Reviews of The Admiral Sir Lucius Curtis - JD Wetherspoon
C. Y.
Atmosphere is good. The waitress served us the drinks and food, she has a sweet smile and very nice. The Fish and chips it's fresh and delicious but unfortunately not the beef burger, it's seem not freshly cook like been sat there for awhile and gone cold. Recommended to go for fish and chips.
A. S.
always good food and beer, i like this place as its a little bit posh but still with all the regular stuff a weather spoons offer.
Its easy and simple to get what you want and go relax at a table. staff are friendly and you never have to wait around to be served.
much better service that other local establishments.
N. L.
Another excellent use of an old building & being very close to the football ground is inevitably busy on match days.
Excellent cask beer quality but like so many others a much limited quantity of cask beers now available.
R. U.
It's a standard Wetherspoons, went on a match day so was very busy. Food and drink still came out in reasonable time. £9.40 for a decent burger and a pint always goes down well.
R. G.
Good breakfast, quickly served. Unlimited hot drink refills. Happy staff. Made a great meet up point and a good start to the day.
M. R.
What can I say, it's a Weatherspoons, you know exactly what you're getting. This was a breakfast visit, bit been here many times. Never had a problem with the food or drinks, and as always excellent prices.
C. E.
Wetherspoons pub in a convenient local location... Generally good, have witnessed some unsavoury characters drinking there sometimes though, pity.. Place is starting to look a bit "tired", but still good value for money food and drink..
M. G.
Went here for some catch up drinks with friends, pleasantly surprised with the selection of ales on offer, the try before you buy was a nice touch, the beer was pretty good, the selection of non/low alcohol beers was very good aswell.the table service was fast (ordered over the app) for drinks and food, all the staff seem friendly and pleasant will quite happily go there again.
J. C.
Very busy before a gig over that part of town, but the staff were awesome, and food was rolling out the kitchen within 10 mins of ordering it in the app.
I also like when you order food and drink together in the app, they bring your drinks straight away.
R. D.
Its a spoons. You get to enjoy cheap food and drink whilst watching a cross section of all the major local demographics pass through. Use the app so you don't have to get up amd lose your seat. If you need the bathroom, be sure to leave a trail of breadcrumbs on your outward journey so you can navigate back.
H. w.
Good food. Easy ordering through the app. Staff are helpful when any issues arise. Can get busy on weekends as it is close to city centre. Theres outside seating and a nice rustic feel inside. History of Southampton are hung on the walls. It could do with a lick of paint and clean carpets! Toilets are ok not very welcoming though. However for a wetherspoons its good.
A. W.
The Wetherspoons Admiral Sir Lucius Curtis pub - named after the senior Royal Navy officer who laid the foundation stone for Southampton's nearby Eastern Docks back in October 1838 - is situated in Ocean Village and is a historic grade 2 listed building (built around 1870) that started it's life as the headquarters of the Docks Board Office. After 130 years of use as offices for various companies associated with the docks and shipping industry the building was repurposed as a pub (the Cork & Bottle) in 2000. It was taken over by Wetherspoons in 2007 and given it's current name 2 years later.
Inside the layout has a nautical feel to it and this is reflected in a lot of the artwork displayed throughout the main room. The artwork also includes several features of local historical interest so if you like that sort of thing it's well worth a closer look. Being a Wetherspoons the food isn't cordon bleu but it is good, as are the drinks, and the prices are fantastic - always great value for money.
I've never been there in the evening but I visit regularly for lunch and it's clear the place is popular because it's always quite busy. On the whole the staff are friendly, efficient and helpful and a clear rapport can be seen between those who have worked there for a while and their regular customers. I've been having lunch there with my family almost every Friday for several months now and it wasn't long before the manager started saying hello. I like the fact that she recognises the regulars and makes time to have a chat even though she's clearly very busy.
In my opinion the Admiral Sir Lucius Curtis is one of the nicest pubs in Southampton so it gets top marks from me.
M. A.
Good location. Neef to chose your timing if it is match day. Team there is always helpful and attentive. Food is typically Wetherspoons. All is clean and tidy. At table service via app orders. We didn't see/have Xmas menu, but still had a good meal.
w. t.
