Reviews of The Royal Oak | Riley Green

Stopped for Sunday roast, lovely meal beef cooked perfectly. Not everyone would like pink but it was beautiful. Portion adequate however pricey. Service friendly and you are allowed to bring your pet ( as long as is clean and well behaved- 😀 thanks god ours was)
I. N.
The food as always was very nice. Unfortunately when we visited it was extremely busy - standing room only.
Although there where lots of staff the service was very slow.
R.
Fantastic pub with a great atmosphere, the staff are really friendly and very personable. This is easily one of the best pubs I have ever been to. The fish and chips were to die for. My fiance had steak and kidney pudding which I was jealous of, but both meals were fantastic. Double fried proper chips with noth meals is something that takes longer, but tastes so much better. The ice cream my daughter had was amazing and she's obsessed with honeycomb, so being able to have it as an add on is a great touch. Thwaites have done an awful lot in the past couple of years to improve their pubs and hopefully it'll start paying back in spades once we get over covid. Will definitely be coming back again.
A. F.
Food was lovely and staff were too, very accomodating and helpful. Some other customers didn't seem to notice the staff rushing around and kept calling them over, what a shame.
C. T.
Fabulous steak and ale pie, tasty veggies and gravy. The sticky toffee pudding equally delicious. I understand my friends cheese pie was also top notch and there was almost a fight over the cheesecake. Served a mean pint of ale too. Staff were smart and efficient too. Many thanks, we'll see you again.
K. C.
Me and my wife , had a lovely meal ,the starters both from the special menu, we're very tasty, I had the chicken liver pata and my wife had the crab and salmon , for the main, I had a large steak pudding with chips ,gravy and pea, best I have had anywhere, wife had the stake and ale pie, she thoroughly enjoyed it, our daughter's got us a voucher for our 39th wedding anniversary, ,staff and atmosphere were brilliant i would definitely recommend the royal oak,
R. S.
It was the tiniest portion of food we've ever had.We was still hungry after It.It was well presented and nice staff but it was more like a starter than a main and for £14 it's a bit steep to come away still hungry.
Y. W.
Had delicious dinner today with a friend. She had the steak and kidney pudding and I had the cheese and onion pie, both were perfect!! Staff were lovely and I highly recommend the royal Oak!! Can't wait to go again and try the steak pudding this time it's huge and so s my stomach!!! 😁
J. D.
A lucky find whilst out walking. We only had a starter and desert but they were beautiful and the whole menu looked so interesting. There were lots of things on the menu that I had never seen on a pub menu before and we can’t wait to go back to try them.
U. G.
Brilliant boozer. Food was on par however the drinks seem to be lacking. Main reason for the 5 stars is the stunning staff. Ellie was phenomenal and made me feel very comfortable. Would definitely come again. Mainly so see Ellie.
C. R.
Always a lovely pub to visit for a delicious lunch. Large choice, cooked fabulously and served with a smile. Also a great selection of well kept beers. Will keep coming again and again.
D. W.
Booked for Saturday family meal. Unable to book online so had to do it via telephone. Never received confirmation so I had to ask.
Overall the place is clean and well presented. Staff are friendly. Menu is good with lots of selection.
The meal was ok slightly small portions for the main course unfortunately. However I suppose this would balence out if you had all 3 courses. Maybe add more for those who only have a main.
The disappointing thing was the price of drinks. When I arrived i ordered 3 small lime and soda, 1 small cola, 1 kids drink
£13.90 ouch.
Never bought another drink after that or coffees.
J. B.
Table for 6 booked at 7.45. Didn't realise they stopped serving food at 8pm. We left at just before 10pm as they were making it pretty clear they wanted to close up. Food OK, but quite steep prices for the portion quantities offered. £15.95 for an average steak and ale pie with a few indifferent chips. Shan't be rushing back.

