Fantastic food and a massive amount of food, such a lovely place with lovely decor and friendly staff, highly recommend I would call the fish and chips whale 🐋 and chips 😋 try for yourself and you'll see.

The place is nice having a beer garden and the staff were pleasant. However, despite the portions being generous, we were dissapointed with the food. We had Sunday roast, I went for chicken which I was not able to consume, it was hard rock and tasteless, I ended up consuming my veggies only. My partner went for the beef and he found a massive black hair in between his slice of beef. He informed the staff and they made him another portion which he actually enjoyed. The coke was awful and the cappuccino was weak. If you want to avoid the struggle, bring your own knife. Would we come again? No.

4x lovely meals, everyone enjoyed their food. All meals were hot and well presented. Staff very welcoming and helpful. Definitely will got back again. Well we returned after our great experience before, but sadly I can't say the same 😏. When we arrived they had very little left on the menu, we changed our order but didn't realise it was a cheaper option therefore didn't get a refund. The gas had gone on the soft drinks maker, the young lad changed it but still the drinks were coming out flat. The staff all seemed cheerful enough but not sure if we'll be returning.

Oh my word! Visited on Sunday 3rd July, after reading the reviews. They weren’t wrong. Had an older teenager and 3 young children with us. The staff were amazing, the food was delicious and the childrens play area is a valuable asset. Will definitely be going back 🤩

I'm simply in awe over some of the negative comments and reviews that have been given previously. I attended today with my wife, son and grandmother, could the experience be better? No. The food was out of this world, all of us left feeling totally satisfied. I haven't been to the Plymstock for a good five or so years, admittedly, I'm impressed with the service, presentation and mostly the food. In addition to that, in the beer garden there is a children's play area. The staff were so polite, friendly and helpful. They also gave us plenty of choice. We will be returning to support this fantastic local business. Outstanding. See you soon!

Popped in for food and had a roast. It was amazing. Both me and other half said it was one of the best pub roasts we had ever had. Meat was great quality, cauliflower cheese amazing. Would definitely go back and recommend..

This is an edit of my previous review, that was pointed out to me that it appeared overly harsh. Whilst everything I wrote was 100% accurate, it may have appeared overly descriptive. So Tim, let me try round two: The venue has both positives and areas I would like to see improved (for what it's worth). The place itself is in a lovely setting with a beer garden perfect for those spring/summer afternoons. Even the kids are catered for with a play area to keep them occupied. Easy access parking to the rear of the property. They only take card, cash appears to be the enemy of modern British life. Perfect for an afternoon drink in the sun. The staff were friendly and attentive. I've been lucky enough to eat at thousands of restaurants all over the world and do admit that it's a hard task to wow me so please take into consideration when perusing this persons opinion on the food. The menu was a little less extensive than I would have liked and was lured in by a review of a person that recently had a steak. To my disappointment none to be found on the menu. If you are downing a pint or 5, I'm sure the quick bite selection of burgers and sandwiches to soak up the booze will be fine by most but if you have an adventurous palette...not really the place. I did favourably mention the fries/chips last time... they are pretty good. A big bowl of them may do the trick next time. Maybe Tim will take this in the way it is intended or you can attack the customer...either way...it will make my day.

Always a lovely place to eat and drink. Nice menu and caters for " gluten free " food. As we take an elderly lady friend for a meal there and they're always very accommodating. I recommend it.

Whilst the front of house staff were very polite, we had to ask for menus and to be told it was not table service. Sadly all the meals came out barely warm and had to be sent back. Others had the same issue. The front of house staff acted effectively to resolve the issue.

Friendly staff, food tasted good - fish & chips for me, lasagne for my wife. Batter was nice & crisp, but it wasn't a very big piece of fish & not many chips. The lasagne was good though. The menu is good, with a specials board as well. We will give it another try, as last time, I had one of their burger meals & that was fine. It's worth a try. Had a good meal Sunday lunchtime in Feb 2022, still friendly & good service.

Food isn't bad, although not always cooked particularly well. We had prawns which were blatantly undercooked, the response from the waitress was "I'll let the chef know" no apology or rectification. Nice outside area for the children. Standard drink pricing and a reasonable selection. Just wouldn't recommend the food.

I have always thought for many years that if someone deserves a mention because of good work then it should be done. I visited the Plymstock Inn with some friends who had just returned from their holiday. We were all excited for a drink and to catch up with each other before Christmas Day. We entered the Pub and were instantly made up by the great atmosphere we walked into. The place was buzzing and everyone had a smile on their faces. I have always been a person who likes great service and will always look for it where ever i go. On this particular evening i was drawn to a young lady behind the bar who not only looked very professional but also under extreme pressure kept her cool at never faltered in any way during the course of the evening. She was very busy and managed to keep everyone served and happy. My friend even offered her drink but she quietly declined. I want to say that whoever employed this lady has done a great job and if she wants a job where i am she would more than welcome.

Been before the new owners took over. Not much changed on the inside. If we came with the kids they would have struggled as the play area that used to be there has been demolished! Wanted to see what it was like now. We had a roast and a beef burger. the food was really nice and the staff were friendly and accommodating. It was also quieter than we expected at 17:30 but ideal for us!! Also impressed with the gluten free options!

We had the roast, there was plenty of meat but the veg came out separately and unfortunately it was not enough for the three of us. We would have preferred it already served up on the plate, also food could have been a bit warmer.

Its OK but needs a bit more effort to gain a really good rating in my opinion. Of course my opinion may well not be representative of the Plymstock public generally. The Jail ale today was not so good and 30p a pint more than some other pubs in the area. The staff are welcoming and reasonably professional. Though there are two tills they only use one which clogs up when busy and is one of those silly little things that really irritates. However, the food is ok and overall the establishment is tremendously better than it was before the current owners took over.

Opened with new landlord. Layout awful, food good but limited range, service terrible. Closed after a week. Shame. Since my last review the Inn went out of business then reopened. The new staff are much more friendly and efficient, and the setup more comfortable. Four of us ate there and our opinions ranged from good to average. Prices were very reasonable. I may be picky but I don't understand why we had to go to the bar to order our food and drinks when food was served at the table and the place was not busy. Has a lot of potential if the staff continue to work at it! This is our local and it should be the default place to go for us, but not yet. Will try it again in a week or three.

Great service and polite staff. I really enjoyed my starter off 3 large crispy chicken fillets with salad and two types of dips, mustard and BBQ. The main course was great as well, creamy mushroom sauce, chicken, bacon and Tagliatelle. Well Done.

Roast Beef with extra roast potatoes and Yorky's was spectacular and burgers were epic aswell. Service from booking table on phone to paying bill at the end was exemplary and friendly. Will definitely be back. Didn't have enough room for the desert menu which is a shame as it all looked scrumptious.

The pub itself hasn't changed much over the years and the food still remains pleasant. Just the usual pub grub. I would return again BUT I wouldn't have the bread and butter pudding......cherries and chocolate didn't cut it for me or my guest at all.

We have seen the Plymstock Inn go through a myriad of changes over the past few years. Although it now takes on more of a restaurant vibe as opposed to the traditional country pub it used to be, it still retains it’s local charm. The food from previous experience has been nice however I do miss the pool table.

Really good to have a proper village pub here in Plymstock . We have little choice in the area of nice friendly pubs . Re-opened in the summer and had a make over , staff are warm and friendly and you get served with a smile and not a snarl . I hope it goes from strength to strength.
