C. E.
Nice pub. Friendly welcome
C. D.
Nice pub, chilled atmosphere
i. w.
Great pub and beers
D. H.
Very good choice of very cakes and deserts. An even bigger choice of ice-cream. Also an excellent pot of English tea. Our previous visit was in June 2019 - it is even better now. I should point out we live in England.
S. C.
Great pub to visit if you're taking a break of journey at Preston, lovely and quiet in the early afternoon.
J. Z.
Staff responsible and aware of everything. Trains time digit screen right above the bar. Prices alright. Only one thing.... poor selection of lager from the draft. Actually the only choice was Fosters but plenty of dark beers which I don't like myself.
G. H.
Situated across from the railway station and to be honest, it looks a bit rough and ready from the outside, but don't be fooled, its a really good traditional pub, friendly service and a good range of reasonably priced beers. Well worth a visit.
M. M.
We call in here each time we visit or change trains in Preston. It is a nice bright friendly pub, serving good reasonably price home made food and a good selection of drinks including real ales. They also have a live board with train times so you can keep an eye on your train!
T. C.
Nice decent pub close to Preston Railway Station. Friendly staff and decent booze.
S. H.
Surprisingly nice inside for a town pub, but a few steps to negotiate at the front door. Not sure if there is a wheelchair access around the corner or at the back of the pub. Lugged my suitcase up the steps. Very convenient to while away the time until your train is due with the train station just across the street. Friendly staff and atmosphere. Will waste time here again.
C. M.
Read some of the more negative reviews on here so I initially visited with a bit of an open mind! Now? I’m a regular when waiting for trains at Preston!!!! It is a bustling traditional “city pub” pub with an excellent selection of guest cask ales as well as more staple beers (+ other drinks of course) available. The bar staff are a great team who cheerfully fly round to ensure all customers are served promptly which, given the bar is on 3 sides, is no mean feat at times. It serves a very busy “city pub” market and is always full but never feels overcrowded. But, like many city pubs, it is just that – and it does an excellent job too! You will note I have used the term “city pub” several times – because that is what it sets out to be and does it extremely well – in fact, with the guest beers, far better than most. Looking at some of the negative reviews here, it says way more about the “reviewers” than the pub itself to be honest! Would I take my kids there? No … but then I’d not take my car to the Vets to be serviced either!!! It’s “horses for courses” – and what it sets out to do it does brilliantly!
D. B.
Very traditional pub, in a very good location just near the train station, so if you waiting for the next train give it a go. Standart laggers and ales, excellent atmosphere, good beer garden and of course the nibbles to go with the beers. One of my favourite to have the beer and pork scratches after work. Recommended!
P. T.
Good selection of ales available, certainly something for me to look forward to the next time I visit.
C. C.
Excellent pub with efficient friendly bar staff right near the station. It shows live sports too and often both sets of supporters enjoy a friendly mingle in here it's always quite lively and atmospheric. Pop in and see for yourself.
D. A.
If I am in Preston waiting for a change of trains I always go here. Next to the train station they have a TV in the bar with departing train times.
Beer is good, in winter they have a fire, sky sports on, comfortable and clearly a group of regular and after work croud catching a few pints and talking.
Great local pub with a lovely feel.
J. R.
Good pub. Good beer. Too many customers wandering around without masks on.!
J. C.
Good atmosphere after a match while waiting for friends train. Good pint. Good pub. Didn't try the food, but a decent looking menu reasonably priced for pub food. Enjoyed the brief visit.
S. H.
Good beer but a bit noisy
A. G.
This pub is the best thing about the trip home to Edinburgh! Good beer, good food, good atmosphere, and all at a reasonable price. Plus it's just outside the station.
c. c.
Always worth a visit for a decent pint and good atmosphere. Well controlled environment in these Covid times. New beer garden is excellent.
M. M.
Watched the Merseyside Derby in this Freindly pub. Had a good laugh with the manager and staff. A warm greeting awaiting you in this pub, service good beer's excellent all way's a nice pint to be had.
S. O.
Good for a pint while waiting for a train.
S.
