Reviews of The Jack Rabbit
S. R.
Visited for lunch on Saturday and breakfast on Sunday. Both meals were tasty, well-presented, good value. Burgers, calamari, pizza all good. Cooked breakfast very good. (Pastries not so). Vintage Inn chain offer set range of beer on tap and wines, but good selection. Sign up for the dining-in loyalty via their app - some nice rewards available.

Really great pub with good hearty meals for everyone. Small hiccup where a dish was forgotten but very quickly resolved. Fast service and great staff always happy to help with any issues or queries. The cocktails are strong but definitely worth it. Lovely atmosphere.
M. L.
I've lived in Crownhill most of my life and the Jack Rabbit is a lovely pub and restaurant too pop in too for Sunday lunch or a team meal.
The staff are friendly and attentive, the food was pretty good too however although I never eat the little token bit of salad you are given with the starter chicken wings it looked old and wilted or I'd have given this place a 5 stars.
D. M.
Service a little slow given how quiet the pub was. Food was hot and tasty, though not worth its higher end price tag. Calamari £6.25, Pizza, incl. Chips was £14. Drinks is where they get you (as always).
T.
Absolutely excellent. The food was fantastic, the staff lovely and the setting and atmosphere of the restaurant was great. We went there with friend who haven’t been to Plymouth much before so it was really rewarding to take them somewhere nice, that is actually nice. The prices are competitive (around the £9 - £15 mark for mains). I have been here before, some years ago, and it was so so, but clearly there have been changes, and changes for the better. A thoroughly enjoyed evening out

Lovely reception, seated quickly, given menus and drinks order taken immediately. Food order taken when drinks where brought.
Starters followed shortly after. Then the main course. Food was excellent and good value. Didn’t have much space for dessert and we where accommodated in sharing a dessert.
Wonderful ambience, awesome service and amazing food. We will definitely be back.

