Reviews of Britannia Inn
C. F.
Beautiful location and great to stop by if you've just done a nice hike around the coast and through the dunes.
The food isn't always the best, a little hit and miss. Their standard menu is somewhat bland, more quantity over quality. One time I had the ploughman's and the cheeses weren't really anything special and the pickles just a bit basic.
My friend had the chilli once and it looked ok, my husband and I have previouslu picked some starters from the specials board and that was much nicer!
Great you can take the pups into the pub!
Would visit again but probably just for a refreshing drink outside!
K. T.
Superb pie, juicy steak plus ale.
Delicious melt in the mouth pastry.
Nicely cooked veg and creamy mash without lumps.
Perfect pub meal after a days walking on the Gower.
Desert was pretty good too 😋
J. L.
A beautiful meal had during our family holiday. The Inn was extremely busy, but the staff and service was excellently efficient, and friendly.
G. C.
Great pub! A great pit stop along the coast path. A good menu, varied with vegan & vegetarian options. Friendly service from staff and the food was quicker than expected. Result! The beer garden at the back is worth hunting out for the view. This pub seemed good for all ages as there were kids playing happily in the play area at the back.
R. E.
a picturesque public house incorporating rear garden with child safe area also views over the estuary & ample free parking . entry at the front through exterior sitting area into the bar/ restaurant area .
the menu will satisfy all tastes with selection of wines & beers with pleasant & helpful staff , well worth a visit . advice pre-book to avoid disappointment.
A. C.
Good food and great staff. The only problem is that they serve drinks to the restaurant from the one small bar in the pub and when the restaurant is full, it creates a large queue at the bar at busy times. The barman was immense though, I've rarely seen someone work that hard to keep customers happy and served.
Also, amazing views from the rear gardens, beautiful.

Visited here twice in the last week, once for a drink after a walk and then with my parents for a late lunch.
The Britannia Inn is a lovely, friendly pub - felt super warm both times we visited with a wood burner and very friendly staff. Drinks were very good value.
Lunch was excellent too - proper pub food and again great value. We ordered their sausage and mash, ham egg and chips and a special lamb shoulder meal. The menu items were all around £9 and the special lamb was a little more expensive but all brilliant for the price!
Kudos to the lovely lady with blonde hair behind the bar (sorry we didn’t catch your name) and Tony who served us on 30th. He had come to work as everyone was off sick and he did a great job and was very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu 🤩
After a long wet walk - this pub is just the ticket!
O. Z.
Great food, we had fish and steak dishes - brilliant, salads are amazing. Nice big playground for kids with lots of attractions in a garden. Also close to area with roaming cattle - great fun for kids
S. F.
Highly recommend, will definitely be returning. Amazing food, very inspired specials board, something a little different but with local produce. Great service and food arrived in good time even though all tables were full. Very good value for money.
L. R.
Delighted to return to this gem again after a 20 year gap to find the same welcome, comfort and choice of seating. You do need to book the restaurant as fully booked for the week ahead. Great sign that the food is good too.
M. C.
Following a recommendation we booked for lunch in the cosy restaurant on a rainy windy day for my partners birthday! What can I say … fabulous relaxed atmosphere and a lovely welcome! The food was outstanding - we had the pigeon starter - venison and lamb as mains were both incredible! Crumble and sticky toffee pudding finished off an amazing lunch! Thank you so much to a lovely young couple and the best of luck with your future endeavours as you have created a quality haven for food and ambience! X

What a little gem to come across. Lovely atmosphere and food to die for. One of the best steaks I have had and perfectly cooked. My wife had the fish and could not fault it. We will be back!
D. S.
We regularly visit the Brit when we're down in Gower. Food is always great (there's two menus, one more burgers and sausages and the other more pigeon breast), service is always great. Beer is always very well kept and a good selection of other local spirits.
Atmosphere and locale are great, feels properly "off the beaten path", especially in winter. Summer can be very busy so would always book if you can.
K. M.
Busy but quick service. Staff great, welcoming, helpful and pleasant. Food cooked to perfection and delicious. Dog friendly. Lovely outside seating areas and plenty of space for children to play.
C. T.
The food was good but the overall experience was disappointing…
Firstly the food portion is very small. And the staff didn’t pay much attention on the customer experience because one of us was having birthday there, and I specifically asked for a birthday note on the order. But the birthday note didn’t come in the end. Normally a restaurant could offer a free dessert for birthday meals… well I wouldn’t recommend to eat there.
B. L.
We had a great couple of nights at the Britannia Inn whilst away for two weeks in Llangenith and although our last experience wasn’t 100% I would recommend this as a brilliant place to visit. The lamb dishes were amazing and the kids meals were excellent (our boys cleared their plates which is unusual). My only criticism was the sticky toffee pudding, it wasn’t sticky in fact a runny toffee pudding, and unfortunately when we only managed half the desert and complained it was met on deaf ears, which was a shame because it showed a lack of experience from the serving staff. Apart from this I hope to visit again I’ll just order a different desert.. :-)
A. B.
Excellent food and great service. Really attentive and good value for the superb quality of food. Had a great time and the kids loved the outdoor play area too.
