Reviews of The Standing Order - JD Wetherspoon
A. B.
I mean it's wetherspoons. What can you expect. The food is edible. It won't fill you up and it won't be visually appealing. But it's cheap.
Booze is great and cheap. As long as you don't like quality and craft beer.
Its basically what you should expect from a wetherspoons. But not an experience I would expect from any other venue.
Staff were great. Hi5 them
S. K.
The food is very cheep here and good i wouldn't say its the best but for the value of money it makes for a good night out, i serjest purple rain cocktail, my boyfriend who doesn't drink mind you also quite liked the drink
K. W.
A Managers speacial empire state burger 🍔 this was pretty good and came with chips 🍟 and onion rings pretty good for 4.99. Double cheese burger tasted good.
H. &. Z. L.
What a place to dine in for drinks and more! Simply fantastic. Silently loud ! Sepia blended interiors! And great crowd ! So spacious and large ! We had fun love at first sight with this haven! The drinks 🍺, the 🥘 and the ambience were syncing so well. Their cocktails are huge.
Absolutely recommended for all ages! Economic as well. Just lived their pizzas and small eats! Sharing a few pics when I was still conscious to take one… 😄
J. T.
Had breakfast here 4 days running as close to hotel and you can get free coffee refills. Good variety of breakfasts available . I had the freedom breakfast under 500 calories for £4.05. Latte was £1.20.
My only issue was sometimes the food was not hot, so check. Staff happy to heat up.
P. C.
First time in a 'spoons'
Despite what I think of the guy who thought up this franchise, there's no doubt it's a good place for cheap food and drink.
This place is HUGE!
We were served quickly by very friendly staff.
Food was made well and there's a good selection of beers.
H. H.
Great food and the staff were extremely helpful. We had steak and it was cooked the way we wanted. Very reasonable price and free pint. What more can you want 😉
J. W.
We've just had lunch which was very nice. Matt who works there was very helpful when my son needed a tub to take his food home. He is a credit to your company and very friendly
S. P.
Good, but very busy when we visited. Down side was its the only Wetherspoons I have visited with terrible smelly and in rough state, and bad repair toilets, usually they are of a good standard, people were all complaining how awful they were.
J. D.
Cheap and cheerful. Clean and tidy. Went in for a quick drink and met our needs . It was very busy and there were a number of dirty tables
A. S.
Excellent local pub, great location, food was great, affordable pricing. Curry night club is very well recommended. Always busy and crowded, can be a little rough in evenings, however you get the local spirit and athmosphere in there. Self service for beer and food. Enjoy Southampton
R. T. U. S. S.
Can't go wrong with wetherspoons, even though I ordered the char grilled half chicken and got a boiled half chicken and broth instead, it was still yummy and the atmosphere in the pub is always festive. Give it a try
G. E.
What more can you say excellent beer excellent price. Sat out the front beware of the cafe barriers when it's windy thr bottom fixings are not fixed.
S. H.
Lovely pub and. The people hwre are so warm and welcoming
Had a steak that was cooked to perfection lovely pint of stella too
G. M.
Use this one a lot. It's always been consistently good. Not this time. Steaks not cooked right and chewy. Most of the meal was cold. Manager took them away and was helpful but they came back over cooked and disappointing. The whole place looked like it needed a good clean too. Bar staff very good though.
M. M.
Great atmosphere, delicious food, and friendly people. The steak and kidney pie is not to be missed (doesn't it look incredible? I just finished eating it and still the picture makes my mouth water), and their meal deals are a great value
S. C.
'It does exactly what it says on the tin'. The greatest experience of this watering hole is that the toilets are located on the ground floor and not the 12th floor.
M. M.
We have visited here a number of times when in Southampton. On this occasion it was the least busy we have seen it, but the Christmas Market was on.
As with all Wetherspoons you know what to expect. Fair priced drinks, reasonable quality food and all served as quickly as they can get it to you.
T. D.
In principle I come here to taste different Ales as they change constantly and some of them would be difficult to find. I have to admit that they are pretty good and considering you can try before you buy I am never disappointed.
M. F.
Typical Witherspoon, with very good low prices. We always look out for these pubs whatever town/city we visit.
C. D.
Not much to sing home about apart from the fact that it's a well sized city centre Whetherspoons pub. Pleasant staf, afford able grub. Overall cleanliness and Toilets could be better.
P. B.
Tables could of been cleaned when cleared🙄 ordered on the app, drinks a bit slow being brought over. One of the better meals I have had recently from a couple of wetherspoons 👏👏
I. V. R.
Big pub, fairly busy most of the time but it is great. I quite like it
L. J. G. (. G.
Nice place. Great customer service. Food was great and served quickly.
J. H.
Spacious compared to other Wetherspoons in Southampton, specifically Giddy Bridge. Friendly and helpful staff, house floor clean but the toilets need some TLC. Busy as always, but it’s Wetherspoons so it’s bound to always be occupied.
A. W. S.
Amazing quick service. Just little bit of deep cleaning on the tables would be greatly appreciated.
G. F.
Security was rude, particularly the female security guard....
I. A.
That feeling of eyes on you when you walk in, but the service was quick and the staff were nice....
J. B.
Great service, happy staff, hot food, no complaints at all.
Keep up the good work 👏 👍
C. D.
We had good food and well priced drinks. A pleasant experience.
D. K.
Nice place, good food en excellent Guinness. Lots of draught beer. Nice prices
K. C.
Good old pub, always coming back there when I'm in town
N. W.
We just went in for cup of coffee but staff friendly and helpful and it wasn't very busy, plenty of seats!!
V. G.
Very large pub but the service was very good tables cleared quickly overall a pleasant visit
K. W.
Let's be honest a spoons has a certain stereotype. But I must say the prices are reasonable, the service friendly and there was nothing wrong with our visit.
E. M.
Cheaper than any other pubs and good breakfast !buy 1 coffee then unlimited
H. A.
Atmosphere is great and it has large areas. The food is delicious with good price. The place is not a cafe so don’t expect a great coffee, although if there is a barista it would be my dream place!