Valentines Day Meal was excellent!! The value for money was unbeatable!! £23.95 for 3 courses, 3 courses of beautiful food. The food, the service and the atmosphere was just perfect. We don't eat here often enough. I decided to book here as it was where my partner and I had our 1st date. We were not disappointed. Compliments to the chef on valentines day, and thank you to the staff that looked after us. ❤️
A. W.
It has been a couple of years since my last visit.
Interior is the same but no complaints. Warm cosy and friendly.
Our table was ready and the staff were excellent. Just enough time to sit and have a quick chat before being asked about drinks. Shortly after our food order was taken and brought to the table within about ten minutes. Everything was cooked perfectly and the regular menu had just been complemented by the Christmas menu.
We were not rushed at any stage and we did have another drink before leaving.
We won't leave it as long to visit again.
S. C.
It was very busy when we attended. But the Staff were lovely and the food was delicious. I had the sea bass.
H. P.
We had Sunday lunch here today. The food was alright, the pork was great though! Elena was serving us and she was brilliant! She was attentive without being overbearing and her service was quick and efficient! She was lovely!
A. B.
The pub was nice and clean and the serving girl was very friendly.
Unfortunately the fish that I ordered was balanced precariously on the mushy peas pot and when I tried to move it, it toppled to the floor. The serving staff were great though and very quickly replaced the whole dish for me.
The batter was very crispy and the fish was cooked really nicely, it would be easier if things weren't balanced on top of each other on the plate, but I suppose that means there's lots of food so it can't be too bad a thing!
I will go again
Edit. I went again, food was mediocre. I felt before that the chips looked anaemic and underdone. I didn't say anything first time because they had changed the whole meal for me and maybe they were in a hurry to do the chips so it was understandable that they were underdone when I got the new dish
This time I ordered the chicken curry with jasmine rice and a side of onion/mushroom rings (I couldn't tell). My partner got the fish cakes and chips
My chicken was dry and when I complained about the clumped together rice I was told it was sticky rice. The menu said Jasmine rice
The fish cakes were mediocre and the chips when they arrived looked like they'd been boiled in water instead of fried in oil they were so white.
It was very busy on a midweek night and as the night went on it only got warmer and warmer and they didn't seem to have any air conditioning available.
I don't think I will go again.
Serving staff were excellent though
S. G.
Pretty nice pub. I love the floor which is looking as new, very rare in England that is. The staff, I can’t say they are rude, but not polite either.. Average. But yes, overall a pretty nice pub!
B. E.
Visited for lunch today. Lovely steak each (although we both ordered ribeye but mine was sirloin). Even had a dessert. Our waitress Emily was very pleasant & smiling always.
T. H.
We stayed at the Travel Lodge at Derriford prior to an early morning hospital appointment, so booked an evening meal at the nearby Jack Rabbit. We have to say that from start to finish we had an excellent dining experience. The table and ambience was ideal
, a really welcoming atmosphere. The service provided by Kamila was warm, helpful and polite. An all round thoroughly enjoyable night, as general Patton said “we will return”.
R. W.
My husband and I had a lovely meal with our friends on 27/8/22, then we returned this morning 28/8/22 once again and had a lovely breakfast too. We would like to say that the lovely gentleman who served us on both occasions is called Thom. He is such a helpful friendly welcoming member of the staff. Once again thank you for our lovely evening.
K.
The food was lovely, was cooked well, a really good roast dinner. Dee, our server, was amazing. Although busy, she was very attentive, nothing was too much trouble and did everything with a smile on her face.
M. S.
Popped in here for a quick dinner after work with colleagues. Despite being 'fully booked', the waitress went out of her way to fit us in and couldn't have been more helpful.
The food was presented quickly and was hot and tasty. I'm not surprised it's as popular as it is.
T. B.
Firstly our server Olivia was fantastic. My partner ordered the Calamari which was like rubber & dry but our main meals were lovely. The problem I have was that we were charged for the Scallops & Prawns that she swapped for the Calamari, surely as a jesture we should of only been charged for the Calamari as my partner didn't trust a second lot of it. I must admit it was our first problem we have ever had with the meals that we have had there before.
A. B.
Excellent service all round, my friend and l were having a joint birthday celebration. The food and wine were perfect and we had a lovely day. In fact we're trying to think of something else to celebrate 😂
j. M.
They didn't have any record of our booking, so we had to sit in the bar and order and pay at bar. Failed to tell us they had run out of certain items. Side of vegetables wasn't served until we had nearly finished our main course.
Food was good, service was very average.
I will go elsewhere next time.
D. F.
Absolutely amazing food, well worth the money.
Friendly and accommodating staff, who, quite rightly, take pride in their restaurant.
An amazing end to our anniversary trip.
A. S.
Staff went out of their way to provide food which met a complex allergy requirement for a member of our party. This included allowing us to go off menu despite it being a busy Christmas service. Food was excellent and I cannot fault the approach of the front of house and kitchen staff.
J. D.
Came as a group for a late lunch. Venue was very clean and customer service was great. 5/6 meals were good though the curry dish was a little dry; was offered a replacement dish.
Would come again 😄
G. S.
Great dinner here this evening, excellent food and service. A special mention to staff member Reggae who made my autistic grandsons evening with her patience and engaging personality. Well done
D. H.
Have always found a good atmosphere at the Jack Rabbit and the staff were all very pleasant. The only thing letting the evening down was the amount of time stood waiting to book ourselves in. Gave the impression that there was a staff shortage. Whilst waiting to be seated the queue was quite long.
S. P.
Absolutely lovely hot food and attentive friendly staff even on a busy night. Thank you
Y. Y.
Car park is shared with the hotel next door and can be hard to find a spot sometimes. Food was lovely, the meat on my duck salad felt a bit dry, but other than that, everything was very tasty with lovely presentation. One of our group members had a particular food allergy and they let us use their tablet to narrow down their menu by certain allergen. All in all, I had a lovely time and would come back for another occasion.
C. L.
We just had a lovely meal. All the dish we ordered were very nice and well presented , the staff was amazing and I also had a gorgeous gluten free option ! We will definitely be back !
C. B.
Service was excellent and menu had a great selection and food was delicious. Very inviting and somewhere that I would recommend. Love the fact so dog friendly also
H. B.
The food was good and the menu varied. The setting could be improved by recovering some of the dining chairs which were tatty and bare down to the foam. Not very appealing to sit on.
The staff were also friendly and helpful
E. L.
We had a lovely visit. The server, a lady with long curly hair was very welcoming and friendly. The food was delicious, we had the chicken pie.
C. H.
Visited for Sunday lunch with a friend. Starter of two different plates with sourdough bread was delicious, especially the duck parfait. The roast dinner was very disappointing though. Plenty of gravy but the four slices of beef were tough and gristley, the Yorkshire pud was ok but have had better, the veg consisted of 2 roasted carrots and a dessert spoon sized dollop of shredded cabbage and 5 small roast potatoes which were hard and undercooked. I was underwhelmed especially for the money
l. d.
Nice food and reasonable portion size. Bit more pricey but worth few extra pound. Waitress made a few rude remarks.
C.
Lovely pub with friendly staff and customers. Love the fact we can bring our pooch along too! Had a wonderful meal after work. 1000% will be back again!
l. d.
Lovely decoration inside this pub, very cosy and warm, nice big fire in the middle, food was very avarage, the fish batter was bland for my liking and the peas to be honest. Reasonably priced. Probably wouldn't visit again. Mabe the rest of the menu would be better? Worth a try as the pub itself is lovely, easy access from car park, not to far to walk.
J. M.
The service was fabulous and the food simply delicious. The decor and ambience was extremely welcoming. Not visited for a long as not on our doorstep but would highly recommend.
E. W.
Had appointment at Derriford so decided to have lunch here without any expectations merely because it was close to hospital and what a gem it turned out to be. Lovely decor, dog friendly, good service and the food was delicious. Will be visting again.
N. K.
Ate here last Friday with Friends (I was down visiting from Surrey). The table we was seated at wasn't in the best position. We were squished between 2 other tables with hardly any space between us and the table behind my friend. The table just felt out of place. However the cocktail I had was amazing! And the quality of food and service from the staff was fantastic.
N. A. S. (.
Just really good.
Couldn't fault it for value and service.
Our waitress was superb 👏
J. M.
Great food, really good! Friendly staff, quickly served and hot. Reasonable pricing. Good atmosphere. I would seriously recommend to anyone.
N. P.
As always the atmosphere within the restaurant was excellent, the staff were polite, friendly and helpful. The food was excellent Had a very enjoyable lunch
A. V.
This was our second time we've been to the Jack Rabbit and we have enjoyed our experience on both occasions. Food is really nice, lots of homemade food and along with the atmosphere, it made really lovely dining experience. Waiting staff are friendly, professional but also able to have a sense of humour. Thank you Jack Rabbit, will definitely be returning one day soon.
T. F.
The food was very good and we were served by a lovely waitress who looked after us exceptionally well.
G. T.
A fantastic pub with great ambiance and a rustic countryside decor. Excellent service and delicious food selected from a varied and interesting menu. Pricing very fair. Ample parking and ideally located.
M. K.
This evening was my first visit in 15 years and the place has seen a total refurbishment....... And I can say for the better.
Previously the food and drink and service was below par.......... But now........ I can say that it's a very accomplished restaurant that offers some of the best service and meals I've had in Plymouth!
I was here with 2 family members and we had 3 courses........ And really nice wine, gin and a cocktail or 2!
The staff were really good too! Well done indeed! Definitely coming back!
b. L.
Quirky and cosy. Good lunch and very friendly efficient staff. Waiting for our food was a little too long.
C. F.
Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Food was delicious. Would definitely recommend, book in advance, as they're very popular
J. M.
This is our office "local" & we go there a lot. They have a very wide range of gins, ciders etc & a great food menu. The food portions are very generous but reasonably priced. I'm a foodie & can honestly say that I've never eaten a bad meal here. 14 of us ate here yesterday evening & a special mention & thank you must go out to the very patient & helpful waiter who calmly helped us split the bill & calculate discounts (no mean feat.) This pub is adjoined to a "Travelodge" & therefore gets very busy after 6pm but the staff are well prepared to handle these peak times & service & food standards remain constant.
L. C.
the eating area was cold, food was average... the surroundings are nice but would have been more enjoyable has I been warm
J. H.
First visit today. Really enjoyed it. Lovely staff, great food, Nice atmosphere.
K. G.
Very busy for them which meant a long wait for food but well worth the wait. Recommend the belly pork!
m. t.
Lovely food great atmosphere can't wait to go back again.
B. H. D.
Nice place for a bit of food. Really busy here so expect a long wait at peak periods. Staff are friendly and will accommodate your needs. Top place for socialising
P. H.
Yesterday's Sunday lunch at the Jack Rabbit was outstanding, not least because of Tom, who served us throughout the meal. From start to finish he was available to take our orders and help us through the process. He's clearly a true professional, as his timing was impeccable, turning up at our table exactly when we needed him.
He was so patient with us, as we all had different likes and dislikes and deviations from the menu. The food was excellent, and the presentation of all the dishes was so pleasing.
We're visiting the UK from overseas, and this was a bit of a family reunion, so the Jack Rabbit has left us with a wonderful memory. Thank you.
S. R.
Food was excellent, bar staff helpful and friendly
D. B.
Reasonably priced pub food - 2 courses for £14.50 or 3 for £18.50. Very friendly efficient staff. Food served promptly after ordering and bonus of a child's menu available in the evening.
B. J.