Good food would highly recommend not a big choice but I am a fussy eater . The food came out lovely and fresh and cooked to perfection staff was friendly and helpful looked after us many thanks
B. J.
Lovely English pub the food is great and so are the staff
A. H.
Such a lovely pub. The young waitresses were very nice and helpful. One poor girl had lost her voice but was still smiling and was so nice. The actual pub is very nicely decorated and clean. We got to the pub for 11.30 when it opened and we were warmly welcomed and given a table. We ordered the garlic tomato chill bread which was very light n tasty. We also had the duck spring rolls and they were very nice with plenty of duck inside. We both chose the suet steak and kidney pudding with chips and peas. I opted for Savoy cabbage. The pudding was delicious. It was so big I couldn’t eat the chips. We both really enjoyed our meals. Starters are roughly £6.95 and mains can vary from £10.95 up to £20 depending on what you choose to order. The atmosphere was very relaxing and it wasn’t noisy even when more people started coming in. I’ll definitely be visiting again especially in summer as the beer garden is a good decent size. Two car parks which is a bonus one around the back of the pub and one as the side. We didn’t have any issues with parking which again was a bonus.
L. B.
Great atmosphere, Great food really tasty, Great friendly staff. 10/10fir us
R.
A lovely place, nice, quiet, great food and reasonable prices. We have been quite a few times now 👍
N. B.
Been a few times now and the standards of quality of service, drink, food and menu choices suit all tastes. You may pay a little more, but you will enjoy your visit as a result. Extended the car park to the side as well, beer garden for sunnier times, advise to phone and book a table. Overall we love this special place for those special occasions.
Update 12th January 2022.
As above and we totally enjoyed our meal o ce again. Log fire roaring away to the side of us, very cosy.
Update 27th April 2022.
Another visit, standards, presentation and service all remain very high, a delightful place to visit.

Great food, friendly staff, cosy atmosphere, will definitely be returning.
S. E.
Great food again at the Royal Oak tonight. Thanks to everyone for fantastic food and service. Steve and Ann
J. A.
Cosy atmosphere, food choices are varied. Duck Spring rolls are soft and burgers melt in your mouth. Definitely worth a visit.
S.
Fine country pub, great ales and fantastic staff.
Taster samples given if asked, try before you buy.
A great example of British Pub.
S. B.
Excellent food and the staff are so friendly can't do enough for you.
L. W.
Great food, cosy ambiance and very friendly staff. What more could you ask for?!
D. H.
Really nice traditional pub, great food and good selection of Ales, Friendly staff providing great service.
R. L.
Really nice pub great staff but not cheap maybe that's why a couple of the others in little village areas have closed
P. H.
Absolutely amazing food complimented with warm and friendly staff, really enjoyed our visit.
S. H.
Slow to be served but staff very friendly Food was good and arrived once we were able to order
J. A.
Very tasty Goosnargh chicken, no need for any additional seasoning or extras, filled me up a treat. Just no room left for a dessert!
I. G.
wonderful pub , good service and friendly 👍, good choice of Beers and Gins, lovely interior and historical beams of interest.
M. W.
Excellent food and wine. Lovely atmosphere and excellent service
L. H.
Didn't book but was given table within minutes of arrival. Staff very friendly and polite food was amazing best steak I have had would highly recommend
D. B.
Fabulous welcoming place, very friendly staff, with great beer and really good food. Dog friendly too as an additional bonus. Will be going back.
P. R. (.
Went on a walk around Riley Green ended up back at the Royal Oak for lunch. The 4 of us loved it. 😍
C. M.
We visited today, we were served by a lovely young lady called Molly, the food was amazing, the staff always go that extra mile, with their warm welcome, fast and efficient service, but above all their always smiling, making you feel special. The food is amazing, and reasonably priced, think we have tried everything on the menu, from pies to full roast dinner, and I can honestly say, we have never had a poor meal or service. I would highly recommend a visit, try it out yourself, and like us, you will keep returning, we’ve recently moved to Cumbria, but still travel down once or twice a mth for food and drinks.
J. W.
Nice atmosphere with good food. Cheese and onion pie was gorgeous but I was expecting a selection of veg for the price, instead of the minute offering on top of the pie! I found that it is more expensive than on previous visits. Good table service.
