Had a lovely meal last week. The place inside was lovely. The staff were welcoming & polite. We had drinks sat in a quiet part of the pub until we could be seated in the dining area. So nice to have a chat & drink🍹🍺 in a lovely country pub in front of an open fire. When were ready to eat the table seating was very nice real flowers in the vase & a antique candletick holder with candle lit. Have to say was very romantic.💘🌹 The food was amazing (Fish & Chips) complements to the chef.😋 The waitresses were lovely & could not of been more helpful & professional. Cannot wait for our next visit.🍷🍷🍽🍽🥂😉👍

Lovely food lovely staff. Very helpful, shown to our table straight away. Took a while for the food to arrive after our starter, but the place was really busy for a Monday! Apparently like this most of the time so please book. We both had steak sandwich which was perfectly cooked and not chewy at all. I has the blue cheese sauce just enough. (Picture doesnt look great but) The fish n chips were very nice too. We had pate and scotch egg for starter they were amazing. Definitely visit again if I'm in the area.

Attended on a Saturday night with a group of friends and had a great night. Busy venue with good atmosphere and nice decor. A good place to meet with a group..not really a bar place for a quiet drink, could be different in the day. All six people ate with a mixed opinion on the food I had chicken and it was OK.. A friend had Cod and it was on a bed of boiled potatoes..way to many.and did not look appealing, but she said the cod was lovely. Recommend as great night with a group. Chose carefully on the menu. Has good reputation and I'm sure it was the busyness that let the food down a little, as presentation was not great, would definitely drop in and try a lunch.

Came for Sunday lunch last week and loved it. The whole experience was great. My 86 year old Mum had the Plaice special and said it was the best fish she has had for a long time. And that is saying something.

Very busy village community pub, food is great and a great selection of cask ales, two of which are brewed by the owners in nearby Burscough. If you like good tasting beer and home cooked fayre then you won't be disappointed

Very nice country pub, was so pleased that they had a gluten free menu with plenty of choice, the food was fantastic but be warned they are large portions we had a starter and main we both struggled to finish our mains, it's a very busy wee place so booking is probably best, the staff are lovely friendly and helpful, if your in the area don't miss out on this fab place

Booked evening meal ( we were on holiday at local holiday park). We thought it looked a smart pub and it was, the meals were top drawer, the service was amazing, servers were top class, and the prices were a lot less than we normally pay for food of that quality in a smart pub like that. Very comfortable pub,with tables not on top of one another . Homely , friendly staff. Good menu with choices from cooked to salads . Two orders of fishermans pie, large portions kept hot in an iron serving dish. This was an excellent meal, very tasty ,wellcooked. For cask beer fans a great well kept pint. Since lockdown prices have gone up everywhere but not here. Keep up the good work. A pleasant friday lunch.

Took my grandma here for her 86th Birthday today on a recommendation from a friend. Did not disappoint, food was amazing in fact the best I’ve eaten from a pub anywhere in the UK. When the bill arrived I thought it was wrong 3 mains with drinks some sides and two lattes for £40.00 bargain! Staff friendly and service was spot on, everyone you come into contact with is friendly and helpful. Will be coming back as a regular to eat.

This is a beautiful restaurant and bar in Mere Brow. There are two sides to the restaurant, one directly next to the bar and then the main dining area on the other side of the restaurant which looks more recently done up. There is an extensive menu ranging from snacks to starters, lighter bites and main courses. I didn't have dessert but I'm sure they have a range. Today was my 2nd visit both times on a Sunday and I would recommend booking in advance. I saw many meals being carried out and all looked delicious. I had Roast shin of beef which was so incredibly delicious. It was served with a large Yorkshire pudding and roast potatoes and a separate dish of mixed veg (so yum!) The staff are friendly and ultra efficient. I felt very welcome and really full. I have recently visited again and I had the Fish & Chips. Best Fish I've ever had, but absolutely beautiful piece of Haddock. Chips and Mushy Peas to die for.

Called in for a beer at lunchtime, pleasant friendly staff. I'm a cask beer drinker and the Tim Taylors was spot on. Didnt/haven't eaten there but many of my neighbours on the nearby static caravan site have and they universally rave about the quality of meals for decent prices. All say, backed up by conversation with staff don't just turn up for food, ring up and book it gets that busy. Only dropping a star because I've not personally eaten there or experienced food service.

