Fantastic restaurant and bar with great staff and lovely food

First visit. Lovely village pub with three or four different rooms. Warm cosy and comfortable atmosphere with friendly staff. Quite a good menu with several choices and decent prices in these difficult times. Two meals, small portion fish and chips, pan fried salmon. Came well presented, hot and well cooked. First class pint of cask beer. Will certainly visit again.

Two of us went in on a Friday early for food+drinks, it was the best service, very attentive and the food was great. Price was reasonable given quality and service. I noticed it was dog friendly. Recommended.

Wow...what a wonderful experience. This is a country pub with style and grace. I've been meaning to try this place for a long time but never found the opportunity. I visited on a January Saturday for early dinner with my elderly father. I'd booked online and in the comments asked if they could put us somewhere warm for my father and that we were heading back from panto a good 30 mins away and could possibly be 5-10 mins late. We were greeted with a fabulous welcome, seated next to a roaring fire and politely asked how the panto was. I really appreciated the attention to detail. We were promptly provided with menus after we'd sat down and got settled and our drinks order was taken. Food order was taken a short while after. At no point was I left wondering as to how that would happen. The food was delicious. Couldn't fault it. Reasonably priced for excellence. Staff were attentive without being intrusive. I'll definitely be back. Thank you for a wonderful evening to our day.

Wonderful pub with fabulous decor. You can feel the warmth of the atmosphere as soon as you walk in. The staff are friendly and attentive and the price for food is very reasonable. The hidden Gem out the back is a beautiful Teepee. We'll worth a visit.

Brilliant for dog owners like ourselves, we were made more than welcome! The food was good and we had a good family get together in nice surroundings, we didn't order our dogs food from the menu as we had brought their own food so I cannot comment on their reaction but water bowls were brought without asking so I would recommend giving it a try.

This was good, the food was very acceptable taste wise, I was not impressed with the beverages, i had hot chocolate, it was quite flat and unexciting.. Was not impressed when I had to send it back as it was only warm and the waitress said she wasn't too sure about times in the microwave!!! , ouch!!! Microwave, not a good word to hear..

It's a long time since we went into this pub, but they have made some really good changes. There is a pizza oven outside , but it's only open on a Friday which is a shame.

Been up a good few times, with and without the dog, and from a date night to a three family occasion. Food is always remarkable, Chris and the staff go above and beyond each and every time. Well worth the 40 minute drive from Liverpool.

My husband, puppy and I have just dined here and I honestly can't rate it highly enough! From start to finish the whole experience was wonderful. All the staff are incredibly friendly and extremely efficient. It has a wonderful log burning stove and charming decor, making the whole place feel very welcoming and yet is truly dog friendly. The food was delicious, I can highly recommend the mushroom risotto and lemon posset. This is a real gem of a place to go and we most certainly will be returning.

Great food. Good selection of cask ales and wine but the best part was the service. The manageress gave us so much attention. She even knew better than me what I wanted to eat. She was right. The beef Wellington was perfect. This is our new go to place.

Had a fabulous lunch here after a walk around Birchcroft nature reserve with the dogs. Great, friendly gastro pub with a choice of menu's. We had the set menu, two courses for £12.95. Excellent value for money and the food was fresh, tasty and satisfying. We will definately be going again.

Food, service And prices excellent. Best pub we have found for a long time - even the wife loved it. We live in Hesketh Bank which is reasonably local within 6 miles. The decor and ambiance are also aligned to a good nights dining.

We dined at the Golden Ball last Friday evening, four of us as we have done many times before. Once again, lovely meal, very friendly staff and will certainly go again. My three companions ordered desserts, as women do, But not for me usually. However, I decided to have plain vanilla ice cream, with no sauces on . Now, this is where things went wrong. I never looked at the menu so ate three very small blobs of ice cream, it was only when we received the bill that I had been ripped off to the tune of £6. !!!! Ridiculous in my humble opinion. So be warned , don't have plain ice cream. !!!!!!!

Saturday night at the Golden ball Longton.. Staying with my sister and brother in law Lynsey and Martin for the night. They take us here where Chris from per tutti Manchester brought is skills to Longton. I moved out of Preston in the mid 80s so returning occasionally to enjoy a meal out is lovely. We have eaten in a few places and not always impressed, but last night that changed. The rib eye steak oh wow best I've eaten for a long time my hubby had the chalk stream trout he said was amazing.. well done to you and your team

Friendly staff, very expensive (£7 for a single gnt), not many healthy options available, the deep fried elements looked slightly over cooked, the pork pie on the ploughmans looked cheap and pale and only 1 slice of bread (crusts removed) on a sharing platter had to pay for extra?!
