Good traditional pub, mix of craft and cask ales on tap along with lagers, ciders, Guinness, etc. Didn't try the food, but the menu looks good and not too expensive. Big screens for the football, friendly staff and clean toilets. Great spot.

Dropped in to catch the end of the cricket on a Tuesday evening. Pub was clean and tidy, practically empty. Comfortable seating and a few large flat screens. Service at the bar was quick.

Lovely food, great staff, and a brilliant Guinness. Late night visit as lad was in hospital. They served a lovely hot pizza at 21.30, and put on a fresh barrel of Guinness. Recommended.

Really enjoyed a visit yesterday. Very friendly and welcoming. The Exmoor Gold was excellent. Much larger inside than you might expect with comfortable seating. A short menu but very reasonably priced. We had hot and tasty bowls of soup.

I got a very warm welcome upon my recent visit. It was a while since I had been, but the recent change in proprietor has been good. There are now well-kept ales which they are passionate about keeping well, and the place is very clean. I'll be glad to come back.

Great little local pub. Haven't been in since we're allowed inside, but was always a good place to go for a few drinks after work. Although, their waitress Maya, is definitely the star of the show! (she's also the reason for the 4th star, otherwise I would put 3) She never fails to deliver, even when she's working alone on a Friday night. She always makes you feel welcome and does her absolute best for everyone. She deserves so much recognition for the effort she puts in every single day.

This place is just right, Sunday morning when the sun strikes through the front terrace, lunch or Saturday night it’s just right with any occasion. Has a smoking area in the back such a conservatory and it’s not far off town centre.

A very cosy spot right on one of the busiest road of Reading, specially if you manage to sit in the back garden which give on a very quite street. At the moment the kitchen is under refurbishment but the cheerful and friendly pub-tender makes up for this temporary drawback. Definitely pop in here if you're looking for a chilled drinking spot. Had a pretty good experience here, a quiet pint or two at the bar while waiting to meet friends. There's a few ales on tap, though a lot of the drink selection seemed geared to shots and whatnot, so I'm assuming it gets a bit messier on nights and weekends. Staff and regulars were quietly friendly.

The pub is nice and friendly staff are polite my only concern about this is my boyfriend and his mate James went drinking there last weekend and someone was being very violent and trying to start on every customer there was so my boyfriend decided to ring police as ally the manager wasn’t doing anything to be honest he didn’t do anything wrong by phone police my boyfriend then left the pub and then ally said to my boyfriend mate James that he barred then a couple days later my mate tried reentering the pub and they said he barred Bcos he hangs around with my boyfriend

We went to the Turks to see a band but unfortunately, two of them were ill. The lead singer used his initiative and came on his own and did a solo set. What a voice this young man had.. Absolutely amazing. We shall certainly look out for the Funk Soul Rebels.

I’ve been spending many weekends in Reading for the past 5 years while my wife studied for her Doctorate at the university across the road. Being from Leicester, I enjoyed their Premiership winning season on many weekends with the Spurs fans, although rivals for the title, they were fantastic, the day when the Foxes received the trophy, the Turks was full of Spurs fans who were good humoured and generous. The Turks is a traditional pub, a calm and lovely atmosphere in winter as well as summer. Sadly, tomorrow, March 13, 2020, my wife performs her Viva Voce at the University when she hopes to become Doctor Beth, it marks my last day in the Turks. It’ll be sadly missed.

We visited off-peak on a Sunday afternoon when it was fairly empty. It still had a reasonable atmosphere with some character and the beer was ok but if we were not already parked close by it would not have been considered.
