I stumbled across Smugglers while in S'hampton for a night and they squeezed me in. The place had an incredible vibe, friendly staff and the food (and wine) was sublime. Great value and not your average city bar. Keep it up guys!

A hidden gem. Slightly off the beaten track but worth the 2 minute walk. A trendy style bar, serving good quality food at non extortionate prices. Beer collection was decent - lagers. Good range of spirits. Would recommend for small groups or couples. Bar staff very friendly with table service.

Made a last minute phone booking for 9 people and our table was ready when we arrived 30 minutes later. The food was lovely, well presented and there was something for each of the 4 adults and 5 children under 14 years old in our group. Selected cocktails were 2 for £10 and were some of the best we've had! Nothing was too much for the staff.

First time here, and its tucked away on one of the backstreets which is quite nice actually. A group of 8 of us walked in and we were able to be seated pretty quickly. I was impressed with the food, the service was initially slow but sped up shortly after. Overall a nice meal and would go back! This restaurant allows you to charge your phone whilst at the table with a portable power bank from in house. That's quite unique and its the first restaurant i have been too which does this. Well done to Smugglers for introducing that.

Came here on a date last night, and safe to say we'll be back! The dining area, bar, and garden are nicely decorated and very well kept. The staff were friendly, service was quick, and the food was amazing (I'd recommend the sweet potato skins and the tropical mess). Couldn't fault it!

Booked for dinner on Saturday evening with husband and two kids (12 and 14). Only table available to book was outside, but the person on the phone explained the set up (road closed, tables in street) and we were happy with that. All the staff were very helpful and friendly. Service was fantastic! Food was absolutely delicious with big portions - we couldn't finish, so the waitress bought us packaging to take it home! As Smugglers is in a lively area I wouldn't say that sitting outside would be ideal for everyone, but we like a good laugh, so we had a fabulous time! Inside and rear garden also looked very nice.

After some hiccups with reserving a table for 14 for my birthday we were honoured with exceptional serve, outstanding food and a wonderful waitress. They gave us a private room in order for our booking, the food was delicious and wonderfully cooked. I had the buffalo wings and they were spicy and juicy with the blue cheese sauce that really cut through the heat. The brisket burger that was moist, tasty and not heavy at all. The apple crumble which for me was the best dessert I have had a Southampton restaurant in a very long time. We had a female waitress (sorry that I didnt get her name) that focused on serving us and was honestly a delight. They made my 30th a very wonderful night. I massively recommend them. I look forward to going back.

First of all, the best espesso martini I had in town. But alll their cocktails are great. Excellent friendly customer service, very good quality food, especially for the price compared to other places. Very professional and knowledgeable manager, very keen to provide a good experience for everyone. Everyone around my table looked very happy. Never visited until this week but have now been twice and I think that is sufficient for me to leave a review. The flood is standard pub fare but excellently cooked and very tasty! A friend who we went with is vegan and their menu wasn't short of alternative options, plus she said her burger was good! Their cocktails are on an all day two for one with their house cocktails being both unique and great. Overall it's a solid 5/5. This does not feel like a pub that is just "making do" during Covid but instead seems to be thriving from it. The outdoor seating is very comfortable and while the wait on our second visit was a little long at times, it was more than made up for by the friendly staff and the cracking food and drink. Both of my visits were due to a friend's recommendation but I am sure that I will be there in the future to show another friend one of Southampton's greatest pubs.

Very poor kitchen stock management but nice food. We booked a week in advance and turned up only to find out all of the beef burgers had run out by 7:30pm meaning we ordered food that wasn’t our first choice. We mentioned this to the staff but it is not the fault of the waiters/waitresses that insufficient food was ordered in by those managing the kitchen, especially given that there was prior notice of us visiting. I find it totally unacceptable that you can book a table for food a week in advance and find almost 30% of the menu is already gone by half 7! This is something that needs to be fixed otherwise I certainly wouldn’t be coming back. I would have given this 2* if it wasn’t for the friendly demeanour of the staff and the food we did receive was good. Fix up the stock problem and this place will be a winner

Absolutely fantastic little place. The food was to die for, especially the brisket! The prices are super reasonable, they could easily get away with charging a little more for the top quality food they send out of the kitchen. We took advantage of the Eat Out To Help Out offer and got 50% off our food so it made it even better! We sat in the outdoor area at the back which was really nice, and we had excellent service from Nathan who was also great with the kids. Cannot recommend this place enough, great in every aspect and I cannot wait to return

Brilliant food brilliant staff would highly recommend this place. I went here for a mates birthday and the staff looked after us all night. The food arrived quickly and tasted fantastic complements to the chef. The beer garden looked great and can’t wait to come back and sit outside in the summer. Called ahead to go for dinner on a Tuesday night and spoke to a man who said it’s fine for us to come. When we got there we were told they don’t have any space for us which was frustrating as we were told otherwise on the phone(to my understanding the guy who said we could come was no longer there when we arrived and it was an awkward situation for the 2 ladies to have dealt with but they were really polite) We have been there before and the food was great but our waiter forgot to send through our mains to the kitchen so we had to wait really long for it(we assume he forgot because he offered us dessert whilst we were still waiting and it took a while after we told him we haven’t had our main course yet for it to arrive) Overall I do love their food which is why I’ll probably be returning again but so far haven’t been very impressed by the waitstaff.

We came to Benzo for our engagement party yesterday evening with our group of friends. We were a party of 14 and booked at late notice. They set the table beautifully with the decorations we got for the occasion and were so helpful. Restaurant decor was sophisticated yet relaxed with a warm atmosphere. A nice selection of beers and wines was available. Food was delicious with generous portions and reasonable prices. My other half and I had the lamb which was tender and cooked perfectly with tasty gravy. Tom and the staff took such great care of us and made our evening really special. It was a fantastic experience. It could not have been any better. As we want to try most items on the menu they will probably be seeing us again soon!
