A proper pub with welcoming friendly "local" atmosphere. Thankfully not your usual mainstream chain pub. Being a craft bar there's always varied selection of great ales from local and further a field micro-breweries; plus regular wines and spirits. Top landlord & landlady and always helpful, tentative staff. A real local gem!

Really nice pub with a great selection of beers; friendly and welcoming staff; cosy venue. Really happy to have gone in to sample an ale, it ended up being more than two though - they were delicious! Well worth a visit.

Friendly little craft beer pub. Nice to have something like this in the local area, rather than the mostly chain pubs. Prices vary depending on what you go for, there are some very pricey options on the beer menu, more lots of more affordable choices too. They have a good selection of spirits behind the bar for non beer drinkers. As a side note a well stocked ladies loo is always a good sign that a business cares about the customer experience, and this place delivers on that too!

Excellent venue. Great selection of cask and craft beers. Very convivial and knowledgable hosts (Graham & his lovely wife) on beer AND music. Oh and BTW made the station by 1700!! (6 mins -it is mostly downhill LOL). Will see if I can include you on a Soton area crawl for the "beerdo's" group at some point. Keep up the good work.

What a delightfully friendly atmosphere captured in the heart of Park Gate. Run by a lovely couple who welcome all with equal enthusiasm and warmth, the Gate has become a popular haunt for many. A range of good quality ales as well as an interesting collection of Gins and some sumptuous wines too - the Gate is only a small conversion from a shop in the "high street" but it delivers on all things that matter. We're not really pub people so The Gate really us a refreshing change. Try it, you'll like it. We certainly do.

A decent Pint 🍺 had some interesting beers, visited with friends & had a nice time, very popular with local people always a good sign, half way down the High Street in Parkgate, Easy Walking to & from Locksheath, Recommended.

A little gem of Park Gate. Fantastic beers that are all kept well. The team are amazing and the owner is an amazing guy who supports the community and local charities. There are plenty of things to keep you entertained in The Gate, Bar Games, Locals (Who are all to happy to chat with you), Locals with Dogs, The Team are also there to chat with as well and always more than happy to chat between looking after customers. Its a well stocked bar with a really cool atmosphere. nothing like a general pub at all, much nicer and much better atmosphere. I could write loads about this venue and the team but the only way to experience it is to visit. Drop in, Buy a beer, Enjoy the atmosphere.

Parkgate's first Micropub, the Gate, features 3 hand pulls for cask ale and I think 8 keg lines. A fridge is full of soft drinks, bottled beer and other non-beer type things, there is also Wine available. Some brilliant craft beers from in and around Hampshire and there are mainstream ciders and lagers available. Like all new Micropubs, the paint is still wet on the walls, so its character and soul hasn't been carved yet. It is quite big for a micropub - probably around 40-50 customers could easily be accommodated. In spitting distance of a train station, right near a load of offices, no decent craft beer competition, close by fish and chips, no music and a friendly atmosphere will hopefully see the Gate prosper!