G. S.
Nice enough but not worth the money... Had the steak and ale pie - enjoyable but had a strong 'mince pie' spice flavour which was a little overpowering. Portion size was also on the small side and the price on the high side. That said the staff were lovely and the surroundings are rustic and cosy. There are places not too far away with bigger, better portions for less money.
w. h.
Beer is the best example of thwaites I have experienced in recent years.. food is very good and reasonably priced.
G. B.
Family lunch for 11 adults 3kids on Saturday 30th October.
Shown to a quiet corner (well till we arrived )and drinks orders served promptly whilst we perused the varied menu and specials available.
Food was extremely well presented, tasty and arrived HOT. ( always a good sign of a well run kitchen)
Service was with a smile and server's were very attentive.
The icing on the cake so to speak was the way Shannon made sure our visit went smoothly and our needs were catered for promptly
A thoroughly good experience and highly recommended.
D. S.
Lovely old pub but expensive. Half a draught cider and a non alcoholic ginger beer £7-.
D. M.
We were invited to share a meal with some friends for their birthday. Upon arrival, there was a lovely and welcoming atmosphere, polite and courteous staff and a wealth of delicious dishes to delight the palate. It's the first time my Wife and I had been there, but it won't be the last.
A. L.
Cracking Beer garden to the side, where you can enjoy a drink or meal with stunning views, good selection of drinks including tea and coffee, dog friendly..
B. B.
We didn't book, but the beer was excellent.
The food looked good, so will have to return and make sure we book a table.
A. P.
Always amazing food and great service 👌🏼
B. H.
A pub of character with a great ambiance. Food and service were e xcellent
B. B.
Pleasant country pub and restaurant. On this visit for a drink on a Friday afternoon after a walk the bar service was slooooow. Comfortable and warm with a real coal fire on a cold day.
I've eaten here in the past and the food was good but again the service was slooooow. Must be a feature of this pub.
L. F.
The service from these ladies is excellent!!! The food is wholesome and enjoyable.
s. g.
Lovely coaching house style pub with good food and real ale. Fish and Beer batter lovely. Been again tonight lovely food well observed 1 minutes silence at 8.00pm.
S. M.
Traditional country pub. Good very nice, of a touch on the expensive side. But always busy, so that tells you something. Dogs *are welcome but only in very small bar area and not the seating area.
B. F.
The staff are just fabulous and the food is tasty . I would highly recommend a visit.
P. F.
Lovely cosy meal with a friend. Food lovely all locally sourced. Staff friendly. Place clean. Looking forward to going again. They have 2 car parks.
A. M. F.
Lovely pub and restaurant with great staff..our waitresses were wonderful!
I would say the food portions are on the small side ...each of my courses would definitely not be enough for my husband ...the cheese and onion pie is small and just comes with a few chips and rocket leaves .... but..the food is delicious!
S. B.
Beautiful food, friendly and helpful staff 👌
m. t.
Amazing Food, Quality Service at the Royal Oak. Had the Pork Assiette from the special board and wow what a dish. Photo is what's left of my plate. Says it all really.
P. W.
Great food and good atmosphere.
N. K.
Staff polite & friendly. Service quick and accurate. Pub and beer garden well presented and maintained. Nice atmosphere. Food was good. £5 for a pint of lager still on the steep end IMO but to be expected.
F. B.
As always the food here was exceptional. I have never visited and left with a bad word to say. The value for money is amazing. And the staff are lovely too!
J. A. E.
I had a great afternoon here, it was the first time I had been in a pub for a year as I was waiting for the 21st of June which came and went. So I downloaded the app and enjoyed it however the menu was different at the pub than it was online before I got there, I was looking forward to drinking some warsteiner but they had none so I had to drink something else which was still ok but if you’re doing it online you need to keep updating the menu as the menu stated that you had it on draught. Also making people wear masks just to go inside to the toilet or walking around to their seat is ridiculous. The overall experience was very good, great staff and service was spot on, this app ordering is the way ahead.
M. A.
Great food great choice and good prices.
