Went here on a Saturday afternoon, but the vegetarian friendly options left a lot to be desired. I thought I'd try the cauliflower bites and dirty fries which had Stilton cheese. Well, they arrived and I found that they had skimped on the Stilton, only to douse the chips heavily in buffalo sauce. Add more cheese, please! The cauliflower was doughy and it had clearly been sat soaking in sauce for a while, not a enjoyable experience ... In all honesty.

Things we really like about the Fleming Arms :- 1. Location and character : An attractive heritage building with a spacious, welcoming interior and comfortable seating... 2. Ample parking at rear and an outside seating area next to the little Monks Brook stream.. Very picturesque if you choose to sit outside! ... 3. Service: Quick and efficient service from very friendly and helpful staff... 4. Quality: Truly delicious food prepared by fantastic chef Curtis... Thank you Chef, we send you our best compliments.... 5. Amazing prices : the best value for money we have found yet.... 6. Its just down the road from where we live! Typical chain pub restaurant, don't expect a locals pub with character but typical Greene King fayre, food is OK, ale has been poor on more than one occasion now. Was drinking Speckled Hen and it was cloudy and although tasted OK was off putting, previous visit had same issue. Head to The Crown a mile or so away for a better experience. The plus points were staff friendly and efficient and toilets clean.

Amazing service from all the staff. Excellent food and a wide variety of drinks both alcoholic and non alcoholic. They have a different offer everyday ranging from Steak Mondays, to getting a free starter or dessert from certain meals. I think this is an amazing idea and look forward to trying out each day as I will definitely be returning in the near future. Thank you for an amazing experience

We've been to the Fleming Arms several times recently, and we've been so impressed each time that we really wanted to express our thanks and gratitude, especially to our waitress Shannon. Its a nice place for grub and beer, customer service is almost spot on. The cleanliness of the tables could do with some improvement and some attentiveness to clearing the tables as well. But in general it's everything you would expect from a hungry horse and more. I pop in quite a bit and work from here.

Excellent food and wonderful staff. So friendly and prompt delivery of food. Two full blown meals and drinks for £31.00 can't knock that. However the building itself requires a major refit as it is very tired & does smell a bit. So come on the owners put a program together to upgrade a bit. I will be back again to check out the progress.

Came in on Thursday lunch time, it was free starter day which the staff explained very well, so I had garlic mushrooms with my steak sizzler, all came out hot and well presented. Staff were pleasant even though it was busy. Will return very soon

I have been to a few Hungry Horse restaurants and only stopped at this one by chance. Best decision made, absolutely gorgeous food, very polite, professional and courteous service. If only I lived closer ☺️

Always a Good experience here but the service really shines when things do go wrong. Had some difficulty with the app so had to order at the bar and unfortunately my order was messed up by a member of staff in training, thankfully experienced staff such as Cary-Ann managed to get the right order out to me in a flash so that I wasn’t sat there waiting while my partner ate. Food is always good and affordable. Never been a fan of Greene King not filling a pint of soft drink up fully if you don’t ask for ice but that seems to be the case wherever you go. Nice venue, good food, good prices, helpful staff and parking at the back. No complaints.

During my visit at the aforementioned.. I was made to tolerate my ex and her family during our sons 3rd birthday. I was somewhat confused when Chloe, the server, blonde, short, lovely smile, brought out the cake with the 3 facing her instead of our son.. however, we were informed that Chloe had successfully defeated one of the dementors from harry Potter and also walked over hot coals on her hands, balancing the cake on her feet. With dedication like that I could let the reversed 3 slide. Also, is Chloe single?

Only used once.(not in our area) two main courses for £9.99 is excellent value. My wife had a mixed salad with strips of rump steak on top that was cooked perfectly. Unfortunately I had fish and chips, the chips and mushy peas were fine but the fish, although a good size was undercooked and sloppy, really very un appetising, should really have complained but you just don't know what they do to your food if you do. Good value if food is cooked properly.

Took my family here yesterday for our first time on first view the pub it's self is clean and inviting the staff are very friendly Sadly on the ordering of the drinks my daughter wanted a Dr pepper from there drink machine witch taste of water when speaking to the bar staff they said the machine is fine but would not taste it them self so end up ordering a cola instead Ordered our food when it arrived was very disappointed our starters onion rings were uncooked the batter was soft not crispy the garlic bread was soft did not have the crispy bottom The staff said they did not have the source for the burger I ordered so ended up with no source in the burger at all witch left it very dry The chicken Newyork had a smoke taste to there chicken so my daughter could not eat it was rubbery and dry The hole meal was basic and not a lot of effort put into the cooking the pudding we ordered for the kids wasment to be a large Sunday to share it come in a bowl with soup spoons we got the feeling the pub resource are low Football was on so u had people shouting and swearing I felt uncomfortable for my children If ur looking for a cheap cheerfully friendly pub this is the place to go however we would not go back our self the food was a massive let down for us

Having to order via the Greene King app was painful on one previous visit, though mostly because I hadn't downloaded the app beforehand. Now that Covid restrictions have been lifted, the Fleming Arms is essentially back to normal and a nice place to go for a meal.

