Had an incredible roast dinner at The George! We had a slight issue with our drinks but it was resolved straight away by the kind and attentive staff. Compliments to the chef, everything on our plates was incredible... particularly the roasties and Yorkshire puds! The meat is divine and the waitress informed us from a local seller too! 100% recommend a trip here, great in summer for outdoors and great in winter for that cozy rustic vibe! Staff great, food great, drinks awesome and good vibes too.

The staff were polite and friendly. The service was good. The food was hot and tasty and served to the table within a reasonable time. Most diners were sitting outside in the sunshine, but in the restaurant section it was cool, well ventilated and light. I have had previous bad experiences in this pub with poor service and food that really wasn't up to scratch. However I must say that things have improved and they seem to have got their act together. Well done, I shall be back. Keep up the good work and hopefully it will be 5 stars next time.

Great local pub, good food and good selection of drinks for a decent price. My only criticism is that it could do with a refurb/modern layout and furniture. Otherwise great place to meet up with friends or family as it’s not generally too busy, the staff are inviting and the customers tend not to be too loud as there is usually no sports on to watch here.

Decent beer and the food was ok. My friend ordered a portion of chips which was very small and cost nearly £3.5 pretty expensive for 2hat was served. I had a chick and ham pie which was lovely and served with plenty of gravy.

Been there a few times now, nice pub! Good selection of beers on offer and the food is very good. Great to sit in the garden next to the river Loddon while sipping on your favourite tipple. Would highly recommend.

Been twice at lunch time not been very busy but food was served cold, fish in batter didn't have any fish in it chips were cold again. I had the burger which was lovely but had last nite chips which we cold and not eatable. Manager very apologetic served more chips and changed the fish, which came put lovely, don't understand why they couldn't do that the frist time. Sadly won't be going back to eat. Didn't offer a refund

The only staff member working (the rest were just sitting chatting) looked at us angrily when we asked for cutlery so we could eat the food and didn't take it to kindly when we sent back a tea cup because it still had tea stains it and reluctantly gave us a clean one. The food was very nice though, will probably go again just for the food

I have never had such a friendly,welcoming visit to an eating venue. The minute we walked in we were greeted and made to feel special. Summer brought coffees to our table and took our order. Beeaauutiful food served to us by Hazel- also incredibly polite and helpful. We will definitely be back to this spotlessly clean,well run establishment. Thankyou to both summer and Hazel- you made me and my 84 year old mother's Monday afternoon treat better than we could ever have hoped for xx

A lovely place to go for a meal or a quiet drink beside the Loddon. It has a lovely outside space and very pleasant spaciouse inside. It can get busy as it's a popular place but generally it's well worth a visit.

Despite many 5 star visits, this one was disappointing to say the least. I had to give up on my mixed grill. I couldn't work out which meats had been turned into lumps of leather. To give the George their due, I was given a full refund for that. Not their usual standard but I'd still go back again

We didn't eat here, but had a coffee on our way elsewhere, but I will be returning as it looks like a great menu. The place itself is really cosy and super clean. The staff are lovely. And who doesn't love the luxury of hand wash and hand cream in the bathroom! UPDATE: we've had two meals here and they were stunning. Credit to the chef - seriously. I was amazed at just how beautifully presented the food was and how tasty. This is another place that deserves more than 5 stars. ⭐

Good place for a drink prior to the Cinema. Staff are cheerful and drinks are reasonably priced. Always best to park in Cinema Car Park and walk to pub, it's only a couple of minutes.

This place has just had a cracking refurb, much better than it used to be. Menu choice is good, and the food really was excellent. Rather surprised as last time I was here (albeit a few years ago now) the food was pretty basic. Good work. The bar staff were all friendly too.... would recommend to others and go back again too.

Could do better! A nice enough pub. Good prices for lunch items. I had a burger and asked to swap the fries for fat chips, which wasn't a problem. The burger looked a bit sad in its bun with only a few bits of soggy lettuce for company but the BBQ sauce on the side helped and it was tasty. The cheese burger was also a sad sight but alright for less than £6.50. My order came with the skinny fries. When I queried it the harassed-looking waiter brought me a side of fat chips so I had 2 portions, so that was good (but I didn't eat both!).

We had our Company's Xmas dinner there. It's a nice place and the staff is polite and efficient. It is a bit difficult to park there. The car park is rather small and there is no street parking possible. But there is a large cinema next door with a large car park. I had a nice winter veg soup to start with, followed by duck. Duck should be served crispy on the outside but still pink inside. Unfortunately my duck was overcooked and dry and the skin was not crispy enough to be edible. It to had to be removed. The plate also looked quite empty. I was expecting a side serving of green veg but there was only a tiny bit of kale and two small potatoes. We were there on a Monday which was Quizz night. Although we were nowhere near the room where the quizz was taking place, there were speakers in all the rooms blaring the questions out so it was difficult to have a conversation with my colleagues.