A. M.
Amazing food.
Wonderful service.
Covid friendly and safe.
Can't wait to come back and try more of the menu!
O. T. -. O.
Good food, cozy place, lovely service
K. B.
Brilliant food and lovely setting. I would certainly recommend reserving if you want to sit indoors, it can get very busy. A must for anyone visiting the area.
L. T.
Warm fire, welcoming atmosphere and delicious food - all really reasonably priced, honestly can’t fault it. Leah, the bartender was kind, fun and really positive, I’ll definitely be coming back everytime I’m down the Gower!
V. H.
Stopped for lunch whilst walking in the local area. As it was a lovely day we sat outside with the dogs. Garden was fairly busy and well equipped for families with small children. Play area, bunnies and an aviary. Nice view. Stopped on a Sunday, they had their full menu available and we had baguettes which came with some chips. We would return if back in the area.
D.
In the north of Gower beautiful views, beautiful farmhouse syle deco. Friendly staff and fast service.Advisable to book for a table inside plenty of outdoor seating including play area for children. Car park to the rear of pub. Moderate prices for meals, good quality food also use local produce. Excellent protocol for the covid.

Great views. Great garden. Lovely staff. Great food. What more could you want?
m. w.
Great food , beer and wonderful staff, a really chilled atmosphere perfect location.
D. S.
Brilliant place - both to eat and to watch the rugby.
My now wife and I like it so much we decided to get married there - which was a brilliant decision.
Our wedding guests said it was the best wedding food they had - a testament to Lindsey, Martin and the team and their amazing cooking
J. J.
Excellent food excellent service
What a great find for a valentine meal
Y. X.
Very charming place. Came here for the lamb dish, but find the steak pie was incredible! Amazing local beer.
A. B.
Great food and nice beer. Kids play area was good and very spacious. Bug budgie cage was a good distraction for kids as well.
J. C.
The best meal we've eaten on The Gower. We ate in the bar as we had our dog with us and both had the fish pie from the Specials board and puddings from the main menu. Everything we ate was delicious and great to see seasonal food freshly prepared. Staff were friendly and welcoming too.
R. R.
Excellent location, beer garden has beautiful views, food tasty. Plenty of variety on the menu, including a vegetarian menu with a good number of choices on it.
J. P.
One of the best pubs I know. Great food and drinks choice. Exceptional service and reasonable prices. Highly recommended.
S. H.
Lovely place for food. Great views from the beer garden. The food was excellent along with a fantastic service.
L. H.
Outdoor play area which kept the kids amused, nice views from the beer garden. Fair priced food and the portions were of a good size.
B. E.
Just had a fab meal this evening at this evening, there were four of us and each course was excellent. It was a busy service which was managed very well.
Thank you, will be back.
D. T.
Very small portion, drinks were just so so, food was tasty but overall a little dissapointed. Staff should pay more attention to detail and think about customer experience
B. E.
Huge garden with good play area for kids, and a great view over the Gower salt marshes. Dog friendly with lovely staff.
H. T.
Perfect little stop on the way to whiteford sands, beautiful place, in all aspects, people, service, decor and atmosphere.
J. H.
Excellent food, great selection of beer. Dogs allowed in bar area only. Very friendly.
T. G.
Good menu but did not have a meal
Sat out the back with friends and enjoyed the views
D. S.
Great pub. GREAT food Great Staff .. Went back 2021 and it is just as great ..cannot wait for next Year
S. B.
Really good food and lovely furnishings in a traditional pub/restaurant environment. The only downside was that the pea and ham soup was incredibly salty and it was cold in the back room when we arrived (both air and the wooden seats, which could have done with some cushions!) but could have just been a minor blip and it did warm up later as more people arrived.
M. L.
Lovely homemade meals here, We thoroughly enjoyed our time here. We were given exceptional service and would highly recommend this place to anyone.
Not a bad view if you are eating outside either!
C. J.
Great food and a brilliant outdoor space.
Child friendly.
Amazing views.
Our favourite
K. Y.
We had a lovely evening celebrating my daughter's birthday. We were a nuisance when we arrived by moving the tables to suit us, but the staff were excellent. The food was excellent. Local produce and the pigeon and rabbit were delicious. Love the place.
G. L.
Lovely pub, friendly staff, very nice menu.
It was very busy when we visited but we still got served quickly and didn't have to wait very long for our food.
I've been here a few times and it has never disappointed.
J. C.
Good atmosphere and lots of seating outside. Good pie and chips. Need to book if you want to sit inside
T. E.
Lovely dinner and dessert at the Britannia Inn. I'd heard so much about this 'Salt Marsh' lamb I just had to try it. It did not disappoint. Great menu. Friendly staff. Quick service. Decorated with art by Katherine Lightfoot @katlightfootartist Sorry, no pics of the wonderful food; we were too eager to tuck in.
A. C.
Delicious food, very well presented and served promptly.