I was looking for somewhere to have a bit to eat today and I found a fantastic wee pub all I can say is that the food was amazing I had fish n chips mushy peas and it was that big a fish I couldn't finish it the staff are so friendly and soon as you ask for something they are there to help thank you

Extensive menu & lovely food- when we got it! We had a table reserved, but still had to wait an hour for our food to arrive. It was a lovely day, and lots of people were arriving to sit outside & order food. There were 8 of us, and a baby- we had a main & a desert, and it took 2 1/2 hours. One of our party is gluten free- so ordered the gf crumble for desert- only to be told they had run out! In fairness the (frazzled) lady in charge of the restaurant seemed to have lots of very young untrained girls to supervise, and we did feel sorry for them all. We don't like to make a fuss & they apologised & knocked a bit off the bill. The Legh arms should perhaps (as another pub we know does) not be so greedy & stick to food only for groups with reservations, at least until staff are fully trained. It's a shame as it was one of our first family get togethers post covid. We'd think twice before going back.

Wonderful lunch today with my 83 year old Mum and friends of my Dad from his days working on the Ships. Food was amazing and the 3 times fried chips the best I've ever eaten. Food was good and first course was served swiftly. But sadly we were unable to order a dessert as we could not attract the waitress' attention as it became too busy too quickly. They are trying with social distancing but there were at least 2/3 tables too many in the restaurant area with sofa's of people just drinking. The people next to us were so close we could not move our chairs back and had no option but to listen to their conversation. We got up to ask for the bill which we were not supposed to do as the signage says to please remain seated but we began to feel uncomfortable, we commented that we were unhappy only to be told, we are busy because of ' Eat out to help out ' so this is how it is! What a shame!

Good priced food and nice friendly staff. Cheesecake of the day was amazing! Just sad I was too full to finish it. Very upset they didn't seem to have any of the ciders I usually drink - including dark fruits - but adding some blackcurrant to the normal cider was just as good. The staff were repetitively asking us if we wanted any more drinks or if we were ready to order - maybe a bit too much! But it was good to know we wouldn't have had to wait too long if we did need anything, unlike at most other places.

Went today (bank holiday Monday) we had a large table of around 20 people, service was well organised, efficient and polite. food was well presented, generous portions, all served on proper plates (not silly wooden boards or slate etc), and piping hot. Good choices for all courses including desserts. My only complaint is the chef needs to seriously reduce the salt content, I really don't mind a little salt but seemed to be very very salty especially my starter ( creamy garlic mushrooms ) otherwise a very pleasant meal. The starter and main course were excellent but after asking twice for the dessert menu and having to wait over an hour between the main course and for it to be served is far too long. Then after another 30 minutes I had to go and find a waitress to ask for the bill. As I said earlier the food was excellent but to be totally ignored for long periods spoiled the evening.

Beautiful steak and ale pie with proper meaty gravy. The fish and chips was plentiful and delicious and the kids' ham egg and chips was a winner with big thick slices of good quality ham and a perfectly cooked egg. The prices here are more than reasonable and service is friendly and attentive. We just about had room for dessert and we're glad we did...brownie, bread and butter pudding and peach and amaretto crumble were devoured alongside the icecream and custard...a comforting, naughty but oh so nice treat on a rainy day!

Now formally doing a vegan range also, instead of just putting something together on the day. This is great news as we love this pub, the staff are great, the atmosphere is nice and the range of drinks is good, especially Blue Moon. Didn't take pics (will do next time), but I had Curry and my wife Mushroom stroganoff - they were both delicious. They had vegan starters and desserts too, which we didn't have.

We had been out for a visit to Martin Mere and planned to go to the Legh Arms for lunch as it is only a few minutes down the road. Have just visited the new part of the legh Arms and is a very nicely converted restaurant although the older part is still the same and might not want to sit in there as it is cramped and hot . Over all quite disppointed as have eaten in the Hop VIne many times ,I tried the pheasant dish,which was very dry and luke warm . then the chocolate torte which was quite hard, not a soft moose as you would expect it to be .My husband had a good portion of Beef bourginion with mash which he said was hot and tasty. Without being rude I would say that the staff were inexperienced ,slow,and not smartly dressed.I asked a few thing about the menu and they didnt know ,,i also heard the same thing on other tables,the waitresses had not had the menu explained to them .I would have expected better service,this menu is not cheap. Will still go back and try again,although did not really enjoy my first visit

We go to a lot of different eating places over the years but the Leigh arms has some of the best home cooked food you would find anywhere. The taste and flavour , you wouldn't find in many other places and I wish it was closer because we live in St.helens so it is a bit of a journey but well worth it. We will return as usual soon.!!!
