Reviews of The Witch's Brew Micro Pub
C. A.
Pretty much the best kept ale in Southampton. Mary is delightful. What was really interesting is the fact that every customer that walked through the door said hello to me. Great pubs attract nice people. Cheers! 🍻

Mary runs a very tidy shop. Six stars from me.

Quality cask beer - the freshest I've tasted in Shirley. Always crystal clear and delicious. Interesting changing selection on every week. Friendly owner - always welcomed with a smile.

The Witch's Brew is probably the most grass roots micro pub in Southampton. There's no music and it was breathed into life by Mary the owner who originally started with a bare plywood aesthetic, but which has now morphed into a cozy little real ale pub with an esoteric and occult interior design.
Easily the best thing about the Witch's Brew are the frequently changing tasty ales (and Porters), and the ease with which it's possible to enjoy other people's conversations and/or join in. Lot's of elderly Shirley gents come here and they are all just golden geezers with a wealth of information both local and historical.

Not a bad little pub. Feels more like someone's house.

Real pub with real ale straight out of the barrel!
A. C.
Cosy friendly community pub which emphasise the quality of their beer above all else. 'Quiet' (no music/slot machines/games/etc.) with a focus on getting to know other patrons. Takeaway containers also available, and operated an order-and-collect service in lockdown.

One of the beat micro pubs in Southampton (well overdue CAMRA Pub of the Year!). Landlady Mary goes to great pains to keep her cask ale and cider in perfect condition, prices them affordably and has created a cosy and welcoming local haunt. Why go anywhere else?!
N. W.
Yet another great addition to Southampton's thriving real ale and micro pub scene. There's a small outside drinking area at the front then two rooms through to the bar, both rooms have a slightly different feel but both comfortable and a bit quirky. The bar has stillages behind it from where the excellent ales and ciders are served by the pleasant owner Mary. A nice starting or finishing point if you're visiting the three micropubs along Shirley High Street.

The place is so small I never even noticed it the first times I walked by. But I did go in eventually and was pleasantly suprised. Cozy little place, with a very kind and welcoming person behind the counter. The drinks were quite good too and reasonably priced!

Watch the opening hours but a brilliant little micropub serving excellent cask beers with a lovely, pleasant and friendly owner/landlady. A very nice seating area outside at the front.

C. P.
Great selection of beers, and a nice courtyard garden out the back in which to enjoy a drink. Definitely worth a visit?
S. D.
Such a unique and nolstagic place. I feel like there would have been a lot more places like this a long time ago. It feels like there's a bit of magic in the house, and the cask ales were kept beautifully.
J. F.
This is a sweet, little place with a few good beers on tap. It is definitely not your archetypal pub and for that it is all the better. Offers something unusual to the local area.
B. K.

A popular addition to Southampton's growing number of micro-pubs. Always a good selection of ales, in the peak of condition and invariably something on the dark-side: Stout or porter.
Keep it a secret from all but you best chums.