A lovely feel of "old charm" with a modern menu...well worth a visit.
S. W.
Beautiful pub, dog friendly restaurant. Stunning food
J. M.
Very very nice had my birthday here today. Nice food but pricey for what we had. Probably won't return.
N. H.
Decent village pub, good friendly service, really nice lunch, menu looked extensive for those eating at night, and a decent selection of beers and drinks
J. J.
very helpfull staff, and lovely food.

Easily one of the best pubs on Gower, great selection of local food and some great beers on tap combined with some of the most beautiful views and walks on Gower. Can't go wrong
H. E.
Awesome pub / restaurant food and very friendly staff in a great location.
J. O.
Lovely lunch in a fabulous location overlooking the estuary very friendly staff and very helpful reasonably priced menu a very enjoyable experience will definitely go back
C. C.
Food was generally nice, had welsh salt flat lamb shank. A little over priced for the quality but a solid pub lunch.
S. F.
Dog friendly and great food. A beautiful setting!
S. G.
Very nice pub, very bussy and very to eat staff. Could do enough. Food was very nice. Dog friendly.
M. J.
Lovely food, great beers, nice atmosphere
A. G.
Fantastic food great place to start and finish your walk/hike
R. W.
Excellent quality of service and food. The rabbit casserole was so light and complex at the same time. Great trio of chocolates as dessert. We like so much that we are coming back tomorrow.
M. S.
This pub boasts many great factors. Friendly staff, a cosy village pub atmosphere and incredible landscape views from its garden.
The Britannia is dog friendly allowing them inside and out and provides water bowls outside which are regularly refilled.
The garden which has breathtaking views also has a wooden climping park for children and a wooden deck for comfortable eating and drinking outside.
Inside the pub there is plenty of comfortable seating and stretches of blackboards offering many different specials for both food and drink.
The menu offers choices for everyone. I myself am vegan and they cater for this by providing a beautiful Thai Green Curry, my family had Steak and Shepherds Pie which they all enjoyed thoroughly. They also offer many vegetarian and gluten free options and an extensive children menu.
D. F.
Nothing but good things to say about this pub. Friendly service with great food, including many gluten-free options. Didn't mind my muddy boots or refilling my water bottle for me. Will certainly be back next time I'm in the area.
S. C.
My first visit here and it was amazing. My son has a caravan near the Brit and we chose to go over for a family meal. We chose to eat outside in the rear garden which houses an aviary( beautiful). As it was the weather was lovely and my grandchildren could run around in the play area.
The food was amazing. I had some whitebait to start and a Fish and chips main.
j.
A really lovely place with a great atmosphere. The staff were obliging and polite and the menu was interesting and varied. The food was superb. By far the best place I've eaten over the past week, tho I guess it would be very busy peak season.
P. C. J.
Excellent food at a reasonable price. Nice friendly staff. It's great that dogs are allowed in the bar
R. P.
Fairly standard pub food, but the view from the beer garden is spectacular and there are great play facilities for kids. We didn't sit inside but it looked like a nice snug bar that would be lovely for sipping a pint next to the fire on a cold night (if they have a fire in winter?)
S. M.
Lovely food and ambiance. My friend had the best fish pie she had ever had. Staff all very polite and friendly.
J. B.
Great pub in a fantastic location. Awesome beer, awesome views, and chips to die for, what's not to love!
E. S. (.
Wow! Amazing food! Staff are very helpful and friendly too. I will definitely be visiting again!
J. S.
Best food all week in the gower! Had a table in the bar area which is dog friendly. Lovely country pub with great food!
S. H.
I had the lamb tagine, highly recommended. The picture is of the white chocolate profiteroles to follow. A compulsory pint of Gower Gold to accompany them. Perfect.
D. R.
Friendly staff, good food, child friendly & situated in a beautiful spot with open views over the Gower. Recomended
S. B.
Called in after a blustery coastal walk and found a lovely cosy atmosphere and warm welcome. The food was delicious, sea bream for me and pie for the Mr. Would absolutely recommend and we'll be going back soon!
G. J.
Delightful location, large beer garden overlooking estuary. Good service and food with local beers on tap.
M. L.
The service, ambiance, cleanliness & food are all very good. Lamb shank was slightly over-priced for the portion size, but well worth the money as it tasted very good.
M. T.
Lovely meal here. Suggest booking as it was busy when we arived on a Thursday night.
L. P.
Super Service, great ales and great food.
Good for the kids too.
L. A.
Beautiful award winning food ,in the most charming pub on the Gower , with breathtaking views over the Saltmarsh and the estuary beyond .
C. C.
Quiet Wednesday afternoon lunch in February, probably too much choice! Bar menu, resturant menu, specials board & extra specials.Friendly staff & fab food. Cosy atmosphere. Expensive but worth it. Somewhere to visit on special occasions & for a lovely treat 😋
K. W.
Food is really good. Really good friendly pub. Lots of dogs and these are very welcome
S. S.
Lovely as usual. Very tasty Sunday lunch
S. L.
Great experience! All the dishes were incredible and the price is decent
E. W.
Lovely pub serving great food with engaging bar staff. Worth travelling to if one is in the vicinity.
