D. G.Gets very loud, no social distancing, seated near door and cold draft kept coming through. Food is average, good salmon portion with Thai curry.
K. M.I took my mum here on mothers day for afternoon tea and it was absolutely stunning!! The food layout was incredible and tasted heavenly! Very friendly and helpful staff all greeting us with smiles and positivity. Then came for breakfast, Would highly recommend the American style pancakes it was delicious. Again, very friendly staff. Overall I would recommend S&L to anyone who asked about it, am definitely coming back again!!!

On a Saturday Night at 9pm we know we had taken a chance as we had not booked but the door team did their best to help us get a seat.
We met the manager and he was able to get us sat down.
The Door staff were very friendly very helpful and had a good joke with us as we waited. I do have to say you do have very smartly dressed doorman, I have not seen a doorman in a waistcoat before so nice touch.
The Manager who sat us down was very friendly and very helpful he made us feel very welcome.
The atmosphere was brilliant the drinks were however a little bit slow to come but seeing how busy you were that's understandable.
The female staff member was very apologetic about the delay.
As we had not booked we can not complain.
We would come again tho i think we might book next time.
Thank you to the door team, the manager and all the staff who got us a table and made our experience a brilliant night.
We will see you again soon :).

Ada was extremely helpful the following morning when we returned for breakfast..
Breakfast was very good poached eggs were perfectly cooked.
Clean and covid friendly all round.
Doormen (both of them) need a mention as they were very helpful albeit not very knowledgeable about what chicken shops were open in the early hours still very funny.

H. n.Food very basic, part of our order missed off, waited half an hour for them to bring it out but never arrived. In the end as meal all finished we drank up and left. Too busy to give great customer experience. When we said we were leaving and didn’t receive the missing items the staff just said oh sorry about that, couldn’t of cared less!

s.Honestly one of the better slug and lettuce I've been to (apart from Oxford), amazing cocktails, amazing service. Emma was amazing‼‼I asked her to go to sainsbury's to buy me fruit and she ran faster than a cheater, faster than Usain Bolt, faster than a bullet. She got me my fruit, no hesitation❗❗❗❗❗❗❗❗ honest to god, I will come here again. Love this place:))

R. E.What has happened to the Slug and Lettuce on Oracle Riverside? It used to be a great place to meet up with friends for a nice meal and drinks. You could sit in comfort and enjoy conversation with each other. This is no longer the case If yesterday's visit is anything to go by. We had booked a table for the allotted time and we were greeted at the door by a guy who was very friendly and efficient. He guided us to our table. It was during this walk to our table that I realised it was a mistake coming here. The structure of the restaurant has been changed for the worse!! The design is badly flawed as there is no escaping the constant noise from everything going on around you. It was very difficult to have a conversation as you only hear the conversational sound from other tables and from the people stood at the bar. This was accompanied by the dull thudding background from the sound system playing something quite discernible and to be honest bloody annoying. And now to the seating. What is it with the idea that everyone is tall. One of our friends couldn't put her feet on the floor when seated on one of the bench seats. If we had been seated on one of the other tables that had stools instead of a bench seat then she would have needed assistance simply to be able to get onto the stool!! The food ordered was OK, but certainty nothing special. (Some of the hot food was barely warm). The drinks were absolutely fine. The one really positive thing that I would say is that all of the staff were very hard working and friendly. They were rushing about all the time. The bar staff never stopped. One member of the staff that I would single out for praise was a young chap who was charged with delivering foid and drinks to the tables, who I alsp witnessed sweeping up broken glass and mopping the floor to ensure that it was safe for the customers. On the whole though I was saddened by the entire experience as I know that the original Slug and Lettuce used to be SO GOOD. Come on Slug and Lettuce you can do so much better than this.
O. H.What a cocktail experience I loved having cocktails on my friend's 30 birthday. Feeling so lucky to celebrate a 30th birthday party add such a wonderful place in reading.
C. R.The aesthetic are gorgeous, chic and great for pictures. The food was good and 50% off when we went which was a bargain as I got a starter, main and dessert for just under £12. Not too busy so we were able to hold conversation. I would recommend. The only downside was the limited menu but that's due to covid so it's understandable and possibly the lack of sauce with sides like chips for example.

C. K.Becoming a favorite for cocktails due to 2-4-1 offer. Need to book. Shame the offer is only two of the same cocktail, and a little annoying you have to pre-book a cocktail tree. As ever, can take some time to get your order due to those pests that keep ordering cocktails. Worth ordering from an app, as they won't deliver to table if you order at the bar.

S. D.Nice decor and location and the food was ok but the overall experience wasn't all that brilliant. A group of us had a table booked for lunch. We used the app as advised by the person who greeted us and were ordering from the menu, not the bottomless brunch; unaware there was any time constraint on us we didn't order the minute we sat down, but ordered some drinks and took a little time looking at the menu then all ordered at the same time. One meal arrived, then two more but no cutlery. Food was going cold waiting for it. Eventually we got the attention of someone who brought cutlery. Meals gradually appeared, most of them anyway. One still hadn't arrived even when it had been chased. At the second attempt the waitress said they had no record of it, until she was shown the order confirmation. Finally it arrived, by then the cutlery had run out again. At about this time another bottle of prosecco and a plate of chips were ordered (by someone who had already finished his meal). The meal that arrived late was still being eaten and the wine had barely been started when we were told we had 15 minutes and would have to leave. No one had said we were on a clock, we managed to argue the point and they rather ungraciously let us stay a short while longer. The 'vegetarian' meal of battered halloumi would have been nice but tasted very fishy, deeply suspicious it was cooked in the same oil as the fish. Some people would have sent this back, if we hadn't already waited a long time it probably would have been.
Recommendations for this establishment, if you're about to kick people out, don't deliver more drinks without checking with them that they are aware they aren't there for a relaxed meal and drinks and are going to end up drinking outside in the rain, don't advertise food as (v) if it's not, have enough staff on duty, and even if people are ordering with the app, still check that everything has arrived.

The food was really good, the service very helpful and cheerful. We did have a bit of a problem with some cocktails however after talking to the waitress that was promptly fixed.
I have enjoyed my time there and would highly recommend it.

K. H.The first time we visited was absolutely perfect. The food was incredible, service was excellent. The second time, however, it felt like two members of staff had been left to run the whole place by themselves. One poor girl was running around from the bar to the floor constantly. Beyond that, our food was put on hold for 30 minutes with no explanation, and then when it came, the order was wrong.
By no means is this a complaint about the staff working there, but it simply felt like there was too much to do with too few staff and so mistakes were inevitably made.

Slug & Lettuce have always had a brilliantly diverse menu that caters for all needs. In addition to this all of the food is cooked to a high standard and never fails to disappoint. On my last visit I tried the Moving Mountains burger and it was delicious, I'd highly recommend it!
Food aside; the cocktails are also a good choice here and the staff have always been welcoming and polite.
The only thing that was missing was a tip jar!

We had two 1 year olds with us and hence we were unsure if we would be allowed in for the class. But they arranged a separate table along with couple of high chairs and helped us out. Callum aka Bambi who conducted the masterclass was really friendly, funny and made the whole experience even better. We were well looked after would definitely Slug & Lettuce for their cocktail masterclass. They also had 2 for 1 cocktails and some of the cocktails were absolutely yum!

I stopped here yesterday as I noticed 50% discount on all food. I ordered the avocado and halloumi sub which was tasteless. The bread was stale and dry, no butter or mayo. The rubbery cheese had barely been cooked, no seasoning, tiny slices of avo and old wilted salad. Sweet potato fries were the saving grace. Overall very poor. Grateful it was half price!!
