Highly recommended.. considering the situation were all in and the reputation of the pub, the new landlord has tried keeping the old Welly alive while adding his own twist and it works... I highly recommend a visit so you can see for yourself you won't be disappointed

Only recently under new management so the availability of ales was understandably limited for now. The great jukebox is thankfully still there though -hopefully it will be on our next visit, too.

Went in between 3-4pm yesterday, staff were brilliant. Food, drinks and service were all great, all social distancing measures were in place and the venue was clean

It was nice, but I didn't like their payment system. You can only order through a waiter and have to pay at a bar. It's a bit annoying when you have to keep fetching a waiter and walk to the bar and back every time you want a drink.

Great all round pub, food and a top owner! I accidently left my jacket after the England game. Andy Mac (owner) managed to locate it on the cctv camera inside, tracked who took it and with the help of Facebook got the guy who picked it up to transfer me the value of the jacket back as he lost it. (All of this within a day). Thanks again for your help, absolute legend.

After quite a while, I went in here tonight with my partner, we were greeted by a very friendly and welcoming door man, who explained that we needed to sign in, and explained the social distancing rules of the pub. We were served by very friendly staff who poured perfect pints. I would definatly recommend this pub for a quit drink or a group gathering! 5*

We had 5 dishes for £16 and the food was very tasty. It lacks a little finesse but with more clientele it can only improve.

Nice place for a good home cooked lunch, the lady behind the bar was really lovely and helpful. Only down sides were if was quite cold throughout and the toilets were not very clean! The lady did mention that they had just had a very busy weekend however!

I have lots of food intolerances, it makes eating out very difficult. The staff at the Wellie were amazing they brought the chef out to speak to me and they let me take a bit of one meal and pair it with something from another so that I could have something that was ok for me and enjoyable. Food was lovely, and the environment clean and comfy. Lovely historical pub with great staff and food.

Lovely ambience here. The tea and coffee were nice, and a good selection of ales to choose from. The beef curry was spot on with lovely pieces of meat. The fish and chips, lasagne and chilli went down well too. All helped by friendly amenable staff. I'm looking forward to coming back.

Not been in this pub for years, the decor is nice and has a decent range of drinks. Bit oldie worldie style pub which I like. It does food too, but we didn't eat.

This was our first visit to The Wellington Inn, as recommended by a friend. Whilst the food cannot be faulted,( it arrived as though freshly prepared and cooked. Good size portions nice and hot ) the decor and furnishings are very shabby, especially the worn, grubby looking seating. The prints / photos on the wall are charming and interesting to gaze upon as one waits for the ordered meal /s. By the way the wait wasn't too long at all for the food and was served very efficiently and politely. I guess if this place were to have a refurbishment, it would push the prices up and maybe even loose some of its quaintness and atmosphere, so maybe next time I'll concentrate solely on my lovely meal and not stop to think about the myriads of different bottoms that have sat where I'm sitting, and worn those seats into the greying, fading material that covers them in 2013. And the price do I hear you ask? it was excellent value!

Went at lunchtime for lunch with a friend. Served quickly with drinks. Sat at a table which needed wiping down which was quickly done without us needing to ask. Food was what you expect for the price paid. Arrrived about 10mins after ordering nicely presented and nice and hot. Definately will return. Only 2 downpoints - slightly expensive for drinks and the toilets aren't brilliant (although I spend as little time in toilets as possible!!!! ;) ) Definately better for food than any other pub at that end of town.

This is a backstreet pub with regulars, if they are not busy the bar staff are friendly and join in with the conversation. If you like spirits this is a really cheap place to start the night.
