R. A.Myself and 5 of my friends went to Hunters for their 3 course Christmas meal. The food was really good. The vegan menu was excellent! I had the mushroom tart, the nut roast and then chocolate junkyard for dessert. All three courses were fabulous, my friends all seemed to really enjoy their food too. The tables were all decorated with Christmas crackers and Santa hats, the place looked really nice. We were then invited to play a few (free) Christmas games winning a bottle gin before moving to the dance floor to dance the night away. Over all a lovely evening, great food, helpful friendly staff with a warm friendly atmosphere
S. F.Enjoyed my besties 60th birthday lunch on 12th October. Booked (although wasn't really needed). First time the four of us had been in a very long time. Heard good things, so decided to try it out. Wasn't disappointed. The food was very good and service exemplary. I ordered the steak and blue cheese salad. Plenty of steak on the plate and very tasty. Was a tad disappointed that it was a blue cheese dressing rather than actual cheese but nonetheless, it was very good. I did order a portion of sweet potato fries to go with (well you do don't you 😂) My partner had steak pie and friends had gammon and sirloin steak. All said their food was lovely. We didn't indulge in any dessert as had birthday cake to devour when we got back home 😋 Now this is my fault but, as a wine drinker, I had two glasses of sauvignon blanc (large) with the meal. I didn't ask prices as it was a birthday celebration and thought what the hell. When we asked for the bill, my wine was by far the most expensive item. I have to say, it was gorgeous wine, so although very expensive, I really enjoyed it. Perhaps next time, I'll order a different beverage 😁

C. O.Me and my mate went for a late birthday treat last week and we both got the mixed grill swords. The food was absolutely lovely and everything was cooked perfectly. The only thing nicer than the food was the staff.
You can tell they all enjoy their jobs and were as nice to each other as they were to us. From just passing us/each other with a smile or a hello to being extremely polite whilst taking orders or even having a conversation with you. Absolutely loved it and will be back again.

G. W. C.Just visited on Sat 3rd Sept, there was 12 of us including kids. Tables not set out great, 3 of us had to be separated from the other 9...better planning from Hunters would have helped. 3 got starters and these didn't arrive before mains started coming out. Food was decent and like everywhere prices have risen since our last visit.. One person had a piece of plastic in his burger, obviously not great.. They said everyone could have a drink of their choice to make up for it and some timings for some getting their mains taking too long..Overall the food was good, chips could be improved with their burgers and the turnips where way to hard.

The staff were all lovely but I've knocked a star off as the service itself wasn't 100% as in food not brought out together and then dirty plates left for ages after we finished but the main reason is no sugar soft drinks available. I'm allergic to artificial sweeteners and my partner have won't have them as he hates the taste. I know draught isn't always available but there is normally a glass bottle or even can option for full fat coke.

Also staff are trained to such a high standard and so helpful. Probably one of the best places to have a chill and great food in preston.

We booked a table to come out for a family meal, however when we got in we had to wait around 20 minutes for a table even when we booked as it was so busy. And obviously the packed restaurant effected service speed for drinks, and the wait for our meal. I had the scampi and chips which was presented in a very unique way. The actual scampi was great! The chips were green in some places but was still edible just tasted a tad funny. And the peas were very hard so I didn't eat much of them. So overall the experience was good, just the waiting around was the main issue, but if it wasn't busy you wouldn't have business I suppose.

J. N.After having a refurb a few weeks ago, this place was heaving by 7.30pm on a Friday night. Luckily my friends and I pre-booked a table for 5pm so we beat the masses. Table service isnt provided so you have to order and pay for food and drinks at the bar. The food was very good. Decent sized portions and good quality considering mid range prices. Prosecco at £10/bottle (on offer) was a bargain too. The home made cakes look divine and the milkshakes will be a big hit with the children. I would definitely recommend.

What a lovely welcoming experience from the staff, everyone that looked after us made

The menu has a good range to chose from and we both enjoyed our choices, the Pizza looked
good and also the Swords that other customers had.
Would recommend giving this place a try as both the staff and the food make it worth it.

S.Me and my wife generally call here for lunches. I've never been in the evening so can't really comment about then I'm afraid. So, food is usually the mainstream pub fair but cooked well and reasonably decent portion sizes. The great thing about lunchtime is it's usually pretty quiet. Lots of TV screens around with sport on permanent if your into sport etc,not my thing but hey ho. Nice booth type layout in the back room for a slightly more private feel to things but the the stand out feature here is the staff! Very friendly, nothings to much trouble. You don't wait ages for your food either. They sell my personal fave beer (coors) which is a bonus. There's some development going on outside at the moment. I havnt really asked about it but from the carpark it looks like outdoor undercover seating of some kind. There's an outdoor kids area if your taking them along to keep em occupied👍. If your not local it may seem a tad awkward to find at first but it's really close to the capital centre retail park and eSily reached from j29 m6, j1 m65 being just a 3 minute drive away.
Drop in, have a bite and drink. Only small niggle is the decaf coffee is instant but my wife says it's a decent brew!