Y. O.
We had a lovely meal on the decking with stunning view. Service was excellent and food lovely . The pub garden is enormous with play ground for children including slides, climbing wall and a huge 2 storey fort/ Wendy house/ castle .... we will be back!!!
K. B.
First-class bar food and really friendly staff. The best steak and ale pie I've ever tasted, by far. Dog-friendly public bar too.
E. D.
Lovely pub. Huge grassy beer garden out back with playground and climbing wall for the kids. Wonderful views down over the wetlands. Good menu. Service was exceptional... Very friendly, efficient and helpful. Definitely dog friendly.
S. C.
Leah was such a wonderful waitress! She made us all feel really welcome and christmassy. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was great. 100% recommend.
D. W.
Visited for lunch. Friendly staff, good menu with lots of specials. Pie and chips amazing, prices around what you would expect. Everything we saw coming out looked great.Well worth a visit.
M. C.
Visited over Easter weekend. Was quite busy, but were able to find tables outside. Delicious cawl, merlyn liqueur crème brûlée, Glamorgan sausages and laverbread and cockles on toast! Very friendly and helpful staff, and prompt service despite the high number of visitors! Family friendly too.
D. G.
Excellent food service slow but they were very busy. I ordered white bait for starters and smoked mackerel salad for main. I would have only had main if had known how much white bait was in the starters. Once again the food was delicious but a bit too much for me.
n.
Great food, good beer, cracking view.
T. S.
Great little pub! Staff helpful, friendly and polite and food was outstanding! Lots of parking. Went twice in the three days of our stay both times for lunch and could not fault a single thing. By the way.... Did the guy get the job?
F. F.
Good food, lovely views from the garden- lots of space so didn't feel ancious on my first pub trip in 12 months. Only given 4 stars as the battered fish were very heavy handed in the batter meaning the batter handn't cooked all the way through for one of our party, but the other dishes were all great.
L. O.
Food amazing, service amazing, staff amazing, views amazing, I would recommend to anyone 100%
M. C.
Really great pub restaurant food, and really good service. Perspex screens between tables and good covid safety measures in place. Evenings were fully booked but we had a good Sunday lunch and returned at the end of the week for lunch, Duck and Brill were both very good. Thank you Britannia.
E. M.
We went here on our holiday in Gower and liked it so much we went back twice! The food was great, they were family friendly and the waiters/waitresses were lovely. The view outside was wonderful and there was also a great playground for the kids. Could recommend it enough.
M. G.
Can't say more than just Perfect
S. M.
Had a fabulous meal at the Britannia. Service and food excellent. Plenty of choice at a great price. I would recommend the cockles, laverbread starter. All 4 of us thoroughly enjoyed. It was my 1st time eating out in the last 16 months and I felt safe and relaxed. Well done Britannia!
M. C.
Lovely lunch but . . . . Brit trying to do toooo much? Sunday lunch menu, outdoor menu, bar menu???? Waiting staff polite and pleasant but not well informed about meals being served? Vegetarian, vegan, gluten free and lactose intolerant . . . . not a bloody clue. My meal was great as I like a beef roast, otherwise too much confusion, lack of info . . . .
B. M.
Lovely pub/restaurant, excellent service, starters were fabulous, the cod and pies were very good, Moroccan lamb and Thai green curry were not as good, coffee was excellent, all in all good value for money
A. M.
Award winning, small pub restaurant which has a large outdoor seating area with lovely view. Very good service and good food. We ate outside and sampled the Brit Burger, which was well prepared and properly satisfying and the Britannia Smoked Mackerel Caesar which was substantial and delicious. There are too few of these classic British pubs left. Well worth a detour through the very narrow country lanes of north Gower to visit the Britannia Inn.
S. R.
We went for lunch on a windy and rainy Sunday. Warm welcome. Nice beer, (I tried the HBA and the Gower Gold).
The food is really varied, and very well cooked. A genuine "Gastropub".
L. H.
Really nice meal outside in the evening sunshine out in the beer garden. Ordering was done at the bar, food brought out but drinks collected from a serving hatch. Very friendly service and nice views. Recommended.
N. S.
We've just had a surprise 50th birthday lunch with 25 guests, they couldn't do enough for us.
The atmosphere, service and food were perfect!
Thank you x
D. R. F.
Excellent in every respect. Our 8th visit and it never disappoints. Great menu of starters, mains and desserts. I had the Thai fishcakes followed by the sea bream in saffron sauce. Beautifully presented, delicious and satisfying. Great value too at two courses £19.50 and three courses £25. Friendly and efficient service too. We'll be back again in two nights.
P. M.
Very good food and friendly service.
R. J.
The quality and choice of meals is simply excellent. The service at the Brit is top notch as is the atmosphere and friendliness if the place.
The specials board when we visited included Welsh lamb shanks which three of our party chose and we all thought they were delicious.