My 1st time visiting pubs since they reopened. Went in 4 pubs on Saturday afternoon and The Vic is the 1 I felt the safest in. Fast and efficient bar service. Tables clean. Screens between tables and everyone was either social distancing or the staff reminded them to social distance. 1 guy joined my table the barman quickly asked him to move and sit at his own table. So much better than the 12 Tellers (Wetherspoons) were it seemed like there was no difference since before lockdown. Also the only pub were we got asked for our track and trace details.
R. L.
Not been in for a long time but it was great service and staff
J. C.
Good pub for away supporters to visit. Reasonable prices, decent beer. For a pub that purports to cater for travellers, no decent food though. It's ok, better options for all round catering in Preston though. Possibly missing a trick here.
D. L.
Lovely pub across from the station.. with its own train timetable screen.
Nice beer garden, pool table.
Great evening out.
T. A.
Great pub.Spent a little time waiting for connecting train.Good choice of drinks reasonable priced. Friendly staff and a great Chicken salad sandwich to go, good quality and value. Couldn't have made it better.
k. l.
A proper bar, not trendy, good priced drinks, nice pool room and really nice outdoor section with a TV. No food served which was great so you don't have to watch people eat. TV screens which has horse racing on, volume is low so you can still talk. I liked it and if I was going to Preston again, it would be my first pub to visit.
W. G.
Decent old town centre public house. Bar staff friendly and plenty of real ales. Interior is nice and there are plenty of places to sit. There's a pool table and a dartboard too. The pub is clean and the owners are very nice.
I. N.
Convenient city centre pub near station with a good beer and ale selection for meeting up or waiting for a train. Pool table and TV screens too, but not a typical sports bar.
R. T.
A number of tellies showing a variety of sporting events, a pool table, a decent selection of food, and a friendly welcome - what more could you want? As an 'out-of-towner', I felt very at home here, and was happy to while away a few hours whilst on a business trip to Preston. If I ever find myself here again, I will definitely be returning to The Old Vic.
J. H.
Amazing for a what it is you can happily read a newspaper or have a chat with friends even if the sports are on nice staff and regulars
T. W.
What is this place like for away day fans? Will be coming up tomorrow got 5-6 swans fans? Won't get any trouble from us, just looking to have a few chilled out beers and some grub? I've heard this place is away fans friendly? Thanks again
j. t. b.
Great pub, the only downside was some idiot, elderly looking fella pretending to be waiting for someone talking utter rubbish. he looked old and wrinkly with a walking stick. thought this guy was 90 until I found out he was younger than my dad!. years of speed had accelerated this mans skin into a horrible sight. this does not reflect on the pub though as it was fine.
c.
Great traditional pub
A. W.
Nice pint . Classic decor . Great place to start your night . The beer on offer is a good assortment , good price and it is obvious they have a good clean standard . Morreti on tap ... Oh yes please sir
J. F. R.
I did not visit the Old Vic pub in Preston four days ago as indicated by Google maps.
However I did visit it for about 15 to 20 minutes on Friday 19th April when I was waiting for my bus from Preston railway station to Penwortham (the no 3 bus at 10.15pm).
I cannot really comment as I never bought a drink but it is ok inside and it is one of the most popular pubs in Preston.
I would recommend a visit to The Old Vic pub in Preston.
K. H.
Letting people in without masks made it a little uncomfortable and It is extremely noisy and roudy when football is showing.
A. B.
Location is very handy to the station. It's an old fashioned pub, nothing special but perfectly fine for a pint passing through
H. H.
Great little selection of beer and friendly staff. Would definitely recommend because of the location and how clean it was.
W. (.
Nice spacious traditional pub next to rail station. Food served and good selection of drinks including several real ales.
N. H.
What a gem. Located close to the station, this rustically authentic Lancastrian pub is just the spot for inexpensive chow and drinks (alcoholic or otherwise). If you have time to kill while waiting for your train or simply want a zero-hassle feed, this is the place for you.
D. S.
This pub is next to preston railway station and has one of best choices of real ales on in Preston
Pub can get busy weekends especially when PNE are at home
This pub has tvs for sports events

Great pub. Usually only visit when waiting for a train but never disappointed with the selection of well kept cask ales on offer. They even have Teles with the train times on!
k. 2.
Not a bad pub, not a great one. Dead atmosphere, woman behind the bar slagging off some punters for how they looked to a guy... didn't know I heard 😬.
Pool table at back and plenty of drinks on offer.
