Ordered 2 lasagnes, a pint of coors, a pint of coke and a large slushie. The lasagne came with chips, garlic bread and salad. They arrived within 7 minutes of ordering at the bar and were piping hot and very tasty. The staff were amazing, polite, professions and very friendly. The best Hungry horse experience I’ve had all over the UK. Keep up the good work H.H, Ps enjoy the pic of my empty plate but take my word for it when I say it was amazing! 😬😆

Just had 15oz gammon and chips and apple crumble included in the price on a Thursday. All cooked perfectly, excellent customer service. Excellent price . So keep it up! You have a high level to beat on our next visit.

Average food, average price, average service. It is what it is a nice place to go and have a meal. The staff are friendly, it's clean and the food is good. Lots of families and some children running around so may not be the ideal place for some people but I eat there regularly and have never had any real complaints.

Not been here before. Great if youve a big appetite as most of the meals are super sized. Can honestly say the staff were the best, from the young lad behind the bar to the waiter and waitress who served us, very pleasant chatty and helpful. Second time visiting and it certainly was a different experience. All staff upon arrival were very polite and willing to help. The food was very good and arrived very quickly considering it was a busier than normal day 'mothers day' the food ordered for the little one was even rushed through as she was getting a little cranky. Attended the quiz but left disappointed and early. White it was busy, I wouldn't say it was unmanageably so. Ordering off the app was reasonably quick but service at the bar was very slow. The member of staff greeting and sitting customers seemed agitated and flustered. They rushed across the pub to where our table was leaving us to chase. While our table was reserved there were customers at it which the staff member moved on. Though there were obvious drink marks on the table from them using it he didn't clean the table for us to use our send another staff member to do so. With COVID regulations not that far behind us this seemed quite glaring. We then noticed the reserved sign in the table had my wife's full name on it. I'm pretty sure this fall's under GDPR rules, but it's completely unnecessary as an anonymous booking ref could have been used. We ordered food which came out in a reasonable time, but elements of all three meals were cold. The side salad on my meal had completely wilted. This makes me think the food had been sat on the pass for a while before coming out. Part of our food order was missing and I had to find a staff member to ask for it. They were friendly, apologised for the error and brought it to us. The empty plates and glasses were not cleared from our table at any point even when staff brought further drinks to the table that we had ordered via the app. The quiz itself was well attended and the hosts seemed to be doing a decent job and went round the tables to say hello and chat. The quiz software seemed straightforward to use. I felt the bonus points for bar spend and reviews ruined the quiz. We scored about the midpoint of all the playing teams in the first round, so could be considered an average score. If a team spent £50 and left the reviews they could have more points without answering a single question. To me it felt like pay to win. This was a disappointing visit and the reduction in my review score reflects this, but I would say that normally the service and food are a lot better and we will visit again and hopefully I can amend my score again.

Amazing value for meals beautifully cooked and served with a smile. Wonderful welcome from Becki as usual. The only criticism I have is that the pub is crying out for a refurb however that doesn't spoil the dining experience.

The food is nothing special, but the children like it. We very much felt rushed, within the space of 5 minutes three different staff members had asked us if we were ready for desert.... 3 out of 5 of us hadn't finished our main courses at that point! Plates were cleared away as each person finished rather than waiting until we were all done. It felt like they were desperate for the plates and dishes (or they wanted us out).

Become our weekly treat for breakfast not only are they delicious but 100% the staff make it! Becki (with i lol) is a treasure, always goes out of her way to make us feel welcome. She even puts up with my hubby's bad jokes she deserves a medal! See you all soon!

We all had a lovely family meal on Tuesday. There were 8 of us and although they were really busy, all of our food was spot on and everyone enjoyed their meal. One of our party has special needs and all staff were more than helpful. Thank you very much.

This was a typical Hungry Horse pub and a typical chain pub bill of fayre. We arrived at 6pm, to meet up with family for our Christmas Eve meal that was booked in advance. It was our first visit to the Chatterley Whitfield pub, so I had nothing to go by as to what to expect. And going on first impressions, I have to say it's looking a bit tired and unloved and definitely in need of some TLC and refurbishment. Also I noticed that none of the staff wore PPE face masks. Our party of six all turned up wearing the appropriate face coverings, only to find no-one else could be bothered. I thought that these were official requirements under government health and safety guidelines in the current pandemic. And the pub was full of what I would consider to be juveniles and under age drinkers. The food itself was standard, although I would question the freshness of the produce. I had breaded mushrooms with a garlic dip for starters. The mushrooms, although hot, were coated in rock hard battered breadcrumbs, and were almost inedible. I am not a food standards expert, but I would hazard a guess and say that they had been prepared earlier in the evening and kept warm in a heated cabinet. They were most definitely NOT fresh. For main course I chose the Jumbo fish and chips with mushy peas. This was decent enough, although I failed to see how they could justify calling it a Jumbo, as the fish was on the small side and the chips were a medium portion. That said I finished the meal but was unimpressed and didn't bother with the dessert menu. I have eaten in Hungry Horse establishments in the past and have been satisfied both with the meals, the ambiance and the service each time. I would have to say that this was by far the worst, in terms of an eating out with plenty of room for improvement. I gave this review three stars but only because of the attentiveness of the staff. As a dining out experience, I'd be struggling to give it one star.