Same as most Wetherspoons. Average food and cheap drinks. Although I was pleased to see the staff assisting a slightly elderly lady who had a few too many cocktails lol. They helped her outside and got a cab for her.
R. T.
Food same good price but lower quality than I remember. Veggy sausages less flavour, smaller portions too I think.
J. G.
A very tired and dark Wetherspoon pub, which needs some work. Corona served in ale glasses. A shame as the building is beautiful!
C. S.
Fantastic building, excellent service and food, loses a star as mostly 2 seater tables, very few 4 plus.
G. T.
Good selection of ales, beers & lagers. The food is good basic food. The staff were very good and helpful.
I will return!
C. s. F.
Great location, plenty of outdoor seating in the sunshine, food quality was good and drinks cheap.
S. R.
Lovely ambience (calming atmosphere, with high ceiling and sufficiently illuminated by sunlight during day time), reasonably priced food, friendly service, good vegetarian options (e.g. quinoa rice with salad, as a side).
R. S.
It's a pub for people who like pubs! Friendly service and if you want a quick bite to eat then this is the place to go.
Value for money beyond compare!
A. G. U.
Interesting pub with a lot of history and character. Right on the edge of Ocean Village, lots of parking etc.
The beer was on the side of room-temperature however, which I did not like one bit.
L. M.
only rating 5 stars cos of the cute girl who works in the kitchen. if anyone knows her name lemme know.
k. k.
Brilliant place to meet up and have a good time, very friendly staff always ready to help 😀 we ate there the food was good 👍
K. H.
A regular spoons. Cheap drinks, wide selection for both food and drink, quick service and pleasant staff, tables could use a wipe down abit more though
A. B.
Hidden Weatherspoons, you would never know. Lovely old building. Lovely atmosphere away from the hustle and bustle of town. Food looked amazing, cocktails were great :)
G. M.
Drinks the night before and breakfast the morning after nice little historical spoons all the usual really
M. K.
Quick service, great bar prices, good atmosphere and friendly staff. Is busy before and after football but still 5 star
J. D.
It's a Wetherspoons. It does what it says on the tin. It does good food at a reasonable price and the building is stunning.
J. S.
Had to have our third choice of meal as there wasn't the first two available.. no sort of complimentary side or drink offered for the inconvenience. It's was nice what we had however and always well priced. All the usual weatherspoon deals inside. Hopefully next time the kitchen is better stocked.
J. L.
Enjoyed my time here.
Drink and a chat with work colleagues after hours.
Not too quiet, not too noisy.
The food was very good but felt portion was a bit small. I had chicken tikka which came in a small bowl.and was made to look bigger with naan bread etc on the plate.
Drinks prices ok. It's a Spoons so pretty much what you'd expect.
Would recommend. This place is okay :)
O. J.
We visited a few times over the Thursday and Friday last week. It's so well located for the bars on the marina and Oxford Street. The staff were really good and there are tables outside when the weather is good. Drinks are incredibly cheap and the pub attracts all ages. We didn't eat but lots of people were having food. If you want somewhere not too crowded in a great location I'd recommend it.
A. W.
Standard Chain Pub, Somewhat palatable food, not much to shout about. Decent drinking hole.
P. W.
I came in for a beer and a drink or 3. With food. After some very acceptable real ales there was a small mix up of tables. Having used cash, the app and Google pay, I could understand the slight confusion. The staff were fantastic and solved the issue with complete professionalism. My ale, unfortunately was off. Again, the staff were not put off, by what would seem a complaining individual and once more solved the problem. I would like to say to all that work here, thank you, and keep up the great service.
A. D.
Pros:
The service was typically prompt via their ordering app.
We loved the interior with very high ceilings.
The fish we ordered was delicious with perfectly cooked chips.
Cons:
My burger had been left to stand to long and was not hot enough when I started eating it.
D. B.
Lovely place with a grand looking exterior and interior. Staff were friendly and helpful. This pub is in a building that oozes history of a bygone era. Absolutely love the figurehead behind the bar.
