Reviews of The Market Tavern
D. H.
I really enjoyed the atmosphere in the pub. There were a few disappointments, we waited for 45 minutes for our meal and we were the second order of the day and when it arrived we weren't given any cutlery to eat it with. However the barmaid was so pleasant and understanding she made the whole experience good. The food was absolutely delicious and exceptionally priced. It was lively and a content place to eat, I would recommend it especially the cheese and onion pie. The servings were plentiful.

Friendly service and well kept beer worth a visit , food a bit pricey

very interesting on LGBTQ evening on a Wednesday, some good people, some fake ones, occasionally a good laugh with karaoke singing, lots of banter for an old style pub,👍
I. A.
Great little pub at the bottom of the old market, choice of real ales and lagers.
A. H.

I went to the Market Tavern in Preston and I enjoyed my visit.
It has been taken over by the owners of the Wing's and Beer Co pub on Cannon Street in Preston.
They have "done it up" so too speak.
It is nice inside.
It has television screens to watch.
The toilets are nice. The toilets are tiled.
I had a pint of Courage Bitter in the Market Tavern in Preston and it was very nice.
I would recommend a visit to the Market Tavern in Preston.

T. B.
Nice stop off pub and no one bothers you. Could do with a bit of background music
E. S.
Good atmosphere, reasonable background music. And good service. Not quite as good as my first impressions when it was first taken over due to the fitting of screens, but I understand why, even my favourite pub has had to.
B. G.
Nice friendly atmosphere and the staff are always cheerie.
S. K.
Excellent city centre pub located, as suggested by it's name, close to Preston's historic markets.
Great real ales as well as Erdinger as a permanent offering in addition to an excellent range of bottled beers including Belgian ales. Also lagers and ciders and wider range of spirits and some wines available.
Warm, inviting atmosphere especially on cold winter evenings and limited outside tables for enjoying cold beer during the summer watching the busy market activity during the day.
The only issue is opening times; some times the pub closes early and sometimes doesn't open at all during the week. We particularly like coming here on Christmas Eve but the pub shut by 9 pm on Christmas Eve 2014 which was disappointing.
I appreciate that staff need a holiday also but surely in the pub trade Christmas is a busy time and folk want to come out and enjoy a few festive beers.
Hopefully the opening times will be made clearer and even better just open till 23:00 every night and perhaps 01:00 on Fridays/Saturdays-I am sure the there will be a lot of custom if this was implemented.

Under new management now who own beer and wings in preston. It is now called the market taps. But the locals still call it the the market tavern. It's a nice small pub with a few guest ales on.