We'll done to all at the Brit. We will be back next time we're in Gower.
Da iwan a'i gadw i fyny
J. H.
Lovely atmosphere, wide variety of dishes and great quality food. Pet friendly in bar.
H. G.
We came to Gower Wales for a week and visited this pub multiple times. The food was always cooked perfectly. Good selection of alcohol. The staff were welcoming and friendly. If I ever come back to this part of Wales again, this pub will be my go to for food!
H. P.
We popped in here for a meal from our campsite on a cold, wet evening based on a local recommendation and were not disappointed!
The food was amazing, the bartender was friendly and cheery, and the atmosphere was very cosy.
They have also put good Covid safety precautions in place, such as perspective screens at tables (in the bar area - can’t speak to the restaurant as we didn’t dine in there) and a one way system to the loo - beware you will need to go outside though, so be prepared to take a jacket!
We had a lovely time here and would definitely pop back if we were ever in the area again!
J. L.
Great pub serving great food. Good options of beer, wine and spirits. Staff very friendly.
Beer garden is large, great for kids.
L. P.
Lovely Father's Day lunch at Britannia Inn. Will be back again.
J. D.
Great olde pub with good food, had scampi chips peas salad, large full plate, drinks reasonably priced as well.
Good service and fabulous outdoor seating relaxing atmosphere in a lovely setting, parking available thank goodness as roads very narrow, beautiful little village setting with impressive church and walks x
c. d.
Lovely food good value. Exceptional views highly recommend
J. E.

Went here on a busy Thursday evening ..waited about 1 hour but !!! Well worth the wait ..I had the chillie and without going over the top ..its the best I've ever had ..been to Mexico a few times and sampled there's but this was way better !!! Rest of group had steak and also very good ..really lovely waiter and altogether a really lovely evening ..
P. T.
Lovely food, atmosphere and staff. Views when sitting outside are fantanstic and the old pub interior is beautiful
H. P.
Best food. Partner had Scampi & chips and he claimed it to be the beat scampi he has ever had in a pub. I had a kids portion of lamb shoulder with mash n veg. Melting in the mouth and portion was very generous! We chanced upon it, but will be our frequent loco!
V. G.
Really interesting menu promoting local produce. All dishes reasonably priced as well as being homemade. Lovely staff and atmosphere. Great for kids with the birds, rabbits and climbing wall, terrific views too. A great start to our holiday. Thanks Britannia Inn
y. l.
A hidden gem, doesn't come close to describing this great restaurant/pub. A large car park and outstanding view. Large outdoor space and activity areas for the kids are just the outside areas worthy of note. Inside this old Welsh cottage pub is like stepping back in time but with a very smart decorative interior. The restaurant embraces it's countryside with nice little touches throughout. At a couple of points the doorways and ceilings are quite low (well signed) but this adds charm to the establishment. The food is of a high standard and reasonably priced. Good vegetarian menu too. Staff are very friendly and attentive. Can't fault this place. Well done all involved and thank you for a great lunch.
J. P.
Absolutely excellent food and the most friendly and helpful staff ever. Made to feel most welcome even though we were visitors.
A. J.
Nice run down in car, but then scraped the front under guard when parking in car park at the side.nasty dip. Then we went inside found a table by door my wife went to move chair to sit down back came off . Moved to other chair ok . Ordered food at bar asked for wine and soda person serving asked is that lemonade . Ordered food beer battered cod and scampi. Very disappointed with cod batter was mushy . Will not go back in future.
J. S.
Turned up for drinks after an off road cycle. Great welcome by Saffie and staff who were super busy. We've been checking out the cheesy chips across Gower and these are definitely the BEST. Just enough to keep up the energy to get home.
P. F.
Great menu. Must book for meals at the weekend.
G. H.
Lovely area. Good, helpful staff and great views. I had fish & chips, which was OK to good. Disabled users could get into the downstairs bar only by walking. Not wheelchair accessible. Steep steps up to up to restaurant that has no handrail. Steep steps in the scenic rear garden with no handrail. On lovely day, this place is a delight to drive to.
J. W.
Food was good, but the portions are minimal for the price.Friendly and good atmosphere but expensive.
I. B.
To be fair, food was great and servixe quite fast, quite disappointing actitud from the guy behind the bar, did not notice me for 3-4 minutes in the war while leaning on coffe machine talking to someone on back bar + a very condescending actitud towards customers not only myself. However I would recommend the pub as its better than the few ones around.
Specials are of a very good quality, octopus, calamari and seabass very tasty, rest of the team were fast and friendly.
D. S.
This place is a little out of the way, but a must go to if you are in the vicinity. You will have a wide choice from a well thought out, and extensive menu (see website for details), and fine real ales. Our group of six, each eating individual choices from 3 courses all of which portioned, and cooked perfectly. I have to rate this far above the norm quality, and presentation wise. All of this takes place in a cosy very well kept aged stone building. Lastly there is a playground for any children attending your visit. Have fun. We did.