J. O.
Lovely staff couldn't do enough for us . We had our dog with us the 2girls who was serving made a fuss of bolt . We both had fish and chips have to say it was the best we have ever had . Looking forward to our next visit 😊
D. F.
Pub manager was really welcoming, she was extremely helpful in seating 2 of us with twins and a double buggy in a booth near the log burner. Great decor and buzz about the place, staff were very busy but were quick to take our orders which soon arrived. Food was delicious, honestly restaurant quality, Mains were so good we decided on 3 deserts, again amazing!
Owners of the Royal oak should be super proud of the staff and chefs for making the visit so great.
Thanks again
J. M.
Very nice meal, fast service, friendly staff. Would highly recommend.
D. B.
Excellent service and really good food, in lovely surroundings. Couldn't ask for more, so would certainly recommend.
M. K.
An excellent place for dinner. Well worth going out of the way.
L. T.
Not been here for years until today, ghe food was lovely. Had the chicken burger and it was delicious - not chewy at all! The setting was lovely and the staff were very attentive - would definitely recommend!
M. M.
Really great food, lovely staff.
N. B.
Good solid pub food... well presented, attentive staff. All I all good experience, would go back.
M. H.
Quite a nice atmosphere for lunch. Good range of options on the menu. Not particularly thrilled with the burger main but have to say the individual take on an apple and summer fruit crumble was excellent. Real pity that a group of six ladies were seated very close when there was ample room elsewhere in the same room.
L. B.
The food is always amazing especially the big blue burger. The drinks are good and the staff are excellent!! Always serve with a smile and remember customers. We have taken our pup in regularly since we first picked him up (to help with training) and the staff always remember him. He gets so excited about going!!
L. S.
This is at least the 5th time we have been here for a meal. It's great to be able to book ahead, especially if it's a large party, ie 6-10 people).
The meals are always tasty and hot and a good variety too. As we now have two little grandchildren it's nice to know that they provide highchairs and also a children's menu too.
It's always been a family favourite as it's roughly halfway between where we all live. We have also been on some lovely walks in the area too.
Definitely be back again
P. C.
Very good place for food and staff very helpful.
T. A.
Charming little pub restaurant. Cozy atmosphere, a staff that obviously know to be attentive to their customers but not intrusive. Have visited a couple times and the food was consistently excellent. Well cooked, generously sized, recognisable every day kinds of dishes but with a "restaurant quality" that really satisfied.
P. M.
Good pub in the countryside. A tad dingy inside but some would say atmospheric. Perfectly fine.
M. W.
Good staff. Good service. Food not as expected. Said comes with veg.! ....bit of red cabbage under pie and half a carrot on top.!! Just not for me. But what there was was tasty.
A. C.
Me and my partner had a meal here in the afternoon. I had the steak pie and my partner had the cheese pie. The dish was very well presented and served with a lovely gravy. The staff were very polite and helpful I would highly recommend this place for a pub lunch.
M. F.
We booked for a large party of 14 and overall the experience was pleasant. Food was quite good, if a little pricey.
The staff were superb and catered for our every need. The only thing not to our liking was the Rack of Lamb which was very tough.
Good ale and nice atmosphere.
M. B.
Cosy, warm & welcoming - efficient, friendly staff! Drinks a bit on the expensive side. Would definitely recommend!!
L. S.
We were driving back from hospital and came upon this wonderful place. Oldie worldly with original stone building and roaring log burners...we were welcomed from the second we stepped through the door by attentive and friendly members of staff. The food was so fresh and tasty at reasonable prices. Dogs are also allowed but you must consider other customers who are dining who don't have dogs!! I love this place and can't wait to take my friends there! Thank you to all of you at the Royal Oak for making our first visit a fantastic experience.
D. C.
Cosy place open fires and a lovely atmosphere. My wife and I had a lovely meal. Both of us had sea bass for the main meal it was really nice and the skin was lovely and crisp mash was smooth and the mussel veloutie very tasty. Staff were good and the service was also very good all in all a very good new year afternoon meal. We had a good time.