On my last visit there were many issues with the Kitchen, Staff and Slow service. This however was equalled by the manager on shift that night, who was amazing. She could not have done more to resolve the issues and she was most definitely the saving grace of this review. The food although delayed was excellent as usual. Considering that it's located on a pretty busy road, this place has a good sized garden and deck area that overlooks the river. It's got a nice feel inside, and there appear to be many vegan options. We will return to check them out

Came along to the George for a couple of drinks and love the relaxed and friendly staff. Feels like a little bit of countryside. You soon forget the busy road as you soak up the peaceful riverside atmosphere. We ordered once at the bar and once via the app. Both times Ben prepared and delivered our drinks. He is new to the George I think but so confident and knowledgeable about the menu. Please pass on our thanks for a lovely afternoon by the river.

This is my local after-work drink place, so I've been many times. The staff are always really friendly, and for drinks, never any issues. But the food service experience isn't amazing. There are regularly things out of stock, which you only get told about once you've ordered. A colleague who can't have alcohol in their food was made to feel quite "othered" whilst the server went back and forward 5 times to the kitchen to work out if the scallops came supplied in white wine, or were cooked fresh - it was the former. We've waited more than 45 minutes for food to arrive, on more than one occasion. What arrives is then normally lovely (apart from the gravy for pies is always freezing cold and gets sent back). We will definitely keep going, partly as they've got a captive audience for offices around there and the staff are fun and friendly. But it'd be great if food service could be better.

Awesome Pub. Had brunch there for my five year wedding anniversary. Staff were very welcoming and extremely friendly. The food was lovely and pricing was reasonable. I would definately recommend.

Food was okay but the drinks were a joke. An Aperol spritz (7£) is described as 'Aperol, Prosecco and a splash of soda' but was mostly soda. These chains already have massive profit margins but continue to fleece the clients they claim to care about.

Lovely pub with a good selection of beers, right next to a river which is nice. Friendly staff. It's located right next to an overpass where some incredible artists have done graffiti at a level that I've never seen before. Definitely worth checking that out while you're at this pub.

Such a lovely place to spend the evening. The food is always really great and the staff are fantastic. They were understaffed on the day we went but they were so happy and smiley still, even though you could see they were working extra hard. The actual dining area has a lovely atmosphere, it's very clean and organised and just feels nice to be in. Going back again in a couple of days, can't wait!

Not a great experience food took a long time to arrive which for a Sunday Roast is a bit strange I think they forgot about us we had to ask the General Manager who couldn't bring herself to apologise! The food when it arrived was decent for the price. Staff were OK but did ask if we wanted more drinks maybe 5 times when we clearly hadn't finished our first round! Not terrible but there are better places!

Booked a meal to celebrate a birthday. The starters came out at a good speed and we're really tasty, the issues began after that. Waiting for over an hour after the starters for the mains wasn't great, but what annoyed us was people turning up after us, getting served full meals before us. When we questioned a waiter, the food got brought out pretty quick. Normally, that wouldn't have bothered us. However, after we ate the mains, we ordered desert. Again, after another 45 mins to an hour of waiting, we gave up and asked for the bill. Whilst the manager came over after our second complaint (and admittedly wrote off said meal!) it just seemed to me that the establishment cared more about a one off Christmas party, rather than people who visit more than once a year and actually care about the local business. That said, the food was good, drinks aren't the cheapest (but quality is good so it equals out), and if it wasn't for the Christmas parties I/we would happily return. Just going to avoid it when it's xmas party time in the future, and would advise anyone seeking a good meal to do the same to be honest, as you may be forgotten about - twice - like we was.

We called in after being denied food at another pub on a Sunday as a walk in. After initially saying that they weren't serving anymore, we must have looked so disappointed because after sitting down with a drink, our young barman came over with menus and said his manager had said we could eat after all. The food was amazing!! We had the speciality slow roast rib of beef and the vegetarian Wellington and they were superb. Lots of perfectly cooked roasties and other veg, enormous Yorkshire pud and stuffing. A big thank you to the lovely barman and his manager for feeding us. We'll definitely be back whereas the other pub won't get a look in now!!

Spacious garden around the pub with view at the river. However, the food is below average. Last time I had the Hunter's chicken. Chicken was very dry, slightly burned and bacon quite chewy. Portions are good though for the price paid.

Very busy & short staffed due to the pingdemic but they still fed us. Got a bit tetchy about gluten free requirements but it was all fine. Great food. They gave us sticky toffee pudding with custard that wasn't on the menu so I was very happy.

Visited with friends who took me out for dinner, didn't have a lot of veggie options but opted for the beer battered halloumi, mushy peas and triple cooked chips, which was very filling (halloumi portion was very generous), delicious and cooked to perfection. Nice atmosphere and lots of room, so didn't feel too nervous being indoors. Space from neighbouring tables was more than adequate. A really enjoyable meal, thank you!

It's a little pricey but the food quality is good ( although the vegan in the party found the vegan burger rather bland). They have done the best they can with the outside space and if you are seated round the river side it's very pleasant. The staff are friendly and efficient. If you do eat there it's worth popping to the nearby bridge. There is a path from the pub carpark and the graffiti there is amazing. Watch your step though!

