Reviews of The Boat Inn - Jackfield

Marvelous historic Inn in jackfield.. About 20 min walk from Ironbridge. Its a nice walk too. Right on the river severn so lovely views. The ale is nice and they do snacks, usually 2-3 on and well kept. Great service behind the bar... It's been flooded a few times so get in there ASAP. Highly recommended 🍻

Lovely little pub next to the river Severn Coalport. Under new management. Events on most weekends. Last weekend was raising money for combat stress. Check with the pub to see other events. Music on most weekends
J. C.
It was 😍 lovely nice savigivon blanc andca pint of Butty Back x nice people and a beautiful view of the river Severn x
C. B.
Popped in for a quick drink whilst at the Dogs Trust fundraiser. New owners Mario and Lisa have created a lovely welcoming environment and it was great to see the pub so popular. Definitely worth a visit.
R. C.
Nice little pub by the river, extensive gardens. Coffee, tea and hot drinks available to take away. Good range of alcoholic beverages and plenty of ales and cider on tap. Free WiFi. Polite, respectful landlord. Well worth a visit.

Great little pub in a lovely location next to the River Severn. It was a quiet Monday afternoon when we called in, but friendly owner and a good pint.
Under new ownership the pub now takes card payments too, as I see earlier reviews said they didn't.

I really love this pub. It's in a peaceful tranquil location by the river. Its amazing how many times and how severely this pub has been flooded and hasn't lost its cosy ambience. In fact it adds to its history. Perfect stop off on a long walk. And it's very dog friendly too!!
I. W.
Lovely pub by the river surrounded by trees. Perfect location to enjoy a beer and unwind.
Great location off the beaten track. Friendly staff, good choice of drinks and snacks. Can pay on card.

My favourite terrace that any pub has in Telford. Quiet, by the water, and cheap drinks. What I would suggest is better cleaing standards for the toilets. Overall, an amazing place to sit and have a drink with a loved one.
M. W.
New owners recently taken over so can get a decent pint of real ale, they even take a card payment now, which was always a gripe of mine in there!
I thought £1.50 for a bag of crisps felt a bit steep though or am I just out of touch?
Onwards and upwards, good luck to the new landlord!
L.
Fantastic, friendly and characterful pub in a picturesque setting. Great selection of ales, live music and now serving pork pies and sandwiches 👍
T. D.
A lovely little pub very friendly service. Try the locally sourced pork pies they're delicious.

Good, friendly tradition pub, with about 4 quality ales, a nice pub garden by the river and no traffic noise.

Great cosy pub that is full of history. Loads of info on the flooding, a really friendly landlord. If you like your drinking dens old skool, then give this a go.
T. R.
Bit rough and ready.
Had a drink in the garden by the river which was quite nice.

R. D.
Brilliant traditional pub and Mario the landlord was great
M. T.
Lovely pub, the sense of history is palpable, lovely landlord, had a great time, would recommend this pub to anyone, will become my regular pub from now on, seems to have a sense of tradition which I love.
A. R.
Positives: Pricing was surprisingly low, great view, outside seating by river, bridge to the other side of river with walks all around, the doors have flood levels on them which I thought was rather interesting and when I went last there was a sweet dog in the bar area.
Negatives: The owner ruined the good review. Does not seem bothered about being at all hospitable and is rude. Was sat outside when we went in to order and had not much choice in the way of drinks or snacks.
P. K.
The beer was alright, staff brought the beer to our table and nice location. Make sure you bring cash as they don't have a card machine due to the bad phone signal.
F. H.
Lovely pub.. friendly staff
R. J.
Lovely location so plenty of outside tables for you to enjoy the Riverside view is perfect. Beer is cheap but it's a cash only pub.
G. T.
Lovely little pub, great for a stop off from one of the many local walking routes. Highly recommended with friendly staff and good selection of Beer.
N. W.
They should have bigger signs to say cash only. Very embarrassing. Had to go to next town and find a cash point. But they did let us have the drinks. Went back and paid but not a word of thanks. Good job we are honest.
T. L.
Lovely pub, next to the canal,. Friendly locals, including the dog. Would definitely recommend and visit again.
G. F.

K. B.
A wonderful traditional pub, so rare these days .. This is the real deal it's like going back in time. Friendly bar staff. Enjoy good beers while sitting next to traditional open fire range and drift back to a bygone age.
Regular music nights . Dog friendly .
Highly recommended if you want a true English pub.
S. T.
Unspoilt by progress, and that's exactly what it is. Love it
R. S.
Classic out-of-the-way pub in scenic Jackfield. Unashamedly old fashioned which makes it a charming place to visit.
S. B.
A little gem, tucked away well off the beaten track, a must see pub in beautiful surroundings 👍🏻
P. T.
Nice little local pub, very nice refurbishment, good beer, land lord could have been a bit more welcoming.
j. d.
Great landlord and a great pint of ale too. You must go very beautiful place by the river.
L. P.
Good pub let down by Marston's beer. The landlord is the surliest man in the world and that brings my review up one star. In May 2015 I came in looking for beer and crisps and was told there were still none available due to the floods four months before!
H. H.
Lovely pub down by the river, friendly staff, covid safe and a perfect pint. Worth the trip out.
P. S.
The Boat Inn is very easy to find, it can be accessed by walking over the bridge from the Youth Hostel or alternatively by car by driving past the Jackfield tile museum. On rare occasions the Inn has suffered from floods and access to the upper floors is by way of a boat. However enjoy the ambiance, the camaraderie, the good ales and good food.
D. 6.
Lovely location overlooking the river, very traditional old fashioned pub, don't think they offer meals. walks to Ironbridge (around 30 minutes), Maws Craft Centre, Jackfield Tile Museum or over the bridge to Coalport China Museum.
R. M.
Stumbled upon this pub one evening when they were having a folk music event. Was great. Not a lot of choice of beers inly downside
J. L.
If you visiting the valley, pop over the river and take a load off at the pub chilled atmosphere and friendly staff make sure to have money on you as they do not except cards unfortunately, they even have records of flood levels in the area which was interesting.
S. T.
I really liked this pub! There was a great atmosphere in there with the live music, and the bartender was really friendly!
S. P.
