks and entertainment. There are also regular guest beers and the occasional guest spirit. Definitely my go-to place to drink during the day and early evening.

A fantastic pub just out of Plymouth city centre, it does the basics right - there's a good selection of well-kept real ales and craft beers, and a clean and comfortable smoking area, it's also something of a cultural hub, and most nights of the week will have an interesting range of alternative music on offer. Prices are a little high by Plymouth standards, but as a social enterprise you at least know profits are going back to the staff and the community.

The Bread and Roses is something of a "hipster" pub, especially in comparison with many of the more old-fashioned pubs in Plymouth, but this makes it stand out. They have a good selection of drinks, a pleasant atmosphere, and a good variety of events celebrating local culture. It's a perfect pub for younger people who prefer the social side of pubs and quality drinks.

The only social enterprise pub in Plymouth, hosting musicians, artist's and poets, amongst others popular with students too. One of the few that charges sensible prices for soft drinks and always a warm welcome from the staff. Particularly like Soapbox Culture, 2nd Wednesday of every month, open mic spoken word and poetry from local wordsmiths but also drawing poets in from the rest of Devon and Cornwall. Always a good crowd for this one. They don't serve food, but don't mind you popping into the pizza place just along the road and bringing it in.

This is a great little joint, with plethora live music and different events. The staff are friendly and there are great selection bespoke ales and other drinks. The crowd ranges from coffee sipping pseudo-intellectuals (hipsters) to the working class with a socialist twist. Great conversations and great company to be had.
