Outstanding Sunday roast in the most beautiful quaint pub! Can’t recommend it enough. Every bite on the plate was delicious and obviously made with love- from the gorgeous rare organic aged beef to the cauliflower cheese and all the trimmings it was delicious! The pub is in a pretty and peaceful village with a gorgeous beer garden to enjoy the sunshine. Tables are laid out with comfy cushions, and candle lit with a roaring open fire nearby. A must visit! oh and make sure you try the homemade scotch egg- to die for!!! Thank you to the staff and owners for such a warm welcome x

What an amazing traditional village pub. We left it late on a Saturday to find somewhere for lunch, gave them a call out of the blue and they were able to fit us in with a bit of rejigging. The staff could not have been more helpful once we’d arrived, and the locals were super friendly. Food was great, beer was perfect - it was everything we needed. Thank you once again for being so accommodating!!

We went over this evening. Great fun ! No electricity on after the storm. Everyone just got on with having a few beers no lights and candles everywhere! A few 🧙♀️ in the premises. A nice evening and thanks to Nicki Reece and the staff. Good on you 👏. Mike and Jennifer

Can not praise this pub highly enough.
Amazing food, great staff and dog friendly.
Perfect in the summer or winter. One of the best pubs in Hampshire
A. C.
I have just visited this wonderful pub for Sunday lunch with a group of friends. The food was fantastic but was eclipsed by the lovely warm welcome from all the staff.
C. P.
An absolute delight! Great atmosphere, amazing food, friendly people - you could not want for more. Just wished we were able to stay for longer!
P. B.
Found this gem with a Google of gastro pubs near me. It has masses of country pub character, a nice selection of local ales, a small but excellently delivered menu and exceptional friendly people!
S. J.
Lovely country pub with the most amazing food! I recently stayed in the area and so glad we chose to have dinner here. Very friendly and welcoming staff.
M. W.
Fabulous little country pub, not much parking so good walkers destination. Always excellent food & service.
J. W.
Very pleasant helpful staff, very welcoming and friendly. Excellent food, freshly cooked and plenty of it. Beautiful setting. Definitely recommend.

What a wonderful place for a Sunday lunch! We had a very positive experience from the beginning, with the landlady very kindly squeezing us in at the end of the lunch sitting. The service was excellent and the roast lamb was one of the best I've had in a pub. We also had a very grumpy baby with us and they couldn't have been more understanding and welcoming in spite of that. Thank you so much for a great meal, we really enjoyed ourselves!
N. P.
My second visit & as welcoming as the first. Food is excellent, as is the service from all the staff. Would highly recommend a visit
K. W.
Such a lovely friendly pub. Can't wait to go back and stay longer . Menu looks great, haven't tried it yet. But definitely will x
P. H.
Friendly staff and lots of outside space. Perfect for a sunny day with cosy inside spots for cooler times. Plenty of ales to try. Recommended.
P. S.
Pre-wedding drinks in an inviting local village pub. Kids were made welcome.
A. F.
Excellent food, top quality as was the service. Highly recommend this traditional country pub with a small but diverse menu. Not your basic pub grub but more a quality restaurant.
N. E.
The best Sunday roast I've ever had. Lovely hosts, they couldn't do enough for us. Roast Lamb highly recommended.
M. B.
Spent a lovely couple of hours in their pub garden yesterday. Staff very friendly and helpful. Other customers were also friendly. Looking to have Sunday lunch their soon. MB
R. A.
Lovely quaint country pub which is obviously very popular. The rear garden is a lovely spot for a couple of pints in the evening or lunchtime sunshine and internally it is small but cosy. Good local real ale. I didn't eat. Occasional live music during 'normal' times
B. D.
Visited recently, very nice food and the staff were friendly. A countryside area with lots of fresh air. This is very much a dog owners pub, dogs run freely throughout the pub and garden. Several strange dogs hovered around and underneath our table when we were eating. If you are a dog lover, you might really like this, but if you are not, take heed. My view is a good compromise would be all dogs must be kept on leads at all times.
K. B.
One of my favourite pubs, staff really welcoming and dog friendly
S. T.
Great quality food, atmosphere and service but with prices to match. Parking can also be problematic given the location. Portions are sensible and children's options available. The wood fires and comfy seats make it a fantastic place to while away a few hours. Good selection of beers too.
L. B.
Lovely pub, beer extremely well kept. As a vegetarian I felt the menu was lacking in choice, the only veggie options were chips or a beetroot salad in a large menu of 20 items. The chips I had were lovely, wouldn't eat here again unless menu improved but would definitely return for drinks
A.
First time visited, loved it. Quite difficult to find but well worth the effort. Very friendly place.

