Had an early lunch (12) and one of the staff saw us and took order even though she started in 30mins time. We had a cut down menu due to kitchen not ready for chips so settled on a baguette. It took a long time to come out however but was very tasty

Turned up 2.30pm told all cooked Sunday lunches have gone, no proper apology, went to another brain's pub Vivien sketty and had a warm welcome and good food.will not go back to Hen Derwent pub .been a customer for many years. Stay clear. Contacted by new Manager and had good discussion regarding situation.made to feel welcome and gauranteed That this is a one of and want happen again. Food is really incredible , I bet they have a very talented chef ( capable of transforming a simple burger into amusement ) . They can make their menu more varied , I think . The place is nice , spacious enough to feel really cosy . Staff are friendly . Haven't tried them on a match day though , one of few places who have football match announcements in Swansea as it seems . Thanks guys

Oh my goodness, the roast beef dinner was as good as my mother used to make it. Great value and excellent service. Lots of sanitiser stations throughout the venue making it covid secure.

The attention to individual safety and adherence to 'lockdown ' requirements is excellent. Staff are very professional and friendly. Food is excellent- steaks are cooked as you ask for ! Sunday lunch very tasty. We hadn't been for a while but it is definitely on our 'go to' places again.

Never been before. Just called in for a quick evening meal whilst passing. Couldn't fault it. Good value, good food, great service. We were told our food would be a 45min wait due to it being busy but it arrived within 20min and the food was perfectly cooked and presented. Plenty of choice for gluten free which is a must for me. Will definitely return.

I've eaten here a few times and each time the food has arrived promptly and well presented. I don't know what cheese they use on the lasagna and nachos, but it's particularly good. The staff are all attentive and cheerful (especially the girl with the Llanelli accent )

Went here with 2 friends for a pre Christmas lunch. It was heaving. The table was beautifully laid with good quality tableware and crackers and the food was superb. We had the three course lunch menu and the main course in particular was cooked to perfection, with plenty of seasonal veggies. I'd recommend the Hen Dderwen for anyone wanting a special occasion meal at a great price.

Firstly. I’m not one for writing these things!! But after today’s experience I felt I had to. Today I was out doing the normal Christmas shopping(last minute man). When we needed a lunch stop! This can cause somewhat problematic, as my father has a few health issues!! Upon talking to one of your manageress ( Sarah Daniels) this was soon clear that it wouldn’t be a problem at all. More of a pleasure to be honest. A table was soon available and menus and drink options, offered to us without asking! It was clear that we were made to feel very welcomed, not a hindrance at all!! This said we were all extremely happy with both food and our experience today. Can’t talk highly enough of the staff and atmosphere created for us today. Many thanks again, special thanks again to Sarah Daniels!!

After the disappointment of the Black Boy last week, today's meal has restored my faith in Brains pub food. This was a delicious Sunday roast, I had lamb and my friend had beef, with a beautiful Yorkshire pudding and all the trimmings. Really filling so had no room for dessert 😪

I went there on Friday 29/12/17 for a meal with my family. We went to our table, which was reserved for us. The young lady who served me at the bar, I thought she was very pretty and a wonderful personality. All in all, service was great and so was the food. I'don't recommend it to anyone.☺☺

My husband and I regularly visit the Hen Dderwen - good value for money. Can recommend Two for £10 during the day. Food good - if you want gourmet stuff then go pay exorbitant prices elsewhere. Staff are great. If there is something not to your liking they will oblige.

A nice bright pub from appearances with a combination of things letting it down. Both ladies and gents toilets had maintenance issues but were usable apart from the gents hand dryer which was not sensitive enough. Two of the four main meals were overcooked with surprisingly my peas being cold. We were not asked if our meals were ok while eating. The Rev James beer didn't taste right with it having an unusual tang but was still drinkable. Plus our nachos starter didn't have the chillies on it and there were no adverts for the summer drinks. All of these things are relatively little and on their own would be insignificant but combined appeared to warrant 3 stars. It will be easy to get this pub to warrant a change though to 4 or maybe 5 stars.

A very popular public house which in recent years has been brought in to the 21st Century ! Massively improved recently. Much more lively,food quality & effort greatly improved. Word has started to spread around now too. Really pleased to be able to return here again. I suspect some of the "recent" reviews were taken by some disgruntled individuals. Great to see this place picking up. 👍🏻