S. “. P.
2 pints, a beer and a cider for less than £6 in a city centre pub? That's unheard of. Who cares if the floor is sticky!! Cheaper than my local!!
M. S.
Great staff and nice place to sit outsde and have something to eat and drink.
L. J.
Had an unexpected stay in Southampton due to ship sailing a day late. Went into wetherpoons and is was heaving, managed to find the last empty table and thought we would have a long wait for food. Wrong. The food and drinks arrived very quickly. Hot and tasty too. Just what two weary travellers from up north needed. The staff looked like they where run ragged but still smiling. Don't know how they managed it. Think we might pop in for our breakfast too.
A. G.
Could do with more choices for lunch, breakfast was ok could have been better
M. K.
A nice, friendly pub which gets very busy on a Friday and Saturday night but although it's very busy at the front, bar area, there are usually tables at the back of the pub. Good prices, could do with new furniture and a small refurbishment but a good place to meet and socialise at the quieter end of the QE2 Mile
R. M.
Definitely one of the less creepy spoons we've been to, good selection of tables both in the open & also some with dividers for those wanting privacy
S. “. M.
Had a nice meal. Nice friendly atmosphere and good food
K. M.
Cheap and cheerful like you would expect a weatherspoons to be. Foods fine, craft ales are interesting and staff are friendly. The only faults are that the furniture is old and shabby and it's common for the toilets to be a mess. I've been there a few times when fights have started so I wouldn't recommend this spoons as family friendly. Staff were quick and efficient getting rid of the troublemakers though.
A. S.
Nice place for a quick drink, everything you expect from a weather spoons
D. L.
Love this pub. Its always some where we visit each time we travel into Southampton. Always greeted with a smile and nothing is ever too much for them. The food is always hot and presented well. We rate the Standing Order with Five Stars. Thank you for welcoming us as you always do.
P. A.
Great pub very clean with nice staff. The food was good too.
M. R.
Very Nice pub. Friendly people excellent prices a major plus. Will be back
G. B.
Large and busy Spoon's. There is a constant buzz, like life just humming along.
N. b. s.
Food was fresh and hot, but need to wait for minimum 30min.
C. 2.
It's another decent weatherspoons. Good service. Good food.
P. E.
Had a great plate of food here yesterday. Service excellent. Well done Standing Order
K. S.
Tried some different ales. Cheap and good place for drink and food.
m. b.
Absolutely love this place! Been a while since I was in here but was really worth it to be back. Went with the wife and our best mate Dan! 😊 Had a great time, plenty of spaces available, great menu and a drinks menu to match it!. To order any food just download the weatherspoons app, and follow the instructions, you'll need the table number, order your food, then wait for it to come! Atmosphere is alive and people chatting and having a great time. Disabled friendly, plenty of space to get around, helpful staff and extremely clean and tidy! 5*✔️😊
M. C.
Great pub staff always friendly and attentive great service
S.
All good...staff, beer and food all good...big thumbs up!!
D. L.
Staff is always friendly, and service is quite quick!
D.
Nice central pub serving good beers and gin and great food excellent value for money plus friendly staff with great service
G. R.
Amazing food excellent service n nice old rustic place
S. C.
I've frequented many a wetherspoon over the years on my travels. This year alone probably 10/15 all in all, in various parts of the country. This one was nice, located on a small highstreet but wasn't absolutely packed on a Sunday morning. We had breakfast which is standard wetherspoons prices and came hot and quick. The only downside is that rather than bottles of sauce they have sachets, which NEVER open, but this is Covids fault and not the staff here, who were all lovely.
C. S.
Typical pub food...good atmosphere, popular and busy.
m. b.
Good location, great place to meet up with friends.
J. T.
Popped in for hot drink & cake. Experience spoiled today by 2 rowdy drunken youths sitting near entrance shouting out vile language. In fairness to young barmaid she did ask them to stop & they did briefly. I was relieved when to they left.
L. 2.
Nice food, great staff and clean area. Would recommend
J. L. P.
If you want a cheap meal then we all know Whetherspoons is the place. Tired decor but staff very polite. Jacket potato excellent! 3 stars because this place really needs a make over... Chairs ripped, carpet, well who knows what it was when it was new. But couldn't fault the service
d. c.
Everything you expect from a Wetherspoons. Busy bar with a good atmosphere.
M. A.
Nice food and quick service.
T. G. B.
A weatherspoons pub staff friendly enough but slow service at the bar need more staff behind the bar Friday night and weekends
D. R.
Whilst visiting this Wetherspoons pub, the drinks and food on offer is what one would expect except that they had run out of Chocolate Sprinkles for Coffee and Decaffeinated Tea Bags. This may seem like small minor niggles but this branch does need fine tuning their JIT ordering.
Also, the state of the toilets is not befitting this establishment and although the toilets are checked regularly the furniture in the bathroom seriously needs updating and cleaning regularly.
Perhaps management should visit the Moon in the Square to see how it should be done.
A. V.
It's a typical Wetherspoons. Cheap drinks, pub decor and quick service
K. F.
Nobody ever tells you about the institution that is J.D. Weatherspoons pubs in England. THEY'RE BLOODY EVERYWHERE. This was my first experience and I guess I understand why now. Food is glaringly average, but insanely affordable, as are the drinks. Closest thing in the states would probably be an Applebee's.
Z. C. Z.
Beers bottles shots whatever you tipples it's bound to be here. Inside or out are available like tea coffee., With free top ups. Food I don't know if they serve as I haven't eaten here yet. Polite well spoken staff dressed smartly always appear. They will pass the time of day with you too. Cash or card are a great and easy way of payment.
E. M.
Good priced food and drink. Always busy.
M. L.
Nothing spectacular, but reliable and reasonably priced food and drink
S. T.
Food wise probably actually definately the best wetherspoons I've ever been to (and I've been to many) food was hot well presented and cooked to perfection not swimming in grease either which was a bonus. Friendly staff and reasonable waiting times considering the place was heaving.
F. D.
Nice spoons. Not bad selection of drinks and food is really good for the price and deals available
a. w.
Great atmosphere, good food, fast service
L. C. A.
I got drunk and made an idiot of myself first rate wetherspoons experience.
