Reviews of The Juniper Berry
First time, I ever walked in the pub was last week.. Guy singing ( Russ) was awesome! The bar staff were also awesome. Not busy, but was a Thursday after all. And never having seen me before made me feel very welcome indeed. And will hopefully be going back there on a regular basis. As a female who isn't keen on pub ing on my own? Safe I'd a word I would.use for this place.
One worker was rude
Solid pub with a pool table.
Great place with friendly peoples.
Friendly and welcoming pub
GREAT BEER. Nice Spot to be.
Good old fashioned pub
Very pleasant. Friendly.
Great place to stay
Good Place for staying
Good old pub
Cheers from Southampton! Very cozy pub. Hans from Austria.
A very lovely location.
Great old boozer
Nice and clean.
Cool

Very nice but simple hotel. Centrally located. You should look for a parking space in one of the surrounding parking garages. Downtown, restaurants and water within walking distance. The room was clean. We didn't notice much from the staff. A bit noisy. We were satisfied. No breakfast. Card payment possible.
An ancient, cozy place (pub with overnight stay) in a top location in Southampton. Nearby: ultra-modern shopping and entertainment centers and the football stadium.
Nice guesthouse, the family room is big enough. Nice on-site pub. Breakfast possible in the area.
Acceptable. There is no reception, you can't see the staff, it doesn't have a main entrance, it has a rowdy bar at night, small room.
Seeing, in this pub, the penalties in a match where England put their place in the quarter-final, it was “just amazing”
Very basic but lovely drinks
Quaint and cozy pub!
very characteristic
Amazing room and location, the only disappointment was the pub doesn't serve food! The walls are a bit thin so be prepared to hear the bar below until 11pm, and potentially a snoring neighbour in the next room. But the room was very clean, bright and spacious. Location was perfect and the locals were so helpful!
No frills, friendly boozer, with good beer.
Stayed here last night as I had an early coach. Room spotless, beds comfy (I have 3 hernias so usually struggle getting comfortable with hotel beds) and staff very friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay here again.
Used to drink there 40 years ago. It's changed a bit, went there for a few drinks with friends, good evening, will be going back.
Lovely Quite Place with outdoor seating. Was nice to have a drink in the sun without being on the (way too) busy main high street. This pub is a little gem. Lots of room inside too. A good variety of drinks. Pool table. Clean toilets. What more could you need?. It even has a function room that can be hired. Good to know! I do recommend this pub.
Great local pub with really friendly clientele and bar staff
Highly recommend
We stayed here for one night.
We was made to feel at home.
Had a few pints at the bar served by ella who i must say is a good laugh and prompt at serving no waiting about 👍🏻
Room was very clean and tidy the beds ate also comfortable.
We were very impressed for the money spot on A++++
Friendly lively pub, will visit again
Nice place to stay and very convenient. They have a bar underneath and they are also right beside a large shopping mall. You can also park in front of it or they have complimentary parking in the back of hotel (limited spots)
Lovely cosy pub with great staff and management. Well priced for the location, can buy cheaper locally, but not the same atmosphere. Very pleased and will call back again..
Old English Pub with lots of atmosphere & charm.
Great pub , atmosphere was excellent, definitely worth a visit if you like a drinking pub rather than somewhere to eat. Staff were very helpful and made us feel welcome
I just took a picture on it when I was walking around in Southampton. Just knew it is a pub when I google it. Didn't have a chance to walk in.
Bringing the children to peppa pig world but could not find a hotel for less than a few hundered that had a family room, then we found this place great value and a stones throw from the port and westkey shopping centre with loads of restaurants bowling and cinema.Staff at the Juniper where very helpful there are around 3 council parking spaces outside we parkes in overnight for a few pounds but also plenty of other car parks nearby checkout justpark.co.uk to locate them. Room has a double bed and bunk beds nothing fancy but im not after fancy i want a good location and a good price when going as a family this does the trick.
Lovely on the outside, was expecting a bit nicer inside. Place looks a bit rough on the inside, including some of the regulars.
Cracking pub, very friendly staff
Historic pub just outside of the shopping complex. Friendly welcome from staff. Pool table as well. No food served which is a shame.
Still a pub of character with echoes of its past as a seafarers pub.
Stayed in rooms there several times always clean an tidy
Nice friendly landlord and bar staff
Would have been 5 🌟s, but loses 1 🌟 as Thay have just removed the pool table 😔
Nice little pub, luckily we arrived on free pool day so that was a bonus
Very welcoming and friendly, great place for price. Good location. Beds were uncomfortable though and i could feel the springs.
Cool local pub, friendly staff
This is a great old Southampton pub located on the old walls. It has a very interesting history and it deserves a visit either as a local pub user or a tourist to the city
One of the last old school pubs , haven't been in for over 30 years , had a nice couple of pints and the fire was on , will return , try not to leave it 30yrs

Came across the Juniper Berry by chance Friday night whilst visiting Southampton and so glad we did. Great friendly welcome and had a fun night listening and then even dancing to good music. Thank you Juniper staff for such a night to remember when I go back to Portugal
Located near the wall with alot of nice pubs in proximity very good place to meet for a pub crawl friendly atmosphere and staff
Last time l was here was in 1979 and do you know what, it is different but still a good pub, plenty of character and comfatable.
Nice enough little hotel with a decent history, inside the old walls of the Southampton castle. Would be improved with a bistro
Great locals bar , catered really well with the social distancing
Ok, but loud music at 5pm, why ?
I went here for my uncles wake. They put on a good spread. It was good. I visited many times in the past. Always a good service.
If you like hotels in old building you can try, but beds are uncomfortable, and no aircondition, so it's your own risk...
Rented the function room for our wedding reception. Very helpful staff which helped make the day. Thanks.
Cosy characterful pub with wood panels and Older World feel. No food. One mediocre cask ale.
great building.. cold rooms... but beautiful.
nice and very helpful staff
Nice staff, good fun, but place in general would benefit from a deep clean, especially the toilets.

This place has an interesting history. I'm 66 now and when I was a boy I used to hear that strange things used to go on here.