Came here for a quick treat me with my partner and son. Have to say, burgers were dry for my partner. Had nothing with the corn on the cob. Had to send my food back to be redone due to the fact it had about 2mil of charcoal on it, it being dry and the only flavour being the charcoal! Just under £30 totally not worth it. 🙄 Staff member was funny at the fact I wasn't happy with my steak, theirs well done steak which you can cook and it won't be burnt to a crisp. Hence why the one I had replaced was much better considering you didn't burn it to a crisp second time round. 🍖

We have been today for a family meal for my son's 21st birthday. The area was reserved and we were able to decorate it when we arrived. There was 27 of us, and I was concerned that we would not all get our food at the same time. This was not the case. Nothing was too much trouble,we all ordered in small groups,but all the food arrived very quickly, the meals were all fresh and tasty. Fantastic service from all staff. Thank you!

Hi Mat Where to start? Food was as always excellent, however not for the first time tables had not been cleaned(the one next to us remained dirty for all of our 40 min visit) , but even worst and again not for the first time, the cutlery was dirty and still containing particles of food from previous usage, out of 6 place settings provided we managed to salvage /clean 2 sets. the staff did seem busy so we did not bother them at the time, however using this forum gives us chance to comment. Hmmm. Nice to see the place packed - busier than I've seen for a while. This may however be the reason for the let down with the food. Steak sizzler ordered with medium steak - was firstly just a plate of water with tepid rare steak. It was kindly taken away and a fresh one made. The veg was cooked this time, but the steak was still kicking.....won't be having that again.

An 8th birthday party of 10, some issues including slow service, long waits between starters and mains, but puddings were even longer. Children's meals arrived well before adult meals, the"Jumbo Cod" was smaller than expected, one order given chips instead of mash, not enough staff, we waited 20/30 minutes for the birthday cake to be brought through, so not too happy on this occasion. I do recommend it tho, not based on this occasion but on past visits where everything was good and correct.

We nipped into the Chatterley Whitfield for a quick evening meal midweek. We went for the two meals for £7.99. And we were pleasantly surprised, the meals looked pretty good for the price. We had a homemade (looking) pie and the other meal was scampi. The pie meal was pretty substantial, but the scampi was a bit like a slightly bigger children's dinner. But overall, the place was nice, the service was fine and the food was good enough. Have the pie though :)

Not the place for a quiet meal! Meal wasn't thoroughly warm but not so little it wasn't worth complaining about. Some of our party said the veg was too al dente for their taste. Service was good though. Good selection of meals and beers. Plenty on the plate too with many toofers.

A real mixed bag with this one... The staff were awesome. Nothing was too much trouble, bent over backwards to help and kept checking everything was OK for us (and not in a pestering/nagging way). However, I have to admit the food wasn't the greatest and it wasn't the cleanest family pub I've been in. Tables either hadn't been cleared or cleaned properly, while food was of a quality below what I'd expect of this chain. I fully expect this to be a one-off, though, and would be willing to give it another chance.

I do love the pub it's lovely to look at, it's clean but there never seems to be enough staff on. I was having a coffee took about 10 mins to make it I didn't mind that as it's fresh and hot but people around me were getting all aggravated as to their wait. So I have to say more staff please.

Lovely lovely place. However, places like this gets run down with the attitude of some employees. It takes ages to clear tables, pressure on staff on few occasions have meant substandard service. Pls train some of your staff in customer care and get more staff in behind the till . The ambience and setting are superb. Food and drinks are great.

Overall food was good men's toilets were not plesent wouldnt sit on them and toilet rolls put down them. a lot of food they had run out of which resulted in one of our family not having anything to eat as didn't eat what they did have and wouldn't of enjoyed their meal if they did order something. Also another family member was told that a dessert they wanted had ran out but then I went up and tried to order the same dessert and got it no problem. Staff did sort the issue out and were helpful.

We've met up with friends at the Chatterley Whitfield on several occasions and have always been happy with the good food and pleasant service. A nice atmosphere, especially from a "chain pub" and with good parking. The restaurant has always been very clean when we've been there and we enjoy our meals each time.

Hit and miss. The sunday dinner wasn't much cop, yorkshire pud was like a brick, roasties looked they weren't cooked and were drier than Ghandis flip flop, the veg was ok but the gravy was tasty. The hunters chicken was spot on as usual. Would have been nice for the staff to acknowledge I had left most of the roast though and ask if everything was ok.

The customer service is excellent. The food portion size is generous. The beer, wine and spirit selection is good. The pub is clean and well presented. It is a Hungry Horse pub. Another well run and good value for money establishment. I visited again. The staff are still superb. They are friendly, welcoming and accommodating. There is a useful covered area outside for smokers and a pleasant outdoor seating area. Sadly Greene King are letting the staff and customer's down. The pub is starting to look tired and in need of repair and maintenance. The men's toilets in particular are in a poor state with loose taps, leaking urinal and graffiti on the walls. Please see the photographs. The floor in the gents was sticky! I hope that Greene King start to invest more in the repair and maintenance as they are letting their staff and customers down.