L. G.
A very good example of a wetherspoons nice and friendly and offers reasonably priced beer and food .
I particularly like the breakfasts
J. J.
Nice place and food
P. R.
Lasagne & chips excellent plus ➕ free pint. Busy popular pub. Recommended
B. B.
Me, my sister & my sister-in-law had a great dinner over there. Great food, great puddings & kind employees. Can't wait to dine there again.
S. R.
Work for the cruise industry and whenever we dock in Southampton, I try and get off and go here or another pub for a quick tasty of home. Nice curried chips and nice pint as well.
M. R.
Tasty food fast and cheap! What else do you want? The place is big enough to find a quiet table.
P. W.
Slow service need more staff but cheap drinks
P. S.
Food is always cold ,they need a plate warmer . The tables , carpet .sides of seating is just filthy .needs sorting .I've been in lots of wetherspoons pubs . Southampton is the winner for unclean
J. M.
Food good as ever but called in today and it was filthy. Tables, chairs, windowsills, anything below eye level. Cleaned my own area....
K. P.
Nice frienfly warm welcoming staff / good service & a good place to eat / drink & meet with friends x
l. s.
Cheap as it always was 😁
Wouldn't expect Michelin stars dishes or drinks but it does the job
N. W.
Cheap and cheerful. Had some great wing.
s. e.
It's good pub grub. The staff are great and quick service.Would like to make a very special msg of the young tall manager (I think his name is Jake)for the diplomatic way he handled a rather nasty customer who was shouting that he wanted his money back..he had eaten his meal...
N. W.
large breakfast is always good but the place is quite run down and our table wasn't cleaned and sticky. the lights were off in the toilet so had to use my phone torch.
E. S.
Great if you like a pub with atmosphere.
S. M.
A typical Wetherspoons. Good choice of beer, sold for a lot less than in other pubs. The beer snobs may not like it, but the truth is the average bloke can have a few jars and not spend much. And the food isn't bad either. If your a non-smoker, stay inside. If you go into the little outside area for the smokers, you'll know what a catalytic converter goes through in its' life.
A. A.
Busiest Spoons have ever been to! Staff remained happy & helpful. Even our food was efficiently delivered.
J. L.
Great service and Fab food at rock bottom prices! Pizza was wow!
M. T.
Standard Wetherspoons fayre and prices. All done nicely and in a bustling city centre setting, you could do a lot worse.
s. l.
Another weatherspoons what can one say !!!! The staff were however on the ball and efficient
a. D.
Very very rowdy.
Good value for money
S. R.
Not my regular of the wetherspoons, I normally go to Giddy Bridge but as I was in this area of town, I thought I would check it out with my nephew and his girlfriend.
The staff were friendly and helpful. Service was quick, considering it was evening time. The pitcher cocktail drinks were prepared nicely and full of flavour. The halloumi fries were served hot and crisp and served with a set chilli dip.
It could do with better internal lights as some areas were poorly lit and seemed dark.
J. H.
Love in here good vibes bargain food even get food and drinks bought to your table from people not even with you ended up with about 50 packets of biscuits
E. C.
Breakfast served cold only thing that was warm was the hash browns
D. S.
Standing order is always great. Visited a few times and always liked the place. Drinks are cheap, foods great and always bustling with people.
E. P.
Price wise, still good value on Beer and Food. Sadly, the place is in need of refurbishment. Nice friendly staff
P. C.
The meal I had was really lovely and it was worth the money
f.
Busy pub, it was a home game, staff on point flying back and forth with orders. Nice burger at a reasonable price
D. C.
great pub great atmosphere especially on match days great staff aswell
A. L.
Huge, well priced breakfast. All tasty and service was fast and friendly. Place a little grubby but usual Wetherspoons fare.
9.
Large pub and busy when We visited. Ordered food and drinks via app. Fast service even when busy. Keen prices for beers , on my list of weatherspoons as must visit when need food and drinks.
J. W.
Lack of service quality among waiters/-tress. Nice dishes. Decent prices
C. L.
Maybe 3 star ratings disrespectful. More a typical high street pub than your comfortable local.
It does all that a wetherspoons does, just maybe that bit quicker.
I can't fault much in my short stay.
At least the toilets are on the same level in this wetherspoons.
I'd go back anytime.
Maskless, hopefully.
G.
It is popular for many senior mature people during the day and younger at night i stopped for a early brekie and pint fairly priced no argument there.for me i find strange how barman can bring me piping hot plate and yet the food on the plate is cold i can only imagine food has been sat around before it is served on to the hot plates wnt be bk for brekie again but the beer made up for the trashy brekie to be washed down with
J. B.
Enjoyable drink and conversation with some random chap, like you do..
C. C.
We went late afternoon. Good service. Got really busy around 5 onwards. All toilets on ground floor!
J. W.
Sensible branch of spoons, just about the same as anywhere else you would go. Nice and big, lots of comfortable booths where 4-6 of you can sit. Staff are not against moving tables together to accommodate larger groups. Service from the app is slow at best, your food will almost definitely turn up before your drinks but there are plenty of bar staff working and after a short wait you can get them at the bar instead. Staff are friendly.
J. H.
It was a good afternoon in the standing order, drinks very resonanably priced.
R. B.
It was buzzing on Saturday night (15th Jan). Young crowd and cheap drinks.
s. m.
Very busy town centre pub, due to covid 19, we had to order from the app.
Efficient system but means no real interaction with the staff. But the staff we did see although rushed were still polite. Food was what you expect good value and decent.
R. B.
Had a full breakfast and coffee enjoyed very much it's my treat , ones or twice a month it is friendly
T.
Great place only had a coffee but at under £2 for unlimited free refills its my go to place ☆☆☆☆☆
J. L.
The prices are incredible. Not need to count your money, just getting whatever you want.Would enjoy some light music though, cause its gets full,to hear bit of a music instead of so many people talking at the same time. Definitely one of the spots to hang out daily
M. B.
There's usually plenty of staff so not too much waiting at the bar, tables cleaned relatively quick and prices are good.
