Reviews of Jolly Sailor
H. F.
Wonderful old school pub, next to the water. Did not eat but food smelt good and planning a return to sample! Arrived by boat well worth the trip.
D. D. (.
A great old type pub with a large area on the grass outside with plenty of tables and seats. The waterside is just a couple of metres away and good quality food can be served to your outdoors table. We went there late lunchtime on a Monday during the school summer holidays and it was peaceful and calm. There are also several flat waterside paths if a gentle walk is required and also part of the south coast path if you want a longer distance walk. Plenty of parking behind and beside the pub.
K.
I lovely little pub that does food. It has friendly staff and a good atmosphere. It is fairly traditional in appearance and has an open log burning fire place in the middle. It's located right next to the water and also has a lot of outdoor seating that is great in the summer.
R. W.
Very charming pub which we stumbled into after a particularly cold november sea swim. Felt cosy and friendly, locals were friendly, and we warmed our feet by the fire. Bliss ☺
J. K.
Welcoming. Lovely roaring fire. Good pub grub.
G. J.
Unpretentious and honest is how I rate this pub. A little gem at the end of a pretty lane down to the waters edge. Good food and some well kept ales like Ringwood best bitter. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. And a great walk down to Calshot for after.
C. W.
Just popped in for a drink. It was quiet, but we enjoyed it. We will recommend this place to our friends, great place for a drink and great views. Huge car park.
D. C.
Had lunch here, good outdoor eating area overlooking the boats in the small harbour. We were told there would be over an hour wait for food, but this was not the case. Food was good & hot, but side salad was a tad bland, lettuce, cucumber, onions & peppers, (would've preferred some tomatoes instead of peppers, but that's my opinion)! This won't put me off eating there again.
J. M.
Great beer, served at the perfect temperature with just the right amount of head.
N. D.
Fantastic food see photos, friendly staff , well worth a visit if in the area 👍👍👍👍
N. P.
Seems a nice locals pub but welcoming to strangers . Good food a lot of effort goes onto preparation
R. B.
Fab little find. Great range of alcohol and freshly made food that tasted delicious, set next to a small port with lots of lovely walks around.

As a wheelchair user it was a bit of a nightmare from start to finish, however the staff were lovely, the food was very nice and the views were lovely.
K. W.
Nice pub after a walk round Ashlet Creek
P. C.
Absolutely gorgeous local country pub right by the quay. Friendly staff and locals and in a perfect setting. This place deserves to be packed to the rafters with customers but it was beautifully quiet for a weekend in August. The food looked great and the prices were very reasonable.
There's a large outside seating area and a large covered area too. Well definitely be returning here!
C. C.
It was great, good service and good food at a godd price with a great view.
J. M.
Perfect venue for such a lovely day. Outside seating looking over the Creek. Tasty sharing dish. Traditional pub ambiance. Feels timeless.

What a Pub.
Had a brilliant evening here.
A great hidden gem with fab staff and owners.
The buffets here are very generous.
Good choice of beer and ales.
A good get away pub with friendly atmosphere.
P. H.
Well worth finding.
This is an historic pub with some smuggling carried out long ago.
It's at the end of a lane with plenty of parking overlooking a tiny little tidal harbour. An old mill still stands next door but appears empty.
Very friendly staff at the Jolly Sailor and a good basic menu of bar food.
Nothing exotic but well presented.
Good selection of beers and cider
A decent size garden to the front overlooking the water across to Southampton.
I would highly recommend a visit and I will make sure I visit again soon
S. N.
Lovely place for a nice secluded quiet drink with real Happy friendly staff

Second time of visiting. Staff were really friendly, meals were lush and at a good price. Puddings.... got to try their keylime cheese cake. Lush! We will be back! Thanks guys!

Nice outdoor seating area over looking the Solent and the forest. Still as lovely as ever