Best Pub Sunday lunch I've had in years.
Staff couldn't have been friendlier or more welcoming and didn't even mind us coming in filthy from mountain biking. Meat was perfectly cooked, excellent selection of veg, gravy and Yorkshire pud were both spot on. Had to wait a while for food, but more than worth it. Thank you.
M. F.
Best roast I’ve ever had incredible food
C. F.
Lovely local pub friendly for dog owners, with a selection of local brews. Not much parking outside but it's in a beautiful area so parking a short distance and having a walk through the village is a grear idea. Always kept clean and the pub food is rarely below amazing
D. W.
Wonderful, awesome food and coping pretty well with the CV19 situation. Unfortunately, the room we were in was absolutely freezing cold. Unbearably so. That took away from the experience, and realistically, I wouldn’t go back at the minute unless we were assured a warmer table.
D. C.
A big thank you to the landlady who rustled up a delicious bacon bap and coffee for three hungry cyclists.
We will definitely return with some more club members and stop for lunch.

Delicious home cooked food, with some amazing flavours & combinations, tastes fresh straight off one of the local farms - definitely a local jewel! Topped off with great service and being dog friendly, we can't wait to eat here again! Don't worry - there is more parking further down next to the pond if the street in front is already full.
L. C.
It is partly gastro pub, partly good old pub grub. Lovely atmosphere, exceptionally good service by a young waiter. Serves Goodens Gold, which made hubby happy, and had decent wines
R. H.
We booked the 'potting shed' for a meal out. A lovely private room within the very pretty garden. Tasty food, great service and happy to cater for children. Thoroughly recommend.
O. W. C.
Yes very well kept ales, and fine ciders. The food is superior to others in the area. Wonderful landlady. Very friendly staff. All in all top 2 pub in area.
H. M.
This is a great country pub down a small country lane. Beautiful garden area to enjoy a drink and a meal. Inside is cosy with a real fire burning in the winter months. The food is good and not overpriced.
T. S.
Amazing lil cottage pub. A warm atmosphere all round. And the workers and owners always greet u with a heart warming smile. Definitely recommend it to anyone who enjoys a pint or drink.
C. G.
Great little country pub and exceptional and imaginative menu. Really welcoming landlady too. Well worth a visit!

It's another very traditional rural country pub, with much history, very old!in the very quiet little village of Lower Upham,it's a very quaint quirky little pub, that serves excellent food & very friendly,it's very popular, but quite small so always advisable to book table! Very cosy & warm with fire!oak beams it's in a very quiet small lane, just past pretty Upham Church, which is built on traditional flint stone!this area is a very rural farming community! Ideal for lunch or evening meals but always book tables,if possible in advance because it's so popular with locals & from further afield!
N. C.
Great country pub & good food .Lovely fires burnimg too
R. I.
Old style pub with cosy nooks and open fireplace. The sunday food is out of this world. The lamb was tender and the vegetables with just the right amount of bite. Some good beers and cheer too
A. S.
Lovely quaint traditional pub with great service, food and drinks
R. B.
Good local pub with excellent beer. Cosy atmosphere and very welcoming. I was there at the same time as a very friendly shooting party popped in for a quick pint which added to the atmosphere!!

T. W.
A really nice place in a beautiful village. A proper country pub.
S. E.
It's hard to find a truly authentic village pub these days - especially one with excellent food. The Brushmakers Arms is a gem. Set in the heart of the picturesque village of Upham, it is steeped in history, frequented by locals and offering a welcome atmosphere (oh and great beer).
M. R.
Fantastic Sunday lunch. Staff were very friendly and attentive, food was absolutely delicious. Lovely pub.
G. T.
Lively, friendly, good food, English country pub that attracts locals and visitors alike. Good dog walking area and everyone welcome, 2 or 4 legs.
M. F.
Friendly staff, very helpful. They have done their best to make it very welcoming despite the covid restrictions. Excellent food.
R. W.
I felt the place had gone downhill since my last visit. Fewer ales on tap and a limited, costly menu and the food when it arrived was adequate but not exceptional - which I'd expected given the premium.
N. P.
Lovely pub. Very friendly. Excellent good value food. Well kept beer. Dog and walker friendly
J. H.

Great local country pub. Somewhere on the way to gastro but without the pretence. Honest good food, locally sourced, prepared with care and flair.
M. C.
Nice little quaint pub. No Sauvignon or Gordon's. And don't go for food on a Monday as they don't do food on Monday. Otherwise ok.
P. J.
It was cosy and rustic. Went on a Friday which was fairly busy but quietened down as the evening went on. Really lovely food with very friendly service.