The venue is lovely, the food was yummy, and the service was friendly and prompt.
Definitely recommend.. A little pricey is my only small criticism. And the dessert wasn't the best it could be. The brulee was a little over caramelised, and wasn't really sure why they put a ginsters wrapper on the plate.
The bass was exceptional however :)
J. C.
Food is great. How ever the guy behind the bar is as exciting as a glass of water. He is extremely rude. And I thought it was a one off but every time I've been there. He is so rude. Doesn't speak. Just taps the card machine to pay.
Puts me off I'm afraid. Else it would have been 5 stars. The other staff are very helpful and lovely. I'm sorry you have to work with that gentleman. Such a rude person.
H. J. J.
Great food, good service and the prices were very good.
A. C.
Debra, our server was awesome. Had the hunters chicken schnitzel which was amazing. Great place to catch-up with friends, and they sell diet lemonade - fabulous
N. S.
Dogs are welcome inside and out! A bit of a faf trying to get a car park space, dont forget to add your reg number in the pub! Food was great, pale ale is nice as well. Lots of tables outside for drinks or food. You can get table service or go inside to order. We didn't wait long for food or desert, I'd definitely recommend it.
J. B.
Lovely atmosphere, superb service and great food.
K. S.
I have eaten at this restaurant 3 or 4 times in the last 10 days whilst visiting at the local hospital. Every meal has been enjoyable and the service of Debra and Callum has been outstanding. Thank you both.
p. t.
The service was great. However one of our group had the fish cake with a poached egg. The egg was hard and not runny as it should have been. Appart from that it was fine.
M. W.
What an absolutely lovely Sunday roast
The service was just amazing could not do enough for you. The young waiter that served us was happy very very pleasant. The only down side my hubby could not have cheese cake as they ran out haha
M. S.
Sunday roast was good meat was tender and assortment of veg. The trio of ice cream however left a lot to be desired. I sell ice cream and deliver scoop training. The scoops were size 10 standard is 20 . Only two flavours of icecream the rest sorbet. It was disgraceful and they charged almost £6 for this disgrace.
G. C.
The service first of all. Great lady waiting on us and those who brought the food. Good quality food. Fair price.
M. J.
Great place for dinner on Saturday night.
Very nice atmosphere, delicious food and excellent customer service. Thanks Kamila the waitress for the lovely time.
S. B.
Great food not had to wait long for it. Staff very accommodating....very pleased with service.
J. L.
Popped in on the off chance there might be a table, quick service, good food and reasonable prices. Perfect mid week treat.
K. T.
Lovely little pub and was very quiet today which was nice. Great staff and although i didnt eat today the menu looks very nice indeed
L. W.
Had a lovely evening out, food was great, our waitress Courtney was attentive, fun, personable and just over all amazing.
D.
First time trying Jack the rabbit and wasn’t disappointed ,lovely staff and great food but I liked how homely it was the most , great decor, would come back again soon.
A. P.
One of our favourite family restaurants when looking for a roast. Child friendly, nice food, relaxed atmosphere and good service.
J. B. B.
Lovely food and service , restaurant looked very warm , it was a great family evening
J. D.
Easy access clean facilities. Good table service and a very nice selection of quality food and drinks recommended.
J. H.
Just popped in for a quick drink. Nice pub with a friendly welcome.
R. E.
Similar to a harvester. Good quality food, plenty of choice . Decor a little tired in places. But good for a decent meal
W. H.
Had a lovely meal today . Would recommend going to The Jack Rabbit . Lovely staff . And super choice of food 😋
D. H.
Friendly staff; clean; great range of drinks and the food is fantastic.
T. H.
Staying over In the Travelodge.. Friendly and very attentive staff.. Had the 10 oz Rib eye. Was a little over done but still a really nice peice of steak. A little on the expensive side for what you get.. £20 for a 10 oz rib eye is a bit steep. Chips are good but could do with loosing the silly little bowls they come in and just put them on your plate.. Save on some washing up.. Overall a good meal.. and a pleasant atmosphere.. Thanks.
D. S.
I've been going for years, good food and booze, in a comfortable, friendly atmosphere.
C. R.
Great food, a bit pricey and not a huge menu choice.
M. A.
Great night out good food and a great waitress
Bit expensive and they automatically added a 10% service charge to the bill
c. w.
Excellent food at decent prices, great service and love the surroundings 👍🏻
T. K. -. S.
Had a random late lunch with the missus as we were at B&Q, which is just "across the road"...
We were pleasantly surprised. The food was tasty and fresh, and not pricey at all. The service was superb and would gladly make this place a regular fixture for cosy dinners... 5 and a half stars from me...
j. m.
Pleasant & helpful staff.
Fish & Chips 😋
Schnitzel 😋
Pint Shandy & Pino ✅️✅️
Great evening, thanks.
J. K.
Great little pub, ideal if visiting Derriford hospital. Great food, can get busy at times
S. H.
Staff seem good. Fast and helpful. How ever the food has clearly been made on a basis of the near by travel lodge catering for customers whom would more the likely never come back.!! Over priced over cooked and not on once of cookery skills from anyone!!! A great disappointment. I'd only reckoned the drinks not the food cooked by cheap and under qualified staff I'd normally use the words chef but theres clearly no chef here. Every tables had over cooked food in last hour and half. To recall drinks only pub for those looking to take family for a good meal. Thanks for reading
S. S.
Typically dine here a few times a year, I like that they frequently change the menu here in line with the season. I advise booking a table in advance if dining on a weekend. There is a bar area that it small and is not the best place to come just for a drink during peak hours. Food is always well presented with a varied selection on the menu and fairly priced for what you get. They can also accommodate big parties if booked in advance.
C. C.
Happy friendly staff, extremely welcoming. Food always nice and. Quick.
J. S.
My son and I had lunch here yesterday 2/4 and the food was fantastic! It was our first time here and we will definitely be back with the whole family. Our waiter was Richard and he was really friendly and very efficient! The pub/restaurant was very clean together with your bathroom facilities! Top marks guys! 👌
A. P.
Probably the best pub in Plymouth, beautifully decorated and the food is always great. Delicious pizzas and extraordinary House Burger (highly recommended).
R. W.
Excellent customer service and excellent quality cooked and served food
Excellent all round experience
A. H.
Been coming here for food last few weeks whilst working in the area.
Good menu, food was always spot on.
The signature burger was the winner.
Staff helpful and polite.
Book a table as quite often it can be full.
e.
Top quality service from the waiting staff. There was a problem with the desserts but this was solved with no fuss and great speed
F. G.
It was our first time in Plymouth for a holiday and our first time at the Jack Rabbit...but we will definitely be back. The waiter was really friendly and very efficient! The restaurant and the pub was very clean, the food is delicious and fresh cooked!
J. K. H.
Great service, lovely staff. Food is always hot and well presented and worth the money x
m. l.
Was cold inside as the radiators were off but food was very nice
L. R.
Food delicious and staff helpful and polite.
A great visit. We will be back.
D. B.
First visit since lockdown of covid, we like it but still 70% of the mains have cheese included making options limited, but its clean decent food and decor good.
L. B.
We're never disappointed with the food or service at the Jack Rabbit. We enjoyed a 'Signature Burger' today, which I would highly recommend .....fabulous 😋
M. C.
Outdoor seating area was lovely. Everything qas clean and tidy. Staff were brilliant.
S. M.
Polite staff, great food, only problem was the knives weren't very sharp, had trouble cutting our food.Everything else was spot on.
K.
Lovely food and not over priced. Staff are lovely
S. W.
Just had an evening meal here during a two day work related run in Devon and Cornwall. The pub itself is well presented and with a team who work well together. The menu is good with a wide variety of food catering for every taste. We were served by Laura who was very pleasant and attentive. She was cheery and informative and helpful and genuinely a nice person. I recommend this Pub to anyone wanting a great evening out.
m. u.
We heard good things about this place but when we entered the place - we was noticed by the staff few minutes later as they was chatting way. Then we was told to sit down as they will come and take the order. We was sitting on the table good 10min waiting for someone to take the order. We tried to get someone attention but they just pretend not to notice but the lady who served us later was very good at her job and we'll mannered. Over all the food was okay which is why 3*.
P. L.
Saw the pub by chance as we were driving past. Thought we'd give it a go for lunch. Was really impressed, the inside was well laid out with ambiance. The waitress was very good, great sense of humour and very attentive. Food was very nicely presented and tasty. Thoroughly enjoyed our inpromptu lunch stop.
A. R.
Nice food and nice cider. Friendly service
Not a proper pub pub but a good experience
S. T.
I ate at the Jack Rabbit a few years ago and it was awful but had heard it had improved so went to see. It was great, the decor is authentic and spacious. We had a lovely waitress who was attentive but not overly so. Food was delicious and prices reasonable. Will go again.
G. B.
Lovely evening with my son and family, grand children certainly know how to eat. Atmosphere currently becoming festive ready for Christmas. Too much choice of food but we did eventually settle on something each. Staff were accessible and very pleasant. Would recommend, but you should book in advance to be sure
t. f.
My husband and I love this place and were so happy to be able to come back once Bojo ungrounded us!
The food is always spot on and the staff are doing such an incredible job - especially given the extra strain they have all been under.
A special thank you to Thom - always the highlight of our visit with his charm, cheeky banter and his effortless ways of going above and beyond.
Amazing job guys. Thank you. Xx
A. S.
Fantastic lunch!
Had a scrummy lunch today at the jack, all the girls enjoyed their light lunches, the wine was also fab!! Thom our server was fantastic, very attentive and professional. Always making sure our drinks didn’t run out! Will definitely be returning soon!
G. B.
Super pub with yummy variety of food and drinks. The atmosphere is very cosy. Pets are welcome too.
S. B.
I came with my family to celebrate father's day and unlike mother's day when we came, today there was 1 option for a Gluten Free dessert being panna cotta or I could have ice cream. Very disappointed as I do not like panna cotta, not very accommodating for the 3 course meal.
p. m.
Very good service and choice of menu. Excellent food.
B. C.
Food was very good, staff extremely pleasant
S. F. C.
Delicious food and Superb Friendly Staff - Highly recommended
A. R.
Excellent food polite and helpful staff and food arrived very quickly.
C. B.
The barmaid was lovely and the food was excellent. Thanks
b. c.
Was a bit disappointed when my 3 years old daughter asked for a scoop of ice cream and you guys said you can t sell it , then my daughter was upset and I asked that you don t have it or you can t sell it so you guys said you have it but can t sell it because of the till or something it was too early in the morning :) surely when a 3 year old is almost crying you could easily take s scoop and give it to her , I would have paid cash or could have had it for free god forbits if you could not take money through the till. I mean I understand there are rules but surely there can t be as strict as North Korea:)) apart from that was a nice pub
I. S.
Lovely food. Very friendly people.
C. G.
Waited a bit to long for main courses gammon steak very salty, fried eggs very well cooked ,portions a little on the small size for the price. Nice seating area good waiter ,Would We return Not sure it's a lot of money to spend on lunch if it's disappointing again.
J. G.
Always busy.
Great pub for food.
And the food is very good.
Pub style menu but very good quality.
C. F.
Fantastic Roast. Taste better then most places. Not over loaded with soft veg, proper cooked and tasty
M. S.
Really lovely pub, food excellent. All staff friendly helpful, definitely eat here again.
S. J.
One of our favourite places to grab a bite. Cozy pub feel despite the size. Very family friendly, good all-round menu with something to interest everyone - British classics done with flair. Decent portion sizes & reasonable prices. Disability-friendly parking, entrance and amenities.
D. G.
Good food, good service even though it was busy
I. A.
Visiting the Jack Rabbit is always a pleasure. To start, the atmosphere and general decor is top notch. Plenty of seating and a separate area for dinning. Prices are fair and service is good. This is a regular stop off when visiting Plymouth.
D. C.
Enjoyed a lovely meal (from lunch menu) with good friends. Great service from Thom.
T. H. B.
Pleasant surroundings, good menu, food and service.

