Been a couple years since came to the travelers rest due to this covid Finally came back as last time had a great meal with family Booked a table for 6 As always great to see a business doing so well and busy in these strange times. Staff very friendly, once again had a great meal We had full 3 courses But forgot photo all meals only remembered 1 starter we had a few different meals Starters soup of the day was stilton and broccoli Garlic mushrooms Mains Sunday roast trio Turkey roast Braised steak Deserts Treacle sponge Trio ice cream Honey comb cheese cake Meringue sundae ( forgot full name) All was very nice Staff very friendly highly recommend visiting As an idea on price 6 starters 6 mains 5 deserts 4 beers 6 soft drinks 2 cordials £170 A good price as well Well worth a visit and we will be back alot sooner than last time 👍

I ordered gammon steak and prawn cocktail. The food I ordered are delicious and with big portion. The prawn cocktail is just amazing, definitely try this if you are proven lover just like me. Gammon steak is good too, the pork skin is on and fried so it's nice and crispy. My other friend, who ordered salmon and the daily soup - broccoli and stilton, isn't as impressed as the cheese is so dense she said it stick on your lips when you have it. I was there around 2pm Saturday, it's still pretty packed at the time, so make sure you make the booking. The atmosphere was good too! Not sure if it's because it just reopened but the service we got can definitely better. Staffs have good attitude but when serving coffee and bringing cutlery, they left them on a corner of the table (we have a table for 6 ppl) then left,expecting yourselves to pass to whoever needs it. We also waited for a long time to get our dessert menu after asked them for it, then waited a long while again to actually been asked what did we want to order.

First visit for lunch. Friendly staff. Nice food. I had steak baguette. Meat was nice and bread soft. Chips and gravy were nice. Other food looked nice and well presented- fish cakes and hunters chicken were recommended by others. If anything prices bit expensive but food was freshly cooked and very filling.

Not been before , Beautiful quite pub situated in the country, large carpark, staff fabulous, wide range of food, I had a Beef dinner lovely thick slices of beef,lots of roast/ boiled potatoes ,lovely bowl full of veg, gravy mouth watering .I've had several sunday dinners all around Staffordshire , but I can Honestly say this is the best, Can't wait to go again.

Belly pork was delicious, tender and crispy, nice veg and tasty mash. Beer well kept and good selection. Nice staff and welcoming atmosphere. My three guests all felt theirs was also an excellent meal, a lot has changed since lockdown but this pub is as good as ever.

Lovely old pub set in a picturesque village. The staff are very courteous and professional and can't do enough for you . Our 83 year old brother in law is disabled and they did their best for us to accommodate him. The food was delicious and arrived piping hot and all together. We will definitely be going back soon, we can't fault them at all. Keep up the good work.

I was visited by relatives and decided to reserve a table for lunch today. My cousin and daughter like their food and you didn't let me down! All 3 main courses were delicious as was the pudding. Service was faultless and the staff were fruendly and efficient. What more can you ask for? Thats why I give 5 stars and I haven't done that for a long time. I will be going back there for the Fish pie, it was awesome.

Beautiful home cooked food in a beautiful location. Staff are friendly and very helpful, lamb is so succulent this is our fourth visit now to this pub and on each visit the food and drinks have been amazing desserts are also very well presented and delicious. Lovely welcoming traditional country style pub. Open fire, oak beams. Good homely fare, good value. Sunday lunch very nice. Only one thing spoiled it for me - random music piped over speakers. In a crowded pub/restaurant the sound of voices creates enough atmosphere but we could hardly hear ourselves speak. Just a matter of personal preference perhaps.

This is a carefully restored old stone built pub which has just been tastefully refurbished. It is located in a small village setting with similarly built neighbouring properties. The pub itself is very popular with locals and visitors and serves a regularly refreshed range of guest beers. Inside there are low beams and fireplaces. There is a cosy bar area (where meals are also served) and a deceptively spacious rear dining area. This is a particularly popular place to eat and has lunch and a-la-carte menus. It would be better to book at busy times. The choice of food is varied and there are also some delicious vegetarian options. Portions are generous and very fairly priced. The bar and waiting-on staff are friendly and helpful and there are a high number of returning customers. The pub has a large rear car park. The pub is kept very clean and toilet facilities are spotless. I would highly recommend the Travellers Rest as a comfortable, friendly and good value place to eat and drink.

Great food enjoyed here with the family after passing through and calling in at random. Cute and quaint pub from the outside but it actually goes back a bit at the rear for the restaurant area, although we ate in the bar. Not a bad selection of drinks as well, Birra Moretti on draught, Peroni bottles, quite a number of gins as well. Will definitely call in again when we travel this way 🙂

This was our second visit to the Travellers Rest. The first occasion was an off the cuff last minute decision. And despite not booking we were found a table. The food and service on that occasion was really nice. So we decided to return today for Sunday lunch. Unfortunately it was a huge disappointment. I had the pate for starter. I must say it was very delicious and the best part of the meal. Lithe same cant be said for the roast beef dinner. The beef itself was nice as was the veg. The roast potatoes let the dish down. They were soggy and limp. Both myself and my girlfriend commented that we would have had better at a Toby Carvery and so left very disappointed considering our first visit was really nice. We may return once we have gotten over the disappointment but will be looking for somewhere else in the meantime. The setting is a cosy traditional old worldly pub and the atmosphere is great. Certainly a place where the locals will feel at home and the menu consists of some hearty meals mixed with some newer dishes.

Booked a table for 2pm that wasn't ready. Told to take a table in the bar which was clearly packed barely standing room which I'm sure was against fire regulations. Spoken to extremely rudely by the owner Steve. Walked out in total disgust. Last time I went steak wasn't very good but willing to give a second chance, not a third!

Food here has always been lovely in my experience and I would recommend it for adult guests. However, I have two children and I wouldn't really recommend it for families. There are no changing facilities for babies which made things very difficult for us! Also, on another occasion I called in advance to enquire about the ingredients in several items of food, and more specifically whether certain allergens were present in the kid's menu items. Unfortunately the staff made it clear that they didn't know and wouldn't be able to check for me. To be honest I heard the audible groan when the young girl who had answered the phone asked an older man, the landlord I assume. So I told them that it didn't matter and we went to a different pub instead! We haven't been back since because our youngest daughter wouldn't be able to eat there at all!!

I found the food average not worth a complaint but enough not to warrant a 2nd visit, service was good and people friendly, I was told the food was excellent here not sure I would go that far, chips overcooked and gammon was tough and constantly had one of the server's bumping the chair as they passed