R. M.
Breakfast endless coffee refills at the spoons and a wander around the marina most impressed with Ocean village cannot see how I missed this gem before
m.
Been here a few times with my fellow Deckies at Warsash Maritime School, and it has a lovely atmosphere!
B.
It's a Spoons. Usually moderately quiet with fast service. Small size so can get crowded, especially after the football.
B. “. B. B. S.
They serve a Good Breakfast apart from the under cooked tomato. Coffee was Lovely as were the staff.
Definitely a place to go again if I am visiting that way.
K. B.
Always good to meet up prior to the game, good food, and love my coffee
N. S.
Good range of modestly priced ales & always a great atmosphere.
K. W.
Historic pub, located in ocean village. Lovely outside seating area. They deliver food quick and up to the Spoons standard. The staff were very helpful when I talked to them and gave a top quality service!
I. B. M. B. P.
Not been in for a breakfast before. It was alright. Coffee was nice refillable great value. Breakfast Muffins were very filling.
P. H.
Older style pub - excellent. Better quality ales & food than The Standing Order (High St).
N. S.
It'll still always be the Cork & Bottle to me, but as Wetherspoons go, The Admiral Sir Lucius Curtis is one of the better ones. Their ever-changing array of ales is the main reason to visit, with some pretty standard food options and a good-sized patio for basking in the sun near Ocean Village.
a. T.
Excellent service, food very fast in coming...My friend was annoyed as they didn't have any peppercorn sauce, and bottles of Merlot only on draft...overall not too bad
a.
I try to avoid Wetherspoons to support the independent pubs, but since this was the only one that was open at the time of visiting the area I thought I would give it a go, and was very surprised at how clean and tidy the seating area and bar was. Presumably towards the evening, its gets busier so subsequently messier, but at least the staff here know what "clean" means, something I think alot of other Wetherspoons branches can learn from.
The outside seating area is not the best as it backs out to a car park, behind Ocean Village, not in it, but the pub is large enough to seat alot of people, so it didn't feel cramped at all. The food was also cooked well, and for once was hot when it arrived. For sure one of the better pubs in the Southampton area.
R. M.
Very dimly lit and a bit rowdy. Toilets scruffy. Food was acceptable though.
R. T. w. #.
Come her for food often with friends when we have had a long week!! Does exactly what you expect from a wetherspoons
K. L.
It's a Wetherspoons that celebrates the life of Admiral Sir Lucias Curtis who laid the main stone in the docks area of Southampton many years ago. This Wetherspoons has a touch of class compared to its town centre pubs. Good food and beer can be enjoyed here.
M. S.
Have been to 4 different Witherspoon's Inthe the last few days and a lack of food available is shocking. If you are going to have a much reduced menu surely you should make sure of a decent supply. The new choice of menu is very poor at its best.Unless there is
a shortage of food nationwide,no excuse.
J. H.
Good value for money. Good staff.
G. T.
Great place to meet friends, inexpensive while maintaining good quality!
W. W.
Banging bit of munch. And nice friendly staff.
a. h.
Decent Spoons that's handy when visiting Southampton FC. Loved the cheesy chips!
E. C.
Food was great, atmosphere was nice and staff were friendly
F. F.
It's a nice pub good food and friendly staff
G. B.
Nice place. The food came fast and was good.
J. B.
It’s a spoons so it will never get 5 stars but it’s a good spoons, the building is lovely, large and historic which is nice, good seating too, some outside and nice location in ocean village.
Bar staff are always friendly but it can get busy as it’s popular with the nearby student halls.
Food is standard, it’s spoons so not much to say there, fair and filling.
b. r.
Ok beer and food, except inexperienced bar staff don't know how to serve people in correct turn. I was queue jumped by a scummer.
K. S.
Nice friendly place to have a drink
Thanks
I. B.
Good breakfast pleasant staff. Unlike the giddy bridge, where staff need to learn how to talk to customers and if your a smoker made to stand in restricted area on a public pavement even though they have seats out side. So will only recommend this one only
J.