J. M.
Great outdoor space. Had to download the app to order drinks but once navigated, it worked well. Drinks a little expensive, £5/pint but after a long walk we paid it! Staff friendly
M. D.
bank holiday Monday meal. Drink prices a bit on the expensive side as are some of the meals. Over all a bit disappointed, the reviews better than it actually is.I had the steak and ale pie and the pastry overworked and so rather hard and the steak shredded and tender but way too much seasoning. Perhaps if id had something else on the menu i might have been writing a better reviews.
P. W.
Great food. A nice pint of Cider too.
D. p.
We have been visiting the Royal Oak for several years, since the present owners took it over, and have never had a complaint. Food is always excellent. I deliver to the kitchens, so know how spotless they are. We are never rushed or hassled by the waiting staff, or badgered into buying extra drinks. All in all, it is our favourite go to for lunch or dinner.
A. F.
Just had an amazing lunch at the royal oak. Extremely good service, staff lovely and polite & attentive. Massive compliments to the chef as well. We will be back but not before spreading the word how good you all are. Thanks again....Amanda Fenn and family 😀
K. P.
Excellent food it really was .The service was impeccable. Thought the largers were a tad expensive but great place for a visit
s. b.
Lovely atmosphere. Felt fine we just passing trade . Food was exceptional. Lots of different beers to try . All in all defo recommend. Little more pricey than normal pub food but well worth it as so good
V. R.
this is one of the best pubs for food in the area, the service is timely and everyone is really polite without being overbearing. The food is absolutely gorgeous I've tried most of the menu and it's hard to decide what to eat. definitely our go to place.
D. H.
Went on a Saturday night after a not so successful trip to another local eatery. Service and food were both excellent...waitress was friendly, funny and helpful. An exceptional night out and we would recommend The Royal Oak to all! Good work all round!
b. g.
Stumbled across this pub/restaurant while driving around West Lancashire Moors. We were welcomed by friendly attentive staff, and a varied menu. Nice atmosphere in the dining area, and plenty of parking also a large beer garden, will be calling back in the future when in the area !!
J. F.
Excellent food and friendly staff, great place to have a meal and drink after a walk.
K. M.
Lovely food, excellent service, great setting - will be going back!
r.
Called in when passing on a Monday lunch time. Pub was pretty quiet. Decent ale, food was excellent but took a while to come out (about 30mins but well worth it, it was red hot) . Beer garden next to a fairly busy road , could benefit from a path/door to it from the rear of the pub so you don't have to walk with your drinks next to the road (but that's just me being picky)
I. C.
Lovely food, friendly staff and a great atmosphere. Even in Covid times. Close to the Leeds Liverpool canal, so lovely to walk to in order to take full advantage of the ales on offer.
A. P.
Probably best to book a table here, certainly at weekends, if you want a Sunday Roast be sure to get there in plenty of time, we went at fiveish on a Sunday and they had already run out! Food is really nice, your favourite pub food but a bit more upscale, they do a mean cheese and onion pie! Local beers on draft too, can't fault this place..
F. T.
Great food and service, nice atmosphere. Too many bar flies, makes it difficult for people who are dining to get to the bar on arrival. Removing the bar stools would reduce the number of flies.
A. O.
Friendly and accommodating food was spot on and not overly priced.
G.
A good gastro pub with a twist on traditional pub food and the specials board offers something a bit different. The quality of the cooking and food is excellent and is reasonable value for money. The team behind this pub used to run the Red Cat nearby which was in the Good Food guide so why isn't the Royal Oak? The staff were professional and friendly.
K. F.
Tried the takeaway Sunday Roast Beef Dinner today
absolutely delicious great tasting food, melt in the mouth beef. Awesome will definitely be back more.
B. G.
Great service, very reasonable
A. D.
As a family this is one of our favourite places to eat. The staff are always friendly, welcoming&polite.
The food is always tasty & flavoursome as well as hot& plentiful.
We would definitely recommend to family&friends.
H.
Amazing food and great service. The food really surprised me. 1000% recommend you go here!!
