Great all round pub. Very decently priced for both drinks and food! Food was much better than expected considering the price. Atmosphere can be a bit hit and miss depending on whether there’s a big sports event going on (sometimes the locals can get a bit too vocal). Well laid out with plenty of seating!

Went here for a Birthday party and had a great time it was cheap bar staff was chatty talking to everyone and having a laugh he was not a robot like you get in most pubs these days food was alright portions seemed small and toilets are much better than the last visit they lock the garden gate at night.

We went here to celebrate my birthday. Food was fantastic, my burger was delicious. Burger, Egg, bacon, cheese, hash browns & salad. Was going to go to a local ice cream parlour for pudding but was sold on the G&T sundae so no need. Burger deal included a drink. Mum had pensioners 2 courses for £4.99 so she had garlic mushrooms & cod & chips. For an extra £1 she had apple crumble. Great value for money will definitely come again

Been here a few times now and never seem to have any issues. Nice beer garden at the back near the car park which can get a bit noisy as it's sandwiched between 2 main roads. If you park in the car park, don't forget to register your car inside. Staff are always super friendly and polite!

Fabulous! Only popped in for a drink to kill a bit of time but ended up spending a few hours here, The food was superb, Drinks were presented beautifully and the staff working were incredibly helpful, talkitive and looked like they were having a fab time even though it was busy, Our food did take a little longer to come out as we came during lunch and every table was ordering food but it came out within 30 minutes and was incredible value for money, I would have expected to pay much more for the quality and presentation of the food it was restaurant standard. Our rounds were also cheap under £10 for 3 drinks i was amazed. We will definitely be back, Thank you to Jake and the girls whos name we didnt manage to catch but you made our visit & made us stay as long as we did. Thank you 😊

A quick visit to the mitre has change my opinion on what used to be an average pub with average food. We visited today for lunch we were greeted at the door by a young girl who seated us and explained their new procedures. We ordered on their new app and waited for our drinks to be delivered by another girl who was smiley and chatty, We ordered fish and chips and scampi and chips it arrived quickly, perfectly cooked and even had the sauce and lemon with it. Over all we enjoyed our lunch and will definitely be visiting again.

I was in here with my daughter today, very early evening, to have a snack before our journey home. We just had simple burger and chips, one beef and one vegetarian. Both were delicious. Looking at the menu , there was a good choice of vegan/vegetarian food. All prices were very reasonable, including the drinks. The only down side of the visit was that no hot drinks were being served, so I couldn't have the coffee that I really wanted. I don't know if this the policy here or if there had been a problem making it impossible, but it was a shame. The staff were very friendly.

Standard Greene King pub, spacious and has a pool table. Beers are mainly Greene King with a standard selection of lagers and ciders. Nice range of spirits etc. available too. Pricing is higher than some pubs in the area but not outrageous. Can't fault the place although there's nothing particularly special about it. They often show sporting events at out-of-hours times too, facebook I think is the best place to find details on this. Edit: 3 to 4 stars, nice to see a business that actually interacts with its customers, that’s better than most Greene King pubs.

We came for our Christmas meal here so we could exchange gifts and eat together before going home for Christmas we all had a great time the food was delicious if not a little too much and Jay and Holly were quick with food and interactive with us checking everything was okay and if they could get us anything else. Where do I begin?? If I could sum up the mitre in one word, it would be amazing! Having attended the mitre over 60 times in the last 2 years during my time as student with the university of Southampton, many great memories have been made. Staff are friendly, food is wonderful and the overall atmosphere just cannot be beaten. The mitre has become a place that has allowed myself and my friends to escape from the stress of university life, the place we go to take a break from studying and the place we are at our happiest. Having attended the mitre for pretty much every big game whether that be premier league or champions league nights, the pub has never failed to deliver. Would 100 percent recommend especially to new students studying in Southampton, looking to find a good breakaway from studies and a good place to catch up with mates. Prices are reasonable with students getting 10 percent discount. The 2kg of chicken wings offers a good challenge to anyone who thinks they are a big eater.