The best wetherspoons in Southampton. If you like a nice quiet social evening with friends and prefer conversation rather than the screaming and shouting that the standing order offers, than you will enjoy this pub.
R. S. P.
Great place for a nice drink great service
D. B.
Another lovely old spoons.
J. Z.
Very busy and only two staff serving at bar, however got through queue very quickly. Ordered food which was at our table within 15 mins. It was fish Friday and had fish and chips plus a glass of wine for £7 65. Good value for money and the fish was light and chunky. Good table service.
S. K.
I've been in this pub a few times in the past but not recently, since the covid outbreak. I was really impressed with how well Catherine (I did ask for her name as I was so impressed) and her team were keeping all their customers safe, while giving fantastic and friendly service. I overheard so many customers being asked, in a very friendly way, to fill in the track and trace forms and explain why in a very professional manner. It made me feel very safe being in there and I will definitely return and recommend the pub to friends and family. Well done Catherine and all your team.....you've really impressed me. Thank you for a lovely evening
J. M.
Classic Weatherspoons pub, cheap food, cheap beer. What else can I say the staff are friendly and it is located in a much nicer part of Southampton. Always worth a stop off for cheap food. Lots of students visit this place though as there are halls of residence nearby.
D. G.
A large well done pub not too far from the water. Good value for the food. A big menu with lots of choice. Traditional pub items. Grill items and Indian ones too. Would have been five stars, but there was a long wait for our food. Our server did apologize and served my wife a second drink (which we paid for) at the table when normally you can only order at the bar.
J. F.
Very nice wetherspoons pub in lovely building near the waterfront
r. b.
Food was okay, ordered pasta for my son and a few bits of pasta wasn't edible, staff were friendly except for one of them, cheap and cheerful so can't complain to much
D. J.
Usually good, but very limited menu available on this evening due to issues with cooking appliances.
p. b.
Good cheap weatherspoons.
Had breakfast their when we got married and again last Thursday before we went cruising. Set us up for the day.
S.
Usual spoons but customer service was much better than others and its in a nice building.
A. W.
Convenient for Solent Air Museum. The pub has a maritime 18th /19th century feel to it. Wonderful local artefacts on the wall to do with the local maritime history including Titanic.
Typical Wetherspoons that's good value for money.
J. H.
Great place to eat and friendly staff.
s. w.
Was busy but that my fault as went in when saints playing at home .Great atmosphere and food was served quickly and nice
G. G.
Definatley the best Wetherspoons in Southampton...
E.
I ordered ribs an Brewdog IPA. It was a perfect combination and the ribs is so delicious.
R. C.
Very helpful, polite and friendly staff. Unfortunately there was a 30 minute wait for breakfast. They were extremely busy as a cruise ship had just docked and I was picking up my aunts so couldn't wait. Next time there I'll go in earlier as the food looked and smelled lovely.
p. l.
One of my family’s favourite gastropubs. Its local to me friendly and reliably good. Would recommend it to anyone who loves simple wholesome good eating;!p
S. V. V. (.
It's a pub. It's good.
M. W.
Group of 8. Hadn't reserved a table so had to squeeze around table for 4 until other patrons nearby left. Served quickly. Will visit again. Food came hot and tasted delicious. Compared to other pubs prices quite reasonable.
C. J.
Possibly the most clean and up together Spoon's in the UK. Food was quick out the kitchen and cooked well, staff very friendly, it was nice and warm without being over the top. Toilets clean and fully functional. I must start trying other items off the line but the Drive Thru burger is just to damm nice!!
A. T.
Good value food, great real ales
D. R.
Nice little Wetherspoons in Southampton.
Just a pity both coffee machines were out of action after 11pm.
M. R.
This a good Wetherspoons pub. I've always had good hot food. Friendly staff. Very clean and tidy. Good service. Only problem is parking you have to pay. It's not the pubs faults. The car park is no theirs. Will be going there lots more in future.