Nice pub, good service... But No IPAs Available on the pump 😢
A. N.
When we went there a few weeks ago with the family ( 6 of us ) . The meal was good but nothing special and service was slow. When I went to ask about our deserts and why they were taking so long, bearing in mind there were quite a few customers, I was told that 4 out of 6 staff members were on their break. Not impressed.
F. H.
Excellent food. Excellent service. Would definitely recommend.
S. M.
1st time here ,very nice good food too service was really good and waitstaff very efficient and food was good and hot ! Something you don't always get when busy..
Overall would go again 7 of us and really enjoyed it .

A fun, get together with friends, pizzas looked good, everyone enjoyed the visit.
S. P.
Staff were very helpful and polite and the food was excellent
L. T.
Nice meal, pleasant surroundings & friendly staff.
S. T.
Short staff, so took awhile for food delivery to table. Then the Christmas roast was shocking really.
M. J. H.
I was really impressed with the festive menu at The Jack Rabbit. There are a variety of dishes to choose from and overall, the festive menu is lovely. The venue itself is beautiful inside and out, inviting and warm. The staff are friendly, approachable, accommodating, knowledgable of the products available and they make you feel like part of the family. I had a lovely time at the Jack Rabbit and would highly recommend to anyone wanting a lovely meal out.
J. T.
The staff are really lovely and the food is very tasty too
S. W.
My friend's and I only had a drink, but the staff were friendly and the setting it's self was lovely. We sat in the garden as it was a nice sunny afternoon :) Would recommend. Next time I plan to order food too. The meals that were coming out looked great.
M. L. (.
Great place to meet for business lunch.
They do a great pizza, prices are reasonable and free parking.
L. G.
The whole meal was lovely. The only downside to the jack Rabbit is the overpriced Dricks
Y. L.
Platter is very nice. Like many choices with smaller portions. My friends and I share one as our mains. Quite filling afterwards actually.
S. T.
Good food and service quick with friendly staff
D. T.
A little disappointing. Food took ages to come. The burger was well overdone so asked for another to be cooked properly. When the replacement turned up it was a different version of the burger ordered. Most off putting and not eaten. Chips were ok but not a meal. Obviously didn't pay for burger meal but no other compensation offered.
Won't be back.
A. L.
Our waitress asked us to leave a review if myself and my husband were happy with the service. Usually we would only do this if we had a negative experience, but after speaking with Laura I now see the importance of positive reviews to.
It was nice to see business booming. When we arrived there was a queue at the door. This moved very quickly.
Once seated we were greeted by a bubbly waitress who took our drinks order while we looked at the menu.
Food and drinks were well presented. Hubby had lamb duo and I had sirloin steak. Both delicious and steak cooked perfectly medium/rare. Sadly we couldn't make it to puddings, portions were a very good size. Plates were also very hot which was nice to have.
Nice atmosphere in the restaurant, football on in the bar. Overall great evening had.
N. M.
Good food, at good prices.
Breakfast is not the best I've had but OK.
J. F.
drinks were really nice, however i found a maggot in my salad
B. M.
The only place to go for date night, food is beyond any restaurant in Plymouth let alone a pub. Great staff very welcoming and made our 4th anniversary so memorable that my partner IS ALREADY begging me to go back even though we have just come home....that in itself speaks volumes. 10/10
e. s.
Lovely food and excellent waiting staff.
R. W.
Came in for breakfast today and even our four legged friend was allowed into the bar area. Friendly staff, real fires and a touch of the old style pub. Breakfast was delicious, all hot and good quality produce.
N. B. B.
Service was very good. Staff extremely friendly and eager to please. Food was good although erred on side of quantity not quality.
J. B.
It was pouring rain and we were made welcome. They sat us by the fire. The service was very good, the food was excellent. We had mains, pudding and coffee. The restaurant was very busy but nothing was to much trouble. Staff were very friendly and happy. Very covid safe, made sure we checked in and used the hand gel. Definitely will go there again.
S. R.
We had a lovely meal, waitress was lovely also
S. P.
Really enjoyed our lunch at The Jack Rabbit yesterday. We had to have allergen based dishes and our waitress was very helpful. The food is gorgeous. Thank you very much
A.
Cosy, comfy, cute environment. Staff were busy so had a little wait at the bar, but nothing to complain about really, just short staffed I think. My pint was tasty, so that's all that matters!!!
M. M.
Amazing roast dinners!! Plenty on the plate, hot and full of flavour. Staff were really attentive and friendly.
We do not have a dog but it's a dog friendly pub. We'll worth a visit.
A. M.
Had a really nice meal, food was amazing and Debra was brilliant, so lovely and friendly and made our visit there even more enjoyable. I never leave reviews for anything but wanted to leave one for her. Will definitely be back. Thank you!
T. T.
Great service and food to die for. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
d. c.
Not impressed too busy not enough staff food mediocre
A. L.
Good food, but had to wait a while for it.
m. r.
Nice farmhouse style pub / resteraunt . Recommend the chefs and staff , particularly Ollie and Emily . Well done xx
C.
Popped down for a pint and a pudding at the end of the weekend. I couldn't believe how quiet it was. Nice selection and everyone happy, so a good evening all round
A. R.
I was disappointed at first to learn that there wasn’t any roast dinners left on a Sunday, they told us as we got there. We then chose a different meal to learn that they didn’t have that either, I chose a drink that again they didn’t have so I wasn’t enjoying my experience at this point. We decided to stay and try the burgers and glad we did as they were incredible!
A. W.
Great food. Lovey staff.
S. G.
Took my elderly mother for an evening meal. Good food and friendly staff
T. H.
We have passed this restaurant so many times without giving it a second thought, so we thought we'd try it out. From the car park it looks a little tired, but don't be fooled ... the food is absolutely delicious, inside is meticulously clean and the service is fast, efficient and friendly. We will 100% be re-visiting and would highly recommend!
J.
Great few nights had at the Jack Rabbit over the last few nights. We are a family of 6 staying at the hotel just behind. Great looking pub, very different compared to our city chains.
The food served was great. We made it to 3 courses last night! My son took a liking to your twin fin gin, so overall a great night had by all. Thankyou so much for looking after us. And thankyou to Laura who served us twice and gave us the best service. Such a lovely lass and very good at her job. The Scottish tribe!
J.
Great service, lovely food and good atmosphere
P. W.
Great atmosphere. Comfortable and your dog can go with you in the bar area. Food is very, very good. Recommended.
G. R.
Relaxed atmosphere and very friendly staff. Good quality food reasonable portions not cheap but good evening out
S.
Very comfortable venue. Quick and efficient service. Excellent food at reasonable prices. We'll be back.
D.
1st time at the jack rabbit for a while. Food was really enjoyable. Calamari for starter and burger for my main. Spritiz cockails went down a treat! Our server Laura allowed me to create my own burger due to me being on a special diet. Special thanks to her, by far the best service we have ever received in any restaurant. Make sure you keep her! Looking forward to coming back in a few weeks. Thank you again.
J. T.
Ideal for a midweek lunch with friends. Good menu choice, reasonably priced and friendly staff. Good parking and close to a main route for easy access.
T. S.
It was lovely great service friendly and great food
M. G.
Fabulous food, wonderful service. Nothing was to much trouble and when it's a table of 10 , with 3 teenagers and a child I think that's impressive. Thank you to the team and Natalia, our waitress
Marilyn Groves
J. M.
Good pub food with lovely staff. A nice looking pub and had some food choices a bit different than your usual chain pubs, although they had run out of Sunday roasts by the time we arrived (it was 7pm, so fair enough) Also disappointed that they had turned off the coffee machine prior to 9pm, despite advertising a coffee and mini pudding dessert. Obviously a slightly limited menu due to Covid supplies but there was still something for everyone in our group, including 2 children. Would eat here again quite happily.
R. H.
Staff are very friendly and approachable. I felt that the food did not reflect the price and my calamari garlic bread was significantly undercooked. Drinks are also very expensive.
T. V.
Lovely atmosphere, tasty delicious food. Good service. I'd definitely come again.
B. K.
The Jack Rabbit, in my experience, is reliably good value for money with good food, a lively and clean environment and very helpful and friendly staff.
Service level can dip a little in very busy periods but for a quiet mid-week lunch, it cannot be beaten.
Very good for families with elder relatives. WC facilities are easily accessible and perfectly clean
One of the best family pub/restaurants in the area
O. S.
Lovely lunch today. I had the fish cakes which were delicious WOW and partner had the chicken sandwich which was lovely. Great service, friendly staff, defiantly returning!
M. F.
Typical gastro pub. Good selection of beer food OK but expensive. Next door to a big Travel Lodge can't loose, captive audience.
M. U. t. J.
Amazing food last night , always mega service and always looked after. We will definitely be going again. Thanks for a great evening and loved the crockery 👍🏻👍🏻
S. S.
Great atmosphere and nice beer garden. Service and staff were welcoming and friendly. Sadly the food was bad. From reading other reviews, this may be a one-off experience but I would be hesitant to have food here again. The cod loin was over cooked and a small portion for the £15 pricetag. The vegan burger was below average but a good size. However the "grain salad" that accompanied it consisted of 3 large, uncooked broccoli florets with a sprinkle of grains - disappointing. The dish also had a second salad of lettuce, plenty of red onion and some chopped beetroot - no sauce or dressing in sight or offered. Sadly the food was poor and I would not recommend to anyone passing through as we overheard other customers with similar complaints about the food, however, unlike them, we were not offered any compensation despite mentioning our dissatisfaction to the waiter more than once. The waiter assured us that the feedback was passed on, so hopefully future reviews will be positive.
J. S.
My husband and I had a lovely evening meal while staying in Plymouth. There was a very good choice of dishes, with good service and surroundings. We would definitely recommend this establishment.
j. m.
Great atmosphere, wonderful staff and tasty food. Well worth a visit - highly recommended
M. H.
First time I’ve been there and it was very nice staff were lovely and friendly food was great and it wasn’t too pricey. Definitely will be going back in the future. Also didn’t take long for our food to arrive after ordering which is always a bonus.
S. V.
Lovely vintage feel inside, staff very friendly and welcoming. Service was great, the menu was really varied, catering to all dietary needs and the food was lovely and well priced.
K. L. S.
Great staff today. Had a bad experience last time but this time was much better. Lasagna was good. Chips were not however 'twice' cooked as advertised on menu.... a few of mine weren't actually even once cooked. But that was the only fault. Very covid safe.
P. B.
Great food and friendly atmosphere. Staff are very welcoming and attentive and the children's menus is of a good quality. My family and I have eaten here many times and can honestly say enjoy everything on the menu. The pub offers full sit down meals as well as bar food. The building is warm and comfortable, with ample free parking (providing you remember to enter your car details into the computer at the entrance).
Location is ideal if you are visiting the hospital and offers a better quality and value for money meal than ant of the food outlets based around the hospital itself.
L. T.
Loved the food here and on the whole the staff were very attentive although we did have a waitress roll her eyes and tut because we wanted to move tables to make it more comfortable for my pregnant daughter. I am sure this was just a blip though as we have been since and the staff have been very welcoming.
Very reasonably priced. Good parking and atmosphere.
T. E.
Really nice place and food since the Change over. Unfortunatly we all came from Addrellin for our first visit and my 5 year daughter had litterally just caught Covid so she was unwell and never ate anything, we got her back home to be medicated and to have her Convid test......
It is a really place with that warm homely feeling that also let's dogs in. This is amazing for dog walkers that want a quick pitstop on their way home.
Well done guys!
M.
Lovely evening at the Jack Rabbit great service by our waitress and a great atmosphere. Well done guys and glad you are all back to work after a long 14 months, thank you for looking after us all. A big thumbs up.
J. G.
Excellent start and Main, along with the great waiter service we had a lovely evening.
D. P.
Great food, brilliant staff very welcome for couples or for families, Dogs welcome in the bar area,
Slimmed down menu, haven't got a bad word to say