C. W.
Had a meal at lunchtime and great service xx
s.
Great quick service and food I'd Great
A. W.
Great pub close to city centre good staff nice pint and best food ever had in wetherspoons
S. R.
Nice place for a pint and a bite to eat.
B. B.
A nice busy buzzy place.
G. J.
Very busy ,which tells you how popular this place is.clean tidy and spacious.perfect for food and beers at a gr8 price
p. r.
I am at the standing order. Can't say enough. Interacted with Tom.martha & jake absolutely fantastic staff Tom goes out of his way with the meet and greet.martha polite and attentive.and jake superb. Food piping hot.my best experience in a weatherspoon pub.keep it up.👍
G. H.
Had evening meal and then breakfast before a UK seacation cruise. Both good although they didn't have green tea.
J. A.
Very popular wetherspooons, with a really good selection of real ales. Toilets on the ground floor are a big help if one is getting on in age.
C. P.
Great value as you would expect from a Wetherspoons and good location. Pub is looking a bit tired now and could really do with a refurbishment.
j. m.
General weatherspoons, cheap drinks, toilets a mission away, little courtyard smoking area
T. Y.
Not the best quality pub but the best value around 2.15 for a pint of Ale and all the other drinks are super cheap.
The reason it is so cheap is because they buy the ale close to its expiration date, so becareful when choosing unpopular bears.
Food is tasty and good value, sadly the curry doesn't seem to agree with me.
J. H.
It's ok as expected for weatherspoons
R. P.
Very busy. But good service
R. P.
Good pub to use if going to football in Southampton.
E. B.
This is one of those restaurants where they make you order with your phone, which is a neat idea. However, for someone who hasn't been there before, it was a bit stressful having to find my meal on my phone and hope the order went through. I trust the place now though, and would go again if I'm in the area. The food was great, and there was a huge variety of what they offered. Highly recomend.
C. J.
Great food, staff were brilliantly helpful and entertaining. Clientele were easy on the eye, Would visit again.
J. S.
Always love this place went I go out, great atmosphere inside the pub and the food is decent on the side 👌
The staff is polite, nice and I'm always leaving happy 😉😊
T. l.
It is what it is. Great pub, great good, cheap prices.
M. B.
Great place to go for a drink especially if you are short of cash. Great offers and friendly staff. Safe controlled place to go during covid, bouncers on the door and another member of staff makes sure u sign in and takes u to your table. Oder by the app.
M. C.
Doombar £2.10 a pint 👏👍😀Love it
N. K.
Large whetherspoons, avoid when very busy on match days though
t. p.
The service was fast and friendly and the beer was cheap. The app used to order was the best I've used, easy and just worked, then the beer arrived about 5 seconds later.
S. A.
Very busy Saturday but food & drinks served promptly and great value as always
e. w.
We had a meal here always good then on our last day we had breakfast. Always look for wetherspoons pubs.
S. L.
This place cud do with deep clean tables always sticky Breakfast bland and only just warm .Giddy bridge up road cleaner and food better 🥺🤷
D. B.
Decent spoons, quick efficient table service. Drinks are cheap, and they have a lot of ales on tap. Foods typical pub grub but at a good price. Tables were a bit sticky, apart from that's its decent.
K. L.
Every Wetherspoons is a good place for good beer and food. Even the Standing Order meets this standard.
O. H.
Apart from ordering on the app (which has always existed at Wetherspoon pubs) there are not social distancing measures in place... The majority of tables don't have screens between them, the walking space in general is not big enough and the staff don't wear masks. Track and trace is in place but just stuffed in a cardboard box.
Food and value was great as usual for a Wetherspoon, and staff were polite and helpful.
S. W.
Great weather spoons pup, would be great with a beer garden but in the centre of town so understandably not! Nice toilets and cheap drinks so your evening is sorted. Food isn't too bad either!
m. n.
Good prices for food and drink
J. W.
Loved the food staff were very friendly and helpful
s. i.
Very good spoons good beer and service
S. T.
Nice socially distant breakfast taking it seriously, nice staff, and value for money.
J. K.
Cheap and cheerful, large facility, great place to go with friends, have a drink and not have to worry about breaking the bank.
The standing order is a simple pub, you get what’s advertised. Great value, good atmosphere. What more do you need?
C. L.
I love the Standing order especially before 1200 because of the eggs Benedict
D. G.
Good value. Lack of staff. Tables not cleared.
B. G.
Busy weather spoons, food and drinks as standard
N. S.
Very popular Weatherspoons pub on the High Street. Due to its location it is always busy and the bar staff always seem to remain polite. Each time I have visited I have managed to find seating even at peak times, I am usually impressed by the selection of ales but not so impressed with the limited menu nowadays. This pub is great for a quick drink and a chat and good basic food. I like the fact the toilets are downstairs at the back of the pub and not upstairs like so many pubs.
B. N.
I always have fast service here. Being a weatherspoon the food and drink are a very decent price. I have always found this place clean and friendly, including the staff. It's very big so inhale never had any trouble finding somewhere to sit. I have never been dissatisfied with the food. It's a fab place to go to if you want what you ask for with no bells and whistles, quick and friendly service.
I. A.
One of the best drinking establishments in Southampton. If you want a good cheap british pint and conversation on the positive impact Brexit will have on the UK with fellow Covid sceptical individuals then this is the drinking place for you. Beware as not all the menu items are cooked from scratch, freshly to order on site, I think I may have heard a microwave ping as my table was very near the kitchen.
S. B.
Great place, cheap food but good quality and drinks very reasonable price.
Non alcoholic drinks and alcohol
H. R.
Friendly helpful staff. Cheap and cheerful
M. C.
Standard Wetherspoons experience. Gets really busy.
S. G.
Visited in a Monday night, so it was not very busy. Usual Wetherspoons, basic but good value, and good selection of beers 😊
R. B.
This is my favourite weekend place in S'tton, missing so much and as soon as the lockdown opens, this is the first place to visit always, the staff, the atmosphere, the location, all very awesome, nothing can beat their drinks and nibbles, cant wait for them to open it again,,,if u looking for a place to relax, this is the one..
