Banging time at O’Neill’s, perfect place to go out before you hit the clubs on a Friday and Saturday with live music. Food is banging the tacos on the new menu are unreal and class place to come and watch the football. Staff are all lovely and can have good banter with all customers

Standard O'Neills. Went in for a quick lunchtime bite to eat. Food was good standard. Drinks were also good. Little bit of slow service here and there but understandable with social distancing and limited staff. The staff were very friendly and helpful, also very informative!

Got there in a group of 8 none of us were drunk or irresponsible. However we got to the door and gave our IDs and the bouncer, he looked at me and said that I wasn’t allowed in because of the trousers I was wearing. He then proceeded to pull my pockets and for no reason started to intimidate me. I think it was a complete overuse of power and felt like he had to do it. Really unprofessional and wasn’t needed. However, after that had great Service from bar staff and have no complaints about anything else.

Only our second time here, but won’t come again. We came on a Sunday afternoon (very quiet) but had to wait a long time for our food. My wife had the gammon- overcooked and dry. There was no wholefood bowl (salad) as they didn’t have all the ingredients. I had the steak & Guinness pie - again very overcooked and dry. The vegetables were lukewarm as were the plates. Overall it was disappointing.

Wetherspoon vibe but with pricier drinks and a worse selection. Can't comment on the food. Sound system was bad with a set of speakers constantly cutting out. Security took a very long time to stop a fight inside, and there was a lot of blood in the toilets which wasn't cleaned up all night (people more squeamish than me may not have liked that so much). I still had a pretty good time in there, hence 3 stars.

I went for a meal with a friend on bank holiday Monday and I felt like the team were prioritising safety, which is great at the moment. We were brought over to our table, the rules were explained and we were made to feel comfortable. The food was typical pub offerings, but the vegan burger was good. I was impressed by their meat free options. There was an occasional wait for food and drinks, but that is to be expected with social distancing and I didn't mind. For dessert, I ordered the chocolate torte which was vegan and unfortunately not fully defrosted on this occasion. That's okay, though. I know establishments like this are under a lot of pressure at the moment and it did not ruin my day out. Keep it up, Above Bar team!

Hello. I went to O' Neil's in Southampton 26th August, with four friends. We all had a good meals and a few drinks. The social distancing was well acceptable and the place was clean. Sanitizers were plenty. The staff were friendly and happy and attentive. I especially want to praise Hannah, she was exceptional, remembered our drinks when we ordered more and went out of her way to chat. But all the staff were really great, a credit to the company. We have been there a few times overall but this was the first time I've been since lockdown. We'll soon be going back.

Had lunch today at O Neils, first time I have been in since it was refurbed. Looks a lot fresher with the new furniture. A great variety of food to choose from which was excellent and priced very competitively. In addition there was an extensive variety of beer that should suit all tastes. The staff were at tentative and looked after you extremely well, especially Julia who was obviously well on top of her job. Overall a great lunch experience and is to be recommended.

What a difference a refurbishment can make! Absolutely love the new look and the staff are so friendly and helpful! Food is so deliciously well done and you're spoilt for choice with condiments available on the table. Only issue we had was that we ordered a Pizza and a Burger and the food arrived at the table at different times (5-10 minute difference), we were told that it was because the Burger would take a little longer, we didn't mind as we were in no rush but its just one of those things. I'd give this review 4 and half stars but I can't. Would definitely come again!

We visit this pub on a regular basis, even before it’s recent refurb. But since being O’Neils it has gotten even better! The management team run this place very well, and we always receive exemplary customer service! Good drink quality and a brilliant atmosphere! Emily, assistant manager always makes us feel welcome and we’ll looked after! Would definitely recommend!

Looks pretty outdated on the outside of the building, but inside is alot nicer and more modern. A good traditional pub. Cheap prices, and some great food! Downsides I would say would be when you order unlimited tea/coffee for breakfast you need to wait for bar staff to come over and then boil the kettle to give to you for any refills. I think they could benefit from a self service machine. Otherwise a great place to go for a drink or some food!

When I was posted near to the spitfire, the pub very quickly became my 'local' such to the extent now I am posted away from Southampton I acutely miss having it just down the road. The staff were attentive and speedy, the queue for the bar never too long. Tables were cleared in a timely manner by friendly staff who always had a little chat, the food was standard pub grub done to a high standard for a decent price. The venue it's self is a wonderful variety ranging from hosting the sports on the TV/Projector to a quiet bar for a few drinks then swapping over to a live in house DJ on Friday/Saturday for a lively start to any night out. I thoroughly enjoyed my time in the Spitfire with my peers and I aim to pop by for a pint whenever I am in Southampton

The spitfire is a comfy and cozy little pub that is spacious with plenty of room for large groups as well as individuals. The drinks are well priced and the food is very good. On Wednesdays they have an offer which is buy one cocktail get the other free. (I don't kbow what/if they do this on other days or the times).

Had a great night, loads of cheesy tunes, although security were a but previous because I sat on the balcony along the side of the stairs, causing no harm to anyone, if it been kicking someone in, fair play. Big surprise for the owners, if a group chucks £1200 over the bar, some of us will have had a few. They let me back in when they realised I was paying the bill 😂

Visited for my birthday lovely meal and cheap just disappointed with the service from one person (all other staff were lovely) who I think was a manager or supervisor who was reluctant to provide our cocktail party package which I requested previously when booking and we were told the menu I downloaded was wrong eventhough it was downloaded direct from their website. They do accept AA membership discount, download a voucher from the website or AA app to get 20% off your food and drink bill for up to 10 people!

I don't understand why it is so difficult to get a table booking here, I even booked a week ahead and then my table was cancelled via my email request, how is fair that you have told me in the past to book online to then cancel my request are people booking months in advance and if so then that doesn't seem a fair practice and should be looked into

The Spitfire is good value for money. Often start here on a night out for a few drinks and food. What let's it down is they close off a large area on a Friday and Saturday night with notices that say the tables are reserved from 8pm, which must lose them food sales. This is for the DJ that turns up about 8.45 and starts his set about 9pm. The only reason thet they need to reserve such a big area must be because of the size of his ego! The only other negative is the doorman that I say hello to on a regular basis, always insists on seeing ID on football w/e's in case I might be an away fan!

Typical corporate pub chain. Pleasantly designed, food / menu is what one would expect from a chain pub, is central to city, and the best thing is beer is cheap, just about £2.30 ish a pint. They do a good well priced breakfast.. In my opinion good value.. so if you just peckish on way home after a mad night out, or, if you just fancy a quick pint on a hot saturday afternoon, it worth a visit.. other than that, it is what it is, a corporate chain pub. clean, pleasant, and staff, mostly ok

When I lived in Soton, I used to meet here for drinks with my pals from the university. This pub has a great atmosphere. You can spend entire days either watching football on tv, seeing pedestrians walk by, fixing the world with your pals, and all of those activities can and should be done around one of the many drinks served at The Spitfire. I miss you, guys. This review is being written from Patagonia. More than 10,000 kilometres away from Southampton. Keep your coolness, amigos! One day, I will drop by. Again.

The Spitfire competes with pubs like the local Wetherspoons (Giddy Bridge and Standing Order), and more pubs alike in the area. Luckily though, it is not a Wetherspoon and has a more personal feel to it. There is music, which in my opinion is a big plus. I feel like there is more choice in food and it is of slightly better quality than that of the Wetherspoons. There is a decent selection of beers, and the staff are friendly and personal. The Spitfire is my go-to-place for a "budget pub" in Southampton.