J. D.
I do love a good Weatherspoons 👍
L. l. l. B.
Best friendly service and excellent service and great to enjoy with friends
R. W.
Pretty typical wetherspoons so you know what you'll get, seems a bit tired now compared to when it opened. Can get a bit rowdy with some of the locals. Food always pretty good and decent value as you'd expect.
T. R.
Pretty good Wetherspoons with the usual menu cooked and served well by friendly helpful staff. A bit dark and dingy, with very little space and difficult for wheelchair users but the disabled toilet was clean and easily accessible, shame I can't say the same for the tables and bar area
m. c.
Such a lovely experience in Southampton, lovely beers, lively conversation, no side to anybody here, willing to help visitors and locals alike.
a. w.
Another Wetherspoons, close to ocean village and St Mary's.
Busy with football fans but managed to find a place to sit. Bar was really busy so we ordered using the app, drinks and food turned up quickly and were up to the normal standards.
M. G.
Lovely atmosphere nice bar staff
e.
I had a lovely experience at this pub! Comparing to my local London Wetherspoon's, the food was delicious, the place was clean and the staff was super friendly! I highly recommend it!!!!
h. B.
Excellent breakfast and coffees thankyou
N. S.
One of my favourite Weatherspoons pubs in Southampton which has great bar staff, location and friendly atmosphere. I like the layout of the pub and the toilets are downstairs. The food is good but can have a limited menu in peak times due to popularity of certain meals. Like all Weatherspoons pubs it can be packed to the rafters one minute and then other times lovely and quiet. All in all it is worth a visit due to location, value for money, good basic food and a friendly atmosphere.
p. l.
One of my family’s favourite gastropubs. Its local to me friendly and reliably good. Would recommend it to anyone who loves simple wholesome good eating;!p
J. B.
It’s a spoons so it will never get 5 stars but it’s a good spoons, the building is lovely, large and historic which is nice, good seating too, some outside and nice location in ocean village. …
B.
A good selection of real ales at a reasonable price
I. B.
Good breakfast pleasant staff. Unlike the giddy bridge, where staff need to learn how to talk to customers and if your a smoker made to stand in restricted area on a public pavement even though they have seats out side. So will only recommend this one only
J. S.
Standard fare of food and drinks for the chain
C. p.
Great drink and food prices.
J. M.
Classic Weatherspoons pub, cheap food, cheap beer. What else can I say the staff are friendly and it is located in a much nicer part of Southampton. Always worth a stop off for cheap food. Lots of students visit this place though as there are halls of residence nearby.
K. P.
Nice friendly bar staff spacious pub and goid value for money
M. R.
Quick service and very covid considerate good range of food and drink the food was good value and cooked well.
W. F.
Depending on the time you go, waiting time can be a bit long. You need to be careful on the queue or else it can take up to 10 mim to get served.
Food is OK for the price. About £18 for a meal for two depending on what you drinking.
Place is beautiful and the environment is friendly.
W. W.
I've been here a few times it always seems short staffed. Otherwise very similar to all other weather spoons.
P. R.
Another great Weather spoons pub cheap and varied beers always a good selection of craft beers as well as the usual larger. The food is standard pub fare. This pub attracts not only the locals but during the day several parties from the cruise ships.
D. H.
Had pub lunch very good
S. B.
One of the better wetherspoons. Friendly staff who are actually behind the bar serving the wide range of ales they're known for. Food standard fare but at least here it arrives at your table still hot. If you're after cheap reliable food & drink in Ocean Village you could do much worse than here.
P. S.
Great beer above average food.
And a homely ambiance.
B. S.
5 of us for the Steak Club Tuesday lunch, reasonably busy, comfortable, interesting venue, food and drink orders taken quickly and politely, meals arrived promptly with a smile, 14oz medium rare Aberdeen Angus Steak with all the trimmings, it was up there indisputably one of the best steaks i have had the pleasure of eating, i normally steer clear of franchise establishment's based on previous bad experiences, but Wetherspoon get the big tick from this diner. A great experience all round from all of our party. Very good value for money also.
2 Further visit's equally impressed, excellent service, great food, efficient staff and great ambiance, love this venue and location.