Good Pub Food and Good Service
If you're after something upper class and highly memorable go elsewhere, but if you like good pub food, well cooked and friendly service this is a great and convenient pub.
We turned up without a reservation and the staff managed to "squeeze us in" despite the fact that the pub was completely empty 🤣. The kids loved it and the staff were lovely.
Not sure about the beer garden right by a busy road though.
L. P.
Friendly staff, pleasant atmosphere and nicely prepared food. However let down by the clearly just defrosted desserts and half the menu being unavailable because they were still prepping at gone 12pm.
L. S.
Food was fine, our server was lovely, but the Manager of the restaurant was rude, sour faced and couldn't have cared less. We spent 20 minutes waiting for anyone to speak to us only to be told by the tapping of his watch that we would only be able to use the table for an hour. Considering our food took 25 minutes to arrive we were unsure if the hour began when we sat or when the food arrived. If customers service was on the agenda he missed that day at charm school. We left our server a good tip for having to put up with him.
M. C.
Arrived very late after a long day out sightseeing, we were made aware the kitchen was shutting early that day, but were still happy to serve us food. Placed order at the bar, and the foh staff were very patient with me as I sorted out my discount code, even offered a tab for me.
The food came out, and was amazing, wasn't the end of day stuff that we were kind of expecting at that time of day.
Even though they were closing early, they still offered us another drink before we left.
Would recommend this place to anyone after this experience.
Love you Sammy <3
J. A.
Beer is quite expensive but they dont really have much competition. Food is not bad.
J. B.
Went for food Wednesday evening. Restaurant seemed quite busy so my wife and I decided to eat at the bar area.
Food was amazing! Although we didn’t receive the best service via our waitress. That being said the bar girl was really friendly and even came to get our empty plates after it was left there for a while.
Our desserts was even better then our mains and will most definitely be returning again!
I. T.
Good good, well presented at a fair price.
The table was quite low, and the seats were incorrectly levelled, thus offering very little leg room.
S. J.
I cannot recommend this place enough. Atmosphere, food, staff, service are all excellent. I will definitely be back.
D. G.
Excellent place it was the eat in to eat out day when we went and it was booking only which we hadn't done having only travelled down that day to Plymouth , But the staff were great and managed to sort a table out for us. The waitress was very good and the food was excellent as was the stella. 🍺
T. S.
Great service , and food was nice .The only disappointment we had was that our food wasn't hot , veg on plates was warm. X
I. S.
Went there on a reasonably quiet Monday eve. Dinner was delicious! Had the lamb shank and the seafood risotto from the specials board, both well cooked and tasty. Both deserts, a brownie and a sticky toffee pudding, were to our liking too ☺ friendly staff behind the bar ☺
B. D.
Excellent food and service. Would certainly visit again when in area.
K. M.
Nice selection on menu, friendly staff. Orders were taken quickly and food delivered in good time and still hot. No rush to give up table but when you were ready to pay, they attended quickly
A. J.
My earlier review I only had time to rate the stars. Not sure how to add a written review to that one, however, The Jack Rabbit deserves more than 5 stars.
After a early start to our day, a long walk and eventually checking into Travelodge Rodborough around 8pm, the Receptionist suggested we eat at The Jack Rabbit. They were still serving food, thankfully.
The loveliest, friendliest waitress served us. Even though it was quite busy, food was served promptly and was really nice.
Thanks for saving our loooong day.
A. S.
The ladies looking after us tonight were superb. We're old (55!) and just wanted a pint and some food, long day. And driving an app to order was, er, entertaining 😁, but the help and daftness of it made for a fun evening. Top marks from me, now where's the Horlicks!
C. T.
Busy restaurant, relatively fast service and friendly staff. Had the steak, lots of flavour. Cheesecake was abit bland tasting at £6.50.
N. T.
Lovely place with a good atmosphere and the food was very good, they are very accommodating for people with allergies and their Apple and their coconut sorbet were amazing, would highly recommend visiting and their staff were very accommodating and friendly, give the place a go for a any occasion and the staff will look after you
C. H.
The food is nice, the drink I had was lovely. The only bad comment is that the glass could of been abit cleaner.
S. K.
Lovely meal and service was good
S. B.
We popped in for an impromptu drink. We were made to feel unwelcome and when we tried to order at the bar we were told quite snottily that it was table service only despite this not being made clear as we arrived. Once we were seated the lady who took our drinks was lovely and the service was quick.
T. K.
Staff are wonderful and seem to enjoy their jobs. Food is really really good.
E. W.
This place has a nice feeling about it.
It is not noisy nor rowdy even although children are present, no disrespect to the kids by the way.
The staff are pleasant and when you order your meal, it doesn't take forever to come.
The meals are well presented too and taste lovely.
Also there are plenty of parking places available.
Well there was when I last visited it.
Well worth a visit with family or couples.
J. C.
Went for a work celebration. About 12 of us. And the service was great. I opted for the lamb kofta and then the rump steak. Both were very tasty. I didn't hear anything complaints from the others. Only downside was it was very hot where we were sat. No windows or air conditioning. However as soon as we ate we went outside. Which despite being on a roundabout was very pleasant. Would go again.
M. L.
Lovely place, great staff, but like a Wetherspoons pub, not enough staff behind the bar!
Too much of a 'gastro pub'. But then there's more profit to be made on food. Mind you, the food is good!
Would have been 5 stars but for the lack of bar staff!
V. M.
My wife and I love this pub - even more since its recent refurbishment. We live nearby, often pop in for a pint on a Sunday and have always found the food and service to be of a high standard. We booked for 7pm last Saturday with friends and it was very busy, but we were shown to our table promptly and served quickly for a three course meal. All our food was hot, very tasty and the atmosphere was lovely - warm and cosy on a cold night. Wine and drinks were excellent and we had a splendid evening. Great value too - £70 per couple, including tip, for a three course meal with wine - pretty good in my opinion!
S. W.
Although at times the food is slow at coming I have only found this when exceptionally busy. The staff do a very good job of coping and are always polite and respectful of matter how ragged they are run. The food has been exceptional of late. I would recommendations this establishment. My only gripe is there was no toilet paper in either of the ladies toilets.
P. E.
House burger is a must! Was a busy night so the food took a tad longer to arrive but the food was worth the wait. I guess it wouldn't be busy if it wasn't any good! I will be going back.
s. p.
Dear team and staff at jack rabbit my wife and i have no complaints as we enjoy with birthday boy mike sampson and his wife vonnie. We had fabulous meals and great Service all around last night friday 10/09/2021 yes keep good work up my only issue are about foot path from disabled car park to yr front door please please look in to .?