As frequent visitors we are usually really impressed with the service, food and particularly the value for money. However, on our most recent visit for our sons birthday the food was below its usual standard coupled with a few service issues. So why a 5* review? Andreas dealt with our issues beautifully without making us feeling as though we were being picky. The food was replaced without hesitation and the sweetener of a free pud 😋 in order to go the extra mile was very much the service we have come to expect and no doubt we’ll be back again very soon!

Very rare I give out 5 stars, this place has history of ill mannered staff and mediocre food quality. Today's visit was the first for a while the staff were ALL very helpful they were working as a team and what was really refreshing to see was a member of the kitchen team walked through FOH and spotted guests waiting so he stopped what he was doing walked over and welcomed them in and showed them to their table. Kerry Anne was our main server this evening and greeted us with a big smile and couldn't do enough to help us. The tables, floor and seats were clean when we arrived as were the toilets and the bar. The food was great tasted as it should looked great and clearly prepared by people who care. Unfortunately I no longer carry cash with me so I was disappointed that I couldn't leave a tip as we ordered through the app. Refreshing to visit a pub on a Friday evening and see the staff all happy and not look under pressure. The whole team were in sync and demonstrating an outstanding display of team work and professionalism. Thank you team for a lovely evening we will be back soon and we will bring cash too.

Went in on the offchance to have a quick bite with our son & wife. It was about 1pm. I like real ale & there were two options but both run out so I had to have a bottle of beer. We ordered the meals & as they had an offer on Saturday's they worked out very cheap. However the quality of food was a bit poor. My wife had chicken kebabs and they were not very hot & tasted a bit artificial. O had the mixed grill. There was lots of food bit the steak was a bit tough, the chicken again seemed a bit artificial, the so called gammon was very thin, the fried egg was over cooked, the sausages looked underdone although they were cooked but they were a bit tasteless. However the chips weren't too bad. Apart from that it was good value but I think I would rather pay a little more for a bit better quality food.

Visited sat 29th Jan. Pub was busy, staffing short, and our booked table had been given away by mistake, but another was cleared upstairs within 10 minutes. We ordered at the bar, staff brought drinks up on a tray anyway. Food was good as usual and our waitress Cary-Ann was up and down the stairs like a yo yo with the plates; still polite and courteous and a credit to the team. See you again soon.

Popped in to The Fleming Arms in Southampton for lunch. Lovely friendly greeting from Laura who seated us at a table. Laura explained that we can either order at the bar or via the app. My partner had Beef & Ale pie with chips, peas and gravy, which he really enjoyed, must say the pie looked delicious and the food was presented well on the plate. I had the battered fish with chips and peas. The fish was crispy on the outside, soft and succulent on the inside. The chips were crispy on the outside with a lovely soft fluffy potato on the inside. I also had peas. Tartare sauce too which came in a separate bowl. Both meals were served lovely and hot . Throughout our visit Laura ensured we had everything we needed. All the staff were friendly and it was obvious that they worked very well as a team. From the moment we entered there was a warm friendly atmosphere and Covid safe feeling, which is wonderful especially during these challenging times. We felt comfortable, safe and looked after throughout our visit. Laura is an excellent ambassador for The Fleming Arms and Hungry Horse, and the team too showed exactly how to look after the customers and work as a team. Thank you Laura, we will definitely be back……and I’ll have dessert too next time😊

One thing that has always let this place down was the staff, but staff today were so nice and friendly, couldn't do enough for us. Food was lovely. Was a chilled out nice meal! Really enjoyed out visit.

All the food here is really lovely and the processing of orders was very efficient. However, as I was eating I had flies and other insects buzzing around it which was clearly rather unpleasant. The service at the bar was also quite clunky and slow. I also found going upstairs that the condition of the windows, particularly in the bathrooms, was quite poor.

I have been here 3 times in the last couple of months for lunch and breakfast and it was lovely so we booked for dinner last night and we were all very disappointed. The staff were lovely, we weren't on the booking list so had to sit in the bar area which was ok, we then ordered dinner. My husband ordered the chicken sizzler and when it came it wasn't sizzling it was cold, all our dinners were cold except for mac and cheese. The men carried on eating theirs but my husband only ate half of his. My friend sent hers back as it was chicken new yorker and I sent my chips back. The staff were very good and got it sorted but because it took so long we couldn't have pudding as it was too late. There must be a different chef from during the day because I have had no complaints any other time. Unfortunately we won't be coming back in the evening for a while just during the day. Spoiled a lovely evening out.