V. C.
Nice place just a little problem with finding parking for me as cannot walk far. Very good range or drinks and very good value for money. Food was good too. Hot and not microwave taste but fresh cooked.
J. W.
Wham atmosphere, gounge behind the bar, what else could you want? It’s simply amazing and the food is to die for they must have top quality chefs as the food they produce is always of top quality. Great value for money and cater for every person (Uber Christmas party). Would recommend to a friend and will be back again for dinner and breakie. Pres start now #BDFC
B. S.
Another great pub beer and food at the right price when most other pubs are asking silly money, good old JD.
G. A.
Great food, great staff. Could do with a refurb. Looking a bit old and dated now.
A. A. (.
Wow, the fish and chips were 3.99 a portion, tasted lovely and we had a meal for 11 pound. Didn't realise how good Wetherspoons can be!
T. G.
Good beer and nice building. Same old Wetherspoons problems. Dirty, sticky tables, 1 member of staff serving on Fri at 5pm. It's I go to 'spoons as a last choice these days... shame
G. W.
Great customer service. Good old fashioned Wetherspoons. Can't beat it!!
S. S.
Very good friendly staff better food than most weatherspoons
D. “. V.
The service was excellent, the staff were very nice and helpful and the breakfast filled an empty spot with a couple of pints .
J. F.
One of the best ones so far. Delicious meals and extremely friendly and helpful staff. Will be visiting again after the second lockdown end.
P. R.
Great place for a pre-match cuppa and breakfast. As with all ‘Spoons the big breakfast is excellent value for money and you can’t go wrong with free refills on your tea or coffee.
C. K.
No steaks for tuesday but this made the national papers. We had Haggis, Neeps & Tatees which was very good. Husband wants another serving before its taken off the menu. Would like to see a few more smiles from the staff, could then make this a 5 star review
D.
Nice pub serving a good selection of beers lagers and spirits, slightly lacking on the menu due to a busy day but overall still a nice pub
M. R.
Quick service and very covid considerate good range of food and drink the food was good value and cooked well.
C. H.
Decently priced as it is a Weatherspoons. Good service, busy in periods especially before and after Southampton games, friendly atmosphere and fine for away fans to have a quiet drink also .
G. L.
Brilliant public house. Brilliant prices on food & drink. Family friendly, clean, very attentive bar staff, quick service, attracts all ages, good offers. Highly recommended.
S. C.
Great food and beer, great price. Hasnt changed since it was my uni local ten years ago - brilliant!
M. W.
Good bar that gets very busy when Southampton FC play at home, as their ground is only a 10 min walk. A Weatherspoons pub that serves a great selection of ales, larger, wine etc and good, well priced food. About a 10 / 15 min walk from main shopping area.
C. R.
A Wetherspoons so predictable as to what to expect, food is good not too slow, parking is expensive as it is in most towns these days. Large pub with lots of varied seating, good atmosphere mostly.
S. H.
Fantastic atmosphere all day long. Had a WHAM chicken selug meal and was cooked to perfection. Took a BD on a first date here and managed to slug which is always a bonus. Highly recommend the pitchers here before a norty night out in SWITCH. Love Big slug x
N. B.
Great value breakfast. Staff excellent - went above and beyond to give a good customer experience. Covid secure. Recommended.
A. W.
Place seemed very tired, and a few beer taps off although food was OK.
D. M.
Good pub with friendly bar staff but not so good toilets tho sadly x
B. M.
This place is always a great spot to go for drinks or food, so cheap! Being a Wetherspoons, it is SO convenient to use the app and order through that. Can easily see this place becoming my local!
C. J.
When we are in an area we do not know we often opt for a Wetherspoons. Food and drinks are affordable and pleasant. They do tend to be slightly dark and dingy though so not recommended if you are trying to impress
S. R.
Decent Wetherspoons pub with a good beer and food
l. m. a.
We have been here before and its normally good but last week was a different matter.
We placed our order of 2 tradional breakfasts,1 small breakfast, bacon roll and mushroom poahed eggs.
We got our drinks etc sat down and after 10 mins was approached by a waiter who informed us that they didnt have any poached eggs so could we change the order.....