Our Team had an amazing food here! The waiter girl was warm wellcoming and well presented with the correct knowledge about the menü. The place was satisfying even for a vegan like me . The Beetroot burger was just smashing ! Loved it it:) Thanks a lot guys and happy to been there. Team A
D. B.
Third time of visiting, much better service than the last two times. Food was good too. Deserts weren't quite right so not 5-stars. Good menu with a fair amount of variety without too much to make you suspicious of quality. Will return.
D. M.
Easy access for wheel.chairs, plenty of parking and both outside and indoor seating. Menu gives plenty of choice from snacks, sandwiches and full meal including range of deserts, staff very pleasant and efficient. Wide range of drinks available and overall cost very reasonable. Well worth a visit.
S.
Serves very good pub grub. Good selection of drinks. Service is average. Service can be painfully slow at times meaning that there is often a wait for tables.
The bar is very tastefully furnished.
The Jack Rabbit is worth a visit but I would recommend at quieter times.
C. J.
Two courses for £11.50 lunchtime menu fantastic value. Superb chicken pie and chocolate brownie with Bailey's ice cream. Down load the app while you are there and get a free drink with your meal (selected drinks). What great value. Brilliant waitress
w. l.
Great food .
Friendly costumer service.
M.
Nice atmosphere but you just get a table inside of you eat something
D.
Great food, service and a nice atmosphere/decor. Happily visit again.
R. M.
The food was excellent and not fault able however, the staff appeared to be pre occupied and not interested in serving drinks we had to go up to the bar and were not asked which made life difficult, the staff have good attitudes but need some training to do with service and have not much of an idea if what service is. I hope it gets better because food is good.
A. “. C.
Time for lunch before a hospital appointment. Pub is very close so very convenient. Friendly helpful staff. Food came quick and was really good. Lovely cosy atmosphere. Only downside although not for me was the toilets being upstairs which may cause problems for people with less mobility! Will definitely go again and would highly recommend!!
J. W.
Excellent food, staff are fantastic and very friendly!!! Definitely will eat and drink here again.
P. H.
We've eaten here on numerous occasions and since the menu/supplier changes (back in Feb 2017) things have certainly improved. Staff are friendly and polite, tables are clean and service is at just the right pace. Not posh nosh but just right if you want a good, tasty meal, in a pub/restaurant with a nice "feel" to it. Prices are slightly on the high side of average but it's worth it, as the whole experience of eating here is way above average.
P. T.
Loved the ambiance it's so cosy and welcoming. The food is excellent and will bring me back to this venue.
C. T.
Food was good. Had the prawn and lobster cocktail for starter. You could actually see the chunks of lobster without the taste being overpowered by the sauce. Roast beef for mains. Excellent cut of meat, cooked well. Veg and gravy was nicely executed as well. Only slight surprise, no cocktails on the menu. Suppose you can't have everything.
I. M.
Food here is really good hence the 3* but the service was terrible. We have 3 different servers all night. Ok it was busy but doesn't excuse the point of getting a server. Also we didn't have any check backs on our food and even got asked the question was the starter ok and are you done with the plate when it was completely empty and cutlery and napkin were on the plate. If you go here all I can say is go when it's not so busy as the staff were nice, just didn't seem to be able to keep up with the demand
S. W.
I visited The Jack Rabbit for lunch yesterday with my partner who is a chef and hyper critical which makes eating out a bit stressful at times! Immediately we were welcomed to comfy seats and presented with a fantastic menu choice, imaginative as well as traditional choices. Staff were delightful and attentive, food was delicious and surprisingly good! We'll recommended. We will be back soon!
S. H.
Speedy service, great selection of food and beverages
I. M.
Very nice meal. All well laid out and safe. Our waitress Lisa was extremely helpful, polite and very efficient. We will definitely be back to The Jack Rabbit, Plymouth.
J. C.
Lobster fish cake excellent but came with wilted salad and new potatoes had seen better days. Waitress corrected the matter immediately so score slightly above average. Shouldn't have occured in the first place.
Lovely and friendly pub.
J. E.
Visited for Sunday lunch place was packed . Always a good sign of a decent place to eat , and it was on point . Lively food and very good service
D. M.
Lovely food but the service wasn't great. Very long wait times between courses which was probably caused by us having 3 waitresses and a lack of communication between them.
That said, would still revisit and would hope for a better service next time.
L. S.
Great foods. Great drinks. Great service. Highly Recommended!!
K.
We went here for the sunday roast, and while it is a little pricey, it is absolutely delicious! This place has a lovely cosy atmosphere, which is great to have a catch up with people. They cater well to larger groups of 8 or so, but I recommend that you book a table on one of their specials days/evenings as they can get very busy! The staff are always very polite here which makes the whole experience even more pleasant. The only disappointment we have had here was when a group of us came here for their pie specials day. We came relatively early in the day and all but two of the pie options were sold outz with no option to substitute one of the pies on the usual menu in to the offer. Aside from this incident, I would recommend this place.
S. S.
LOVELY place lovely food. No more custom from me a £100 pound fine 6.30 in the morning on boxing day after I spent 300 on Xmas day. Was told I could get refund . Have it in writing but feel I am being ignored. Plus I have heard of this happening to many people .
R. D. a. E.
I used to live in Plymouth and previously really enjoyed meals at the Jack Rabbit. Sorry to say I was very disappointed yesterday. My British Chicken Pie was dry and burnt under the crust with a small amount of cold mash as was my mother-in-laws. My son had sausages from the children's menu which arrived burnt, not sure why the chef or waitress thought it acceptable to serve this. So over all not an experience I think I wont be repeating again, it's a shame as you have a lovely venue.
Just had a lovely call from Craig the general manager. Very upset we didn't have a good experience. He's offered to put this right on our next visit, which we have happily accepted.Thank you for your prompt reply to our review and we look forward to seeing you again soon.
S. J.
Visited with group friends for evening meal, lovely young guy with glasses waited our table, didnt catch his name. Great food, had lasagna. Nice atmosphere, very busy.
T. B.
Nice little pub. Serves good food at a reasonable price. Perfect for a family outing
L. B.
I was greeted by a lovely waitress and shown to the family table. We had a very enjoyable meal for our matriarch's 90th!
S. R.
Having been recently redecorated, the decor is fresh and bright, not that old dinghy dark cave-ish atmosphere it used to have. The server we had was lovely, friendly and relaxed, not over the top gushing (which can be really annoying!) and the food was good with nice sized portions. We did call a few days before to book a table for nine but, unfortunately were tucked into a bit of a corner. It's a good thing none of us minded our personal space being invaded and we all had good manners with our elbows tucked in, otherwise, it could have been messy! None of us were keen on the menu and stuck to old favourites like Hunter's chicken or a sandwich. When going to the bar, you stuck to the floor and the toilets smelled a bit nasty. I would recommend if you were only after a casual lunch but anything special? Well, I might head somewhere else.
N. W.
Warm cosy family inn with good food. We are four adults and two kids and ate lunch here recently. It was busy but service was efficient and all food hot and tasty. They'd run out of Yorkshire puds which was a bit disappointing and also two dessert choices had run out. We didn't eat that late so they should have made enough to cater for everyone. However, that was a small hiccup in an otherwise delicious meal!
P. G.
A late cancellation by our babysitter meant our Valentine's meal was now for three of us. Maria is 13 months old and was well received by everyone and fortunately well behaved during her first night out! Food and service was excellent. We will be back.
C. S.
The Jack Rabbit is a lovely place with great food, and I’d have no hesitation in recommending the place and visit very regularly with a number of work colleagues. Be very wary of the new parking regulations as I was landed with a £50 fine, however to the pub’s credit, I posted on social media and they came straight back to me and had the fine removed. It’s a shame when parking enforcement spoils your impression of a great place, and there’s a danger that this will really impact trade in a local lunch hotspot.
t. t.
When you've spent all day at Derriford hospital and you just need a friendly face, a nice glass of wine, something tasty to eat, convenient plus an open fire to boot you can't ask for better. Staff lovely especially Lisa & Laura - nothing too much trouble, a lot of places could learn from their customer service 5 stars
S. L.
Lovely food in relaxing atmosphere
S. B.
The outside seating is nice when it's sunny even though it's right off the road. Some of the food is good but the prices show that place thinks they are more than what they actually are. The staff are just okay. WAY better food/scenery/prices at other places, like the Mount Batton.
S. A.
Lovely food, lovely pub!
S. S.
Lovely place and friendly and helpful staff. Food usually very good although I have had a couple of not so good experiences.
B. A.
Need to redress the balance here a bit. Ate here June 17th 2016 at around 5pm. Waiter was quick, organised and professional despite the place being busy.
Food was well presented and tasted good, maybe the steak could have done with a minute or two longer to get it to medium. Car park was busy but overall I'd go there again.
A. c.
Lovely food, reasonably priced and great service
A. R.
Good service and tasty food. Good atmoshere and there are real fires. Great for a cold day.
J. P.
Staff were very good and all very safe