A.
Large, airy Weatherspoon's pub. Staff are friendly, good menu & decent prices. Although the pub's huge, you can still feel OK in a small group. Very close to the docs, plus all the shops so a very convenient location
F. R.
good to see staff taking the 6 people rule seriously. You can't enter the pub unless completed the track and trace form, iether on the NCS app or on paper. Good social distancing measures, with screens between tables and hand sanitizer stations.
The food was good, we got 3 sides for £11 (pizza, chicken nuggets and halloumi fries) and shared it between us, with an extra side of chips for £1.50.
Good for cheap drinks.
J. K.
Nice wetherspoons. Rather cold though as the smoking area was always open
B. D.
I enjoy going to the standing order as I find it's location easy to find and travel to and most of all the food is tip top and the prices and deals are great value, my favourite meal is the ribs coleslaw and chips at a mere £5.20!! Delicious and everyday they have a deal on like Thursday is the curry club etc so yes get down to the standing order and you won't be disappointed
N. W.
Great pub with lots of seating. Visited on 3 separate occasions and every time service was fast.
A. R.
Tables can be left not being cleared and sticky. Staff are ok.
P. H.
Friendly and an easy going atmosphere. App not too difficult to use. Good food and good beer at good prices. 👍👍
D. W.
Cheap booze good food friendly staff
E. B.
Standard Wetherspoons, great in that aspect. This particular branch advertised pizza (bunting and posters everywhere) but had no pizza as the machine was broken. Ordered a burger, which was firstly taken to the wrong table and when it finally arrived it was in no form stacked, rather thrown in a fan shape, with the cheese all on one side. My partners burger was stacked, with a stick, and our friends food was the usual great standard, and the tables, toilets etc where clean.
I. C.
Nice place good drink and quality grub
J. B.
A very traditional Pub. Friendly staff and they has an amazing promotion on a pint £1.99 Doombar I think in was and it was great.
N. W.
Pretty typical standard pub, just had a few drinks, great location tho
g. s.
Good food at a very good price
G. G.
Another Wetherspoons with a cheap good pint...
d. f.
Always a hangout place for the sailor folks.........cheers..
B. O.
Decent prices, good beer
D. E.
Typical Wetherspoons which is not necessarily a bad thing.
Also a very long pub but at least the toilets are ground floor.
A. W.
Great food and drinks at very reasonable prices and a relaxed atmosphere with friendly, efficient staff. When ordering food (don't forget your table number!) the service is normally quite quick and you can expect your meal to arrive at your table within about 15 minutes. They have a number of televisions mounted up on the walls which, at least on weekdays, are tuned to news channels with the sound off and the subtitles on. The bathroom facilities are generally clean and reasonably well maintained. There is a small outdoor seating area for people who want to smoke with outdoor heaters during the colder weather. There is plenty of seating inside but it does get crowded as it's such a popular place.
A. P.
Burgers is the reason I go there with £4.99 a burger chips and soft drink you can’t go wrong!
Very busy at times, staff quite slow last time I was there ( took me 10 min to place my order not waiting but actually taking my order) it might be due to lack of staff or new members. Hasn’t happened before. Overall is good cheap food and ok portions.
c. l.
Who doesn’t like a Weatherspoons! I just wish there were more of them around but they tend to be in busy locations and are often in beautiful old buildings such as retired banks. (hence the name of this branch!) Don’t forget to look up as there are ornate ceilings and features of interest. There are usually framed details somewhere with the history details.
Great value for money and consistent good quality meals and drinks sometimes on a savings deal. Calories and ingredients are helpful if on a weight loss diet. Vegans and vegetarians are catered for.
If you download the App and note your table number you can order without queuing at the bar which never fails to amuse me.
Try a real ale or craft beer with your meal and get money off with Real Ale Society tokens.
A very good experience. Portions are just right and the crockery is a lovely royal blue earthenware.
C. C.
The food was alright quality - came out in reasonable fashion. Although my girlfriend ordered a vegan breakfast and then discovered a small end of bacon sat on one of her grilled tomatoes. Luckily she isn't overly squeamish. Also the staff were very considerate about her veganism initially so is probably an unfortunate accident.
A. B.
Normal Spoons experience. Standard food but very good range of beers. Staff friendly.
j. H.
Steaks here a excellent, good value and quick service. Pub atmosphere, very busy at front but as you walk through lots more seating further in . Was nice surprise to get an excellent steak at such a reasonable price, will definitely visit again.
J. R.
Great food and very reasonable prices. The staff are extremely helpful and always on the move clearing tables and bringing orders. We have been to quite a few Wetherspoons and the staff here are the best by far. They should be commended!
A. F.
Food was delicious atmosphere was great
L. H.
Not a bad spoons outside seating at front and enclosed courtyard good selection of drinks food is always ok
S. B.
Classic English breakfast. A perfect way to start your day! Plus Lavazza coffee!
S. C.
Do not go if in a hurry. The bar staff have no eye contact. They just serve the customer closet to them. Do not know if they were regulars or not but the drinkers seemed to just get served whilst if you are waiting to order food they keep missing you. This is not the first time this has happened, infact we have walked out before.
I suggest that the staff look around more or introduce a food only till.
On the plus side the food was very good when we got it.
I. W.
Sat with friends drinking coffee for a couple of hours. Very cheap
B. R.
Typical english pub, very busy over the weekend, pub food, no booking was needed.
À. S.
Fantastic staff always accommodating however visited today 21st August, breakfast not the usual standard, in fact last few visits poor quality. It seems price is going up and you get less for your money. There is no issue with lunch or evening meals. Visited Dunfermline weatherspoons, breakfast cheaper plus black pudding as standard with traditional breakfast, £9.80 in Scotland £10.20 in England .
C. H.
A great breakfast spot, getting there early definitely is a quieter, more enjoyable experience. Food is always quick, large portions and tasty. And the refillable coffee is the best part: unlimited latte's, cappuccino's, teas.
L. J.
Who doesn't love a weatherspoons. A bit rowdy in the evenings but hasn't been too crowded, drinks and food are always up to standard.