They DIDN'T have any Poached eggs.. !!!
How is that even possible, what does that actually mean.. Correct me if im wrong but isn't poached egg just eggs poached in boiling water??
How can you run out of this but offer scrambled as a alternative.
Ive taken this to mean that they obviously don't cook fresh food but order it in pre cooked.
Plus we waiting a really long time for the breakfast to even turn up.
Needless to say we wont be going back anytime soon.
Disappointing :-(
D. R.
Good food at low prices! Staff friendly, a very relaxing place. I guess that's why were always down here! Best weatherspoons we've been to in southern England!!!
C. P.
Good prices, although rising recently... Menu has a good variety. Good place to go with friends, tends to get a bit busy on weekends...
R. W.
Probably the best Wetherspoons pub in Southampton. Fast polite service and friendly staff. Had hot food within the allocated time limits. Avoid standing order, and brightwater. Giddy bridge grumpy staff cold to Luke warm food at best.
K. P.
Nice friendly bar staff spacious pub and goid value for money
H. D.
Reliable weatherspoons pub. Cheap drinks, good food and a decent atmosphere. Seating was more limited then other ones due to a smaller size. More exiteor seating however.
a. w.
Lovely pub . The service was very good staff are so friendly . Really good value for money . A nice relaxing atmosphere
M. W.
We really in joyed it very much the food was good
A. J.
A nice building decorated in the style of a belly button, but so far away from my house.
M. M.
Fantastic food, great service and such a nice setting.
J. A.
An intimate little wetherspooons slightly out of town. Excellent selection of real ales at a very good price.
C. p.
Great drink and food prices.
D. H.
Nice but i ordered gammon and chips ,and that is all i got.I spent £11 on a steak and chips for my son ,and thats all he got ,no peas ,salad or nothing .
J. G.
Hit the spot top notch real ales
K. W.
Very good place to meet and greet also to eat,
The only thing I would mention is the Beans at breakfast! More on the plate please! Not the amount you can count on your hands?
N. W.
Gave this Wetherspoons 4/5 because the service here is better than you average 'spoons and the ale is well kept.
*UPDATE* 15/11/2017
Lost one star because the service seems to have gone the same way as most Wetherspoons, downhill.
W. D.
Nice cosy pub with good service.
R. M.
Usual excellent service from the Manager(ess) and the staff... never a cause to complain at this particular branch.
J. J.
Love this place. Food is great, staff are friendly and there is plenty of room. Everything is a lot cheaper than anywhere else.
A. P.
A bit small so fills up quickly especially on match days. There is usually a queue for the Gents. Hot dogs are no longer on the Wethspoons menu.
A. J.
Jamile you are a star ! Saved the day finding the Funky mixer for the Pornstar cocktail I wanted . The (most ) staff are really friendly and cheerful except 1 ! Good value meals .
S. P.
A very nice and pleasant city centre pub which is very spacious inside and can therefore accommodate both drinkers and diners.
A. L.
Great food with good range to choose from. Friendly and efficient service. Would recommend and will definitely go again.
C. H.
Nice and quiet , Handy for something to eat before we went on holiday.
R. W.
Lovely food, pleasant atmosphere and great service.
F. C.
Excellent, all elements of my treatment fully explained.Note, this review is for the Ferry Dental Practice which is located on the first floor above Wetherspoons.
J. I.
I regularly use the Admiral. The food is good value and the service is good.it is located in an old building that is superb. The new app for ordering food an drinks is superb.
J. B.
It's what it says on the tin. Nothing extra
m. m.
Usual wetherspoon fare...
For service was quick to table..
First time we have been in since all table service, all went smooth..
C. P.
Went here for breakfast, had a gluten free option which was okay. Breakfast was served quite quickly as ordered on the app.
I. G.
For a Wetherspoons it is actually very good: efficient service and quite a nice atmosphere. By far the best value in ocean village for food and drink.
S. K.
Love Snadmirals. Pulled a BD and slugged. Started pres at 8am and then went to SWITCH. Great prices for HOOCH. 3 for £5 BARGAIN. I'd recommend getting the WHAM chicken tika Masala. Love BS.