J. C.
Cosy, friendly, pub with excellent service. It
serves a decent range of quality, well presented food and has a good selection of draught beers. Been coming here for 13 years now and have never once been disappointed.
N. F.
Stopped here while on a bike ride. Very friendly staff with the option to order food using an app ,( didn't try this). We sat in the beer garden which was very pleasant.
S. W.
Probably the beat pub food I’ve ever tasted. Fantastic. Great service beer and fantastic food selection. You may pay a little more for nice food but this was faultless.
Well done Royal Oak
N. W.
Called in for a pint, great little find. They have Pravha on tap, so had one before we go to Prague. Great smooth fresh crisp pint, soon went down. Thought it rude not to have another, very nice place to call into. And it's not too far to get to, could even start calling in on the way back from shopping.
S. H.
A very good lunch. A Greek salad and the Steak & Kidney suet pudding. Both very good and reasonable pricing. Not that local but we shall return shortly.
S. W.
Great food and service, lovely pint of thwaites bitter.
A. T.
Food was very good but the online ordering was overcomplicated and impersonal, thought about having another round of drinks but couldn't do with the faff.
S. G.
Food choice excellent and innovative. Food outstanding. Most staff excellent. Unfortunately 2 younger waitresses were obviously not having a good day.
M. B.
I ordered fish pie and it came in a ramekin style dish which had obviously been prepared earlier then deep frozen. For the price I paid, I would have expected a freshly made pie with more accompaniments. I did not think it was worth the money.
J. P.
Very nice pub/ restaurant only a few people in when we arrived . Ordered our food main course only . see if we wanted a sweet ? Food was very good but staff did not know how the food was presented ( is it a pie or did it just have a pastry crust on top ) staff had no idea !!! Asked management and came back with the wrong information ( it was just a pie ). The restaurant was only half full or empty !!! But had no atmosphere! !! No music in back ground !!!! WOULD I COME BACK What do you think !!!!!🤔😞😦
N. R.
Nice village pub not too far from the M65 so pretty easy to get to. Great selection of Thwaites beers with friendly staff and decent food. Note that it's changed hands in the past few months and the quality of food seems to have gone up a notch.
G. G.
We haven't been for a while but the standard of food, wine and service was excellent. The recent refurbishment is tasteful.
The 16oz tbone was a real treat. We'll be back soon.
C. B.
Nice pub, average food, friendly staff. If you like basic traditional English pub food (gammon steak, burgers, fish and chips, prawns) you can do worse. Portions are reasonable and it's got the whole old pub vibe down to a 'T'.
A. C.
This pub/restaurant is an absolute gem. The food is second to none and the staff are always attentive and helpful. The food is always delicious and the portions just right. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone.
J. C.
Best beef and ale pie I've ever tasted.
K. W.
Lovely meal, very good staff but drinks were on the expensive side.
J. M.
Good food, good service, reasonable prices. Worth booking as it is very popular.
A. B.
An excellent country pub with a good restaurant area and comfortable nooks in the bar area. The bar is dog friendly and relaxed, and serves well kept Thwaites ales, including the excellent Nutty Black dark mild. There also appears to be a beer garden now, a welcome addition with good views over the countryside around Hoghton Tower.
M. J.
Wow, amazing food, and I mean really amazing. I can't recommend this place highly enough. Nice local atmosphere and provisions for toddlers all helped make it a very enjoyable experience. Great service too.
L. E.
Excellent food and service. They catered for my daughter's coeliacs disease and dairy problems with ease and good knowledge. They never once made her feel like a nuisance or a problem. Thank you so much.
L. B.
Went for a meal Monday at 6.15 Staff very welcoming and attentive Corvid measures and distancing well in place without it taking away the cosy atmosphere The food came quickly fresh and hot Couldn't fault anything We will def return
j. w.
Went on Sunday. Don't know if there was a problem in the kitchen but my choice was sold out. My second choice was overpriced and awful. Dry pie poor presentation. Ordered a sweet. It had also sold out. Paid £5+ for small pudding and yellow water (custard). One of the worst meals I have ever had
B. H.
Great Food, varied menu, good atmosphere, would Def recommend, compliments to the cheff!.Great helpful staff 5*****
T.