M. W.
Welcoming, local pub, dog friendly, great food in an idealic setting on the waters edge with a lovely open fire. Plenty of parking.
M. C.
Busy little pub, nice by the water and lots of outside seating.
J. S.
Wonderful view with seating outside. The staff were delightful and friendly with great service. We didn't have to wait long for food and once it was ready, we were met with a delicious and full of flavour meal. Defiantely would go again.
F. B.
Lovely pub with friendly staff serving excellent food, especially the vegetarian Sunday roast.
A.
Lovely to see this lovely pub open again. We went on Sunday. Nice atmosphere, lots of people enjoying the sunshine. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Food was basic (no Sunday roast) waited quite while for our food. Which wasn't a problem for us as we were in no hurry. But early days. We will definitely be back.
T. Q.
Lovely quiet head of the creek pub with good dog walks
S. N.
Beautiful setting, reasonable choice of food and drink at affordable prices. We both ordered curry but they looked and tasted entirely different - don't know why! TBH could have done without the karaoke from the kitchen coupled with a few choice words although we would probably visit again more for the setting than anything else.
A. K.
Lovely spot, friendly and very good value. Sell Ringwood Best. Needs small internal ramp to improve wheelchair access
D. J. O.
Limited menu (midweek lunch in January) well kept beer, friendly staff, pleasant decor, lovely wood fire, nicely nautical in a lovely location. All in all everything a decent pub should be. On my list of pubs to take people to. Well done!
N. L.
Nice quiet pub in a beautiful tranquil place.
G.
Such good value home cooked food and so tasty.😋 My sister was extremely pleased with the vegetarian menu and wants to go back and work her way through it all. 🤗 Well behaved dogs very welcome too.
D. D.
A hidden gem. Friendly staff, friendly locals. Simple, but delicious food menu. Great starting (and return) point for a good walk to Calshot. Really recommend this place

M. M.
Lovely cosy local pub.
Have not eaten here so could not comment on the food.
Plenty of parking and nice area.
Beer was cold and refreshing and everything was clean and tidy.
k. j.
Visited end of Sept 2020 whilst on a break. Seemed a 'locals' place but was greeted nicely.
Setting up a great outdoor seating for distancing. Good luck to them.
M. M.
Cosy, homely pub with a real fire. Visited on Sunday lunchtime early Feb 2020. Fairly busy with locals, families and dog walkers. Home cooked meals, including Sunday lunch at very reasonable prices. Check it out.
p. b.
Ok.but run out lot off the food off menu .by 130pm. reasonably busy one person only manning bar and 30 to 45 mins wait for food . Our food good.. pub grub.friendly place for people and dogs..
K. V.
A nice pub which has recently been decorated outside, large beer garden overlooking Ashlett Creek marina. Food is plentiful and good. Also a nice place to take your dog for a walk following the coastline to Calshot and on your return enjoy a nice well earned pint and water for your dog.
A. O.
Delightful staff and picturesque location, with ales on tap
H. H.
Much smaller than I thought but good atmosphere, their sound guy was good at choosing music during intervals of bands playing and drinks were relatively cheap. Looks lovely on the waterfront too!
N. R.
Nice pub plenty of seating outside to enjoy the views. Haven't tried the food yet.
J. A.
Lovely warm open fire. Very nice food and amazing value. The singing from the kitchen showed everybody was happy in there work. Well done

This is a lovely pub set in the village of Fawley. It just had new landlord and new menu offering nice meals we just had a baguette which wash very nice. It is set near the Southampton water channel. There are seating outside and a lovely walk along the water front leading to Calshot activity ctr and beach.
A. W.
It was very pleasant clean and a good place to go for basic pub grub after a lovely walk
A.
A great variety of vegetarian and vegan food on the menu. Fabulous food and at a very reasonable price. Lovely staff, polite and didn't feel rushed. Thank you all.
N. B.
The food and drink is reasonable but you must visit for the location. It overlooks a charming little creek just off Southampton water. Seems to have undergone a recent renovation . Well worth a visit.
D.
Went in the week. Very quite (covid realted I think) Sat outside and got assaulted by mosquitos, not the jolly sailors fault. Lovely staff, good beer.

L. M.
A lovely place to pop to for a quiet pint. Situated on the edge of Southampton water with stunning views.
T. J.
Fairly simple lunchtime food and unfussy. Good value and felt welcome
M. C.
We had a meal, food was good, felt rushed, stopped cooking at 8pm, asked if we could have a sweet, positive NO! The owner/barman not very sociable and abrupt.

J. B.

S. C.
Good value food.
Pleasant helpful staff.
Excellent location, especially when able to sit outside and view the creek.
B. S.
I had lasagne which was very good value and nice. Unfortunately there seems a lack of atmosphere in the pub, tmaybe the antiquated cheap furniture? The staff were very nice.
S. C.
Straightforward pub, just by the Quay, had a ham egg and chips which I couldn’t fault. Its not pretentious and all the better for it
J. S.
Staff were friendly and a lovely real fire with a good vibe to the place. A tad old fashioned but it didn’t matter. Food was good too
D. H.

Jolly Sailor tucked away down a bendy lane on the way you will get a lovely veiw of the Solent ,when you reach the end you have lovely tidal creek and can walk to Calshot if you choose. In the coldest days you find a fire lit .In summer you can sit out side and enjoy the veiw & boats from the yauht club . The Jolly Sailor is open again, Jan 2019, great staff, pizza is the only food on offer at the moment , but promises of good pub food after a kitchen refurb..for the summer . I will keep you updated ...