D. P.
Breakfast not what it used to be. Fried eggs over cooked hash browns and mushroom under cooked.
P. F.
Very well kept and wide selection of house/guest beers. Let down by the food when I've eaten there a couple of times, surprising for a spoons. That being said we have always received quick and friendly service.
R. P.
Very nice Interior, Comfy Atmosphere, The Staff Are Friendly and Food was Amazing! Nice Warm Fires, Calm Music To Enjoy, Prices are Good. Overall, I highly Recommend
C. W.
Very nice food and drink and had a meal and breakfast two days
P. S.
Loud and bubbly. Great service.
R. J.
Loved everything about it food is amazing
N. M.
The Standing Order is part of the Weatherapoon company where it offers both a pub and a restaurant which I like very much. Also very family oriented. We only had coffee during this visit but still it is a relaxed atmosphere and very comfortable to be in.
N. E.
We had breakfast at the Standing Order, and it was the small breakfast 1egg, 1 hash brown Patty,1 sausage, bacon, baked beans, tomato, and half an avacodo with coffee or tea 4.20 💷 EA. Still could not eat it all. Very nice and clean.
M. A.
Much better than yer average spoons
J.
A pretty standard wetherspoons experience, table service via the app is definitely the quickest way to be served.
N. A.
If you want a cheap pint and meal, truly support an environment that has all classes of people, then this is okay. What you see is what you get. For the healthier diners there's some treats like a halloumi wrap and juices.
N. H.
A Wetherspoon's pub close to the centre of Southampton, so you know what to expect: A good selection of beers reasonably priced and a standard pub menu. It can get very busy lunchtime. Good place for lunch if you are shopping in Southampton.
F. S.
No frills, good value for money. No music so good for conversing. Older crowd mostly but popular with younger crowd for "warm-up drinks". Calorie counts on menu for all meals.
S. D.
Food hot and quick to be served, especially as a very busy Saturday lunch time. Downfall was a bunch of over excited 50 year olds talking overly loud at next table. Maybe they should have new batteries in the hearing aids 😂😂
E. B.
Friendly staff , clean , service can bit a but hit and miss as it gets very busy , good service nice food and drinks
F. L.
Been there for breakfast twice now, quite inconsistent. The waiting times were completely different for the same meal. But overall its okay if you can remember that it's a cheap breakfast from weatherspoons
S. A. B.
Ladies toilet on the ground floor unbelievable that you don't have to go on a trek up 6 flights of steps. Quite busy for Saturday breakfast with passengers waiting to get on cruise ships and football fans as Southampton were playing Manchester United at home. Usual Wetherspoon menu which took a while to serve due to how busy it was. Clean tables.
S.
Traditional Weatherspoons. We stayed locally for one night. We had our evening meal followed by real ales. Don't let anyone try to put you off from going here. We found it was busy with couples, families and groups.
C. D.
Average for a Wetherspoons, great choice of alcohol and obviously good value but probably not a place you'd want to spend the entire evening. Friendly and helpful staff with fast service. Gets a bit crazy on a Friday/Saturday night!
T. H.
Not to busy at lunchtime, Tina panni was lovely
A. A.
Just popped in for a pre-dinner drink while awaiting a table booking elsewhere.
Standard 'chain' pub, plenty of space inside, a good range of drinks, efficient service & easy ways to pay, so made it a worthwhile stop off.
J. G.
Standard spoons. It gets busy, but is fairly big inside.
J. W.
Breakfast here is good and staff very friendly and helpful will be returning ☺️
D. M.
Nice bar to start your night out in town, the beer in cheap, friendly and nice atmosphere.
P. A.
Weatherspoons always a good choice for really good food at exceptional prices. Would recommend.
L. B.
Went for birthday meal and all what we wanted they didn't have... Waited 20 mins to even be seen then further 10mins to take our order
N. L.
Typical Whetherspoons pub offering the budget chains' usual menu items. Yhe oub is large, but filled up very quickly (visited Saturday PM). Food was prepared quickly, and was to a decent standard, though felt slightly under-done. Drinks also appeared quickly. Overall a good pub to visit if youre in Southampton
I. F.
Just your standard wetherspoons pub. You want cheap quick food this is the place for you. Food does taste good for a spoons.
TSO is a great drink bar for anyone going to a event at St Mary's stadium.
Enjoy.
R. C.
For a Spoons, this boozer works. Place was rammed at 5 on a sat pm. But found a table, ate a pretty good dinner and drank Ringwood a finest ales whilst watching the Cup Final. Can't get better.
W. E.
I love this place
I usually only eat here but the breakfasts are great and cheap...always lovely and pleasant staff. And the coffee is actually better than most coffee shops.
Couldn’t recommend it enough...best of British !!!
G. R.
I do like Wetherspoon pubs, however this particular one hasn't caught up with many others in terms of interior improvements. On the other hand it does retain an older typical Wetherspoon feel which will no doubt appeal to some. Couldn't give it five stars as the breakfast options were limited compared to other pubs. But all in all The Standing Order delivers what you expect from this chain, without doing anything particularly good or bad.
G. S.
Very good fish and chips and good pint of cask ale..yeah it's spoons etc but I did drink a non national Beer
S. S.
A quite big pub in the centre of Southampton. It is a Wetherspoon chain and it offers a great selection of beers and spirits. The food is worth the money and you can get good deals. Nice atmosphere and always crowdy. Great for bigger groups, but also good for quieter meet ups.
I. M.
Great place, good food and cheap beer. Staff were excellent.
M. R.
Om6e of the Wetherspoons greats. I've had breakfasts, lunches, dinners, and many a night out at the Standing Order over the years, and the food drink and service have never let me down. It's only cheap like most Wetherspoons! Would recommend to anyone going out in Southampton, especially to start a night off.
T. F.
Bloody busy!!! Standard Wetherspoons fare on offer. Guess thats why its busy!
L. M.
Great place lovely food too
l. c.
Great place, large enough to accomidate large groups of people in the evenings so it's perfect for a works night out. Great during the day too food is good, competent chefs and it's a weatherspoons too, so very reasonable prices. (Ignore this just making sure I hit 200 characters for dem sweet local guide points)
c.