Lovely lunch date with a friend today. Lots of outdoor seating, all spaced out at a good distance, parasols provided. A shame that there weren't any heaters of any kind, as was slightly chilly, but of course can't be helped. Friendly staff, very chatty and bubbly, not too in your face though.. Hand sanitizer was provided, track and trace code provided. Easy enough signs to show exit. Plenty of car parking spaces.

I have always been a fan of the George so it was nice to get back for dinner on Friday 19th June. The service from all was excellent (one gentleman, in particular - I forget his name) and despite the need to provide a table service to all, there was still time to regularly check on us; whether checking our enjoyment of the food (which was also very good), replenishing drinks etc. The environment is a warm and cosy one but there’s ample outdoor seating too.

Took my auntie and uncle here as they were visiting and we could not fault the service or food. Our server Tanith was attentive, friendly and professional - really made us feel welcome and gave personal insight to certain dishes (the brownie = yum!!). Been here many times in the past for drinks with friends but Tanith really did improve my already positive experience. She is a real asset to the pub - will definitely be bringing more family here in the future!

Rang on the off chance to see if they had any last minute spaces for 4 adults 2 children after reopening the day before. Wasn't expecting them to have anything but spoke to very accommodating manager who said that they had some spaces and would get a table ready for us & to head down. When we arrived we were greated by a very friendly manager who explained how things were being done in terms of covid protection. He also took time to greet the children and share a joke with us ! Made us feel really welcome and safe. We were seated in the lovely under cover area next to the river with the added bonus of a heater :) the children were given crayons & a colouring sheet which they really liked ! and we were allocated a waiter called Nathan who was very friendly and patient and attended our every need with a smile. Our drinks and food arrived quickly each time and the food was delicious. Good food, good service and great location , We throughly enjoyed our visit and will definitely be returning again soon. Thank you everyone for making our visit & first time eating out since last year such a great one !

Lovely pub, huge menu! Ordered tikka masala which was really nice but my other half had the fillet steak which was not up to standard. Just want to mention the waitress who handled the situation in a very friendly and professional manner. Wish I'd taken her name, she's an asset to the restaurant. Fabulous pies at lunchtime on a Wednesday with nicely cooked vegetables and yummy mash potato. The older members of the family with small appetites were able to have one meal divided between them. Friendly helpful staff and Wednesday being pie day (special offers on pies) extremely good value for money. Highly recommended.

Outstanding new menu and great service as always. I brought my visiting American mother-in-law here because it is Mother's Day in the US. The food was extremely good, which makes two visits in a row that the food was of such a high standard. Excellent experience. Took my mum and dad there. My dad struggles to walk and has to use a Zimmer. The staff were very friendly and helpful, opening a door for him to avoid steps, and giving us an easy accessible table. Drinks were ordered and came quickly. Good selection of food on the menu. Food took a reasonable amount of time considering there were a lot of orders just in front of us. When it came it was hot and well prepared. Very tasty, and just the right amount (was full up, but not overly stuffed!). Again the staff were friendly and helpful throughout the meal and afterwards. All together great meal and relaxing afternoon.

My partner has had the steak 3 times and it always comes out perfect (and rare) 😍 the chefs signature hunters chicken is to die for and worth the upgrade from the regular one. Love that it's served in a little skillet. The service is always good, and the chefs are obviously good at what they do. Couldn't fault it, and I hope the staff are appreciated for what they do to because this place is a little gem.

Part of the Chef & Brewer chain, The George at Loddon is a clean and pleasant place to eat with ample outside riverside seating and many tables inside too. The service can be slow but is friendly with some chatty staff. On out visit, patience was required, especially for drinks at the bar. The bar that night was also, alas, not the bar for the Ale drinkers of our party for on our Friday evening visit, of the four draft ales they had, only two were available, and one of those was undrinkable, leaving just the IPA. At least there was some (expensive) Brewdog in the fridge! The staff did say there was a delivery expected the next day. Hmm. I shoudl think a good pub would make sure a reasonable selection of well-kept Ales is on tap on a Friday as well as a Saturday night, otherwise, what's the point?

Usually busy in the evenings, so book a table in advance if you plan on eating. It costs a little more than elsewhere. Good selection of ales. Over 6 month visits: - first visit food order in correct but nice atmosphere, - second visit food order for 4 totally wrong and 2 feeling sick, 1 physically. - latest visit family of 4 the building was virtually empty staff stated a slow day 1 hour wait for 3 starters (1 not edible children's veg dippers which had cold cooked linm purple brockly, soup cold) after 15 mins chased for the 4th starter. Mains took 1hour more to arrive 2 out of 4 wrong orders the other 2 had majority of items missing. When challenged manager just said that we can have a replacement for one of the meals but will have to wait a substantial amount of time for it to be cooked (it was a steak medium rare).. No condiments (although shop is opposite. No discount on the bill or hint towards it. 3 out of 4 of us suffered from food poisoning, (confirmed medically) Eat here at your own risk, I will never eat here again!

It's my second time to visit this Gastro pub. I liked cozy atomosphere inside. The service was not too bad. Next time I'm thinking to have lunch with my friend.

The George is right next to the River Loddon, and IT IS BRILLIANT! Excellent service, food and location. Screw getting a sausage roll from the garage across the road, THE GEORGE IS AMAZING!