What I can review is the customer service, the staff, to a man/woman are the most friendly I've seen as a team in any hospitality venue, without them being false or over the top, that culture comes from the top, so well done to the General manager for building that culture!
d. w.Wow!! We've not been here for quite some time, but oh my - how things have changed! Food is simply outstanding 👌 we're more local to Haighton Manor, Hand and Dagger, White Bull at Alston, and Alston Arms ... genuinely, none of them compare to Hunters. My mum had roast leg of lamb, kids had chicken wraps, husband had scampi, and I had one of THE best cheese and onion pies that I have ever tasted. Presentation was spot on, you could see the thought and care which had gone into it, and the food ridiculously hot - nothing tepid. Whatever you guys have done here, whatever staff changes you have made - DO NOT change them - keep doing what you are doing, and keep serving really good food, really well. WE WILL BE BACK 😃

T. H.Always lovely food, but came for our sons first birthday in a large party. My son has food intolerances and the staff were brilliant from the start. They sent me a list of suitable dishes and adapted a dish for him so he could enjoy it with us. Unfortunately there were no suitable desserts for him on the menu, but they were happy for us to bring his birthday cake and provided us all with plates and cutlery so we could consume it together. Would definitely recommend and wouldnt hesitate to bring my son with us again as we know he can be catered for no problem.

R. D.Nice pub, staff and menu. Steak was too tough though. Four of our party had the steak and all thought the same. I assume it is delivered frozen and then cooked. Also my mash tasted a little 'instant' which was disappointing. I imagine this is an outstanding place when there is an outside event, excellent set up. I have friends who recommend this restaurant so perhaps we caught it on a bad day.

Great Covid track and trace and social distancing rules in place. The app to order was a little tricky to download and work but we got there in the end. Staff were extremely helpful and polite. Food was to a good standard and very tasty. I would 100% recommend eating here. Such a shame it was raining on the day of our visit. Looking forward to returning in the future.

The food is over priced. It was £18 for ribs, restaurant prices in a pub. Which to be honest were tasteless. The was virtually no sauce on top of the ribs, and the meat hadn't been seasoned.
No one came over to ask if everything was OK, which in my book is a must do.
It was very hard to catch a member of staffs eye to order more drinks.
No one came over to ask if we would like more drinks.
There's a sign above the bar stating world wines and cocktails. We asked what cocktails are available and was told we don't do cocktails.
Not looking good is it.
We spent over £122 and when we started to leave and walk out no one said thank you.

S. C.Menu has quite a lot of items unavailable..Food was good but maybe not as good as previous visits. Uncomfortable seating. Unsuitable for older guests. Friend staff need to communicate more with guests at table. Additional training in customer services? Needs air con installing for customer comfort.
C.Went for the first time this evening as we're fairly new to the area and it won't be our last visit. The pub looks great, all of the staff were so friendly and helpful and the food was brilliant! We'll be coming back soon 👏 👏

It was all very delicious! big potions couldn't finish it all, I had garlic ciabatta which was very tasty, chicken sword kebab huge potion and tasted delicious! Very fresh tasting and for dessert Manchester tart with cream absolutely amazing. The place itself is very modern and clean the food came out in good time and the staff where Fantastic so friendly and helpful very well mannered. We will definitely be returning again.

However, it is well laid out and very well organised, with most seating being able to be under cover if required and the ability to order from the table. Drinks a little pricey but food (on previous occasions) has been a good quality.

R. H.Its a lovely place and staff are lovely. Had to order on app which is fine but had to order separately. This caused a big delay between meals (about 30 mins) but staff were fab and refund given. Food is lovely and kids portions while pricey are amazing!

D. S.Pleasant outdoor area, however I'd completely forgotten that it's app ordering only. I spent a good fifteen minutes downloading the app and payment method and then further time familiarising with the site and menu. I wasn't too impressed when knowing I only wanted a low calorie lunch the only outdoor option was pizza and garlic bread.I only discovered this once the app was installed and that I could look at the menu. It's a lovely place and staff very helpful but I find in the post covid coping era don't expect the friendly waiter banter and attention to detail at the table. Download the app before visiting it takes out the frustration, oh for the days of spontaneity! 🤣

Our only criticism was that our food wasn't all brought out together and we were part way through our meals before the remaining dishes were brought to the table. D. P.I ordered takeaway yesterday afternoon, for three people, for collection in the evening. Ordering over the phone was easy and I was given an 'appointment' time (6:55) to pick it up.
The food was excellent, as was the service on collection. Social distancing was easy.
Please support your local pub, it will really struggle to say open without our help at this very difficult time.
P.S. Our food came in paper cartons, rather than polystyrene, which meant that nothing had gone 'soggy' . Excellent.