P. J.
Excellent food. Good service
J. B.
Beautiful view, good beer, food average.
P. W.
Very good food and ale and a fabulous garden with great views.
J. M.
Great views, popular with walker's.
Only gave 4 stars as the chips were not v good.
C. R.
Great old pub, lots of old features, but with all the finesse of a modern gastro pub, fantastic food, great beer, friendly locals and live music too!
T. J.
Stopped for a quick bar meal on a very busy Good Friday food came in good time after ordering and was tasty and plentiful.
C. S.
Great food, beautiful location and excellent service
m. h.
Lovely food, friendly and helpful staff.
Can't fault the place, shall be back.
N. A.
We had a delicious meal...sous vide lamb was so tasty and my bream with crispy skin was gorgeous. Mash and butternut puree plus delicious selection of fresh veg.Puddings to die for!!
B. M.
We had a fantastic lunch at Britannia Inn. Delicious steak ciabatta and pulled pork bap with great beer to go with it. In a beautiful setting and good service.
S. D.
Great for kids with outdoor play area. We sat in the sun on garden picnic bench. Kids had a kids meal (burger and chips) and we had a lovely large fish finger sandwich. Great value for money. Lovely service.
M. E.
Really nice place to have some food.
J. W.
We stopped off at the Britannia for lunch in January 2020, and had the set lunch menu.
Firstly, the greeting was warm and friendly, and the building itself inside is gorgeous. Feels nice and cosy, well appointed and comfortable. The food was absolutely fantastic, delicately balanced, big on flavours and the portion sizes were very generous! I can still taste the lamb and the sticky toffee pudding a week later it was that good. For the price, we weren't expecting to eat so well, and I can thoroughly recommend the Britannia!
C. T.
Large pub garden and really good pub food
A. L.
Superb cosy country pub. The food was great, it's cosy and comfortable. The food was delicious and an excellent selection of ales
H. M.
Really great pub. Havent eaten there as always so busy. But really lovely setting. Small inside but lots of outdoor seating and lawn to sit.
Z. K.
We’ve been to quite a few pubs in the area and none of them have come close to here. They really care about the food they are serving and it’s super fresh. Great level of service by friendly staff. Definitely highly recommended.
L. J.
Lovely restaurant and pub (no Inn), with great attentive service. The food was lovely, my only criticism would be that the gravy like sauce and veg, served with the Rib-eye steak completely overpowered any taste of meat. The homemade ice cream and sorbet were to die for.
The overall feel was welcoming and cosy. Prices were reasonable and I would recommend a visit :)
I. A. A.
Nice service and excellent food. The specials today we're really good. Plenty of room outside, fantastic place for children.
P. S.
Great food. Excellent service, superb value for money. What more can you say!
A. W.
Great meal in a traditional Country Pub situated in the lovely village of Llanmadoc. Dog friendly in bar and the nice beer garden overlooking the estuary. Called again yesterday 2 years after my original post. Was very busy for a lunchtime and seemed a little understaffed but the food was amazing with the little staff they had being very friendly and pleasant.
M. S.
Nice setting and ambience but let down by average Sunday roast. Would have liked to have seen fresh vegetables rather than frozen for the price paid.
H. V.
Having had a wonderful bar meal at the Britannia Inn we decided to book a table at the restaurant the following night. Food was amazing. Very friendly staff in both bar and restaurant. Would certainly recommend for anyone wishing to dine in the area. Thank you so much Britannia Inn for such a warm welcome and high standard of service and food.
R. J.
The lamb burger was out of this world. Absolutely stunning. Lovely staff. Beautiful views.
K. K.
A lovely village pub packed with character. The food was fab, really yummy and a good selection. The staff are lovely and made the experience all the better.
K. F.
Visited whilst on hol but has booked before we arrived which was good as was full due to Eat Out Scheme. Staff were friendly, food was lovely, kids meals were ample. Would def recommended a visit.
B. T.
Lovely food and drinks in the garden with fabulous views
P. C.
Excellent country gastro pub. First class food. Amazing service - first Saturday night of the school summer holidays after a baking day, it was bursting at the seams but they continued to provide fantastic food and drink to everyone not just those with reserved tables in the restaurant with only short delays and always attentively and cheerfully - highly recommended.
J.
Wonderful food and atmosphere. Been there quite a few times before. A jewel!
S. R.
Great food at a decent price - and pleasant staff too. Really enjoyed the meal.
R. C.
Good food and a very reasonably priced lunchtime 2 or 3 course menu, however it had no vegetarian or vegan options included; only a separate veggie menu that wasn't part of same deal, and apparently no substitutions allowed, which is pretty unfair and discriminatory. £14.95 for a veggie lasagne?? Sadly I had some very greasy 'Asian-infused noodles' instead.
Being a wet day, the pub was understandably busy but stuffy with it. Service was ok, if a bit short shrift at times.
k. h.
Great value, and delicious food, lovely friendly staff in a relaxed atmosphere. When the weather is right you can't beat eating outside in the sun trap out front. Bonus is they are extremely dog friendly!