Good food friendly staff
S. W.
Lovely old Thwaites pub with plenty of countryside nearby for walking including Hoghton Tower. Inside still has a traditional feel with plenty of tables and seating.
Beers- Good range of Thwaites beers
Food- didn't eat but what went past looked good, although on Sunday afternoon there was an hour's wait
Facilities- Two car parks, a small one behind it and a larger one running along from the pub on the main road
A. D.
Really friendly staff, thanks Katie. Excellent service, cosy atmosphere.. Great choice of beer. Food is very good value. Would highly recommend a visit.
R. P.
After a long walk in the Lake District, three of us were greeted with smiles and a good menu. The food and the service was good. This is a place I'm sure we will be returning to.
N. P.
Excellent food & service. A tad expensive but having said that just about worth it. If you're on a budget don't go there but if going for a special occasion & you don't mind paying that little bit more then go.
A. S.
This has been my family pub for over 25 years from run of the mill Sunday lunch meals to family get togethers...(we over ran the bottom half of the pub)😁👍
Honest opinion...
There's no fruit machines and no jukeboxes... Just open coal fires a stone floor and solid tables... With superb staff..
Food wise...
your talking on average £14 for a main meal.... But you get what you pay for... They call them chips.. personally I call them potato wedges..😅😂..
If you want a traditional village pub feel and live near or around Blackburn..this place ticks all the boxes 👍👍
I
To this day I can still see my grown up children sat on the floor as babies 2 years old.... In the Family Pub 👍👍
A. T.
After a good walk, we had booked a table for 9 adults service was great, the meal was lovely all 9 adults enjoyed from fish, chips, peas ...steak puddings,chips,peas,gravy,.... Cheese onion pie, chips, veg, gravy then to finish cheese 🍰 and sticky toffee pud with custard food was excellent we will return drove from Leigh 😀
Z. E.
Expensive water, good organized service on entry, didn't get to try food, they had stopped serving (mid aft) not mentioned or advertised? Pricey drinks, usual for country pubs tho.
J. H.
Service very good, drinks good, chicken wings starter just average, cheese pie with chips very dry, no gravy or sauce then £8 for cheese board, slightly disappointed
K. W.
I had a lovely birthday meal today.Amazing food. Excellent service n a lovely surprise happy birthday dessert. Thank you all xx

We have eaten here twice and could not criticise anything. We came here after doing ample research around the local area and followed recommendations from tripadvisor. Ample vegetarian options and fantastic prices for the quality of the food. Really nice atmosphere and the service is impeccable. Could not recommend it highly enough!

I would have given it a higher rating but there are no vegan options on the menu at all, and all the veggie ones are full of cheese. A lovely pub though.
Q. T.
A lovely old authentic pub with great character and atmosphere. The staff are friendly, the food is excellent and the beer is well kept. I'll be back.
S. A.
Great food, beers and extremely friendly helpfull staff.
R. T.
Popped in a few times for a beer and a sandwich whilst walking.
Nice place, good beer, good food. I just think the crisps could be replaced with 3-4 potato wedges then it would be a 5.
U. H.
Pleasant staff, plus tasty and simple food.
Steak & kidney pudding is recommended.
Sticky toffee pudding too👌
s.
Lovely cottagy village pub. Warm and friendly. Good quality food and friendly service. Desserts wasn't quite as good however overall very good.

Went here for our works Xmas lunch. Food was beautifully presented and tasted wonderfu. Staff were great and has great choice of drinks.
T.
The food was good, nice sized portions only reason it's missing a star as the menu wasn't really to mine or any of my groups liking with the odd sides and concoctions
D. L.
Nice quiet local pub with traditional menu. Food menu is small, but everything is cooked perfectly! Also take American Express for any avid cash-backers! :)
N. B.
Looks like a traditional pub and it does offer traditional pub food but if you fancy something different, look at the specials; they are creative, delicious and beautifully cooked.
J. A.
