Great pub. Good selection of real ales, lagers and IPA. The cherry on the cake is that the pub allows punters to bring food in from the local takeaways and there are Chinese, Indian and fish and chip places in a few hundred yards. Awesome.

Place to be in Oakengates if you like a friendly atmosphere and real ale. They have a tasty range of beers from the Rowton Brewery as well as several guests My friends and I just had a party in the function room upstairs with a curry banquet provided by Bangla Pride opposite. Great Beer ... Great Food. .. Great Fun What else do you need on a Saturday night? Oh yeh... Taxi !

(Translated) 3 pubs next to each other in the street. Huge selection of beers. Every week in a pub there are special new beers from all over the region. Friendly staff, very quaint everything. And 1.5 pint to go freshly plucked in the bottle. (Original) 3 Pubs neben einander in der Strasse. Riesige Auswahl an Bieren. In einem Pub gibt es jede Woche spezielle neue Biere aus der ganzen Region. Freundliches Personal, sehr urig alles. Und 1,5 Pint to go in der Flasche frisch gezupft.

Old school pub with more choice of beer on tap now plus lots of flavoured Gin too, not my kind of pub but good for a quick pint before heading somewhere more lively. More a pub for older punters and it is dog friendly with free doggie treats.

I like it here for a drink straight after work on Fridays. Great atmosphere. I don't like the fact that people can bring their own food in and eat it round the back. It makes it smelly and horrible. The toilets need a good clean too.

Great pub. Always a good selection of top notch beers and friendly staff. Delighted to see that they have now seen the error of their ways and publish the beer prices. After all they ARE competitively priced!

A great oldy worldy real pub with many different beers on draft. Occasional beer festivals and also allow takeaway to be delivered and eaten inside. Nice chilled atmosphere and clientele. Not the greatest area but once you are inside its all good :-)

Updated modern and extremely friendly (locals?) pub. Instantly welcomed by who I can assume is the gentleman who owns the place. Would highly suggest as a completely different scenario to the general feel of Oakengates; it's out of place but in a good way. Was initially looking for food, but decided to remain as killing time and despite being on my own, enjoyed the easy-going atmosphere.

Great visit to the Old Fighting Cocks pub. Easily accessible from the station, and next to two other great pubs make this a good choice for a few beers. The pub is a Rowton brewery pub, who make a range of different yet excellent ales. Also available are a changing selection of guest ales. We had a friendly welcome and had a good chat to some locals too. Well worth a trip.