Great service, great organisation, great food. Only choice of table was next to the toilets! With a constant stream of people going past us, not great 🤷♀️
N. W.
Really good service via the app. Enjoyed my 8" pepperoni pizza with extra mozzarella
J. H.
Friendly staff and a nice atmosphere. Classic spoons
J. A.
Very popular pub, due to its cheap prices and now there's the app for table service, you can't go wrong. Well not until they bring the drinks and promptly spill them into your lap.
R. P.
We had brekkie, very reasonably priced, no complaints re the endless coffee mug. Well worth a visit, even for posh breakfast people.
s. i.
Very busy meals very basic
S. P.
Always packed when I go in. But considering it's cheap all round, I'm not surprised. Good atmosphere. Service is good. Beer is good!! Recommend
E. S.
Love the standing order. Love the Wetherspoons ordering app, love the meal deals. Now, it's no gourmet, but good food.
I thought I would give 4 stars, but I realised that the small parts that's not perfect, does not deserve to lose a star.
C. G.
I am fed up to the back teeth of the same false statement that comes out every year about spoons not allowing poppies around Remembrance day. The manager and staff of the Standing Order not only had poppies for sale but we're also wearing them and went out of their way this year when a local Southampton band called the BC Experiment asked if they could sing their song they wrote and raise money for Veterans. Well done all
p. j.
Lunch time girls .service terrible. Chat to each other .no respect to customers. Evening difrent .value for money food .the one London road .in Southampton far better.Toilets stink .more general cleaning needed. GUYS working nights spot on .
..
M.
Good example of a weatherspoons pub. Plenty of seats, busy at the bar but possible to get served and the staff are nice kn the whole. Everything else is exactly what you expect from weatherspoons.
M. M.
The food there is amazing. I definitely recommend it. However, the service is not great as waiters/waitresses keep going to the wrong tables. This could also be due to the customers giving the wrong table number.
r. c.
Typical wetherspoons quality but I encountered a mystery on ordering my food. Veggie lasagne with a side of garlic ciabatta. One slice of ciabatta duly arrived and when I queried why not two I was told I had ordered an add on dish and not a side dish! Had to pay the difference but when I asked just where on any menu the add on dish and its price appeared they were unable to show me. Hardly surprising I was confused and still am frankly.
R. S.
Very generic 'Spoons, although it is cleaner than most
k. h.
Well run
Plesent staff. Worth a visit. 700 coaster buss stops 100m south.
c. b.
Great cheap run of the mill spoons.
J. V.
OK for a quick cheep drink 🍸
D. B.
Yep all good, it's a spoons so you know what your getting 😉
A. G.
I love this Wetherspoons - always busy, good atmosphere, food and drinks - plus I'm vegan and it's good to have a couple of choices what to eat. Guinness and veg chilli spud for under £6 - brilliant!
G. A.
It's a Wetherspoons. Cheap beer and pub grub, can't go wrong
O. S.
As usual staff are great, food excellent well done.
J. “. W.
Good breakfast , just about mdnaged to eat it , not that crowded in the mornings, fòod came fast
M. E.
Busy, but friendly and efficient. Witherspoons, my choice anyday. Rather noisy though.
R. D.
Decent wetherspoons in the heart of Southampton. Food is of a good standard, staff are friendly. Overall one of the better spoons you can visit.
A. R.
Good food at a good price, ideal for when you are away with work and have a budget to eat. Meal and a pint for under a tenner can't go wrong. friendly staff too.
N. W.
It's a busy Spoons. It's friendly with a lot of space. Hard to get served when really busy. But cheap and a good spoons.they won't charge your phone behind the bar. Which is fair but annoying.
A. E.
Its not the best pub around, but superb value. Punk IPA always on and makes a visit worthwhile. The Red Lion is far better.
A. G.
A good pub with good quality food no frills but plenty of ordenary folk having a great time. I had the large mixed grill and it all I could eat. Came home for a sleep. Allan
C. E.
Friendly staff and quick service
m. b.
Gloriously cheap, sticky tables, toilets as far away as the moon. Everything you expect from a Spoons.
J. M.
One of the not so nice Spoons, it was the same spoons inside however the interior felt old and dirty. It was very dingy and wasn't the most comfortable place. Lots of students here as its in the centre of town. Still a spoons at the end of the day and wouldn't expect more.
J. H.
Never a bad time in here. Its your typical whether spoons cheap and cheerful food that will leave you satidsifed. Staff have always been relatively helpful
A. D.
This is a wetherspoons pub so you know what your getting.
Great breakfast and cheap beer.
They have table service and disabled friendly
R. A.
It's good value for drinks and the atmosphere isn't too bad. Staff are pretty cool, but you probably wouldn't choose to go here for the food, would you?
M. A.
Is the very nice place to big people this weekend I might a good group of friends that we haven't seen each other for 30 years we had a very good time we drank a lot angry the lot and if I got people coming to Southampton always meet them and there in the centre of the town
outlet point the service and the training is very good the staff is very present bad the chairs and is your feel comfortable you stay longer thank you very much for the lovely evening they chased the very hard and very uncomfortable
M. L.
Nice pub after been shopping. It's young people who are running the pub. No glue about ales.
M. R.
Always good food and drinks here, and fast and friendly service
P. H.
Central, good choice of ales, very busy.
P. D. A.
Nice quick service , what more do you want !
k. m.
Had to queue but it was a saturday, make sure your in a group of 6 or smaller but even though it is busy the staff are doing there best to serve you and keep it quick and flowing
D. H.
Really good simple food done well. Used the app got a beer & a burger quicker than you would in a McDonald's with better quality too
I. R.
Good pub, good real ale. Friendly staff. Thank you.
J. R.
Good place for a cheeky one
A. M.
Just what it says on tin great price .
C. D.
Nice pub
P. W.
Service was good. Friendly staff, as always very competitive prices and good quality.
D. A.
The food and drinks are reasonably priced and their quality is as adequate as you'd expect. Nothing exceptional except the service. Your order will be with you quicker than you expect.