C. B.I honestly can't rate this place enough!! Finally, after moving to the area a couple of months ago, we tried The Hunters are we weren't disappointed. We had amazing starters, and my partner couldn't fault his roast beef dinner. I also had this, and wasn't too keen on the beef, all be it I'm not a massive fan of beef anyway but wanted to try it. I found it quite dry but I thought I was being picky as my partner loved his and it looked lovely. When the plates got taken, someone, I presume the manager came over and asked what we had for mains. We told him, and he asked who left their beef and said that he actually tried mine from my plate and wasn't happy with it and explained what he thought had happened and spoke to the chef about it. He then sorted a discount of my food and desserts as he wasn't happy with the food I had, asking if I wanted a replacement. Overall, the food, atmosphere and service is a complete 10/10 and we can't wait to return!
M. Y.I got recommended the roast beef and it did not disappoint. Cooked to perfection and falls apart in your mouth. Veg, potatoes lovely and definitely worth £2.50 extra for the cauliflower cheese. Child portion was very generous. Ordered and paid over the phone with Jack who is extremely friendly. Collected at my allocated time, on time and piping hot when I got it home. Can't wait for the pub to re open properly so I can wash it down with a nice glass of red. Until then though, takeaway will have to do. Same time next week. 👍

J. H.Hadn't been to the Hunters since March 2019 as it wasn't particularly good but just been tonight because it is relatively close to home and my what a transformation! We had starters, mains and dessert and it was outstanding! The place was heaving so word is obviously out how good it is. You could tell there were a lot of happy customers. The portions were large and the quality was exceptional. All staff were also a delightful team. This will now be a first choice for dinner. Loved it.

D. R.Went to the Hunters for Christmas dinner and despite having concerns over the actual quality / service there was absolutely nothing to worry about as the whole experience was excellent from start to finish.
There was a warm welcome on arrival and we were shown to a beautifully decorated table (9 adults). Table water was provided as was bottomless tea and coffee throughout.
The food was delicious - every course was well received. The service was also excellent, nothing seemed like too much trouble and if a question couldn't be answered at the table, someone always came back to provide a response. All the staff were polite, patient and attentive and we never felt rushed or pressured to hurry. In fact we sat down at 12pm and left around 2:45pm having a nice gap between courses.
We would like to thank Stuart and his staff for their great organisation and service on the day - we really enjoyed it and felt it was good value for money.
We have visited a few establishments in the area and this one stands out for its atmosphere, surroundings and quality of service - we will be back!
(Had brunch here a few weekends ago and again could not fault the service and quality - would definitely recommend).

There were eight of us on both occasions and despite having to wait approx 3/4 of an hour it was worth the wait as the food was really good. Everyone commented on how much they enjoyed it. The staff were also good, friendly and attentive.

The garlic bread and cheese was a good portion with plenty of cheese, perfectly cooked. But the swords... wow now these were something completely unique!
Taste was spot on and the portion size was incredible. Even without the 50% off it would have been worth it!

The food was very good and the menu was very varied. The prices were so good that we have now booked for the festive afternoon tea with carol s on the 19th of December. They have so many menus and entertainments planned for the festive season that I suggest you have a look online or give them a ring.
It is the first time I have been there and I will definitely be going often.

I. C.Nicely refurbished gastro pub with a separate restaurant and bar. We visited on a busy Saturday night. Food took almost an hour to arrive and wasn't hot when it got to us. Tasted good though! No one checked up on us when food arrived. Complained after the meal and got a refund.
Despite this, I would go again. The menu is unusual and intriguing. Food is good. They just need to sort their service issues out.

Mg wife and I visit fairly regularly for a drink, and occasionally for a meal.
Although we have not had what I would call a poor meal some have been better than others, so no real cause for complaint.
However, from speaking to friends who spent a substantial amount of money on a meal on Christmas day it was atrocious with many of them receiving money back and a free drink by way of apology.
This was compounded by a similar situation on New Years Eve, poor food and service followed by another apology and free meals and drinks.
The Hunters is gaining an unwanted reputation for sub standard food and service, a poor state of affairs.
There is no other pub within walking distance, therefore this area needs this pub to vastly improve, we need the Hunters to succeed.
My comments are not meant to be derogatory, we need the pub, please sort out the issues before locals/ visitors lose faith.
I believe the issues are Chefs who do not stay, why ? Poor pay is what is suggested, not sure if this is the problem but whatever the problem please sort it before it is too late

M. L.We used the function room at the Welcome Tavern for a Christening party and everything was spot on. They provided an excellent buffet and made the room look fantastic, for a very reasonable price too.