D. J.
If you like Wetherspoon's boozers there is no reason to dislike the Admiral Lucius. Handy for two cinemas and strolls around historic Southampton.
The staff are affable and helpful.
J. C.
I always like coming to 'The Admiral' cheap, honest food - not the best flavour however you don't pay those sort of prices, it has a good selection of drinks. The staff have always been polite and well presented. Very good pub and in prime location given the new building going on at Ocean Village.
P. H.
Beautiful historic pub close to the marina. Cheap beer. Good cheap food. Chatty locals. Can spend an hour just reading history on the walls
M. B.
What you see is what you get. Good old Wetherspoons good food at a reasonable price and a decent pint. Very pleasant staff happy to help.
J. W.
Lovely breakfast. Great place to meet people. Good selection of 🍺 beers. Good presentation of food on the plate.
S. S.
Very nice pub in an excellent character building. Great selection of real ales. Inexpensive too. Well worth the visit.
D.
Average JD Wetherspoons. Decor is bit run down and it is more of your locals drinking pub than a have some food pub. Go to maratimo lounge near by if you want some food
D. C.
By far the nicest Spoons in Southampton. Still a spoons nonetheless but actually pretty nice.
S. P.
Poor selection of real ales showed ales available that we're off. Building is great but does not let much light in & is dimly lit.
F. I.
Great place for a quiet drink or a bite to eat or both !
B. T.
Usual weatherspoons food really enjoyable breakfast and a really bubble girl behind the bar and waiting tables call Izzy or Isobel well worth stopping by for some refreshments👍😎
C. W.
Typical Wetherspoons....cheap but tasty food, good beers in a historical and interesting building. The bar servers are all great too :)
D. O.
Good food
f. a.
Great value for money, cheap beer, reasonable food for little money, does get busy but staff serve efficiently!

T. D.
Probably the best JD I visited..
M. G.
A very small Weatherspoons, the beer was very good and the locals were not the usual dropouts, druggies and losers that you get in most town centre Weatherspoons.
D. W.
Nice little bar.
M. L.
Top class pub and staff. Very good service.
S. m.
Popped in for breakfast with son, thoroughly enjoyable , nicely cooked and presented,Friendly staff
J. (.
A very standard wetherspoons, reasonably priced food and drink. However it can take a while to be served here and can get very busy.
C. W.
Apart from getting annoyed with the track and trace system and ordering from the app we had a pleasant drink
C. C.
Service was slow as staff were more interested in taking food orders and they ran out of some beers but the beer was well kept
C. O.
Food was okay took ages for dessert to come out when did ice-cream was melted
J. B.
The cleanest and quietest Spoons in Southampton
S. B.
Good food well cooked, good service, no complaints
C. G.
Good food although portions aren't massive
H. E.
Great atmosphere, good value, fab selection of beers as there was a beer festival on. Friendly staff
M. s.
Food was good and service was quick. Could do with being cleaned a bit quicker and looking a bit dated in places
T. T.
For a 'spoons, it is far less grubby compared to its city centre counterpart. Nice food. Good place to head to.
V. P.
One of the better weatherspoons in Southampton. Relaxed atmosphere, cheap food and drink and a different food deal everyday.
S. B.
Delicious! Classic burger & Foster's!
S. R.
Better than average Weatherspoons food, great staff, but a bit quiet and lacking atmosphere at times (but I like that and hate kids).
P. S.
Had a great evening in the pub with friends cheap beer good bar service be going back again
R. B.
Best spoons in the city! Friendly staff who treat it like a spoons, not a posh den
E. G.
A good Wetherspoons, we often go here after going into town as its not as busy or full of tramps and reprobates as the town center establishments.
H. H.

Classic Wetherspoon. Good location next to Ocean Village. Great for a coffee stop.
T. M.
Decent spoons, just poor if you are a large group as they don't have many big tables
B. G.
Relaxing atmosphere. High ceilings. Outside seating. Food can be hit and miss. Just had a very overdone chilli.
J. J.