We love thos place the food is excellent and the service is first class 👏 👌

Pub ambience is lovely, the waitress we had was great, but the food we had was very over priced for what it was. Fish and chips cost £11.50. Large portion of fish in very cruchy thick batter with about 5 chips hidden underneath, not great

Lovely meal for mum's birthday. Very busy so service was a bit slow.

Staff were lovely , food was fantastic, next time we are in Plymouth we will definitely go again .

Excellent restaurant with friendly, knowledgeable staff. The night I was served by Lisa a lovely American lady who is always friendly and wanting to help you. Always serves with a smile and makes me feel a valued customer.

Good food and atmosphere although portion sizes could be a little bigger they have shrunk over the years even though prices have risen in line with everywhere else. Service is usually very good. Great place for a quiet meal, normally very busy Friday and Saturday nights less busy other nights.

Nice pub very comfortable well run covid spacing but some of the food is well below par i don't think they employ a chef stick to cod and chips burgers or steak dont risk a salad its just a pile of leaves with a lump of meat chucked in the middle no pride or finness in presentation we give it a try every couple of years hoping its going to improve
In short have a drink and chat great eat and risk that its not worth the money

Lovely pub with great food at a good price

I've been there three times as passing by after work. Place nice, staff a bit too in the rush and in one occasion the waiter looked annoyed and surprised when I pointed out the complimentary wine offer advertised on the website. Food is good quality and well cooked.

Lush meal , our waitress Jasmine was really attentive.