We visited The Mitre last night (Monday 17th) for a bite to eat and a game of pool. We received top notch service from the gent in the green top, He was very smiley, chatty and as well as taking our order he brought our food over to us and collected it when we had finished, I had a lasagna which was delicious although there was no garlic bread the guy who brought the food explained they had ran out during service and upgraded us with some fries and onion rings to compensate. We finished our evening with a game of pool while the football was on. I will be returning to The Mitre as the food is good, service and communication from then staff are good and there is a pleasent atmosphere.

I quite like this pub, especially after the refurbishment. The food is cheap, it has comfortable seats and eating areas. The sport, pool, eat areas are separated, which is good. It can get a little rough on Saturdays (was harassed once by one of the customers), hence you won't see me there on the weekends. The staff are always lovely but not everyone from the staff know what's on offer in the pub, e.g. tried to order a special cocktail or a burger (Christmas offer, advertised on all tables) and sometimes the employee behind the bar wouldn't even know what I was talking about. They have around 3 pool tables, which is great. And a dart board, which you aren't allowed to use?? I was told by one of the employees that the darts went missing, so all customers are being punished for that (but that was a year ago, so maybe things are different now).

I had 45 minutes to kill before an appointment locally. The Mitre was right on the doorstep so I dropped in for a swift beer. Their ATM was out of order, but they offered a no minimum spend on my debit card. I then ordered a cider and at the moment of pouring...I changed my order to a lager...no problem there either. Then I gave them my car registration for the car park...or rather I didn't...'cos I couldn't remember my number!!! However, this too was no problem and although I began to leave the pub to confirm my details, the missing number came to mind. Great service, great patience, lovely people...not very local to me, but I know I'll be back. Recommended for couples, groups and singles...not sure about families? They offer food, live sports and no doubt other options for their clientele.

They have done a nice refurb it's good place to have a few drinks watch the football but it does get very busy. The drinks are not expensive and the food is decent and well priced. The garden is a good size but I wouldn't have food out there as that's where people smoke

It is with a heavy heart that I write this review. It is with a heavy heart and the onset of multiple medical emergencies but I have nothing better to do as I sit in a hospital bed. But since this may be my last review I may as well make it a good one. It took 6 month for my arteries to clear after eating the all day breakfast at the mitre. My hands are still unsteady so this is taking some time. My condition has left me as many would describe as barely recognisable. My memory of the event is somewhat blurred after I lost 20% brain function and my marriage. The only thing I can honestly say I got out of this meal at the mitre is the loss of my close family and an approaching death. What can I say about the food. It came with margarine. The baked beans are best described as knackered. The waitress came out and sang happy birthday to me. Needless to say it was unwelcome. I asked for gas and air behind the bar and to their credit they were quick to respond. The ambulance took no time at all and I was impressed. After they loaded me in the back they brought out the sausages which was a welcome but late edition. Against the advice of my paramedics I chowed down which in hindsight worsened my condition and possibly caused a delay in recovery by up to 3 months. Suddenly, as I realised what was happening, I looked around that the clientele and could see I was not alone in ordering the all day breakfast. I got nervous I was bottom in the queue for the ambulance. As soon as I get back on my feet I'll be back. 5 stars.

We decided to stop in after picking our daughter up from University to spend Christmas with us. I was delighted at the selection of Gin available, The young lad who was serving seemed to be quite knowledgeable about gins as did the young lady they recommended Sipsmith Lemon and I am happy they did. Our food was delicious and came quickly the girl running it didnt speak much english and didnt bring us ketchup but we we're okay without it as our steaks were moist and cooked perfectly now for the long drive home. Would have been a better experience if the toilets were cleaner and the door actually shut and bolted properly and that the toilet roll was in the cubicle. Luckily I had tissues in my handbag for such an event(2014). Will be visiting in May and August this year(2016)so I hope there will be improvements for the toilets.

Came in for meal yesterday at around 18:30 and was pleasantly surprised about how good for money everything on the menu was. 1 whole kilo of chicken wings for £6!!!! Staff were all lovely and efficient, it looked like they all enjoyed working together which as a customer is a very nice thing to see. We were served by a lovely lady called leah who was very funny. Not sure why it was so quiet inside as everything was brilliant. Well done xx