L. A.
Lovely meal. Staff very friendly. Nice fire going. Good atmosphere.
l. l.
Food was top notch . sevice fast and efficient staff very helpful. i would recommend to anyone
S. K.
Delicious food very nicely cooked. Plenty of space outside which was excellent on a sunny day. Parking on site is a bonus.
P. W.
First time here today, food was great, service was great, staff were very friendly, definitely go again
D. E.
A great traditional Sunday menu in a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere. Beautiful food and first class service.
I am already looking forward to sampling the specials menu one evening soon. Highly recommended.
M.
Had the most incredible meal here tonight. Staff attentive, food outstanding. Beautiful place. Please go there, an absolute little gem of a place x x
D. E.
Best lamb I have had at any restaurant.
A. I.
Best Sunday lunch I've had in years. Lovely food, well executed, coupled with excellent "can't do enough to help" service. Worth a visit. Will be back.
C. M.
This is an extremely well liked pub, so I think I was just unlucky with the timing / food choices. I was disappointed with both the food and atmosphere in the restaurant - but many people outside were enjoying their fish and chips so I shall assume it was a glitch on the day.
J. M.
It's our favourite pub on Gower. Food way above usual pub food. Lovely fish dishes, lobster bisque, rabbit casserole, reasonably priced, well worth the extra mile. Friendly staff excellent wine, we love it.
F. M. D.
Nice but small pub.
It has an okay, but not particulatly good selection of beers (mostly English, none Weslh and none from Gower Brewery!) The food is nice, but verges on the pretentious (The smoked mackrel is served in what smells like match smoke! Not wood chip as one might expect. The dish was still nice, but with an after-smell if Swan Vestas.)
S. J.
Eaten here many times. Always had excellent meals and friendly efficient service. On top of that dome of the best views on Gower from their garden. Cannot recommend strongly enough!!
S. T.
Nice food, friendly staff, great view of the sea
J. P.
Nice food. Expensive for a bread and butter pudding which quite small and came cold with warm custard. Ribs nice though
T. K.
Had a lovely meal, next to a cosy fire🔥. Really appreciated them being open in the ‘no alcohol 6pm closing’ COVID times we are in, It’s a lovely pub all year round, even more appreciated now. Hope they make it through...
2.
Fabulous food, it's an hour and a half round trip for us but well worth it.
S. S.
Very good food served promptly. Sat outside on picnic tables in the afternoon sun, with lovely views over north Gower. Inside all safety procedures in place against coronavirus. Felt safe going in to order food.
J. W.
Excellent spot, great views, great food and all that topped by the service which was exemplary
J. P.
Been a favourite for a few years. Food always top quality. Service excellent. Staff very friendly. Good selection of local beer and a concise wine list.
M. G.
Great location. Beer garden catering for kids, so if that's not your thing, the tables at the front should be a better option. Bar can be busy with diners. Bar is dog friendly, restaurant not.
R. H.
Lovely food. Great range of drinks. Beautiful surroundings. Staff very friendly.
J. E.
Enjoyed a tasty mackerel salad here out in their garden one sunny Saturday afternoon. A friendly pub with an extensive menu (including gluten-free) in a beautiful location. An ideal stop fir lunch or dinner on a day's hiking.
M. L. E.
Very enjoyable. Nice pub in a beautiful area. Attentive hard working staff. Not tried the food yet but it's on the list to do.
P. M.
Enjoyed a lovely lunch with a friend. Good range on the menu. Well priced wine.
L. D.
Lovely Food & Drink selection, friendly staff, plenty of outdoor seating and amazing views across the estuary
b. q.
We visit the Inn this weekend and it was clean and the staff were really friendly. Good value food and great decking at the rear defo recommend
K. F.
Lovely local food selections. We were early to lunch and it was a bit chilly in the pub though!
B. H.
Fabulous food and welcome. We had rump steaks cooked to perfection and the pie was to die for. If you are visiting the Gower Peninsula be sure to visit the Britannia Inn. We were served really quickly, unlike another pub we went to a couple of days ago where we were waiting two hours to be served.
There's a lovely children's play park and sweet aviary with budgies and canaries which kept our grandchildren amused for ages. Thank you for your kind, friendly attention.
Bwyd blasus iawn. Diolch yn fawr i chi i gyd.
M. P.
Nice food especially the lamb burger. Good beer garden with children's play area and friendly staff. Dog friendly too. Only drops one star for lack of selection for real ales.
k. S.
Dropped by as near a friends place. Loved it, very friendly, polite, helpful young bar staff. Tad noisy but it was friday night . Food is fabulous, defo recommend, very tasty, hot & plenty if it. Would eat there again, yum.
N. B.
Such a good variety of food. Best meal I have had in a long time and some interesting options. The mackerel was very impressive.
R. H.
Busy pub with good food and lovely garden
K. W.
Excellent pub. Great service, too. Recommended.
