My family hired the function room with a buffet for a wake. Everyone commented on the excellent service and quality of the buffet. It was such a beautiful day we were able to go out in the lovely beer garden making for a very relaxed atmosphere. We had an excellent day thanks to Julie and her wonderful staff. Could not recommend enough.

We held my Father in Laws wake here on the 31-05-2022. Staff were very efficient attentive and polite the food was excellent and piping hot. Very reasonably priced for food and drinks with plenty of outdoor space. If you like to take in some fresh air. Highly recommended for drinks and meals

This is not a public hospital but a great public house that serves up 1st class food, my plate was full and so was my belly, what more would you want, give it a try, it's well worth it.

Fantastic place, delicious food and a fabulous drinks menu! Lots of outside tables on a grassed area, which also has a nice little fence all around it. Also a lovely seating area on the outside patio. There are lots of outdoor heaters for when it's cold. We have just moved into the area, a lovely short walk from our new home 🏡. We are really happy this will be our local from now and can't wait to visit more often!

Lots of tables outside. Outside heaters and nice decking , sheltered area. Fenced off grassed, garden which is great for children. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Food was quick, tasty and reasonably priced. We sat outside so we had to order off the garden, which was a limited menu. Their were a few vegetarian options, including veggie curry, burger, or JP or sandwich from the sides menu. I had the veggie burger, fries and a side onion rings, it was one of the best veggie burgers I've ever had. Thanks

Okay. Not great. Our starters were good (cheesy garlic bread, nachos with toppings) but the mains were disappointing (cheese pies, steak and ale pie). Chips were a bit rubbish and the pies weren't great. Not sure we'd come again.

Lovely outside dining garden space for my 18 month grandson to play safely. Excellant staff, very friendly and helpful. Sadly parts of the food let it down in some ways. My son had the gammon and really enjoyed it, we had veggie Sunday dinner, all was ok except the roast potatoes were not cooked through, there wasn't enough gravy and the nut roast was more like a veggie burger in taste and presentation. Great Yorkshire puds, could have eaten a plateful of them! My grandson had the fish goughons from the children's menu, the batter was greasy and he didn't eat any of them after the first bite. The chips were fries and rather salty, not the best for little people. He did love the peas though. Real chips rule for sure! I will go again as it is local and I like the atmosphere, relaxed and friendly.

Excellent wheelchair access to this pub and nice and level inside. The tables are suitable for the wheelchair, also there is a disabled toilet. The service and assistance is excellent. I had the mixed grill which was spot on very tasty and well worth the money. I can highly recommend this restaurant /pub

Our waitress was very sharp and abrupt. We sat in garden and awaited table service then she approached and said gave you ordered! To which my reply was no we were asked to sit and a member of staff will take your order Her answer well I'm on my own. I didn't complain to her but her attitude was not welcoming.

First time I've visited hospital inn,in quite some time. This was on a Sunday afternoon and was fairly quiet when we arrived,then got busier later on. The menu choice was extensive and varied.the starter - black pudding and bacon topping was a hearty portion,as was the main course of - steak and kidney pudding with chips and peas.that was rounded off with a desert of - lemon tart and ice cream.quite filling - understatement! A pleasant pub atmosphere with a fine selection of house and guest ales - well recommended for delicious,traditional home made food. Now to quite a serious downside: shown to our table and underneath my chair was discarded crumbs and food from previous diners.not a pleasant site and pretty much a disgrace if I'm honest.stops it from getting top marks - pity. A bit more observation from the staff would be a very good recommendation I reckon.in the current climate of a certain virus doing the rounds (if you get my drift).

Not the best. After booking a table for 6.30 we where taken directly to our table and told there would be a wait for food. We eventually gave our order in and had to wait for over half an hour for garlic bread. The waitress then appeared to tell us there was only one sizzler left after we had ordered four. We then had to reorder so the wait for food just got longer. They seemed to have packed people in and there wasn't much social distance although we wasn't to bad where we sat. Food wasn't anything to shout about when we eventually got it and to be honest with the wait we had got past it. Shame because it is a nice place.

Been here 3 times since it changed hands and it has vastly improved. The staff are lovely and prices are reasonable. I had lasagne today, it was a decent portion and very tasty. They serve REAL chips too. Desserts are amazing.They cook most things from fresh so expect a bit of a wait when in a large party but service is usually pretty quick. There's free flavoured cucumber water at the bar so not sure why another reviewer claims to have been charged for tap water... Give it a try, you won't be disappointed

Definitely will be back again Alot of places reduced the portion of the food in the August half price days or made a separate menus but the food we had today was massive and everything other than alcohol drinks was in offer .

Visited Sunday evening at 5pm. The place had a good busy buzz to it. Family groups and a mix of patrons. The beer was well kept, serving staff attentive & efficient. Roast beef dinner rated good, minty lamb good, five bean chilli also good. Chicken & black pudding was good but a tad cooler than it should have been served. Apart from the chicken, everything was tip top. Would definitely recommend.

I visited with a colleague for a late lunch this week and wasnt disappointed. It was my first visit in at least 4 years and I can honestly say that the food, service and ambience is still as good as it was years ago. I think the owners may have changed but the quality good and service hasn't which is fabulous! As it was a sunny (yey!) day, we sat outside in the extensive beer garden. I was glad to see plenty of umbrellas as I burn easily (pasty British skin!). My ordered the chicken and black pudding and I ordered the cheese and onion pie. Both meals were of a good size and quality. The seasonable vegetable accompaniments were seasoned very well with herbs. The meals took around 10 minutes to arrive. We asked for a bottle of tap water to go with our soft drinks and were pleased to be given a large decanter with a grolsh bottle style flip top bottle cap fresh out of the fridge, perfect for the hot weather! The prices were reasonable. Would definitely recommend.

We've been visiting The Hospital Inn for over 15 years, since we live fairly close by, and can walk to it in less than half an hour. This means that we've seen it go through quite a large number of changes, both to its style and to its menu... We also remember it being attacked by an armed gang, and a police officer being shot, but that's a different matter... The thing that really makes The Hospital Inn stand out in the local area is how receptive it is to customers who prefer gluten free food, whether because of lifestyle choices, or because they are allergic to wheat like my wife is. The Hospital Inn has a comprehensive gluten free menu, which includes (unusually!) a great selection of desserts! This is really great for couples or families where one person needs gluten free option, since in many places there is limited choice. The Hospital Inn, however, has a comprehensive gluten free menu, and it's all nice. Their food is generally pretty good for pub fare, but my wife just being able to pick off a comprehensive menu including desserts without any fuss is a revelation, and for this reason it is highly commended!

Eventually I found someone to ask and then used the back patio door. Other than that the bar was very busy with Sunday lunches, it was cosy but dark inside but typical of a country pub. They were very busy which might explain why the service had a few problems such as one of us having to settle for a different meal to that pre-ordered and missing deserts for a couple of our party. I went to The Hospital Inn today for lunch with my husband. The service was reasonably friendly and professional however we weren't asked at any point if the food was okay. The fish pie was tasty enough but the vegetables were awful. They had the taste and consistency of cardboard and I can't comprehend what process had been used to make them so unpalatable.

Changed hands and is unfortunately not half as good as it use to be. Now an average pub serving average food at more expensive prices. A big shame as it seems to have declined. Hopefully this is only a blip. Last meal a week ago was reasonable, however the old recipe used had been changed and "dumbed down" but the price not. The visit before in a party of four three people's meals were not up to standard with one person's food being sent back three times as the fish was frozen in the middle each time!
