*Great Location *Traditional, inviting and friendly pub. *Friendly helpful staff. *Great food! (Thai Red Curry, Parmesan Fries from the Tapas menu)..... My only niggle is that the curry portion could have been bigger and I would have enjoyed it even more with some added coconut milk. Fries portion: great - generous size! *Will definitely visit again as couldn't fault the staff or the food itself, flavours and service were fantastic! Thank you!

Great pub with a good selection of Ale on tap and other hard liquors. The pub is dog friendly and is divided into areas of seating. The pub serves decent pub grub. There are several TV's located around the bar and board games. I was staying next door in the hotel but next time I would consider staying here.

Really liked this place , really friendly staff who were so helpful. We arrived on the Saturday evening on the off chance of finding a table. The pub was busy but the manager who was on his day off moved his friends from a table so we could get in. They have an excellent range of drinks and the food is superb. The Sunday roast is great value and I haven't seen such large yourshire puddings. Will most definitely be back.

Lovely pub, since the new owners took over it has an amazing selection of beers and lagers. The pub is cozy and very welcoming, before I ordered a pint the barman let me have a taster, never had Polish lager but was pleasantly surprised. Thinking of popping back every so often to try a different one each visit and mark them out of 10. Well that's my excuse anyway.

Great location on the Hoe. Landlord was very friendly, gave warm welcome and show us to our rooms-even called to tell us we had left something in room. Room 1 on the front in great with its balcony and big (but a little noisy), room 3 to the rear is smaller but quieter. Great beer in pub that can be taken to rooms. Being above a pub and in a city, you should expect a little noise, but other than that, was great.

First time to the pub after a meal near by. A great relaxing atmosphere, a couple of others in the pub but not noisy so you could easily chat together. Reasonable prices and friendly staff. There were also board games on the area we were sitting to play which is a great addition and would definitely use next time if we are there longer.

Good portions of food and cosy interior. Their card machine was not working for any of the cards we used. The barmaid made it feel like it was our fault despite us knowing they worked and ultimately us paying in cash which really ruined the experience.

Not the biggest of pubs but not overly busy either, most people came for 1 drink and left and can now understand why as half the drinks on offer wernt available and were expensive at £5.15 for a pint of lager and £3.20 for a pint of Coke that was flat.

During a brief stay in Plymouth, my wife and I facied a nice drink in a pub. We went to a couple but they had no draught real ale so didn't stop for a drink. Then we found this little oasis in a sea of lager and trendy bottled beers. I didn't recognise the brands on offer but one was suggested by the bar staff. Sadly I can't call the name to mind but it was lovely and well kept. Thoroughly recommended for a decent pint. Thanks.

Great shower too! You didn't have to go through the pub to get to your room either which can be a plus for some people. Breakfast was really nice, attention. Stayed in the hotel, did not visit the bar, staff seemed nice, rooms are small but if you just need a bed, it's clean & comfy, do need some sound proofing though, could hear room next door talking and the toilet handdryers in the pub toilets...

Nice little pub but a slightly odd layout. Entering the pub takes you almost directly into where people are watching sports on the big screen. There are various cubby holes where you can sit and eat on various levels. You may be a bit limited if you had mobility issues. The lower level seating area takes you onto a beer garden. Not a huge amount to see and wasn't very sunny.....don't let the door shut behind you or you'll be locked out! There is a few seating spots out the front of the pub next to the road. The beer was nice with friendly and helpful staff to serve. It has been a while since I last ate here but the food is decent pub grub and reasonably priced. It wouldn't hurt to pop in and have a pint!

I was up here with work and popped in for tea. The bar staff were friendly and chatty, the food was beautiful. I got a small fish and chips and it was enough for a proper full meal. There were plenty of seats near a TV so you could watch the match or whatever takes your fancy. It was so good that I went there twice during a 3 night stayover. Lovely, friendly place.

For a pub they have made good use of the floors and rooms, making this a good place to go for a quite drink with friends or even a date, lots of tv screens make it a good place to go to watch a game, you can literally see a screen wherever you are sat in the pub.

I've walked past it dozens of times but this was my first venture in. Lovely decor with touches of humour and surprisingly spacious inside. Really friendly staff. Great menu with the option to have smaller portions. Brilliant! My gammon at under a fiver was delicious and just enough. Good choice at the bar and sport on tv in the snug if wanted. A great find and we will be going again.

Went to this place on the off chance as we were on the Hoe and wanted a roast dinner. We weren't disappointed. The food was absolutely lovely. Just like homemade and really large portions. Choice of 3 meats or all three, plus potatoes, mashed carrots, cabbage, parsnips, yorkshire puds (with all meat options) and homemade gravy. Will definitely go again next time in Plymouth.

This is nice little pub that deserves to be busier. The interior is on a couple of different levels. The place feels cosy and friendly with a decent range of drinks from a small bar. The location is superb...it is indeed on the Hoe but set inland a little on a road that's en route to the Barbican which is just a few minutes' walk away. There are a few seats outside although, Plymouth being Plymouth, these often tend to be taken by smokers so not good if you just want to enjoy your drink in the fresh air!

Fantastic, really couldn't fault the place (well, except the Beer Garden which is a work in progress!). Salt and Pepper Squid as a starter was quite possibly the best I have ever had. CAMRA pub, therefore excellent beer, great food, fantastic service and good atmosphere and to top it all B&B rooms for £50-£60 per night.

Place is nice and quiet, a pub with a family vibe to it. Food is terrible! Had a 'chef special' (cajun salmon) salmon was overcooked, on top of overcooked/dry beans with no sauce, together with average chips. Avoid eating here! ( size was small too!). Complained about this after writing the review, got the money reimbursed and they were positive for making it better in the future. They earned one star right there.

I loved the old pub "The Yard Arm" - I hope the new "Pub on the Hoe" is just as good. It is in the perfect location for visitors and guest to Plymouth, situated right beside the Holiday Inn and next to "The Hoe". The location is beautiful and the food was great!