Sean our server was really nice great communication skills. The food was delivered to our table very quickly within 4 minutes of ordering on the app our onion ring sharer arrived followed a minute later by drinks. We were eating our main within 15 minutes. We are so impressed this is our first visit and we will be coming back. My family and I were so pleased it’s our first meal out since February with 2 of us as shielders and we felt very safe and comfortable and didn’t worry about the pandemic. Decorated really nicely for Christmas which was an added bonus. Thank you very much for a wonderful service EDIT: knocked a star off because we visited for a Sunday roast and I have to say you could get a better roast dinner meal from Iceland for a quid. It was absolutely appalling and that’s being generous and certainly wasn’t worth £8.79 Also I had a 10p sized amount of what I can only assume was smash potato. There was no mint sauce available or any roast dinner condiments at all. I suggest you stick to your normal menu and leave roast dinners to the carveries. No criticism of staff who were really pleasant and polite

A wonderfully old pub with wooden beams and old brickwork showing in the main restaurant. It's a hungry horse chain and has a wonderful diverse menu for all tastes. The staff are very friendly and attentive but not over bearing. The food is very fresh and hot on arrival. All in all a good friendly family reasonably priced place to eat.

Fleming Arms is so welcoming with a great bunch of staff particularly Sean, did ask his name as he was so understanding with a small issue we had as was another really helpful member is staff and he said to remember Sean and Preston, so not sure if that was the other assistants name or Sean's surname either way the service and food was excellent particularly the extremely indulgent Black Forest Desert which is cherry flavour within chocolate fudge cake with custard, it's amazing oooh the calories. Fleming Arms keep up the great attentive service, there are so many places that couldn't really care less.

Really good value menu.Monday to Friday has a special section in the menu - two meals for £8.45. We chose two from the reasonable selection offered and the standard was really very good. ( Its pub grub so don't expect silver service!). The staff are all very friendly, courteous. So if you'd like a decent meal for two for less than the equivalent cost at McDonald's, The Fleming Arms is definitely worth a visit!

Solid Greene King pub. Greene King beers and a variety of lagers and ciders to go with them. Turning into a more Spoons-style establishment with the menu design and app, only significantly more expensive. Food is solid, portions are generous and not too expensive, in contrast to the drink. Staff are friendly and Thursday nights seem to be some sort of game night although we've never gotten involved with that.

The place could do with a good clean and lick of paint but otherwise liked it and would go again :)

Only problem was the function room is not accessible by wheelchair, only by a steep staircase, and as there were a few of us wheelchair bound, we had to sit downstairs away from the rest of the funeral party.. A great local hungry horse pub! I love visiting the Fleming arms regularly for a quick cheap meal with friends... Quality of the food is always good and hot. Staff are friendly and helpful whenever I visit. Some great deals during the week. Burgers are always nice and the ice cream sharer Sundays are always a fun option if you're with family/friends. The wait is always good for food. The recent refurb is great... Upstairs is beautiful with the old beams and the booths all have small TVs to keep the young ones occupied. Definitely worth a visit - especially if you're on a budget :)

Went for an english breakfast whilst staying in Southampton whilst visiting our daughter at Uni as it is close to Wessex campus. Was a bit unsure what to expect because of the mixed reviews but was pleasantly suprised. The refurbishment is lovely and the breakfast was great and such wonderful value for money. The menu consists of a good range of basic pub grub at good prices and the service was excellent and very helpful. If you are looking for a trendy gastro pub go elsewhere but if you want a local pub with good priced food in comfortable surroundings, then give it a go!

Group booking can be made for the upstairs lounge. There is a large outside sitting area for fine weather. There is a large car park to the rear. The pub is located on a busy bus route and is very close to Swaythling Railway Station for those travelling from further afield.

This is a place that used to be great, but is now very run down. Service is slack, food is pretty poor...but it's cheap, so you shouldn't expect The Ritz. The staff seen to struggle with almost every order, but they are generally quite welcoming. I first used this pub back in 1966-67, it was a great little local, well supported by the commuters who arrived at nearby Swaythling station...and had the adorable 'Bobby' working behind the bar, with her pal Pat. Bobby looked like Kim Novak...truly beautiful. The intervening years haven't been good to this little pub and all the uniqueness of the old days has been replaced by large screen TV's and gaming machines. Still a local's pub, but kind of soulless.

Had our wedding reception upstairs in March this year, food all done and presented lovely.. served by staff.welcome drink 4 everyone on arrival.. bottles of drink replenished when asked.. all cleaning and tidying done for us...NOT disturbed by anyone although toilets are upstairs and used buy NON wedding party...lovely set up of tables etc....would use again for small function of up to about 60 people.

For a large Sunday roast I found it very small all I had was three tiny roast pots three tiny pieces meat one floret of cuilflower few carrots tea spoon mash and Yorkshire very little gravy had to ask for more gravy