L. M.
Truly a friendly costumer services every time I went there. The pub areas are quite busy, but the dining area is surprisingly noiseless. A great place for pub-lovers, like me…
A. L.
food was good and the staff member who served us was very helpful
L.
Had a lovely meal and a few drinks. Loads of seating was busy but food and getting served at the bar didn't take long.
T. T.
Not the cleanest of places but just like any other weatherspoons. Cheap and cheerful!
C. F.
Fairly standard weatherspoons, although cheap the owners have paid attention to keeping the place looking respectable. Loses a star as the outside area at the front isn't really enclosed and it's in the middle of a wide pavement
S. B.
Can't understand why some reviewers are moaning. It's a Wetherspoons!!!
I just enjoyed a decent dinner and good beer very reasonably priced.
Could have had the football on but hey ho!
D. S.
The epitome of a Wetherspoons franchise. Cheap and cheerful.
The standing order is situated on the lower end of the high-street behind the bargate. Prices are very cheap which is the best quality of a Wetherspoons. The pub is very large, with plenty of seating even during busy peak times. Bar service is very good and quick. The toilets are situated right at the back of the pub and they are also very big. Decor is old-fashioned and traditional much akin to other Weatherspoon venues of course. It's a 'spoons so no music is played. They have a few TVs dotted around displaying news/sports. The food is cheap and cheerful also, featuring the traditional Weatherspoons selection of pub grub, great for breakfast, lunch or dinner.
If you're on a night out, this would be a good place to start and load up on cheap drinks if you're on the outskirts of town as it's a 15 minute walk away from the nightlife. Alternatively you may want to seek out The Giddy Bridge, Yates or Spitfire which are closer to the action, further up the high street.
C. P.
Good prices, although rising recently... Menu has a good variety. Good place to go with friends, tends to get a bit busy on weekends...
M. T.
Tailored to all types of people with a limited budget. Peak times offers long queues, cheap drinks and sticky tables...just what everyone wants on a Friday night.
S. B.
A good place with reasonable prices. However due to prices the establishment get busy, there is also a good selection of food on offer again at a good price. There is no music being played and the many tv scrèns are on mute with subtitles. Not a good place for familes
A. m.
Local watering hole for Southampton but could do with a good makeover quite a dark place inside maybe a good beer garden would help with more windows. Friendly staff and cheap drinks etc.
M. F.
Service is fast, food is good but the tables are not cleaned before you seat (or after). If cleaner, the place would deserve at least 4 stars.
S.
Food was very tasty, however was a little bit of wait (over 30 mintues) but other than that I had no issues, place was clean, staff were friendly and overall a very enjoyable experience and I will be returning the next time I am in Southampton
A.
Friendly staff, clean, fast service even when very busy
A. S.
Lovely meal (standard Spoons) but quite shabby.
s. m.
Not great rickety furniture could do with an upgrade staff ok a bit better a bit cleaner some furniture seems better staff ok
j. T.
Stopped for a drink and decided to have a meal, we used the app to order our meal, disaster as our starter came with main course. The food its self was cold before we started.
K. S.
Quick food service and large selection of beer available all for a decent price. Can get busy when there's a football match on but would highly recommend.
M. H.
Basic. Service issue even at 10.30pm when the barman was not busy and decided to serve someone who came up to the bar 5 mins after I did. Barman must have noticed us there first. Disappointing.
T. C.
Typical Wetherspoons pub, lots of real ales and a full bar menu. Beer cheap and food is good value for money.
This pub is looking a little tired and can be very bust at weekends.
S. H.
Great staff, friendly atmosphere. Awesome place to hang out. Food was good too!
M. F.
Full marks spoons , great COVID conditions , felt safe , great service as usual in these trouble times , support your local weather spoons and keep everyone in a job !
R. F.
Went and had a full English breakfast and a Glass of OJ not to bad was very busy didn't have to wait to long for the food but it wasn't the nicest place to go for breakfast I would go again just not for a long time
C. F.
Such great value, and you can order from a app too.
D. W.
Table service is handy bit when I ordered a hot chocolate the cup and chocolate was brought to the table but then we had to go out and get the milk ourselves.. surely that should of been done by the staff when I ordered from my phone !!
t. 1.
Great place to go ! The pizza is amazing ! Cheaper than a takeaway and much nicer too ! Plus shipyard on tap. What more could you ask for
i. t.
Really good even when busy
J. S.
Went in for a quick bit of food. Staff were great and organised with sorting seating and quick service.
C. S.
Massive pub. Very cheap drinks. Local feel.
Z. R.
When this pub isn't busy then the service is excelent. Even though im over 18 I still get asked for id. Im not offended, Im glad they ask because that way they must ask many other people as well.
K. M. N.
Food is great, but limited serving time brings this down for me. Good beer, friendly staff and a large climbing frame with a slide in the beer garden.
K. B.
In all honesty it has a higher standard than any spoons I've been in the local ales are top notch and ever changing couldn't ask for more in a local
A. D.
start of a fabulous two week's with two very good friends
J. D.
Great pub, although could use a general refurb at this point... getting on a bit in years. Good food and good selection of drinks at a great price
M. J.
The food is pretty decent, drinks are cheap. Just a few staff members are rude..
C. G.
Very friendly atmosphere, nice pub food, great bar and selection, brilliant friendly staff...great social hub used by a variety of people including crew from the ships, tourists, locals...friendly atmosphere 😁
M. F.
Good atmosphere, the food is good and very reasonably priced. And a wide variety of drinks. The staff are very welcoming and friendly. Situated close to the centre of the town.
M. c.
The wetherspoons. Cheap and jolly. But the leaflets The owner started to distribute are annoying. He is a brexit zealot. Wants more low paid staff he could be able to fire at will.
I want to eat and drink and not to talk about politics!!!!!
N. C.
Would be so much better with music and heaters in the garden.
P. L.
Good food good beer Great service from all the staff. Will definitely be going back next time i am in Southampton kro
S. C.
Nice atmosphere for a Monday afternoon big place nice people
M. T.
Great pub in Southampton. Always go there when in town. The drink is reasonably priced. Food is good and also at an affordable price.