Battered cod was greasy and doughy and not particularly hot. Wouldn't order again. Large portions though and friendly staff.
Husband's steak was lovely and starter was great (duo pate)
M. B.
Great food, great service

Seemed like a place but the reason I was there was because I was broken down 😆

Decent visit , warm , cozy and friendly staff - food good and the lager decent

Have not been here for about 6 months, the food has improved, 10 fold. Didn't see any staff I knew. The place seemed cleaner, more vibrant, and full. The only problem was finding a parking space.
P. W.
Good food lovely staff.and nice atmosphere.
K. M.
Good place to eat and drink.
Helpful and informative staff.
Restricted menu, meals not all available.

The food exceeded expectations and our waitress, Debra, was amazing.
Would recommend and we will be visiting again.

Great pub OK prices 👌

Nice meal at a fair price

About 10 family members met up for pre-xmas drinks. We enjoyed our company, plenty of seating to be had in main bar and nicely decorated gor the festive season. Big downside was the dreadful smell of urine when you walked through the door from the bar. Ladies toilets were upstairs but it was overpowering and i was glad that i hadn't order food.

The staff were lovely but sadly three of us had hunters chicken and it was very dry and disappointing. We have had many meals at the Jackie Rabbit but this time it was not up to the standard we have become used to. Perhaps it was just a bad day.
J. T.
Stayed at the Travellodge next door and ate here for dinner and breakfast. Both meals were very nice and was made very welcome by the waitress. She was very helpful and nothing was too much to ask didnt get her name nut she was American
K. C.
Quite expensive food which was very average. They got one meal wrong and ran out of a couple of deserts......vanilla ice cream being one of them. Childs chips were inedible. I posted a complaint but had no reply. On a plus the staff did their best to make amends.

Lovely Food & great staff,
Restaurant was quite & there was 6 of us can't fault the service very Happy
J. H.
Very nice food, good service but floors and walls were filthy. The floor needed to be swept and where we were sat, the wall hadn't been cleaned in a long time. Hence the three stars

We had Chicken and mushroom pie there with chips and veg this week. The food and service was great

Probably the best pub food in Plymouth. Generous portions and is always delicious. Their roast is amazing.

For a chain this place does a good job of providing a dog friendly and comfy pub experience with no lack of parking. Good food too.
M. L.
Food always been good on each visit. Nice interior made from reclaimed materials to give a 'old world' feel but with a modern touch. It's a pian that it only opens at midday as it means a couple of time I would have gone in, I've had to give it a miss.
J. T.
Lovely place, great food, nice atmosphere. A cosy pub with an open fire, stay for some food it's amazing and the staff are so welcoming and helpful makes either having a drink or a meal a delightful experience

Fantastic food,
Good portion size with excellent service.
Very happy and better than many restaurants we’ve tried.

I was staying at the Travelodge, and needed somewhere to eat breakfast. I had a sizeable bacon butty, and a pot of tea. Both served their purpose, although I would have preferred a much stronger pot of tea, but that's my own taste. Pleasant service and really nice surroundings.
K. M.
Very attentive staff and the food tasted really very good. My only slight complaint is I would love the plates/dishes for the hot food to be really hot, therefore keeping the food hot. Otherwise lovely, and the atmosphere was great.
J. H.
Friendly staff, standard menu, but good portions, tasty, hot and good value for money. Cute inside too. Nice beer garden
M. C.
Had a meal with the wife fairly good meal but didn't rate the chips a bit too greasy for my liking..I like my steak cooked very blue and it came out perfect , overall the meal was ok , the bar staff all very friendly and welcoming ..would I go there again ..yes

Excellent visit for lunch and then 2 days later for dinner. Super friendly and polite staff.
Food well presented and tasted great, good choice on menus. The China House could learn a lot from here!
Hope to visit again!

I had the three course Christmas meal and it was very tasty. The steak was great and the chocolate torte was really rich. The staff were friendly and great atmosphere.

Nice food and quick service.

Was a lovely evening. Booked table beforehand - is currently table service and card payment only. Sanitiser available. Remember to put your car registration in when you go in. Food lovely. Menus disposed of after meal finished. Staff ensuring tables cleaned throughly between customers.

Very nice pizza, and fast friendly service. Looking forward to visiting again one day.

Wonderful food served promptly, and despite it being busy when we went, the layout allows you to feel like you have your own space. A lovely place which I'll definitely return to!
J. B.
Absolutely perfect! No need to say anymore, quality of food, cleanliness and service from the staff are all perfect! Highly recommended to anyone and will most definitely be looking forward to going back there!

Went down on Friday meal at 4PM Staff and food first class Two of us were going else where in the evening .our partners had a meal at 7 and although busy first class again Had breakfast this morning also . well done staff. If going at busy periods book

Used The Jack Rabbit because it happens to be across the car park from The Travel Inn. However, it's worth seeking out. As well as a good selection of beers they also serve very good food.
Whether it's an evening meal or breakfast you are unlikely to be disappointed. It's just up the road from the hospital so if you are visiting, and want a change from canteen food, it's worth the short walk. As a bonus I think you'll be pleasantly surprised at the prices as well.

Nice meal sat outside it was good
J. K.
Friendly atmosphere great food

Had a fantastic evening meal Steak and sea bass and full english breakfast the following morning.
Thr staff were very freindly and welcoming accommodating my fussy 7 year old for both meals.
Would highly reccommend and we're thinking of booking up for Christmas

Only popped in for a coffee to kill some time but the place was nice and clean with friendly staff. Coffee was tasty too 😋

Good food, friendly atmosphere. Excellent staff make it an enjoyable experience. I would say it's as good if not better that the Dirty Duck in Belfast. Highly recommended

I really like this place, and there are cheaper options on the menu, but I find the food a bit expensive for a pub. That's the only reason for 4 stars instead of 5. Apart from that, great atmosphere, long opening times and ample parking.
M. S.
Convenient local, there are the usual chavvy types there whose presence is an irritation but this applies to any pub. The drinks are a bit expensive and it would help if they didn't serve pizzas on chopping boards, but the quality is good overall.
J. E.
Great service, great food, could do with more choice for the gluten free and dairy free diets.
P.
Lovely meal and cosy atmosphere. Pity that there was no ale available at the time..
M. M.
Lovely food great atmosphere, nothing is to much trouble for the waiting staff or the management team. Would highly recommend this place for family meal or just for 2 of you
R. B.
Food was delicious and place is nice. Unfortunably there is just one out of ten waitresses caring about you after waiting over half an hour for another order or the bill (several times).
R. T.
Popped in for a quick drink mid afternoon.
Service was ok but slow.
However every empty table was dirty and not cleared. Chairs were very stained and dirty. Wouldn't rush back
c. B.
Had a lovely drink and meal with some friends. The staff were so lovely and attentive too!
J. S.
Went here for Christmas Lunch with my family. We were one of the first tables there, and the service was prompt and friendly. The food was good, and there was a good selection of beers and wines to choose from.

Difficult To Work Out How To Get In . As you travel up the A386 towards Tavistock from Plymouth you will see the Jack Rabbit on your right just after the now infamous Derriford roundabout . But how to get in ? is the question . Follow signs for Marjon the do a hairpin left turn as if you were going to visit the Mercedes Benz dealership and bingo you're there . But there are no posted directions so you will either have to get guidance or have local knowledge . This will be off putting for first time visitors .
Once inside go straight to the bar and enter your vehicle registration on keypad provided to avoid hefty fine (which is imposed to stop people who are visiting the hospital and don't want to pay parking fees ) . I don't know if this is part of chain or not , but it certainly has that feeling, this not a criticism just an observation .
Service is prompt , polite , polite and efficient . As to the food , cannot complain about quality for price , however I have found that some portions on starters could be more generous and in my opinion fall below average standards . Some deserts have a " bought in " feel about them .
Worth a visit though , just not exceptional in either a positive or negative manner

Very nice & relaxing place very clean covid friendly loving staff plenty off car parking spaces