I. S.
Recommend the beer battered fish or ham, egg and chips with a pint of Doom Bar after a wonderful walk to shell beach
C. R.
Excellent food and service (as always). Bring back the Shepherds Pie or it'll be a 4 star review next time :-)
J. J.
Took the family for lunch at the 'brit". No booking just grab a table. Pulled pork sandwich, lamb tagine and morrocan bean casserole. A friend of mine goes with his wife and they order 1 meal and two plates! I have to say my tagine was a struggle to finish but delicious tho' I'd have added apricots to liven it up a bit. Ale is always good but I'd replace the doombar with something a little more adventurous. The Gower Power was great. We'll be going again before the schools break up.
K. C.
Lovely pub beautiful food and beautiful scenery. Food is so yummy and freshly cooked. Great play area for kids to. Locals are very friendly xxx
A. F.
A beatiful old pub, good beer and great food too.

The highlight of our holiday foodwise. Amazing menu, the food is fantastic, the staff so friendly and helpful. Child friendly restaurant and brilliant play area. We love this place.
C. R.
Fantastic meals today in the restaurant. The staff were working hard cleaning and making us feel safe. Looking forward to returning already!
N. P.
Charming country pub serving nice selection of beers plus excellent bar/restaurant food at reasonable prices.
Sunday roast best on Gower!
Highley recommended and very popular - need to book...
Only downside is location as quite far..from anywhere..
G. B.
Loved this place. Lovely food - some of the best I have had for a while, friendly staff, lovely views, and if you are patient you can see the bats flying around at dusk and enjoy the bunny's and birds in the garden.
R. &. B.
Nice dog friendly pub with decent food
M. L.
Just got home to Kent after a whistle stop tour of the Gower in the hands of our friend Kerry T.
Completed the event by having an early evening meal here.
Beer, well my favourite Doombar was on draft perfectly kept. Always nice.
Food, well i guess that it might be a chef patron establishment as the food was very lovingly created and well cooked. Excellent value all round.
If you are in the area, make sure that you try it.
V. P.
A very good place if you want to try some delicious local food. They have an excellent chef. The service is good and great staff. Reasonable price range.
A. D.
Not a lot of vegetarian choice but what I did have was very tasty and homemade chips can beat them.. Highly recommended especially if you like fish.
l. h.
Had lunch there last Thursday with my husband, daughter and baby grandson. Good and bad to report. Good: we all thought our meals were lovely. A tad more expensive than usual pub lunches but worth it as they were delicious. Bad: it was a beautiful sunny day (stunning views over the estuary) so we decided to eat outside at the front of the pub. Sorry we did as it wasn't very clean! Lots of litter around (used serviettes, dropped food etc), I had to wipe down the table as it was covered in dried up sauce and food bits and they hadn't even weeded the surrounding area - a shame as the shrubs were looking lovely. Definitely took the shine off what we thought was going to be a treat and certainly something that should be sorted if they want to pull in customers from further afield and keep their reputation as a better class of country pub.
R. W.
Friendly staff. Great views from the garden at the rear. Good quality food, over-priced but the other pluses compensate. A nice place to stop for a while.
b. b.
Comfy, cosy pub. Really good quality food but frustrated they stopped serving desserts so early in the evening.
K. H.
Great food, service and very cosy little place. Very helpful where dogs were concerned. Puddings to die for. Best parfait ever. A little bit of joy.
M. T.
No fuss. Affordable. Quality menu. Quality cooking. Friendly staff and atmosphere. Two visits in the last month. Definitely not the last time.
Ps The coast and local country is pretty good too.
R. S.
Managed to fit us in, on Dydd Gŵyl Dewi no less, without a reservation, at a moment's notice and with no fuss at all! The place was packed, too, and little surprise there as the food is absolutely gorgeous. I wholeheartedly recommend that you make a stop here a part of your itinerary.
I. S.
Excellent food and a very well kept pub. Would recommend it to anyone.
G. H.
Fabulous food and attentive staff.
Due to the rain we moved in from the garden to the restaurant area. The staff couldn't have been more helpful. A+
I. B.
The best food on The Gower. Prices are outrageously cheap! Try the Lamb Tagine and tell me it wasn't made in heaven! Very friendly service and a couple of well kept real ales. Oh, as well as the lamb of god they have chips to die for! I can't recommend the food enough.
r. s.
Nice pub, welcoming staff in an amazing location
D. B.
Nice location, good food, friendly service . We also appreciated every effort had been made for us to feel safe during this pandemic. So 10 out of 10.

Lovely food it was packed out but didn't have to wait too long!
T. D.
Another fantastic meal. Best steak I have had in years
E. G.
Lovely fire, crowded seating in bar area needs revisiting, not much local choice of drinks, portions were good for food, but more restaurant than pub food with pricing to match, would have liked to have seen more local dishes like the Saltmarsh lamb burger. Overall okay, staff not very attentive but were very polite.
J. B.
Very friendly staff, beautiful views from the back garden, and the quality and variety, of the food was amazing. If you're looking for a place to enjoy good food and drink with family and friends, come by the Britannia Inn.
