Great pub serving well kept Robinsons Ales. Dizzy Blonde is my favourite tipple and its first class. Great friendly Landlord, Malcolm, and staff. Right next to the Canal with a beer garden looking over lock 43. Food is well priced and great quality. Give it a go if your passing!

Very friendly pub that has a fantastic renovation in the last 18 months or so. Great canal side seating area for the warmer days and the perfect pit stop when on a canal walk. Good food options, including one or two items for vegans, and always good portion sizes.

Love going here, either with our dog or without. The food is always great, daughter loves the mac n cheese bites, hubby loves the rump steak and my choice is always the gammon. Lovely quaint pub easy to park and nice to sit outside by the canal, parking easy. Brought back lots of emotions and memories for my mum as her dad was stationed near by during the war. As he was a ambulance crew. Tried to visit the hall where he was but looks like it now luxury accommodation. So no entry for us😦So she remembered sitting outside on the wall.

Lovely meal, good portion and quality food with lovely homemade chips, beautiful area to sit outside with canal next to it.... HOWEVER... the menu prices online on the website are NOT the actual price... The menu states alot of the meals are £5, i.e gammon and chips, burger, cod and chips etc but this is not the case. When the bar lady told us the price after ordering I was abit shocked, thinking it would have cost £10 before ordering but when asking for the money she actually asked for just over £25. This is a BIG difference. We mentioned that the menu on their website does not state this, and she said she would get it sorted as they're no longer doing them meals at that price, the other bar lady knew. This should be a priority to sort or meals should be given at the advertised price? The place is lovely with a beautiful outside area, food is lovely and the waiting staff are helpful and friendly... I've had to knock a star for the misleading information on their website though... That being said, will probably be back.... Just sort the website out😊

Visited about 2 weeks ago. I had not visited since their refurbishment. Much improved layout inside, very impressed. Had 2 pints of Robinsons Unicorn, which was a great pint. I must visit again and try the food.

We stopped off here for a drink after a day walking along the canal. Beer is reasonably priced and a good selection to choose from, good food selection too, although we weren't planning on eating. Plenty of outside seating along the canal side with railings to separate for safety. Lots of parking spaces. Nice inside too.

Sadly, the food is still not good They have renovated the entire place, looks so much better while keeping the friendly staff. Menu is now fixed, before there used to be specials. Location 5* Staff 4* New design 4* Food 1-2* Can't believe that after all the changes and hopes build for this places as we live close by, the food is still poor. Burger patties are frozen, bread breaks apart (plus mine had a hair on!) and the batter for the fish and chips is very thick and freeze flavoured.

Great base for (dog) walks along the canal. There's a beer garden right next to the lock with barges travelling both ways. Good food but the home cooked chips are something else! Get there early if you want a seat in the garden.

Beautifully refurbished. Most of the staff are young but they all need enjoy what they are doing and not see it as a chore, we felt like 'an inconvenience', give a smile, rejig sentences -would you like some ice, not do you want ice, make a huge difference. A bit more professionalism and finesse would go along way.

I have used The Red Bull for years, its always been a welcoming pub, a favorite with the barging fraternity as there are moorings nearby. The pub has recently been refurbished, which in my view has improved its appeal, the food is good pub grub with a twist.

Been here on multiple occasions and every time the food is absolutely beautiful. The home made chips are amazing, and I particularly love the sirloin steak or the gammon steak. An added bonus aswell is the chocolate fudge cake with ice cream, so delicious. The staff are always warm, welcoming and friendly. This is my favourite place to eat in the entire city

We've not long moved to the area but I've been here loads already. The food is great; what I'd call "proper" hearty pub food - but they're great for interesting veggie and vegan options, too. Great beer, local produce (eggs and jams on fake art the bar!), insanely reasonable prices and really hot on Covid safety measures whilst still being welcoming. Dog friendly and good kids options, I don't know what else we could ask for!

Nicely set out although no area for drinkers only other than around the bar which blocked the routes through the pub. Food was ok. Had the fishcakes but found them barely warm in the middle. Plates cold too. Homemade chips and fresh salad was nice. Prices a bit high . Missed the specials etc. Would visit again but not on a regular basis.

Went today for first time in along long time , went with the family and my parents for a meal, staff were excellent, very friendly and polite, the beer was kept really well as Roberson ale can easily taste awful put pints were all spot on. The food was fantastic we all had starters and main ,not one of us had anything bad to say , the portions were huge definitely great value for money. Had a great meal , with great drinks and will definitely be heading back soon

Totally different from how I remember it. Been there twice, would recommend the steak!! However my dessert that night, the sticky toffee pudding was frozen. No problem when I told the waitress, who swapped it for a new pudding, but was shocked to find it on my bill. Other establishments would have removed. On my second visit ordered a sandwich, but I have had better. Cheap brown bread and a distinct lack of tartar sauce on the fish finger sandwich. But again, didn't put me off and I will definitely go back. These problems I rhi k are just small teething problems, which happen when it is very busy,

Great food at great prices and because it's a Robinson's pub the beers pretty damn good as well. Sit beside the canal, watching the narrow boats go through the lock while eating and drinking. The further you sit away from the pub the road the more sun there is as their is shade from the trees close to the road.

Came for my nieces birthday meal. The was just nice and the staff were very friendly. But the meal was expensive. The only food on offer were the Sunday dinners which is not good if you don't like Sundays and a veggie like I am so you can't have Sunday dinner. A much needed facelift unfortunately hasn't improved the standard of food. The 3 star rating reflects the decor and quality beer but it's the school dinner style food that lets this pub down. For families with kids I'd avoid the child's pizza which was a microwaved soggy disaster. The adult mains were ok accept for the chips which were deep fried in oil that was not hot enough and resulted in greasy lumps of potato.

This Pub is under new management. Was very busy at weekends. Good Pub Food. Reasonable prices. Pub sits right by the canal with basic picnic benches, so you can watch the boats go up and down in the Red Bull Lock.

Red bull was very accomadating as we went in about 3.30 ish on a sunday and had done about 12 locks since 10.00 am on the nb so were ravenous .the service was quick and staff lovely the sunday dinner was fabulous especially new potatoes (which we could have eaten more of) choice of beef , chic or pork yorkie and veg really fresh well cooked and nicely presented and although no room downstairs they promptly showed us to a table upstairs .thank you so much this was really appreciated and made our day ! bonus for us nxt time we can sit at the front if we take our furry friend in too wth doggy treats on the bartop.
